  1. Actually, they are building a content (and advertising) delivery mechanism and using you to harvest users .

  2. Favourites are user based and it would be great if a "watchlist" was the same and provided a list of movies and tvshows in the same view the same as favourites. Top picks is great but that is admin based as you said and provides a totally different function.

  3. If the item has a valid Provider id (from the likes of imdb, thetvdb, tmdb..) then it will be 'remembered' via this value. Thus if you delete the file, and then restore it later - it will keep the user played 'history' as it's tied to this value, not the unique ItemId. If you want to see the full history of what's been played by each user - then the 'Playback Reporting' Plugin will keep this for you (in it's own database). It is a very powerful and impressive plugin - and tbh, should be included with Emby when it's installed ..

  4. Could the way User Settings are handled be changed so that: 1 - Every setting that is changed via the Admin/Server - Users settings page becomes the new default for that particular user (instead of the Emby supplied default). 2 - Any setting that is changed appropriate for an end user to change from within that particular user account being signed in is saved at the local device level, and would be used instead of Server specified defaults. This wouild: A - Allow us to adjust the default behavior when NO local settings exist. B - Still have local device specific settings override what have been set as Server defaults. (Allowing the same User to have different settings per Device - as it is now.) It doesn't seem like the logic would be that much different than it is now. Assuming if no local settings already exist today, the Server has to pass along what it has them as for a starting point. The change wouild just be allowing us to alter what any of those base default settings are.

  6. It appears that any playlist that any user creates is public--all other users can see it. I can appreciate the benefit of a public playlist. I could create a playlist called "Harv's Favorite Horror Films" for example, in case other users are interested in checking out what I like. However, the way most of my users are using playlists is to keep track of things they want to watch in the future. They are typically things that the user has not watched yet, so it's not meant as a recommendation to others, just as a way of them personally keeping track of what they want to watch. Having that kind of playlist be public is of questionable benefit to other users. Additionally, it is not clear when you create a playlist that other users will be able to see it. That has the potential to cause some embarrassment. He hasn't created one yet, but I wouldn't want to see my nephew's "movies to fap to" playlist, for example. If I could make a suggestion, I would suggest associating each playlist with the user who created it, and giving that user the ability to make the playlist private or public. For example, the following two checkboxes could be shown when creating or editing a playlist: Allow other users to see this playlist Allow other users to edit this playlist Initially, both checkboxes would be unchecked. Since another user cannot edit a playlist they cannot see, the second would be allowed to be checked only if the first were also checked. (You could grey it out to make that clear.) Depending on your UI preference, it could also be a drop-down menu. Playlist visibility: (Only me | all users can view | all users can view and edit) Thanks for considering this.

  7. Can we lock the movie order in a playlist? I want to make a MCU movie sequence, but anyone can change the order in it and i need it to be always the same order.

  8. I've been looking at some info about high resolution audio support on Android and all I've seen is complaints about poor support by the Android driver in this regard, where the driver resamples everything to 48Khz instead of playing the audio in its real resolution even on phones with DACs that support up to 192Khz. In a previous release of Emby for Android mobile I saw the release notes saying the app was supporting high res on phones that support it, but given the above situation I wonder what the Emby app actually supports in this regard. One suggestion could be adding the real output the app is giving in the "Stats for nerds" option inside the cog icon in the now playing screen.

  9. One thing the streaming community hasn't done well is really create tools that allow us to simulate live TV well. I think the biggest reason that binging on Netflix (and Emby) is so popular is because you push a button and go. I'd like to see Emby create a "To Watch List" that basically allows you to sort shows into a specific order. When you watch that list, it will only play the most recent episode of each show in the list that premier inside that week. Lets pretend I made a DC TV Watch list, it would only play this weeks episode of Arrow, Flash, Legends, Supergirl and Gotham one after another. If an episode didn't premier that week, it gets skipped. Additionally, I'd like to see this system *ALSO* allow us to insert bumpers similar to Cartoon Network or Toonami. In the here and now, it would only insert bumpers between the series, but it would be nice if in the future, a system that allows some method for choosing the appropriate points between each act of an episode where bumpers could also be inserted. Bumpers would be a community thing to create, but inside the "to watch list", you'd choose what bumpers (if any) are used. Bumpers could even be surrounded by previews. Finally, another thought: while Emby already can pull Movie Trailers, it might be another cool future project if we could pull previews of related series not in the "To Watch List" and/or perhaps ones that aren't on your server that are similar to what you are watching. There's a lot of ideas in this post to digest and several should be their own project as part of this concept. Thoughts

  11. That's a lot trickier than it sounds because it is a conversion to another format that then has to be decoded rather than just decoding one format. Why stereo? Mostly because this option was designed for TV speakers not to bypass the internal decoders. Also, a lot of outboard equipment wouldn't be able to accept the decoded multi-channel PCM stream anyway.

  14. That would be interesting. I DO have the Playback History plug-in installed and is what I use mostly. For this, my best case would be if the playback history for removed items deleted after a period of time, so it would appear "unplayed" again when it gets re-added a year later... And in a perfect world the customized actor information would remain in the database permanently, but be editable through the metadata manager if you wanted to remove something specific.

  15. It forces the track through the ffmpeg renderer and limits the output to two channels. Because this issue appears to be isolated to the on-board decoders on the TV devices and this bypasses them.

  19. Use NFO files saved with the media (set emby to read AND write) - these will save any customisations outside of emby - making them portable for emby to 're-use' at a later date (or others Apps to use or modify such as TMM/KODI etc ) ...

  20. If the file is MKV, the header editor in MKVToolNix; if it's not MKV, then the multiplexer in the same program to convert to MKV and select the required flags. https://mkvtoolnix.download/downloads.html For multiple MKV files, JMKVPropEdit provides a simple batch interface to the MKVToolNix header editor: https://github.com/BrunoReX/jmkvpropedit/releases Paul

  21. Hello again! From your non-response to the rest of my questions I gather that I have to wait for the next version to become stable before attempting anything. No worries! Thanks guys!

  22. Make sure you turn on debugging also before playing something on your TV and collect the log. If you can't figure out how to save the log file on your phone to post here then try pasting the information from the log on the following site and post the link it gives you here. Don't post links to your server though. https://pastebin.com/

  26. Hi, actually it does look like our tvdb season image provider is hardcoded for aired order so we'll have to take a look at that. Thanks.

  29. i don't use name resolution for emby, I use the IP address for the emby server in all apps. I did think that it might be something to do with DNS , but then i thought "why would it sit there for an hour and do nothing? When I have time (pffft!) I'll set up Wireshark and see what traffic is happening when emby runs.

  32. The basic server is free; but some facilities (e.g. hardware transcoding, live TV, and many smaller features) require Premium. To connect to a server without Premium, many clients require to be paid for - but not the web client, Roku, Apple TV, or LG or Samsung TV clients. If your TV requires an Android or Android TV client, then that is not free. However, note that: When connecting to a server with Premium, all clients can be used for free. More detailed information is in the Premium Feature Matrix which I linked above. Paul

  36. Hi! I just received my monthly receipt for emby and was reminded of this issue. Is this a Pixel specific issue? Is there an ETA for a fix?

  37. Yes, that is the basic logic that is used. Obviously, there is some sort of hole in it in some rare circumstance somewhere.

  38. Hello! A large music collection on the server lacks the ability to generate playlists for clients based on genres and music artists. This feature will allow Emby to compete with streaming services, I often listen to tracks from the Emby server on the road, but using standard playlists quickly gets boring. It will be great if the server will generate and offer me playlists from my tracks, taking into account my preferences. I have about 50 thousand tracks on the server, and listening to them in different sequence combinations will be fresh and interesting. Does the Emby team have any plans to create a similar functionality for music fans? Thank you!

  39. Currently, it is not possible to Group Audio Books into Collections. e.g.: Star Trek Voyager - Book 1 - Book 2 - Book 3 - .... The Next Generation - Book 1 - Book 2 - .... Since there are a lot of Audio-Books available, which belongs to series, it would be nice to have such a "collection" feature available - similar to the collections for movies. This could also be an interesting feature for the "books" Library...
