Another vote for simple watch list. Keep current favorites. That is different from a watch list. I use favorites for movies I know I will watch more than once. A watch list would be used to hold things I wanted to watch and not forget about. It would be removed from list after watching.2 points

One thing the streaming community hasn't done well is really create tools that allow us to simulate live TV well. I think the biggest reason that binging on Netflix (and Emby) is so popular is because you push a button and go. I'd like to see Emby create a "To Watch List" that basically allows you to sort shows into a specific order. When you watch that list, it will only play the most recent episode of each show in the list that premier inside that week. Lets pretend I made a DC TV Watch list, it would only play this weeks episode of Arrow, Flash, Legends, Supergirl and Gotham one after another. If an episode didn't premier that week, it gets skipped. Additionally, I'd like to see this system *ALSO* allow us to insert bumpers similar to Cartoon Network or Toonami. In the here and now, it would only insert bumpers between the series, but it would be nice if in the future, a system that allows some method for choosing the appropriate points between each act of an episode where bumpers could also be inserted. Bumpers would be a community thing to create, but inside the "to watch list", you'd choose what bumpers (if any) are used. Bumpers could even be surrounded by previews. Finally, another thought: while Emby already can pull Movie Trailers, it might be another cool future project if we could pull previews of related series not in the "To Watch List" and/or perhaps ones that aren't on your server that are similar to what you are watching. There's a lot of ideas in this post to digest and several should be their own project as part of this concept. Thoughts1 point

@luke. Your recommendation is sound but I need to keep my emby main server (on UNRAID) and my emby backup server (on Windows Server) in sync and I cannot do that effectively unless I use UNC pathnames because then emby remains portable and the mirroring of the backup to the main can be automated. Since 2018 I have been using this architecture very effectively (I sync on a daily basis both the emby install and media libraries from the main server to the backup) so that if the main server needs to go offline (for maintenance or whatever), I can switch at moments notice to the backup server and there is virtually no interruption in service. I have become unstuck now as for the first time, my main emby server is not a windows machine Portability has also helped in migrating between the 3 hardware platform upgrades since 2017; it becomes trivial because it is simply a matter of copying the entire emby appdata folder without any changes from one machine to the next.1 point

Great. Thanks for looking into the issue.1 point

Ok, but now we're moving to the realms of plugin development for emby and not just an extension. your source code is delightful but not setup for a plugin. I think you should take a look at tge emby.dev plugin example and create a plugin based on that.1 point

I can send a pull request on your github for some basics a bit later. So you understand how the IService works. I’m not sure how familiar you are with Emby plugin development. If your fine, just let me know1 point

How to use you can refer to this, if there is a bug, please let me know, thanks for you opinion !1 point

As an update, it is holding at ~400mb. It was still scanning the library this morning (starts at midnight), so I checked the log and it appears it is the Music library, which is one folder, that is causing the slowdown. Almost done (93%) after 9 hours. No issue though since the grandkids can still watch movies without hiccups. Was thinking of getting 16gb more ram, but now I'm thinking everything is OK. The Music folder is quite large, although I'm sure some of you have me beat.1 point

Are you creating a plugin or a new front end(client UI) The plugin infrastructure is not designed for UI development. Trying to hack the Emby components is not the way to go. You should create your own App, with ots own ClientID, deviceId, etc and authenticate each user. believe me you will have so much more control for every aspect of your UI and also you will save so much time, rather than figuring out what needs hacking in emby to get the same results. Also if emby change anything your UI breaks and you need to figure it all out again.1 point

Another reason why it is worth developing the ANisearch plugin is the description of the content. The description at anisearch is more thoughtful, wordy and in-depth than Thetvdb and IMDB. Compare Code Geass Demons Slayer Stein;gate Anisearch has besides the English also the German description. Personally, I am focused on the German. However, the English corresponds to what is written in German.1 point

Agreed - that's what I alluded to above .. The hard fact is that it is not resolving the name, meaning it's not using the correct hosts file.1 point
-
Yep I agree with that and there is enough room for this on the home screen (home/favourites/watchlist) links at the top (no need for it to be in the specified library's). The same goes for favourites, there is no need for that link to be in movies and tv shows library's. Just have the link on the home screen that lists both in one view like it already does.. same goes for watchlist.. That would save on some space for top links in both movies/tv shows.1 point

Personally I think Emby shines with it's community/support. I know it lags behind in the areas you mentioned but usually the community of plugin dev's will step up with a solution of some kind to tie us over until it gets added to core. Intro skip is a good example, the core dev's saw the potential and added it in quick smart. So yeah it's the community for me!1 point

+1, I don't see why this wasn't added years ago, just a basic list of series / movies you add that automatically get removed when you've completed them.1 point

Folks, I just got back here for a short quick update, might help someone else with same HW. I put a Quadro P400 card (fits perfectly) into the server, and OMG! It really makes a difference! No words for it. Multi100 MBps 4K HEVC hugeFPS videos downconverting to few10MBps FHD consumable on portable devices and remote locations. All done in realtime, without lagging, pretty sweet. I just love it Thank you Emby Team!1 point

Thanks, That's your workaround for now, and the issue is resolved in the upcoming 4.8 release.1 point

Good day, Moderators are our team that can mod's all forums, as for forum mod's that can manage and moderate at some selected forum/forums, most of them are a dev or plug dev's personal, so they can manage the forum/s they are interesting in. My best1 point

Hi, as a test, if you remove your pictures library from emby server, does that resolve the issue?1 point

That look's like a earlier version to what I'm using (2.4.0.1). The 3dot menu in the latest version has few options (add smart playlist, export playlist, import playlist)1 point

Hey @Luke Apologies for the late reply, ended up needing to go out yesterday arvo and then didn't get back until late. And now, well, don't I fell like a numpty! That did the trick I did originally uninstall / reinstall the app on the ShieldTV, but obviously, did so via the Play Store. So is the APK direct from the website different somehow is it? I didn't even realise the APK was there Oh well, I'll add that to my bag of tricks for troubleshooting next time. Thanks again Luke. I've tested playing all of the problematic movies I know of and they all play back now. Kind regards, Dodgy Bob1 point

Thanks for the quick reply I decided to build a budget madvr, parts will be coming in over the next few weeks. Bought everything used to save some money. Only new parts will be the silverstone case and power supply. Geforce RTX 3080 10gb GPU, Black Magic capture card, asrock z390 motherboard, 9th gen i7 processor, 32gb ram. I'll have about $1,200 in everything and will use it between my shield and epson 5040ub projector on a cinema scope screen. Cool thing it's supposed to do auto-aspect ratio and linear stretch. I can set the lens position and not have to mess with it again.1 point

No, if you replace the dashboard-ui files, that comes from the server. I'm not sure how it would affect all client apps, but it would affect ALL client apps not just the web. This is new territory for us, so you would have to try it yourself and find out. It would be handy to other developers if you report your findings. You might have to change more than the login page and store a persistent "session". I have not done this, so my help can only be limited.1 point

There was one other odd item. I first setup the current Beta version of Emby server for Freebsd and everything worked fine except the live TV option I could see for just a second on the home page and then the movies overtyped it. couldn't access. I ended up installing a new Openvpn jail and installed the current release version and all working fine. (I did save my emby premier key and it confirmed it was accepted)1 point

Hi mate, there should be a little 3dot icon (top right) in the smart playlist plugin. Hopefully that should do the trick.1 point

I ran another test with a non-HDR video media and PGS subtitles : the colour / style is rendered as expected So, the root cause for this greyish subtitles' colour seems to be the Apple TV not passing the HDR signal when playing an .mkv file1 point

On the movie page there is a favorite button and a watched button. It would be nice if they could at a watch list button. Very convenient. Zero downside1 point
