  1. Don't sell yourself short Dave - you did all the work on the Chapters and many other aspects too ...

  2. I think you are correct, the plugin is great and just works, some epic work from @chef& @samuelqwe yup, lets leave it and we can host the dll on Github public repo

  3. tbh Dave - I don't think we are going to get an agreeable solution until the Core step up with the Core Introskip allowing the Plugin to be fully decommissioned. Currently it's been partially implemented (still no editing for example) and I don't see that changing anytime soon. By trying to 'fill the gaps', we are just making work for ourselves. If you want full Introskip, Creditskip, Editing and nice looking Chapters - use the Introskip Plugin (+ Chapter API if you wish) If you want Core Introskip only - then use the Core Introskip (+ Chapter API if you wish)

  6. I had a huge problem with stuttering when panning all of a sudden. I went from rasberry Pi/Kodi (no stuttering) to Nvidia Shield, Chromecast 4k and Firestick 4K clients. I thought it was something in the new clients or bandwidth issues so I bought ethernet adaptors, ran temporary ethernet cables through the apartment (GF loves that). Nothing fixed it. It was not every movie but some were really bad. Even a slow pan over the bridge in Star Trek TNG stuttered every 2-3 seconds.... One day I was browsning through my Samsung QLED TV's picture settings and turned off I think it was "Motion Plus" something. Love and behold no more stuttering at all. I have absolutely no idea why it was affecting some movies and even if the panning was really slow. And why didn't I experience this with my Raspberries... I talked to my users and they found similar settings in their tv's that made the stuttering disappear. Looks like the Motion Settings is too aggressive by default. Something to try out..

  7. Having collections gets very confusing for some of my users because if they have their library set to sort by "date added" in order to show the newest movies first, they will not see some of the latest movies because they were added to an existing collection. Sorting by "date added" just sorts by the date the collection was created. Would it be possible to sort collections by "Date of last addition" or something similar? I like the collections feature, but when the newest movies "disappear" into a collection down the list somewhere it makes it confusing for many users.

  8. Pretty simple suggestion. I have multiple users for my Emby server. If I want to do continuous maintenance on the media, I have to tell everyone. some of them are harder to reach than others ( i.e. no Facebook or Skype chat etc. ) It would be great if say... on the admin panel, I could hit a check box that enables 'maintenance mode', where the server still runs does everything as normal, but instead of the login screen it displays a maintenance page saying the server is unavailable. Even better if I were able to directly put a reason in a text box that would then display on the login screen as well. Not really sure what others would think of this, but for me it would be quite helpful. mostly if I want to make sure no one is trying to access content I know won't work until I've done a full library scan again. Thanks for reading. -Kyle

  9. Poster Overlay GUI A simple Windows Forms application that allows users to add 4K Ultra HD Banners to their movie posters. About: Firstly, I know that we have the coverart plugin but I prefer having a cleaner look with multiple options for my 4k library. I started making this app a few weeks ago with absolutely zero knowledge in coding, this entire project was built through using chatgpt to guide me into building, modifying and editing the code through lots of trial and error. I'm more than open to suggestions to improve and or add to the project (such as more banner options etc). Features: Choose from multiple overlay images (4k Ultra HD, with HDR, with DV, With HDR and IMAX and with DV and Imax) Preview the combined result Save the resulting image as a new file How to Use: Download and extract the PosterOverlay_v1.0.0.zip file from github. Run the PosterOverlay.exe file to launch the application. Click on the "Select Poster" button to choose the base image (poster). Use the dropdown box to select an overlay image. Preview the result in the main window. Click "Save Poster" to save the resulting image to your computer. Prerequisites: .NET 6.0 Runtime is required to run the application. Please download and install the appropriate version for your operating system. GitHub Link: https://github.com/pejamas/Poster-Overlay-GUI

  10. Hi, Thank you for the great product. It is a pleasure to use it. I have seen some posts but they are years ago regarding my request. Is there a plan to have notification (when adding movies, shows, live tv etc.) from the emby app ? This means to get a push message on my android phone, iphone, windows app, etc. With 3rd party software its not so cool. Thank you.

  12. Everyone has been very clear about how they feel about SSDs in this thread. There are other aspects of a new system to discuss.

  13. the biggest improvement per unit spent you can make to a PC running emby server is to put the OS and server on an SSD. its not just boot time. everything is significantly faster.

  17. The issue with the plugin is that it futzes with the existing chapter structure. And also that it's not available anymore, because of the introduction of the core version, which is nowhere near as good and hasn't received any development in...how long now?

  20. AV1 in general is a tricky one at the moment, since getting a 4K Max and Cube Gen 3 I've had no end of issues with AV1 being detected as being able to be played back via Hardware Decoding, it either transcodes to H264 or enables software decoding which then juddering occurs. As far as your HEVC file which is much more supported, it's the DTS-HD audio that wasn't on your device. So it all depends what you want, AV1 should work eventually with Emby properly with devices that support it, however HEVC is much better supported (and the default codec for 4K), the Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 although doesn't support AV1 it does support pretty much every audio codec you throw at it and it also has a Gigabit Ethernet port so that high bitrate 4K (HEVC/H265) files aren't an issue.

  25. FYI, i had reported a while back that Roku Emby was crashing when trying to use Playlist channels. I just solved my problem by going into the plugin settings and changing: Playback options --> Playlist playback mode --> Intro Video container --> "ts" (previously it was Mp4) after I did that no more crashing!

  26. Thanks. So from what I am reading, I am SOL with this file. I would HIGHLY recommend since you stated it cant be transcoded due to the missing tonemap in Profile 5 DV, Emby give out an error and not play it, otherwise Emby will get blamed I wasnt blaming Emby since I tried it in VLC and even handbrake had it looking like crap. But my bet with Apple putting out more videos with this profile, its going to be more prevalent.. Scott

  28. Sorry, I missed your initial post somehow. New plugin registrations can sometimes take a few hours/day before they're fully settled on Emby's side, so that's probably what was going on. Thanks for registering.

  30. Regarding this: When episode is finished it shows watched for a blink, then the 'update' flash notice top of screen back w/emby server and it's back to unwatched. Setting it to watched after that does seem to 'stick'... Sounds like you've already got a handle on this one, just an FYI in case it's helpful.

  33. It may be that the network uses some enterprise equipment which can restrict devices on the same network from talking to each other (but allowing the gateway, of course). This would be an obvious security measure in a public place like a hotel with lots of strangers sharing a subnet. I know switches can be made to do this; I suppose wi-fi can too, but it's outside my experience. If this is the case, you're stuffed. (Late night musing: I wonder if you could get anywhere by enabling the hotspot in your phone and connecting the laptop directly to that - probably not, but may be worth a try). Paul

  35. Nice explanation @visproduction I would suggest taking a known bad example - and then go back to the original source (if possible) and analyse what it 'should be' using MediaInfo. It is probably better to leave the framerate 'as is' (rip it raw, no encoding) and see if your TV displays it ok. If yes, then you can either leave it like that - or if you wish to encode to reduce filesize etc - then you need to go through the process (on an individual basis + testing) to ensure the settings you have chosen work well. Interlaced recording will bring a whole new set of challenges - so things could get interesting haha. Sites like www.doom9.org have hundreds of thousands of posts about such things () so it's an entire industry as vis has said above ..

  36. @visproductionpretty much hit it on the head. It's highly possible that your devices are forcing the playback to be whatever your tv's frame rate is, and your devices are not setup to do automatic refresh rate switching, where as the WDTV is. It's not an emby problem per se, it's refresh rate problem and quite possibly also bad mastering on dvd's where 2:3 pulldown was either done improperly, or is not being respected. This is typically a problem that is unique to dvd's and the "new fangled" HDTV's as most mfg don't give a flying F about SD content and all it's quirks.

  38. I'm not sure what music apps you are comparing to but I get it. However I feel like I need to be more pushy and make my case.. I hope you are not comparing Emby with Spotify or YouTube Music, which literally hate free choice. The great thing about Emby and other private servers is that it does not lead you to penny tracks via trash algorithm. But personally I only use Emby and Logitec Media Server ... and below is what LMS looks like when I click on the song in a queue. And I can look at other songs without interrupting the music. Come on that is awesome. I can also click onthe album genre, year, and even the image. There are also controls on the play queue song item "play, remove from queue, and M is for more, the default.. which shows the song file details. The (I guess) more popular skin "material" in LMS has the default of showing this submenu as a default. Anyway, I'm not sure what kind of person takes the time to have a home music server but I would assume they are a little bit like me, and not a casual music listener.

  40. Hi there! So, perhaps a second web server instance which spins up on the Emby ports to host a maintenance page, or maintenance data? Would we host the page at "system/info" since all clients hit that endpoint before anything else? Would that even work?
