This is ET and this is the Android (non-tv) app and this is the web app etc.. Even though the look and feel is so completely different, it is all driven by the Emby client app code. Adaptions are made at the presentation layer only - but here with strong focus on details, especially scrolling, keyboard, mouse and remote-control behavior. Also, rich UI presentation is prioritized over compatibility with mid- to low-range devices. When a device is too weak to handle it, then it won't be able to use it. This needs to be kept in mind when comparing with the regular Emby themes, which are made to run on every little box. I'm glad to see that it will sell as something brand-new. The only thing that's really built from scratch is the New on-screen keyboard OSK_Elevation.mp43 points

TheTVDB now supports more alternative orders than just Aired/Absolute/DVD. Can Emby query these additional orders and add them as options? Two examples of shows I've seen this used are Re:Zero which has a "Director's Cut" display order and Money Heist which has a "Netflix" order. https://thetvdb.com/series/re-zero-starting-life-in-another-world https://thetvdb.com/series/la-casa-de-papel2 points

External audio tracks are working on Kodi with Embycon. I tried it myself with these files: Weathering With You (2019).51ch.mka Weathering With You (2019).mkv Weathering With You (2019).ass I can select the 5.1 sound track while watching on Kodi. People have been talking about this for five years and no progress. Choose Kodi and Embycon!2 points

Android Automotive. Not to be confused with Android Auto. "As compared to Android Auto, Android Automotive is a full operating system that can power the entire experience when driving. It’s installed on the head unit available in the cabin, so it’s in charge of everything from the moment you turn on the engine to the one when you leave the car. -AutoEvolution.com" I have Android Automotive in my Polestar 2. And while its not as popular as Android Auto yet, its pretty impressive. Its gaining more traction too. I hear GMC, Cadillac and many others are using it now too. Emby, please add a compatible app for Android Automotive in the google play store. Are there any plans for this?1 point

I would like to have the ability to check if a movie is already in my library before scheduling a recording in the DVR. The only way to do it now is to make a search. This mean going from on screen to another. It is already possible to not record an episode of a serie that already exist in the library. A similar option should be available for movie, One suggestion is to have a seach display on screen when scheduling the recording of a movie, in order to inform if the movie is already in the library or not. Hope this help!1 point

I often want to know the date I last played something but there's no way of finding out in the web interface. I know the date is stored somewhere as you can sort by Date Played. Please make it visible in the metadata or on the itemdetails page.1 point

Hi, yea that's coming from Discogs I believe. The Discogs plugin will need to be updated to strip that information. This is a view of what's in your library, not what's on the internet. So for example, when I click on Justin Timberlake I see he appears on the Trolls soundtrack because he's listed as an artist on one of the tracks, but he's not the album artist. So that's what the Appears On section shows.1 point

Emby is not detecting it correctly, for me all DV movies are recorgnized as HDR10 but they all play fine and the tv activates DV1 point

HI, no they haven't stopped this. The fact that you're not getting them could be due to installing from the store, your date/time being set incorrectly on the TV, or perhaps I just forgot to enable that when I packaged 1.5.1. In any event, newer versions are available now.1 point

Fair point, but I just noticed this starting yesterday, never had a problem before. I didn't have enough characters available for the topic title to make it more clear that this is specifically for when you suddenly start noticing this since 1 or 2 days ago when you hadn't had a problem before. I didn't see any recent topics regarding this, so I thought I'd share and save people some time I noticed the browsers affected where updated exactly at the time the problems started happening. When I finally got files playing it noticed insane stutter, when accessing the files from an external location, nothing would even load at all. Some of the behavior that occurred made me look into stuff that's not even related too, so if someone has this since 1 or 2 days, might be worth to test this setting out. Before you go crazy looking into so many different weird things you get lost in your research. Everything looked like this was network/https related, since the behavior was different when accessing from inside or outside my network. It was really odd. But I'm happy I found this, shared this with some of my users that experienced the same issue too, solved it for them as well, happy camper all around over here1 point

See, I thought as a lifetime premium subscriber that you'd at least massage my ego a bit and ask me how my day is going rather than just telling me the exact solution .. (Once my brain started working I realised exactly where you meant. Thankyou!)1 point

If you are going to use the other pc as an nas with drivepool. You just need a mini pc, like a Nuc, or another mini pc, you can easily fine some refurbished. or you could also finde an laptop with a broken screen, they are pretty cheap on e-bay. Go for an i5 11-12 gen, the igpu is amazing for transcoding. If you use transcoding. Some of them run idel at 15w so you will may by also save some $$ on electricity.1 point

Yeah Euphoria and Godskitchen... miss those days... dance music is just a load of resampled melodies from that era now... nothing is really new... I'll give Fisher his credit, he's created a pretty nice style for the new age, and even David Guetta and Morten are reviving a similar style to Euphoria and Godskitchen with their "New Rave" style. There is hope for us fossils yet!! LOL1 point

sp**ff politics. yep remember it well . its funny i havent seen the movie for probably ten years now but immediately on seeing the image for the vid you posted i knew exactly what music was playing in the background. used to watch it regularly as prep for an evening out or winding down afterwards And immediately after replying to your post i thought of kevin and perry too, slightly more commercial music than human traffic but still a brilliant sound track1 point

No, Samsung phones run on Android. Only Samsung TVs and older Samsung watches run tizen1 point

Yes that is the only option with Your NAS due to the CPU, To be 100% Honest you will struggle to transcode anything on that NAS as it is not powerful enough for 1080p or above. But to confirm, can you play fine using the local network, but trying to connect remotely it fails. Also what internet connection speed do you have. have you tried a lower quality video say a 480p and a 720p to see if they work, it could be how the video is encoded forcing it to transcode.1 point

Love it ! - I so missed the screen candy of WMC. When emby eventually force me from AndroidTV - it looks like this and possibly ET are going to be the only options for my mainstream Theatre player. Hopefully this can do Direct File play as well .. Amazing work @softworkz1 point

I remember reading somewhere that having "Dolby Sound Processing" option disabled in the Advanced Audio Settings could cause this. However, I also remember reading that one wants to have it disabled as it converts DD+ to DD. @Jrod696, maybe you can check if you have that disabled? https://www.reddit.com/r/ShieldAndroidTV/comments/vjy6ls/why_does_nvidia_say_enable_dolby_audio_processing/1 point

Just turn off WIndows updates. I'm still running Win8 on my desktop and Win7 on my laptop. Every time Windows upgrades they break something so I have just adopted the policy, "If it's not broke, don't fix it". I know there are some in the security arena that would cringe hard at this, but if your an experienced user, you rarely get viruses (I've had 2 in close to 40 years), and when you do, you can handle removing them. If you're that paranoid about it, though, you really should have a dedicated machine setup just for that software. Trying to maintain the firewall like you have mentioned, and still have the computer be functional for much anything else, will be a nightmare of an admin task. Then again, another thought, your router *SHOULD* have a log somewhere that shows rejected/block requests. When you are trying to do something with Emby, or anything else for that matter, you could check this log for hosts that it's trying to reach.1 point

Yes Smart Playlists are definitely on the cards which is essentially what My Mix feature is. I have no idea how they should work but, here is my thinking.... user can create them from a set of Match Conditions..... at least on of the below must be enabled. Select Genre(s) - (optional) Select Artist(s) - optional Select Composer(s) - optional Select Number of tracks to add or leave as Infinite Alternatively if a user is listening to a track and fancies that style of music, then there will be a button in the UI to create a Smart playlist from the currently playing track. Backup restore should be fairly straight forward. iOS and Android will have this built in, i just need to learn how to utilise this. Windows would be easy also.1 point

Just in the few minutes I was using the app there is no way I would transition, the one feature I stumbled across though that was nice is I could get to the server dashboard from the TV, I wish the android TV app had that option but that is probably a whole new thread lol One thing I did notice between the two apps was the way it skipped forward, the standard app seemed to be hard skip, I dont know really know how to explain it but there was a clear difference in the way it skipped forward.1 point

Yeah, for sure you can - that's the reason, I've added it here. If it's the Linuxserver.io docker, there should be no additional than these below. As i stated before, i recommend using the "User Scripts" plugin: 1. Install the plugin from the community appstore 2. Add a entry for the script to it (After creating a new entry, click the wheel icon and then "Edit Script", paste the script and save the changes) 3. Set your cronjob interval (the one in the screenshot is every 10 minutes) and click apply 4. Leave as is and wait or click the run button to test it now Greetings Dark1 point

I have written an app (Media Manager) that will scan your folder, and give a list of media that needs transcoding (depending on your settings) then run ffmpeg to do the transcoder. The default is H265 + adding a 5.1 AAC as the default audio channel1 point

Not exactly new here but.....Mid 50's male, started with media servers long ago with Squeezebox's. Found a great forum friend who encouraged re purposing an old PC (I was the I fix PC's guy so I end up being given older stuff sometimes) and set up Ubuntu linux. Not searching through hundreds of disks for the song you want? Being able to set up a playlist and go play poker for the night at the neighbours with music no one wanted to change? Magic. Through a few different devices that played iso's, massive storage needs, and changing hardware, I added the other guys media server to my linux box and started ripping. Things progressed well and through a planned series of hardware upgrades I came to where I could play my media without disks. Then when things needed another round of updating - Covid, and just as lock down started I had some problems and just after losing my job I found out I have had a severe complex anxiety disorder for the last 45 years. Because of that - no work and started the process of getting handicap benefits. Long story short I was stuck with the other guys server because I had not needed to upgrade my server for a while as I had no need to transcode. So I ended up stuck with an old TV, an under powered server, and the other guys software as the only way to play high quality audio without transcoding. A bunch of stuff with my benifits and all that got fixed in January and I had opportunity after my tax return to update my server hardware and TV. Thank god...The other guys have been adding volume normalization and stuff and turning it on by default when you update. I had started looking for another media server and had messed around with Emby finding it to be far better suited to my needs than the other guys. Really it is. The last last straw for the other guys was when I upgraded server hardware for the millionth time, my Looney Tunes collection would not match. Simply because they don't want to use TheTVDB (the sole and only accurate meta source) after someone at P#$x got in a pi$$ing match with them over something stupid AND they changed the options for fixing it that were posted on their own forums. So cheers and many thanks to the Emby team for building what the other guys should and could have been.......1 point

I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!! to the emby team! Back in 2016 or so I gave up and tried plex...worked great for watching stuff away from home and on the phone but having been a huge fan of XBMC it wasn't easy for me. Time went by and plex kept adding crap I don't care about and couldn't remove (not easily, if possible) and then I ran across an old emby file and decided to check it out. HOLY COW you guys have kicked butt on this!!! If I remember right, it's free too?? No way I'm gonna not pay for this but the option to still use it when I need it most (if I lose my job or some other catastrophe) is so awesome ❤ The ways emby is better than plex are so many Please PLEASE don't go so corporate or sell out like they did Thank you again everyone!1 point

Yea, it's not something that can be "sold" as a feature. You are "the one guy" who says: But all others will say: "Hey the feature isn't working, audio and video are out of sync!"1 point

Thanks for your detailed explanation. I haven't encountered any issues with the Rifftrax media, but I understand what you're driving at as this being an impractical general solution.1 point

Hey @Happy2Play, thanks for sharing the information above.. it is certainly useful to have. but it does not address the need I am bringing up.. allow me to explain... As you already know, Emby used to be called MediaBrowser... and the word Browser is key here... Imagine the following.. you are sitting with family and "Browsing" for the next movie to watch, then you stop at this "good movie" that has a played tick on it, and you ask yourself and others, when did I/we watched this movie (so it is a social thing of great value), and all you have to do is open said item, and just below the picture it said, "Played on 27/11/2017", and you turn around and say "oohh yeah.. we watched this on thanksgiving 5 years ago.. do you remember blah blah blah.." This makes Emby a powerful tool as a memory and conversation starter and it gives Emby a powerful emotional connection to its users.1 point

Hi there, recent Plex refugee (6+ years with Lifetime sub) and I just wanted to pass along a few random, specific things that irritated me with Plex and I've found to be standout improvements in Emby, for others who might be considering it. A big thank you to the development team for getting these things right! Installing a custom SSL cert on Linux - painless and simple, requires voodoo on Plex. Multi-episode files - what witchcraft is this that Emby properly understands and treats these as multiple episodes but a single playback item! In-season specials sorted correctly within seasons - Examples include the Battlestar Galactica Miniseries and movies, and Babylon 5 - Thirdspace. This is a big improvement for us, we seem to have a number of these shows. Everything subtitles - my wife prefers subtitles on all the time, and for whatever reason I could not get this working 100% reliably with all of our media on her Roku. Subtitles in general on Plex felt clunky outside of the web app. Emby has already passed the wife test on this - simple to use on the fly, and the "Always show" per-user setting does what it says. User management and licensing - comprehensive and flexible. Everything Plex user management is not. Ability to simply give one of the kids their login information without them needing to either go create a plex account or call me to authorize a new device as a managed user. Combined with the "the server you are connect to has paid, you're good" licensing option for the mobile apps it's not a contest with Plex. Same with restricting content for the little ones in a situation where you can't count on content rating metadata (or where you disagree with the rating), I found it far easier and faster to define exactly what their user profiles could and couldn't access than on Plex. The various options to hide users on login screens - brilliant and massively useful. Those are probably the biggest unexpected things that I found to be unequivocal upgrades over Plex, that had I known about a few in particular I wouldn't have waited for Plex to annoy me with their bad behavior to switch.1 point

Remuxing it may take a while if the input files are big, but not as long as you might think, besides Remuxing doesn't affect at all the quality of the original file, it just changes the container its comparable to the time that it takes to copy the files from a folder to another. May be you are thinking of encoding the file that would take a lot of time and might degrade the original video quality. Enviado desde mi Inco Aurora II mediante Tapatalk1 point
