Having collections gets very confusing for some of my users because if they have their library set to sort by "date added" in order to show the newest movies first, they will not see some of the latest movies because they were added to an existing collection. Sorting by "date added" just sorts by the date the collection was created. Would it be possible to sort collections by "Date of last addition" or something similar? I like the collections feature, but when the newest movies "disappear" into a collection down the list somewhere it makes it confusing for many users.

I recently found a need to look up additional information on a director. I was hoping to look at the director's profile and see not only the movies I had in my collection but also a list of other movies that they have directed. This would be displayed below the library's current movies. ex: My movies: Movie 1, Movie 2 Other movies by this person: Movie 3, Movie4 ================ This could help one expand their library and to discover a missing gem.

I'd really like to have 2 Factor Authentication added to the login screen. It's just this (optional) extra layer of security to help secure the server (which, especially if people use camera uploads) contains pretty private data. There are for every type of programming language quite a few libraries available, so implementation on a server shouldn't be too hard to realise

This is for Emby Theater for Tizen and iOS. It seems all these recent updates are to “clean up” the OSD etc. Well, there is tons of room now that you have removed the poster from the video details screen, so can we please get the “Ends at” time back on details? Makes absolutely no sense that that it was removed in the first place. I realize it can be seen after the video is playing by pressing down to get to video info but the whole point is to see if you have time to watch the video BEFORE you start it! Seems pretty straightforward. thx!

Hi, I'm one of (I presume) many people using emby from a bi/trilingual background, and as such have TV Shows that often have more than one audio track (German / English / Japanese in my case). You can set your preferred languages for Audio Tracks in emby of course, but I would like to see this expanded a bit: It would be awesome, if you could set the default language for a Movie / TV Show / Season seperately on a per-user basis. For example, I might have a show with a German and an English Audio track, and our defaults are set to German (the language spoken in our household), but I personally might prefer to watch this particular show in English and my Wife and kids in German - right now I have to change the language every time I start a new episode, and it would be awesome to be able to save my preferences for the whole show attached to my user. Also, this could (and should) be extended to subtitles and display of the same - it would be awesome to have Anime shown in German to my family, but to me, in Japanese with enabled subtitles (embedded in the video), but disabled for them watching in German. Just my 2cents to make emby more enjoyable for a broader target audience - and thank you for your hard work!

It seems to me that Emby has progressively removed features over the years. I discovered recently that I can no longer view my movies by Studio (this seems to be a recent change). Viewing by Actor was removed quite some time ago (https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/26944-missing-a-menu-option/). Can these features please be re-implemented? And can y'all PLEASE put in the changelog when a feature has been disabled or removed so that the end user can determine if upgrading will remove functionality previously depended on? Thx!

You can but there's no need to embed them, just place srt file next to your media, named exactly same as video file, i.e. <videofilename>.en.srt. https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159160-subtitles

I want the people and studios back too - i would also like to add characters to people for roles played , but I doubt that will ever happen. Suugestions tab for me, is a worse idea than People, I dont use folders tab either As this thread is from 2017 and there is continual/repeating reasons why its not there - it seems that it probably wont happen , at least not anytime soon. Alas for me Emby is slowly loosing its appeal / flair ....

Hi. Okay, then it is not due to the audio format but, rather, that the item didn't play when we tried to direct play it. Can you please play that item for a few seconds and then follow the instructions to send a log from the app? Thanks.

If you don't need Quicksync then no, you don't need to do that. Regarding which mode to put the GPU, in my experience it makes absolutely no difference but your mileage may vary, I have it in QuTS mode right now.

Hi. We are just using "standard" to mean the regular Premiere subscription. There are also extended device subscriptions (which are linked on the main page). We will look at trying to clarify it. Thanks.

Now that we have the ability to identify HDR type as HDR or DV in the latest betas, can this sort filter be added?

As far as I can see, that video is not the original video being played, but a screen capture (made using Snagit, as shown by MediaInfo) showing the effect. Paul

You'd have to just implement IDynamicImageProvider.

Although, it does need to be updated to the direct link, and not via a Github jump.

I believe a solution is in the pipeline but so are many things.

Others with more experience can comment, but I believe the Shield is still the go to device for maximum compatibility. By default, the Samsung Emby app will convert both DTS and TrueHD and although they should be able to be sent at full rate via eARC, I don’t believe anyone has proven that Samsung or LG have allowed apps to send these formats. I’m out of town until the end of the week, but if you don’t get a satisfactory response from others then I can connect my receiver to my 2022 model and see what I can get to work. Apart from UI differences and DV, these audio formats are probably the only real differences to the Shield. I believe the Shield might also natively play graphical subs such as PGS without conversion if that is important to you

Hi Luke, Thank you for replying. You can mark this as solved. It was due to my Truenas Scale install crashing. I guess that the user profile specific information was what was erased every crash for some reason. At the time it was this was the only profile, but I have since had much success with it since I figured out my crashing issue. At the time it didn't seem like it corresponded due to sometimes going missing when it didn't crash, but that could have just been the app itself failing because of the bad install. Again thank you for your time.

Custom ratings act as an 'override' of Parental Ratings and as such should be in the same format, else Emby will treat them as "unrecognized" and basically there'll be very little use for them (except if per-user option "Block items with no or unrecognized rating information" is selected). 'Custom' there doesn't mean 'Enter whatever provisional term you fancy' (though you can, with above restrictions applied) but customize existing rating with higher/lower tier.

Just an update on my side. After 2 days of being free of deceptive site warnings, my dinamic dns provider - dynu.com - dropped support for all my domains redirects. My domain names do not get resolved anymore and i cant reach my server from outside of my home network. While submitting a ticket with dynu they asked me about the google search console messages about my servers. This is awful. Is there anyway to find out what is generating the initial issue? I need to stop this because i am using multiple services behind my domain.

I think what we'll do is just remove those from the built-in web app.

Emby should make it so I can just connect to Alexa without all this hassle of creating an SSL certificate. Like Plex does, for example. What a headache!

I spoke too soon. Changing the brightness was working for me, but it's back to being unable to be changed during playback. Nilsb7 is correct.
