  4. @LukeI would love to see the option to have say an advanced config or even just a normal field which you could override content-type so we can support other external notification services over a webhook. I think this could be a good option to not break anything for existing users but still allow people to use other options such as discord.

  5. First I wanna say thanks for your work on this. Second. Why am I getting a trailer for the movie I’m about to watch playing first every time I watch a movie? Multiple users on my server report the same thing. Again, thanks for your time.

  7. I just pulled emby/embyserver:beta running Version 4.8.0.28 beta, and added --device=/dev/dri:/dev/dri as additional requirements. That did nothing. Added "18" to GIDLIST. That did nothing. Then I added /dev/dri as a host device.. that worked! So it seems like the stable version is lacking some sort of support for this CPU? Can't wait for the beta to turn stable!! As a bonus, it also seems to be able to direct stream HEVC in Chrome.

  8. Hi @LukeDo you think you'd consider adding an checkbox to "Not ask me about updates for 30 days" to the dialog box that pops up at the start of each run for the Samsung Tizen app? I'm a user outside of the US (in NZ), and i have to install mine from the USB stick CC @JohnWhitmore

  10. I couldn't imagine buying hardware right now based on whether or not it can natively handle AV1. The whole thing doesn't make sense, honestly. I realize it's the new thing right now, but it's so early that it's just... not worth it yet. Look, AVC is still the dominant standard. Why? Almost everything made in the last 10 years supports it on hardware. We're still working on wider HEVC adoption, and it's still a pretty fine standard for high-quality video. The big problem here is the cost for entry. For whatever reason, AVC caught on quick. Right place, right time? I dunno. HEVC is pretty awesome on paper, but isn't at all at the level of adoption of AVC (I'm going to paraphrase the Wikipedia article, and the specific sentence is now 4 years old, but it'll give you a sense). The aforementioned Wikipedia article states that, as of September 2019, "91% of video industry developers" are still using AVC. I expect there has been some movement on that number since, but nothing that would tip the scales away from AVC. Why didn't HEVC catch on like AVC? Dunno. Hardware availability? Apathy? Could be any of a bunch of things, or a combination thereof. Probably it was a conscious decision to target the widest selection of devices. Therein lies the problem. The install base for AV1 capable hardware and users who are CONSUMING that AV1 content is incredibly low. I can't possibly give you numbers, but I'd wager it's statistically irrelevant. That's why I personally have no intention of moving away from AVC/HEVC any time soon. It literally doesn't make sense to try and target AV1 or VVC content. And I'm certainly not going out of my way to spend money on hardware to actually play it, for what is essentially a side-grade right now. AV1 is just a buzzword right now. It's more marketing term than actual feature.

  12. If you use a file manager in your OS to search by file type and then sort by file name, similar media should be grouped together and you can see their file locations. If you have thousands of files to check, you could copy / paste the list into Excel and do an 'if' function to check for identical names. File names in Column A. Enter this formula in B2 =if(A2=A1,"duplicate","") Excel allows you to drag that formula down to thousand of lines at once. You could then sort by Column B and all the dupes would show up together. These two steps would take perhaps 2 minutes to do 10,000+ files, once you know how to do it. Hope that helps.

  17. I tried the new version and it still isn't working. I think for me there's an issue with recursive search. If I'm in a list of songs that have the string "explicit" it returns results, but if I'm at a level up, at the album level, it returns nothing.

  20. Linux doesn't recognize UNC paths so if you think it's worth trying then mount the shares on the client host and enter those client side paths in the optional field. This might do it IF Emby passes the value to the client and doesn't try to validate or muck with it in some way.

  21. The filtering is actually done by Emby - the plugin just creates the string to add to the URL so that Emby knows to search and what to search for - I will log to the console this string so you can see whats going on vic

  22. Hi, it's not really useful to add an option like this as the 30 day limit is forced by Samsung. At some time, soon after the 30 day warning the app will stop loading until it is updated. Unfortunately we can't control this, so hiding the update notice is only a very short term fix.

  27. Yes as items are tracked by providerid, not path, so as far as Emby is concerned all of those are one and the same item. To have a single entry in CW row, you need to use multi-versioning feature, in either of three ways: 1) Put all different versions in the same folder and follow naming convention for multi-version movies https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159102-movie-naming 2) Multi-select and select "Group Versions" in three-dot menu 3) Use community-made Auto-Grouping plugin

  31. Cheers mate, there is a "recursive search=true" option in the filter settings but that made no diff. Thanks for taking a look, I'm sure you and Vic will get it sorted.

  32. Ok Guys, i can reproduce the issue. it also appears that the filter is only applied to the current page your are on and doesn't recursively search (drill down levels), i'm not sure if this is intentional or not. I'll have a chat with Vic when he gets up. But for me it would make sense to be a recursive search, especially for TV shows and Music, where there are likely to be many nested items to search for. Thanks for your feedback, helpful as always.

  35. You solved it indirectly. I extracted the zipped up system folder to d:\emby. Thus my shortcut is fine BUT there is some coding restriction that requires emby to be launched in a folder called system. It can have any parent folder, but the app must be in system folder. So I created an empty parent called emby. Now my app is in d:\emby\system and now my programdata is in d:\emby. This is exactly where i would have chosen to put it anyway. BTW: Here is a snippet of my log file. You can see that for whatever reason, it was putting data in d:\programdata (which now makes sense) 2023-03-30 20:08:39.136 Info Main: Transcoding temporary files path: D:\programdata\transcoding-temp 2023-03-30 20:08:39.137 Info Main: Tray icon path: D:\Emby\embytray 2023-03-30 20:08:39.311 Info App: Application version: 4.7.11.0 2023-03-30 20:08:39.312 Info App: Loading assemblies 2023-03-30 20:08:40.471 Info App: File D:\programdata\plugins\AudioDb.dll has version 1.0.18.0 2023-03-30 20:08:40.483 Info App: File D:\Emby\plugins\AudioDb.dll has version 1.0.16.0 2023-03-30 20:08:40.495 Info App: File D:\programdata\plugins\BlurayMounter.dll has version 1.0.0.0 2023-03-30 20:08:40.499 Info App: File D:\Emby\plugins\BlurayMounter.dll has version 1.0.0.0 2023-03-30 20:08:40.501 Info App: File D:\programdata\plugins\DvdMounter.dll has version 1.0.0.0 2023-03-30 20:08:40.504 Info App: File D:\Emby\plugins\DvdMounter.dll has version 1.0.0.0 2023-03-30 20:08:41.710 Info App: File D:\programdata\plugins\Emby.Dlna.dll has version 1.0.95.0 2023-03-30 20:08:41.718 Info App: File D:\Emby\plugins\Emby.Dlna.dll has version 1.0.91.0 Thanks for hanging in there and solving this.

Thats prolly over a million of files asking for information...information that the rest of the world can get for free, but because of people like you will probably not be available without a fee in the future. I really wish that somebody knocks on your door and wants to see the license for every single file you have...

  41. Hi All, I know I am kind of late to the party, but I made a Youtube Video for people who are having this issue: I live in Canada and my TV Model Number is QN65Q900RBFXZC (Region is Canada). Unfortunately the Emby App is not available in my Region, so at this point the only workaround was to change the Region to "United States" and after that I was able to install the Emby App form the Samsung store without the Expiration Issue. I can confirm that all my Apps (Netflix, Amazon Video, Youtube) are working without issue. Link to to my Youtube Video if anyone is interested: Thanks.

  42. It is simply a popup message. "Metadata editor error". But I have had it for about 3 months, until then it had no influence on the synchronization. After the reinstallation I no longer have this message. After all attempts were unsuccessful to integrate the Emby server back into Kodi, I now use the EmbyCon addon. Works, but is not what I wanted. And there is now also an error message at the start and end of a movie or series: "EmbyCon error". But it works.

  46. We all would love to have HEVC transcoding, but it comes with it's own set of problems as explained. However, that doesn't mean Emby doesn't support HEVC streaming because the very large majority of streams my server delivers are HEVC encoded. You can pre-process your files offline to getting a much better compression ratio then you could ever get in real-time. If you include an AAC 2 channel stereo audio track as well the media file would never need to transcode because of audio. The same can be done with any subtitles, making sure you have compatible sub formats that won't require transcoding. Short of configured bandwidth restrictions at the server, user or client level the media will play back using HEVC on just about every device including newer browsers from Apple, Microsoft or Google. Pre-encoding the media removes the transcoding complications of HEVC as well as gives you higher quality streams with bitrate savings compared to what you can get doing real-time transcoding (same for AVC). Concerning AV1 support (accurate as of November 1) 100% Support including DRM: Browsers & OS: Chrome, Edge, Android, Android TV, Fire TV Consoles & Streaming Sticks: Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max AV1 Suppor: Browsers & OS: Firefox, Windows Consoles & Streaming Sticks: Playstation 4 Pro, Xbox One, Roku Streaming Stick 4K Smart TVs: Android TV, Google TV, Samsung, Sony, LG, Amazon Fire TV No AV1 support: Browsers & OS: Safari, IOS/macOS (AV1 plays in Chrome/Edge and Firefox on macOS) Safari Roku Ultra supports adaptive streaming video via AV1 unofficially (tested with YouTube app) We have AV1 hardware support on some GPUs already such as Nvidia 3000 and 4000 series GPUs. Intel, AMD and Samsung have all commented additional AV1 support is coming at the chip level. Google has already been requiring AV1 support or new Android TV and Google TV devices. Google's newer Chromecasts support AV1 decode support. Industry AV1 support and adoption has been on the rise and gaing momentum quickly. Not that long ago, it took millions of views to offset the higher encoding costs of AV1, but with recent improvements, the break-even point has dropped to as low as 4,000 views!

  47. Yes I do, but first of all: a claim that involves a percentage cannot be backed by examples, that's just logically impossible. I've gone through all their changes and as I know both Plex' as well as Emby's customizations, it was rather easy to identify where the code from individual patches was coming from and which code was original. Though, you won't see me going through or commenting their code publicly. That doesn't seem appropriate behavior. If somebody wants to challenge my statements, please contact me privately. But if you do, please include substantial reasoning and evidence. I also don't want to condemn the fact that some things are being copied. ffmpeg is open source and especially in the earlier days, Emby had copied a number of things from Plex as well. Often these were even things that have been submitted to ffmpeg, but weren't picked up by ffmpeg. JF also have a number of own customizations, but it's a small number and by a magnitude less than what we have. Finally, I really don't like talking bad about others. I rather focus on our own achievements. But at the same time, I cannot remain quiet when I see users telling fantasy stories about others that are so far off from reality like the post to which I had responded.

  48. Ok, I used some words... but God, you get offended too easily. The point is that the conflict wouldn't exist if the moderator himself didn't create it. Moderator should stay neutral and not involve himself in the discussion. He turned it into an argument, and his argument is simply: "You like it, I dont". How can a forum moderator accept or reject suggestions, aren't there developers and decision makers who read this... We are paying customers and we should be allowed to speak freely. Instead, our ideas are being shut down instantly by forum moderators, and there will always be heroes level 100 who will join discussion to reject any idea for a change, like they have nothing better to do than police the forum. I love the app and I support the development but I wish I have never accessed the forum cause the community is by my opinion very divided. Those who make feature suggestions are met with almost religious resistance, by the staff which than encourages others to join the position of the staff and it turns into battle which OP's usually lose. Anyway I vote for this option to limit search because of everything that's already been said by the poor souls who haven't figured out yet how this place works, so they invest energy to explain the logic behind the suggestion, not knowing that whatever they say or do, will not pass. ...but life should go on so I wish you all good luck.
