  1. If the users bandwidth cannot sustain the playback - then the only option is to reduce the users 'bandwidth' to a much lower setting - forcing a transcode to a lower overall/average bitrate. Emby does not have 'adaptive' streaming - so it can't just lower the bandwidth needed for the action scenes (which are likely the high peaks). Peak bitrate is normal - and this is what the buffers are for to smooth things out - but there really is nothing that can be done if the users connection cannot sustain the buffer.

  2. Primarily to do with this: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/74442-stopping-idle-chromecasts/&do=findComment&comment=752392 I'd like the ability to set a maximum time that an individual client can stay connected to the server and still be idle. By this I mean, - clients that have a stream open, but paused = idle - clients logged into the web app but not doing anything (like an open tab sitting in the background but not streaming) = idle (any activity at all like scrolling down on the page would reset this one) I'd like to be able to set say, a half hour timeout. Then if a user starts a stream, pauses it, then walks away; that client will automatically disconnect half an hour later. Thoughts?

  3. Option 1 worked thanks! I was looking to see if tvdbid was something you could do in the name but I didn't see it listed in the TV Naming article https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159110-tv-naming

  4. Either: 1. Name series folders Frutis Basket (2001) [tvdbid=78900] Fruits Basket (2019) [tvdbid=357488] Rescan. OR 2. Disable Automatically merge series spread accross multiple folders in your Library settings, rescan, re-Identify one that was misidentified.

  5. The only thing that worked was dumping everything except the main movie name, as follows: superman_1948_pt01.avi superman_1948_pt02.avi etc. Thanks for the suggestion Now it's shown as it should be

  7. Hi, yes we are. We'll let you know when we've decided on what we're going to do. Hopefully it will be just staying on Docker Hub.

  8. There's a weird issue with the Xbox client where if you're watching a TV show and a "skip intro" button shows up, unless you hit another button (like a directional button), pressing "a" (to pause it) jumps back to the end of the intro, even long after the skip intro button disappears. Is this a known issue? Is there a fix?

  9. Yes, I just realized it now. I'm sorry.

  10. @LukeThanks for the explanation. I understand now. I would like to request that this be added to the Android client asap. The way I would love to see it work is for it to have these 3 options; 1 - Selective - A method on the client to select 1 or more images to send to 1 or more predefined server folders that have access control lists. 2 - All - The way it is now - To be a type of backup of your phone photos that is automatic. 3 - Both - So you have a backup in "Camera Uploads" and selected images in, e.g. "Family Vacation". Thank you in advance,

  11. No sir, I have not. It's been stable for me. The only issues I've had were of my own making (automated cert updating & restart failing because the SSH key wasn't valid) Otherwise, everything is far better than other options.

  14. DDR4 is not half the price of DDR5 anymore although it is cheaper but this is my first NEW processor/mobo since 2015 and I am only buying the memory here as the mobo/processor is a present from some friends for my Bday and wedding present so my thought was get the DDR5 since it's the newer technology for future proofing and more total memory with more RAM per stick....if you need that much. At the base clock value level TeamGroup DDR4 is $60 and DDR5 is $100.....when you get to more expensive RAM the price gap closes but for what we do with emby and media files with no gaming it doesn't make sense to spend more on fancy heatsinks since neither DDR4 nor DDR5 need the heatsinks since they run at a much lower voltage than RAM of yesteryear....unless maybe you overclock and that is of no real benefit for what I do at the cost of shorter component life.

  15. That can be used to restrict what photos the camera upload feature has access to. It's not actually an "upload right now" feature. But it's close enough, and we're essentially getting it for free via the native iOS permissions dialog. There's no equivalent to that in android though, so we'd still have to build a manual upload feature.

  16. I thought about getting a mobo with DDR4 but at the moment the ones in combos at my local Microcenter are hard to beat price wise and it's a choice of the ASUS Z690 TUF Gaming for DDR4 and the ASUS Z690-A Prime for DDR5 and it seems that the Prime is a little better board....but if the memory speed difference between the DDR4 and DDR5 isn'g going to make much difference for emby and video encoding/transcoding maybe the TUF Gaming is a better choice. I hate these kind of choices. At the moment 64 GB of DDR4 is more expensive than 32 GB of DDR5 by about 20% or more depending on how fancy you get.

  17. I reckon UHD770 in 12700K would run circles around both of those, but IIRC @rbjtechhas one of those in his machine so he might give you more exact real-world performance metrics.

  18. Leave uPnp in the router off unless you know you have a program using it - it is a security weakness. Set up the port forwarding manually, turn off uPNP in the router and uninstall the Emby plugin. Paul

  21. I'm sure you can see, on a textual basis, those are much better matches for the very generic term you used as the term appears closer to the front and is "more" of the target title as well. Your assumption that most people aren't searching for episodes, I think is just based on your personal usage and cannot be said for the general public. But this is the whole reason why we give you the different tabs. If you are looking for a movie, you would go to the movie result tab, right? The other thing that could help would be this FR so you could lend your support to it:

  27. Yes this is by design. As there are legacy system CollapseSingleItemFolders and per library CollapseVideoFolders hidden options. The system option set to true globally ignores per library option.

  30. I was able to sideload the following apk below and it working. Appear to be the same or similar to the Google version of the app. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/raw/master/android/emby-android-google-armeabi-v7a-release.apk Bit frustrating to say the least. Hopefully I it will be updated on the app store Fire devices soon. Maybe this will work for you too if you have issues again.dependin on my what apk is needed for Emby needed for you to connect to your server with.

  33. To follow up, I think the HDD enclosure does not have the most consistent connection. It has a passive cooling system, so I am suspecting it limits connectivity somehow if it overheats. I moved my library to an SSD and connected it directly to the Shield to test over the next week. hopefully this solved the server issue. Thanks

  37. Option 3 get one more 8TB disk and connect it directly to the Pi (even if it’s on a usb 2.0 port) then set up a cron to run rcync to back-up the media after hours to the usb 2.0 port drive (keep the main disk on the 3.0) the first backup will likely take a few days (but who cares) in the future it won’t take long as files are added gradually.

  38. well, just tried to repro with another local user and the channel is not visible in browser, which is the desired behavior. it may be a client cache issue where the user still sees the channel after applying policy. will keep an eye on it the next few days. thanks @ebr

  41. I finally solved my problem with zerotierone. Although the Zerotierone settings are very simple, I was not successful in my first attempt. I got the result on my second try. However, instead of spending extra effort to reach my emby server, I wish emby directly did not cause connectivity problems outside the home. In the same way, since I have a plex server, for comparison, it can be invaluable that the plex server can connect to the server from anywhere with internet without any extra effort. Anyway, thanks to everyone for their help. My problem with Zerotierone was solved very simply and quickly. My sincere thanks to everyone who tried to help me here. I wish everyone a lot of connected times. manisa79

  46. For the ones having trouble adding folders from an ntfs partition, on ubuntu 16.04 / mint 18 you may want to try this: With the Disks utility, on the mounting options, switch the automatic mounting options, and select mount on startup. Then after reboot try adding again the ntfs folder, but keep in mind that it is mounted now on /mnt/ instead of /media/user/ Please note I have no idea why this works.
