  1. Totally agree - that's why the intention has been clear from the first moment on: Not to make Emby just look like WMC, but to bring the full WMC experience as much as possible. Some examples: Support for all WMC remote control commands Modulated key repetition rates (when you press and hold a button) to provide the same fast and fluent navigation experience in guide and gallery (list) views T9 (triple-tap) text input via numeric key when you're in a list and want to jump to a certain letter or combination of letters Horizontal lists with grouping No center-focus auto-scrolling when navigating around Showing Save/Cancel buttons aside rather than at the bottom for quick access (just a single key press LEFT rather than needing to move down to the bottom) Better RC navigation in server settings pages (many server settings pages couldn't be operated by remote control before) and things I already forgot I'm thinking about creating a launcher background service for Windows which will automatically start Emby Theater (Windows) when you hit The Green Button on a WMC remote (or the corresponding mapped key on a Logitech remote). Once you're inside the app (or browser Window), hitting that button will always take you to the WMC Start Menu - which closes the loop on the subject of this topic

  3. Ahh yes, that is some debug data that I forgot to remove. I just pushed a fix, sorry. You'll have to run the scheduled task after updating for it to be removed.

  4. DSM7 Upgrade for Emby.mkvEDIT: The instructions assume default Synology install volume of /volume1. If your location is different use that instead! This is based on the release version of Emby which at the time of writing/video creation was 4.6.3. The video will become dated so just use the latest DSM 6 Emby version from the website https://emby.media/synology-server.html. If you happen to be running a beta version update to the latest beta version before the DSM 7 update. The idea is to do any updates on DSM 6 first before installing DSM 7. Since the creation of the video Emby Server is now availing in the Emby Package store (release version) so you can install Emby on DSM 7 now from that. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Attached is a quick video of upgrading DSM 6 to DSM 7 with Emby Updates. The video will show only browser items and not the PUTTY/SSH commands but everything done in browser is recorded. The SSH commands are included below. I converted this to MKV/H.265 to make it small enough to download and view offline. DMS7 Upgrade for Emby.mkv21.57 MB ยท 78 downloads Instructions used were: Download and have ready DSM 7 package for update. https://www.synology.com/en-us/DSM70 (I will be downloading both a virtualDSM 7 & for 920+) Download and have ready Emby Server 4.6.3 for both DSM 6 & DSM 7 https://emby.media/download.html - update Emby Server to current release of 4.6.3. - restart Emby Server and verify your on the latest release version. - uninstall Emby - update DSM to v7 - install Emby 4.6.3 (or same version that was running above (dsm7 version) - You can now install the DSM 7 version directly from the Synology Package store! (still on our website too) - stop Emby - remove emby_pkg user and video group - enable admin account if needed - enable ssh in Synology settings (Terminal & SSH menu) Not shown in video: - connect with Putty to Synology, login with admin user and get root rights with: sudo -i - copy files from old Emby share to new data location: cp -rv /volume1/Emby/* /volume1/@appdata/EmbyServer - adjust owner from copied files: chown -R emby:emby /volume1/@appdata/EmbyServer - close putty Shown again in video: - From Control Panel go to Shared Folder and edit each share that is used by Emby Server. Click the share, then EDIT, go to permission tab, select System internal user from drop down, grant emby user read/write access. - start Emby Notes: You can now disable the default admin account as well as SSH. You may also want to rename /volume1/Emby to /volume1/Emby6 as well. This will help make sure you don't have anything referencing the old directory. If you don't notice any issues in a week or two you can delete this old folder/share to free up space. DSM7 Upgrade for Emby.mkvDSM7 Upgrade for Emby.mkv

  5. I set up a lot of recurring recordings, ocassionally i decide i don't watch that program and would like to remove it from the library. this becomes a two step process. i have to go into the recording section to cancel the recording, then i have to navigate back to the series section to delete the series. it would be very nice to cancel the recording and be asked to delete the series folder, or at least have it navigate to the series directly. there's not an easy way to navigate back and forth from the series in the library to the recording section where the series record settings are held.

  6. I did get the A2 in hand and for reference for anyone who may try to use one, you need to have the Above 4G Decoding bios setting enabled. It seems hit or miss with server or consumer motherboards nowadays if its enabled by default but you will need it enabled or the system won't post at all with the card installed. Took me a few hours banging my head against the wall with that one and ultimately only found it by the Bios snooping function in the Supermicro IPMI interface to find the post failure code (95), then translating it to Insufficient PCI Resources and there was a Supermicro FAQ that mentioned enabling this setting (https://www.supermicro.com/support/faqs/faq.cfm?faq=15556). The FAQ wasn't specific to my servers motherboard but I figured its likely the same issue and turns out I was right. Hopefully that may help someone in the future but if not, at least I am updating the thread as promised! I have a bit to do before I can start testing things so it won't be that quick but at least I can boot the system with the card installed now.

  8. I'm saying you should rename "_eng.srt" to ".eng.srt", as they are named with the underscore currently, according your screenshot and apparently contrary to your impression.

  9. After seeing your response, I tried to make some test files to try help narrow the issue. However the issue is no longer happening. Tested with both 8 and10 bit AV1 files. Emby versions are the same still. The only difference I can find is a android security patch on February 5th which seems to patch a race condition in a video buffer. My issue may have been an edge case somewhere. Still weird that only Emby was triggering it and seemed to happen with any AV1 file, but seems to be working fine now.

  10. Your "eng" subtitles are wrongly named, you have underscore instead of dot in front of ISO language code there, hence making them invisible. Rename and Emby will not try to redownload them any more.

  11. Damn, well I feel dumb. That's my bad not checking the Testing section. Yep, switching to CUVID seems to have fixed the problem for the few problematic files I tested. Thanks!

  12. Note this does not happen with the Web player however it is also transcoding the audio as it's 5.1 and playing on a PC without.

  13. Several topics in Testing area but if you use CUVID instead of NVDEC do you still have an issue? Issue with hardware transcoding on 4.8.0.21 - Page 2 - Emby Server - Emby Community

  14. Clarification on that global limit, following scenario: Global limit: 40mbit Bitrate per file: 15mbit Stream 1 and 2 works just fine as they equal to 30mbit but what happens when a third stream is started? 1. Will it simply not start due to not enough available bitrate? 2. Will it transcode the third stream to 10mbit to comply with the 40mbit? 3. Will it simply start the third stream and all of them will run into buffering? Thank you!

  17. About 1 week before, the Kodi's now playing won't show in the Emby server dashboard, and another sync issue happens(which i discussed in the embyforkodi topics). The kodi just watched content will be marked as watched and will be unmarked very quickly, but at the same time the watched status on the server is right. Restart of Kodi will sync the right status to kodi again. And it's also strange that the 'Now playing' of Kodi when Kodi is playing emby content is no longer display server's dashboard, but the Emby client's would show. And also the play activities won't in the 'Activity', and the realtime play progress won't be update to Emby Server. I've tried many different versions of the client and server, but it doesn't work, and it worked all fine before. Is there any clue that could help me? Basic Info: Kodi Version: v20.0 (also tried v19.5/v19.3) Emby Server Version: 4.7.11.0 (also tried v4.7.8.0), Synology 920+ (DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 4 ) Hardware: Shield TV Pro 2019 Emby for Kodi Next Gen: 7.13.16, native mode Embuary Skin: 19.0.1

  18. My feeling is that none of the devs really use extras in Movies or TV, so they don't experience the pain of the 90% completed feature set.

  19. I had a similar problem using the latest version of Comskip and the beta version of Emby. You can see my path of discovery starting here - The solution to was to set a different library path for Comskip LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$(pwd)/usr/lib/ /usr/local/bin/comskip --ini=/etc/comskip.ini "$1" Hope it helps

  23. @@ebr, Can we add the ability to add a user to a ATV/FTV session? I can run a powershell script that does this using the API, but it would be much simple to add a user to the current session. The playstate/watched content would still be from the first user. Current situation is this: I login to watch something, and the GF is watching to, we want both of our watched status to update when we watch a show. Next time she may login, and then we have to log back in to my profile to see what the last episode was that we watched. So request being, let me go back and hit a button to add a user to the session, list the users on the host, select the user. That user is now joined to the session and get's credit for watched content. Thanks, Marcus

  24. #2 is the audio player overlay and a "now-playing" stage - so far I got the player moved from the top to the bottom only #3 is video playback. This is 80% complete but I'm undecided regarding some behavioral questions After that, we'll be setting up a small group for testing. Please post here if you wan to participate.

  30. I just tried adding a book to the 'Book' library type. It was quite disappointing, to say the least. Can we please get this implemented sooner rather than later? The only feature apparently implemented is 'download'. No coverart, descriptions, identify, metadata, or ability to read the book. I haven't tried it yet, but from the thread above, it seems like I can't even use local *.nfo files to specify metadata. For a data source, the Internet Archive's Open Library has 20 million records, an open API, client software, and very reasonable throttle limits (no more than 100 covers in five minutes). It is quite a robust API offering. API Docs I understand adding readers to the multitude of emby clients may be quite the task, but getting the library management and metadata stuff on the server shouldn't be too bad. Same with getting a reader into the Emby Theater clients. Thanks.

  31. Please for the love of Odin, this is the only self hosted solution to support video to any real extent when managing home photos, can we please get some options such as choosing folders to upload or at the very least every user only has access to their OWN device? Right now you can only set root folder for all users, and have it uploads to per device folders, problem is all users have access to all devices it's all or nothing. I just remember seeing a post a ways back that not much was going to be done to camera upload but this seems like such a necessity.
