WMC Theme - Movie Library Browsing Time for something new...: WMC_Browse_Movies_cut.mp4

Actually figured out the problem with stutter/jitter in the web browser. Appears to be a container problem. The movies with the issues are MP4. If I run them through MKVToolNix and switch to MKV they play perfectly.

We're not talking episodes, we're talking unwatched episodes. Every single one of them? With no way to tell the difference between ones with new episodes and ones that I've already watched? I just don't think that suggestion would be best for most people that's all.

Gave a run to 0.1.0.2, great to see some progress visible, nice work, Cheesy. On to some pending issues still: Episode titles are now correctly picked-up, SxxExx visible in the title: However, parent series, Date Played and Playes are still NOT picked-up: Resulting in: (no PG rating also; already known no logo and no backdrop, likely back to no parent series issue, as those are both Series items) As opposed to: And major issue present: all same SxxExx episodes get multi-versioned (likely due to same issue mentioned: no parent series and being interpreted as movies): Thought that's Watch History plugin not playing nice with Auto-organize, deinstalled Auto Organize and repeated process from scratch: remove Watch history, restart, refresh channels, reinstall Watch history, restart, refresh channels - no joy. No issues observed with movies, but besides external links there were none to begin with. Yup, all present, see 2. Not daring to test Unlimited, keeping it on 100 and while the task itself took only few minutes (3), ffprobing afterwards took considerable time, roughly 30 minutes (47 users x 100 = 4700 items), during which time majority of episode names nor item years nor movie backdrops get populated but it is done gradually, which might give impression to some users that something is off, maybe do not complete progress bar until actual work is done? Yep, nice one, both number of users, title syntax and thumbs are correct. And you are right, still a no-go, Movies get sorted first having Date Played, episodes lag behind having NO Date played nor Plays, as mentioned above. All in all, you're slowly getting there. Cheers

Emby already has filters build in to sort through your media but what would be even better would be allowing the user to save filters and have an easy way of selecting that view. For example I might want a view showing all comedies released from 1990-1999, all unwatched movies rated G from 2017, favorite action movies, etc. Let us save these filtered views and have them easily accessible from the landing page. If the filtered views can be shared between users even better.

I moved from Plex to Emby and even though I think Emby is superior in its flexibility there are some things I like better with Plex, especially in terms of its looks. This theme is trying to fix that by making it a bit more similar to Plex but with some, in my opinion, improvements. The CSS is attached to this post for anyone interested and below are some screens to show it off Good to know I only use Chrome so I can't guarantee this CSS works as expected in other browsers. Watched badge/banderoll is inverted which means that the badge will not be shown if media have been watched, like in Plex. SEE WHAT OTHER USERS ARE WATCHING ON YOUR SERVER What does it do and how does it work? Simply put, it collects every (non-hidden) user's watch history for the last 100 items (Episodes and Movies) and then Displays sub categories for each user. Parental ratings are enabled - so a kid with a max parental rating of PG can't view other content that is higher than this on, say... a Parent's Profile with a Parental Rating of R or GB-18, etc. If a user's profile doesn't have any parental rating set, it defaults to R or GB-18 so that any Adult (Xrated) content is excluded. Request that Emby server store Dolby Vision (including profile), Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, HDR10+ (smpte2094) and HLG for appropriate video in the db and use it for display in the media info and track selection sections of movie/episode details screen. Usually, channel plugins are used for integrating some remote content. To keep it minimal and focused, this sample does something different, though: It allows you to "browse" your local file system and also playback audio and video files. How does it work? After installing, go to plugins and click the "File Browser Plugin". You will see this: Next Step After saving, run the task "Refresh Internet Channels". Then you will see a "File Browser" in Emby and you can browse down all the hierarchy of the folders you have chosen. It makes sense to choose "List" as view type. @chef thanks for the plugin , getting back into again now im on release server. would you consider making the default movie edition be none rather than "theatrical". and including the " - " of " - %e" in the token....so if no movie edition is detected, no " - " string is generated? editions in Emby naming scheme have to be prefixed " - " so i dont think anything is lost making it part of the %e token...and that way if no movie edition is detected the resultant filename will still be consistent/good..with a movie pattern of eg %mn (%my)%e.%ext. the plugin is making all my organised movies look like the theatrical edition when it fact the edition is unknown and not specified. thanks for considering

Cool so thats done it's ok, this is the thing that you were saying that everything is being grouped. So... Do you have Mike Planets Auto collections installed? I think it's probably this causing it. But i can update that plugin also to ignore the watch history channel if thats the case. I don't think i have access to do this. Or i'll have to figure out a work around somehow. But all in all, i say that it is working pretty good and it achieves what it sets out to do. definitely 1 for the TODO list is to Seperate Movies and TV Shows as seperate categories under the Users History. otherwise like you say Movies get the priority and then episodes follow. Even tho the list i populate is in the correct order and should be displayed like that. I'll speak with @softworkz he has some really good knowledge about channels and it was him that springboarded me for this. Thanks again. Thanks Grimmers... When you say multiversion, are you saying they are missing or they are all present. Remember this is a Watch history not another library, so to be accurate, i think displaying the mediasource that was watched should be the only one shown. and not all of them Appreciate your eye for detail. So to be clear. Current outstanding issues are... Date Played not populating Play Count not populating Decision to be made on the items mediasources. do we take the one that was watched or the list all of them. Anything else you can think of? Tolriq thanks for the quote. I can see now how my wording could seem like a price complaint; it was not a complaint the price is fair. What I wrote was meant purely in the context of a Google family "group" purchase which is a maximum of six users i.e. paying a premium but fair price for a license bundle that allows up to six users but on average is four. Unfortunately ultimately I still have the same hurdles to purchasing so in that respect we didn't find a way to make paying easier. I appreciate the detail in your reply and can see how this is much more complicated than I considered and it is clear you are also limited by Google itself. I hope my honest feedback helped in some way and that in the end I manage to purchase all six but from experience I strongly suspect I wont be able to. That reflects my testing as well. When remoivng the tag I added to the NFO on season level it just got added back again by Emby. Shouldn't be a big issue for my usecase though. Thank you!

The file above is a raw .m2ts file ripped RAW from a UHD disk. It contains a dual layer dolby vision and as it's from a UHD disk, it also highly like to have a TrueHD track with an AC3 'Core' ( in a similar fashion to DTS-HD having a DTS Core.) MKV/MP4 RIP's of UHD disks usually extract this out - so it's discreetly selectable - but in this case, I *think* it's possible being done dynamically. If you look in the log - it says 'native' on both ends of the stream - thus it is not 'converting' the format - it is only extracting it. In summary - everything looks ok. Emby is doing everything expected of it - I think.. If you were to run this m2ts through makemkv - then I suspect it would direct play without any issues - and then you would be able to select and direct play the AC3 5.1 track if you so wished. For info - I extract or create a DD 5.1 track and make it Audio Track #1 and make it Default for ALL my UHD Media. This way, it has the highest possible chance of direct playing on any client without user involvement (incl an ms edge browser) - as the majority of clients simply cannot playback HD Audio due to not supporting those codecs or not having the HDMI bandwidth to do so (ARC issues).

Transcoding track 0:2 shouldn't have anything to do with the direct play error. That is just what the server is delivering to the client. For some reason if you are selecting 0:3, 0:4 or 0:5 tracks it is not happening. Your playback logs always use TRUEHD track.

As suggested on this closed forum page (scrape tags and keywords), it would be great to have Emby natively scrape TMDB and IMDB tags. TMM does this, but would be terrific not to have to make this a manual, two-step process. My use-case example is that I continue to value greatly being able to trace movie writers (in order to follow the career the same way one can a director or an actor - sometimes the same person but on the same or different films, such as Preston Sturges). I'm OK that this isn't an Emby default, but I like to be able to add it through scraped data, and having those tags natively would be great.

TMM enables scraping keywords from TMDB and IMDB as <tag> NFO tags - which Emby happily ingest afterwards and is where vast majority of my 100,000+ tags attached to media comes from.

You might want to look at Jellyfin. I have no idea if they have any of the things you want or not. But being open source you and/or others of like mind would have the ability to create those features. Emby is closed source so the team (I imagine) has a list of new features that they rank according to parameters such as of most use to the most users. While at the same time maintaining the code. That's why you see so much of "it's on our list" for sometimes over a year. That's not likely to change.

Hello as title says i stopped using kodi as it crashs more than it plays something - started to love emby again but i realllllly miss one feature sorting my movies by genre & genre Here in emby when i add 2 genres in Filter than it shows me for example all action movies + all thriller movies but with an "AND" modifier i could see only movies that have both genres at the same time for example what i used before: Action - Thriller SciFi - Horror SciFi - Adventure War - Romance Romance - Drama ... etc. - the possibilities are endless please consider this for a future change
