  1. I've been reading through this thread for abit and wanted to add my input. I've used Plex for over a decade, started to have issues with it lately so looked at emby, after some people in the discord which I originally didn't realise was unofficial told me to "use jellyfin it's better" I decided to try both out after a few weeks of trying them both out on different devices I can say emby just works better, jellyfin is fine if you want free software and only use your browser, but it's slow and clunky, the android TV app is a mess and the Dev for that closes bug reports claiming they are intended features. So I have 0 hope of that improving and the mobile android app is also just a buggy mess. Multiple times on jellyfin I've had the apps crash or have playback errors because for some reason the jellyfin server couldn't even encode audio or subtitles, on a 3.6Ghz 32 core server it struggled to encode subs or audio. Or it would just stop playing mid movie or TV show. Not once has any of these issues happened to me on emby, yes it's closed source, yes it's not free, but why are people so against paying Devs for their time? I wonder if those same people are against paying any other employee for their time and think everyone should just work for free. @Cheesegeezermakes a really awesome plugin which I must admit I love as it gives my home theatre a more cinema esq vibe. And if jellyfin being a fork of emby is what emby was like years ago, then I think the Devs have came a really long way and made a lot of improvements over the years, and they deserve to be rewarded/paid for that, so well done to them for both the work they've done and having the guts to say enough is enough and making there code closed source and making some money from their hard work Oh and to the guy who originally made this thread, thanks you really pulled everyone together but your definitely not an award winning designer and from a purely marketing perspective (now I only work in marketing I'm not claiming to be some super awesome award winning marketer because I'm not) your "improvements" to the look of emby from what I can see in your screenshots are outdated and horrible. From a marketing point of view the reason why rounded edges and glossy highlights are used in most products today (idk if it's the same reason emby picked them) is because they give a subconscious feeling of class and elegance. Look at everything we have today, cars have curves, phones have curves, everything has curves, you don't look at a box and go wow that's elegant do you? The shape of objects and designs have a subconscious impact on how we view that product and can ultimately help us form a subconscious opinion of whether we will like said product or not before we've even used it, this is the same for colours, fonts and everything else. But as an "award winning designer" I'm sure you allready know that.

  2. Good day, I will explain and clear the confusing and misunderstanding about the group "Member". 1 - When you register at Emby Community support forum, you place at that group, from 0 to 25 posts you are "Member", when over 25 posts you will move to the group "Members". We have other groups as well, but our subject here the "Member" group with 0 post. 2 - Why sending "Force Password Reset" for that group and ONLY with zero post: We notice for the past month that some groups of spammers posting from these accounts, as we all know, many using same email/username/password in multi sites, and if one of these sites get breached and info get published on the net, any spammers can use that. either to spam any community or worst, attacking the members here with any posts they made, these kind of spammers do not care if they get banned or not. Any community faced that, normal will ask their members to force change their password, in OUR case here, the "Member" group with ONLY zero post. 3 - Why now start to deleting accounts for "Member" group with ONLY zero post from year 2013 to 2017: We notice from many replies when we did the force password reset, that many do not know if they ever had accounts here, In this deleting steps, we want to make sure that whom register here are the real user, not someone else using their info. After many confusing, I hope this thread clear the matters. Thanks all. My best

  3. To all users with Emby server 4.8.0.20 and higher. This Emby server version has a performance issue. As a workaround, reduce the paging factor in plugin's sync settings to a very low value. Factor 1 was tested and confirmed working. This slows down the init sync performance, but at least the (init) sync will not run into a timeout. Higher values could work as well, but at some point timeouts will appear. Default setting is factor 70 and this too high for > .19

  4. Well, I got it to connect. I went into C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\config and changed the IsPortAuthorized to false and reset my firewall settings to default. Restarted the server and tried connecting on the Android app and it's working now. Thank you for your help. I know you didn't suggest this here and now but I was reading an older thread where this was suggested. I had tried it earlier but I decided to reset my firewall settings this time and I think that's what did the trick.

  5. I want to notify you that the problem with playback, with the previously mentioned files of Netflix content, which contain DV and HDR10, in my case it is completely solved, the playback is direct and without any transcoding, but for the moment the solution It is in the client for Android tablets and smartphones with version 3.2.91. The successful test was carried out on my Philips 55OLED873 television with Android TV 8, on the Xiaomi Mi Box with Android TV 9. Unfortunately, the problem persists in the client for Android TV, and what I use the most is the client for Android TV, on my four television devices to watch movies and episodes of television series in HDR quality. I attach the screenshots, where you can see my Emby server, doing direct transmission with HTTP, without any transcoding:

  6. This is totally unofficial and may not be allowed in your country, so you are liable to check that yourselves - im not liable for anything should you choose to use this. Amazon Prime Person Helper (bing).zip This is basically a web scraper, so you won't find it in Emby Official Catalogue. Its an early test version, so there could possibly be bugs / incorrect data grabbed - however I've had no errors so far. What it does: Searches Bing for links of the person on Amazon Prime If no links are found it will not even go to Amazons web site. ** It can identify a wrong person of the same name incorrectly** Then if found, it tries to grab the data and Image 18.Jan.2023 - 21.46.53 [GetMetadata] Searching for Person = Lee Philips 18.Jan.2023 - 21.46.53 Url = https://www.bing.com/search?q=Amazon+Prime+Video+Actor+lee+philips 18.Jan.2023 - 21.46.53 Found link = https://www.amazon.co.uk/prime-video/actor/Lee-Philips/nm0680097/ 18.Jan.2023 - 21.46.53 Testing Link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/prime-video/actor/Lee-Philips/nm0680097/ 18.Jan.2023 - 21.46.53 Checking for Imdb Id. 18.Jan.2023 - 21.46.53 Imdb Id found, temporarily holding Id: nm0680097 18.Jan.2023 - 21.46.53 Testing Link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/prime-video/actor/Lee-Philips/nm0680097/ 18.Jan.2023 - 21.46.54 Imdb Id Added Successfully. 18.Jan.2023 - 21.46.54 Date Of Birth: 10 January 1927 18.Jan.2023 - 21.46.54 Birthplace Added: New York City, New York, USA 18.Jan.2023 - 21.46.54 Overview Added. 18.Jan.2023 - 21.47.05 [GetImage] Searching for Person Image for: Lee Philips 18.Jan.2023 - 21.47.05 Url = https://www.bing.com/search?q=Amazon+Prime+Video+Actor+lee+philips 18.Jan.2023 - 21.47.05 Found link = https://www.amazon.co.uk/prime-video/actor/Lee-Philips/nm0680097/ 18.Jan.2023 - 21.47.05 Testing Link = https://www.amazon.co.uk/prime-video/actor/Lee-Philips/nm0680097/ 18.Jan.2023 - 21.47.06 Page claims to contain a Person image 18.Jan.2023 - 21.47.06 [GetImages] SingleImage - Primary Image for "Lee Philips" was found: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/S/pv-target-images/48508d38d9f408b2f21ff289a177ab14b31aa5348b28d662378a9fea15e0ca46._SX300_.jpg Then adds it to Emby How to trigger it - Place the DLL in your plugins folder and restart Emby (It should work on all server versions) Click on an Empty Image such as this.... 7. Background Plugins, extensions and integrations make an important part of the Emby ecosystem. Plugin development is open to everybody and many great plugins have been created by Emby community members. To show our appreciation for the great work and achievements of community developers, we took steps in order to improve in an area where we haven't done that well in the recent past: Developer Support. When talking about support, there are several different facets to evaluate and consider. We probably did fairly well when it was about responding to user questions - but not that much when it came to providing accurate and up-to-date information, documentation and code examples. Emby SDK It has been just about time to make a change to that and over the past months we have intensively worked on improving that situation. Eventually, we have ended up with a fully loaded package of information, resources, tools and sample code - exclusively for all of you developers, so today we're proud to present: The EMBY SDK https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.SDK Website - emby dev In parallel to the SDK, we are launching: the new emby developer site https://dev.emby.media Introduction Video For a comprehensive introduction to the Emby SDK, watch the video, either by installing the Plugin for The Emby Show Or watch it on YouTube: The Emby Show Episode 3 - Emby SDK - or below Questions? 9. Guys, The ebook side of Emby/MediaBrowser has been long stalled or rather stagnated. I would like to offer up a couple of suggestions. Many people use calibre as an ebook/comic book tool for scraping data and general management of their collection already. This program is absolutely astonishing in its ability to pull metadata from post calibre scans, as well as draw in metadata from the file source and/or directory structure. http://vaemendis.net/ubooquity/ Its a self contained .jar server/reader combination. And honestly I am very impressed by it's small footprint and wide range of abilities. The other option is COPS , which was written specifically with calibre in mind. It is open source, so making it work with emby I would think would be fairly easy. https://blog.slucas.fr/projects/calibre-opds-php-server/ Ever since the original release of MediaBrowser's bookshelf I have always wanted something that would allow me to 'read' my collection, rather than being basically nothing more than a place-set for images of books I own. I am sure that those who mainly have audiobooks are thrilled with bookshelf , but it's nothing more than an extension of the music library IMHO, not new features. We can have both right? Here I give you two suggestions free of charge.. Just because I love you, and Emby Personally I plan on running the Ubooquity Server along side of Emby from now on, just because of it's massive functionality and tiny footprint. But I sure hope that someone decides -- "yeah, ebook support should be in here too" and do something about it - rather than allow this now very very ancient issue to continue to remain an issue. And so I don't have to have 20 different ports open, some with SSL support - some not, because Emby isn't delivering the 'complete package'. (Please take some of this with humor, I know you have your hands full with improvements/bugs/suggestions/requests)

  11. I know some do not like the visible check mark that is overlayed on movie posters when the movie is marked as watched. I do like it and find it useful. In fact, I would like to see the same thing for TV Shows that are marked as watched (all episodes watched). Obviously, some (maybe most) would not want this, so making it optional would be great. It seems inconsistent that it works that way for movies, but I can find no way to make it happen for TV shows. The best solution, of course, is to make it optional for each category.

  12. Are you connecting to your server via hosted Web app (app.emby.media) or local Web app (LANIP:port)?
    1 point
  13. It would do, as that's what emby sees as initiating the connection - and it's correct to do so. You need to add the nginx config in the 'location' section below - this will then forward the real WAN IP to emby .. location / { ..... proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; ## Passes the real client IP to the backend server. #proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $http_CF_Connecting_IP; ## if you use cloudflare un-comment this line and comment out above line. proxy_set_header Host $host; ## Passes the requested domain name to the backend server. proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; ## Adds forwarded IP to the list of IPs that were forwarded to the backend server. ..... There is a large nginx setup thread here with the full config if you need it -

  20. Luke, thanks for the assistance, again. Here is what I have found, and an update on the situation. The Emby app for my LG OLED TV updated recently, and I have not had an error reported in over a week now. I also get better intro and credit notifications in the app. I ran an integrity check on the library.db, I needed to copy the library to a local widows machine and use an install of sqlitebrowser. The integrity check came back without errors. I will say that this is resolved unless I begin getting errors as a regular occurrence again.

  23. Be careful with single name people, like wrestlers and such as adult actors with single names or aliases it can easily identify those wrong if they are like someone elses first or last name. Emby by design just redownloads wrong info when you try to delete it. You have to lock the metadata then save and reopen and then delete it and the image I have my own metadata server for people with a whole lot more people - about 250,000 - I must have added hundreds manually, probably over a thousand. I plan to release a plugin for that eventually. (I already have one running it myself but it needs to have nothing to config, like these)

  27. Oh, I did fully read the announcement else I wouldn't be here in this thread. I had to however search for it as an email with " For security reasons, the administrator of Emby Community has required you to reset your password." isn't exactly what you said above. You have to see it from the eyes of somebody who got a password reset email out of the blue on a forum they have not posted in which is normally "oh, this has been breached" and that is what I mean. I am also still going to assume that regardless of what you say as this is the very first time I have gotten this from any community. My other points are correct. Take it as you will. My other points are fully valid and instead of disregarding them somewhat rudely you should take them on board as a lesson and not assume for yourself I have no idea what I am talking about here... I do in-fact run a couple large communities myself one of which actually has a few million members... Checking against https://haveibeenpwned.com is an excellent way to combat spammers also as it enforces stronger passwords and prevents what you're describing from occurring in the first place...

I haven't tried /dev/shm, and I'm not really sure why my method would be much different, but I added a dedicated mount in my fstab like so: tmpfs /var/cache/transcoding/emby tmpfs defaults,noatime,nosuid,nodev,noexec,size=96G,uid=emby,mode=1770 0 0 and live TV plays fine on my system.. Not sure it will help but figured I'd throw it out there just in case.

  36. If anyone is looking here for a solution, this is how I do it for now: Torrent client is downloading everything into /Torrent/ I then created additional folders e.g. /Torrent_Movies/, /Torrent_Linux/, /Torrent_Apps/ and so on Within the torrent client (Qbittorrent) I can set "Categories" and select storage folders for each category Then the torrent client can also automatically move all the torrents to the specific cateegory/storage folder. Basically I then sorted my torrents by "tracker" or other useful filters, selected a batch of them, set category Then all torrents get moved into the individual storage folders In emby I now have several libaries e.g. Movies, Linux, Apps with each storage folder selected. Additional I have "Mixed_Content" for the folder "Torrent" since everything lands in there until I manually set the category in my torrent client. Only semi-automatic instead of fully-automatic but fine for me

This new feature is easy to use. Just bring up the OSD and the brightness feature is all the way to the right as highlighted in the following picture. All you need to do is touch and slide the control up or down to brighten or darken the video. New lock screen feature in video OSD Tired of accidentally touching the screen and having the video jump to a new scene or doing something you didn't intend? The new lock screen will put an end to this when-ever you choose to use it. Simple click the lock button highlighted in yellow in the picture below to activate this. Any screen touches from this point on during the video will briefly bring up the following screen but do nothing else. In order to de-active this feature you would click the lock icon shown on the picture below, then click the confirm after that. This new feature is straight forward and very easy to use. New mini sidebar docking option One of the coolest features in this new release is the mini sidebar docking option. In order to access this, click the highlighted icon shown in the picture below. Now, click the following icon one-time. You will now have the mini sidebar open as shown below. The mini sidebar is scrollable so if you have more libraries then would fit on screen you can simply scroll this menu up or down to gain access to all libraries on your system. Voice input support on search screen Another great feature added to Emby for Android is the ability to use voice search. You can use voice search anywhere you see the microphone icon shown highlighted in the picture below. All you have to do is click the microphone button and then speak your search term. 43. Hi. We recommend the HD Homerun if that is an option for your sources.

  44. Nobody prevents you from charging money for your Emby server for the people you want to let watch. So what's wrong with getting the lifetime subscription if you get money every month? Of course it depends on your content, if you only have 200-500 movies you will soon reach your limits. But there are enough people here who have far more movies and maybe even series than Netflix offers. Who also values quality has even the far better than Netflix, I do not see TrueHD DTS-HD-MA, DTS:X, etc.. In addition, 4K movies with just 8MBIT video bitrate also do not necessarily testify to quality but you do not have that for the aforementioned £5.99 anyway. So if you only want to stream and hardly have any movies yourself, you should stay with Netflix etc. since there's nothing against it. But who stands on quality and maybe even has a living room cinema or a home theater room will not be happy with Netflix & Co. And your mentioned Plugins, why don't do the jellyfin devs create them on their own? Before i switched over to Emby from Plex i tried all other MediaCenters, also Jellyfin but it was way more spartian, no Logos for the Plugins, hardly plugins etc. Maybe this changed now but for me also the design is important of a MediaCenter. Sure Emby ins't perfect especially with implementing new features it is a pain seeing topics open for years also bugs and security related things but so far it has the most coherent overall concept for me. I also never wasn't a friend of the default ugly Kodi Theme, so i modded my Kodi in all ways. But for this you also need to know python which is the used coding language for Kodi. I also have Netflix, Amazon and Disney+ but it is not the same Quality of the movies. I think it depends a lot on your own intended use and your preferences and priorities. But for me Emby is the better choice as i have my own Cinema Room and i want perfect Video and Audio so netflix is a nice to have, but audio dynamics and picture quality is far away from the original movie on disc.

  46. Added white-space then add \A for line break. /*--- Announcement text at top of home page ---*/ .verticalSection.section0:before { content: "Shut Down Monday \A for Maintenance"; white-space: pre-wrap; position: relative; font-size: 150%; color: red; justify-content: center; display: flex; }

  47. Only thing wrong with that code is it is missing a semi-colon for Height. /*--- Announcement text at top of home page ---*/ .verticalSection.section0:before { height: 300px; content: "Announcement text goes here"; left: 40vw; position: relative; font-size: 150%; color: red; }

  48. The following CSS snippet places text at the top of the home page underneath the menu. However, since updating to v4.5.4.0 it stopped working. I'm not sure if due to the update or other CSS scripts I have implemented: /*--- Announcement text at top of home page ---*/ .verticalSection.section0:before { height: 300 px content: "Announcement text goes here"; left: 40vw; position: relative; font-size: 150%; color: red; }
