  2. Hi, Not sure this is the right place to post this, but I found no better one. I would like to report that, after trying several solutions, I finally decided to stick to Emby. Use case scenario is following. I would like to be able to store my music on a NAS (a QNAP HX-453 or something like that) and stream that to my Raspberry Pi4 with Moode Audio. The Pi4 then transmist to DAC over USB or an added digital GPIO card which then feeds a headphone amplifier. Both DAC and HP amp are from the brand "Aune" and work perfectly to my ears. This is to listen to music only. I don ot play movies over Emby... at least not for now ANd I listen to classical music a lot. So after doing some research, I found there were several solutions to achieve this. But the problem is that a lot of DMS do not incorporate the "Album Artist" tag. And as such, browsing my music library and find out the several "editions" of say, Beethoven's complete piano concertos played by various soloists and directors is a nightmare. Also, a lot of DMS do not recognize the "CD" tag. So if the album consists of 2 CD's you have to rename each track so they're played in the correct order. Should you fail to do that, you end with CD1 Track1 played, followed not by CD1 Track 2, but by CD2 Track 1... Which is also painful is you want to listen to a symphony from a set of complete symphonies !!! It rapidly turned out that emby was more or less the only one to support said tags and that, as such, it was the only solution that would work for my needs. Then, once you have this, you have to "control" the server. For that, I use a smartphone or a tablet. And there again, the Android Emby app is wonderfull. It let's you arrange your Music Library "visuals" as you want it with a lot of possibilities. And as such, you can control the Emby server from computer (using dedicated IP address) or from the app and if you make a change on one, it is reflected on the other one, which is quite nice So, all in all, Emby is the solution that is almost perfect for me"... If it would be possible to configure the appearance of the Android app a little more, I'd be happy, but that is probably possible and I still have to discover that ability yet So, a full 5 stars for me :-) Regards.

  5. The studio filter has been added but is untested. Remember that I don't do any filtering in the tool. I just build the query string and send it to Emby. You may have to play with the filter to get it to work. Vic tool_2.2a.zip

  6. For TV shows, trailer must be located in \trailers subfolder, <tvshowname>-trailer.ext in main series folder (like for movies) won't do.

  7. I finally did a full factory reset to the TV , re-installed Emby app and now everything loads perfectly. Weird, but happy it works

  8. it's getting there. I've got issues with the Android resolution. and this is on the emulator and also the Bluestacks, gonna take some more research to get it working. but i added a refresh cache button now, and it works a treat. plus i'm sold on the Home page UI now. I just need to refine the Library Buttons, i can't get rid of that damn box. And if i do then switching to the next library doesn't work!! Not sure why i still can't get the images to show for the mediainfo Icons.# it's pulling the right images but not showing them so you can see here that as i change libraries the spotlight is requesting what the video codec image is and guess what it returns the correct value but it just doesn't display. What are your thoughts

  9. Hi. We're planning a side menu much like you can get now with the web app. Thanks.

  10. Hm, should have. You can also remove those series folder out of your parent TV shows folder, scan library, put them back, scan again.

  11. Nice - a more elegant way may be to just use the API (via curl) to directly write the tag from the scraped filename - but the NFO reader is doing this for you anyway in your version. Also, if you are happy to share, it would be good to share the PS script in the Tools section on the forum - just so people inclined can have a play/modify if they wish.

  12. I Got it. I didn't activate "Video Preview Thumbnails", after I did that all chapters have an image from the movie itself. Amazing stuff. Thanks for the help.

  13. Hi again, hmmm........When I tried I had focus on the above mentioned thumbnail image extraction under scheduled tasks from cayars, and not on the "video preview thumbnails" as Happy2Play is showing. This maybe explains why I can't get any chapter images. I'm not at home currently so I will check that soon. I think my settings is like the picture from Happy2Play, means nothing is set in that field.

  17. Hello I have been using Emby on my Synology for 3 years and I am very satisfied with the features. Nevertheless, can someone explain to me why the client interface (Android) is so ugly? Do you intend to evolve or do you intend to stay on your achievements? Thank you very much.

  18. Thanks, I did a search for that issue, but guess my search skills need much improvement.

  19. Emby will never (I know don't say never) have a protected playback path and pay the licensing fees to playback DRM content so it is highly probable that this won't happen but you never know! I feared years ago that the two way capability of ATSC3 would bring DRM to OTA content. Don't fear though, it may not happen as broadly as you think. I can use 99% of the channels I have from Spectrum in my area via HDHomeRun Prime CableCARD tuners.

  24. Probably going to rebuild the Teramaster I got for my parents on TrueNAS Core... same as my personal QNAP. At least then there is a high chance it stays secure for the year or two between updates it usually takes. (the NAS is 5000 miles away).

  25. Remember, when looking at the log files that the tool is fully asynchronous. When you tag 1000 items the tool quickly sends 1000 requests for adding the tag to items. The results from these requests do not come back in order. They can and will frequently come back out of order. Vic

  26. Hi. The above is correct. Also, many questions like this are answered in our searchable KB at support.emby.media. Thanks. https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001173191-can-i-use-my-emby-premiere-key-on-more-than-one-server

  28. You can just add the same key to the new server. The license doesn't need to be removed from the old server.

  29. That's not up to plugin but up to Emby core, as Top Picks creates Mixed-content type library (no standard library type provides such option, only virtual ones) whereas Trailers is a channel (channels do). That would require core changes.

  30. Just a quick follow-up. I solved this in a maybe not so elegant way, but it's working for me. I created and compiled an AutoIT-script that I run from powershell as a weekly scheduled task in Windows. This script creates a Moviename.nfo file in the same folder as the movie containing nothing but the tags extracted from the movie filename. Since I didn't use .nfo files previously this works just fine. The tags I create now from the filenames are: .bluray. / .blu-ray. / .brrip. / .bdrip. / .bd-remux. - creates tag "Blu-ray" .final cut. / .final.cut. - creates tag "Final Cut" .remastered. - creates tag "Remastered" .dc. / .directors cut. / .directors.cut. - creates tag "Directors Cut" .unrated. - creates tag "Unrated" .limited. - creates tag "Limited" .extended. - creates tag "Extended" .720p. - creates tag "720p" .1080p. - creates tag "1080p"

  31. This six year old comparison shows that most of the extra overhead of https is cancelled by the change from http 1.1 to http/2. Also that the extra overhead is largest for large numbers of small messages. Google did not need to upgrade its mail servers when it changed Gmail to https. I'm sure that any performance issues will be down to other causes - so a detailed report with log files so that the reasons can be looked at is the way to go. Paul

  36. I completely revamped the Collection and Playlist code. While in a playlist or Collection you can remove items directly. While in a media folder you can create a new collection or playlist or add selected items to an existing playlist or collection. Vic tool_2.2.zip

  38. Unfortunately, that has been long-time incoming and standard Android app will supersede AndroidTV app in not-too-distant future, as it seems currently.

  39. Hi, there is currently no way to do this, although this topic has come up before and having some way to address this is likely for future updates. Thanks.

  40. The playback issue isn't actually isolated to the TV app. It is in Exo somewhere and also manifests in the standard app. We are working on trying to find it and deal with it.

  41. Hi Luke I restarted the NAS after the install. This morning after reading your post I restarted again. The version still showed 4.7.9. I turned off Emby and shut down the NAS then waited 30 mins and did a cold start, then restarted Emby manually. Bingo - it now shows 4.7.11 and a library scan has resulted in reflecting the new folders and the move of the files! What's more, after a rescan of the MusicVideos library, all the new .ass files are recognised and all the videos now have the CC button. Not sure why it took 3 reboots, one of them cold (though maybe it would have worked third time with a warm restart, who knows?) but regardless, thank yo SO much for the help. If anything like that happens again I shall start by turning Emby off, doing a cold start of the NAS and restarting Emby. Maybe the latest ADM update has a bug of some sort... Thanks again Luke - top man!

  42. Implemented. Implemented for both, DVB and ATSC. BDA is an option and working on Windows, of course, but TVnext is not using the http mode. It is using the low-level API instead, which allows to get the full mux - on all platforms (Linux etc.). I suppose that NextPVR can't do that either, right? It also implements dynamic filter updating: While the stream is being received and everything running, TVnext tells the HDHR which streams it wants to have. This allows to receive whatever is needed from the mux, but no more, which saves network bandwidth in the LAN and avoids unnecessary processing. Yes indeed. Besides the ones you mentioned, it also provides independency from any 3rd parties for both, fixing issues and supporting new features like new stream descriptors or updates to broadcast technologies (like recently for DVB-T2) and so many more things... If that would be true, at least... It has been sleeping for a while a while now. It only makes sense in the context of Emby where it will be one important component and replace an area where Emby has been pretty weak and limited in the past. By now, hardly anybody is using Emby TV without any 3rd party software, be it xTeve, NextPVR, TvHeadend or one of the many others. I think there's quite a potential of users who will switch to Emby when it has proper TV support, but what counts most is the full package and the integration of all kinds of media consumption in a single application. As a standalone product, I agree to what you're saying, but Emby is an awesome product already and lifting up the one weak area it has to a top level will surely make a difference.

  43. I have an old ANTHEM STATESMAN so when I play a Movie that's only in Stereo when I turn the volume it says Stereo and if it's in 5.1, it will say it. 7.1 will be Pro Logic Neo Nexus 6+ or something like that. I can also look at the receiver and see what the Encoding is DTS or THX etc I also Downloaded a Sound test that does 5.1 and 7.1 I never had any real issues with EMBY just any time I used a streaming service i would get it in Stereo no matter what sound settings I used Dolby, Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus, nothing worked but the Emby. I am so glad I go the NVIDIA SHIELD TV PRO.

  45. @alucryd Hi guys, thank you for sharing. Let me spoiler the end first : It was quite an akward procedure but this is what I did. 1. I upgraded the Jail OS version to my current TrueNAS release 13.1 I started the embyServer within the jail and everything was still fine. 2. I upgraded all the packages within the jail with pkg update && pkg upgrade and this automatically upgraded EmbyServer from emby-server: 4.5.4.0_1 -> 4.7.6.0_2 I tried to start EmbyServer but it failed to start service, no matter what. No solution here.. 3. I manually upgraded to 4.7.10.0 but it failed because of missing dependencies: libexif, orc I installed them manually. 4. I tried a manual upgrade to 4.7.10.0 and it succeded. EmbyServer started but I wasn't able to reach the UI. 5. I Searched on the forum and find something similar behaviour which required to set this value on the Jail properties iocage set allow_mlock=1 myjail 6. I started EmbyServer again and this time everything were fine. All well that ends well

  46. Just adding on this. I got a lifetime MB3 / Emby subscription directly from Eric @ebr some 8 to 10 years ago for a $10 donation which has a grandfathered unlimited devices.. That's right $10! At any rate, I rode on that for a few years but seeing how this has significant value to my and my family's lives I now subscribe for $4.99 a month to support their efforts. even though I don't have to.
