As the title says, @softworkz teased all of us in another thread for me to post this. The number one improvement I check on this forum hoping there are updates to, sadly not so much.4 points

Good luck. I shall continue to drone on about it in a desperate show of support...3 points

@luke and Others. Forgot the post. I have update: One folder (in which this problematic movie is) has croatian letter "Č" (KRIMINALISTIČKI). I have replace that letter with "C" and all works well now. I don't know what changed as older movies in that folder were processed without any problem. But it works now!!! Many thanks to both of you for your help! Cheers!!2 points

If I got it right, the server is running on Synology, so you would probably need to have a look at the JSON of Synology's mediainfo rather the one being created on your PC as the plugin is relying on the mediainfo within the Synology. The version on Synology pretty old (22 vs. 72ish). Hope I'm not mixing stuff up here.2 points

How can you dare to think I would have forgotten about this? Can't you see it? The video compression has lost a bit of it, but it's visible. You can watch it in the browser here: https://softworkz.github.io/hlstestfiles/wmcbg/background_animation.html (make sure to size your browser to 16:9)2 points

That is bloody impressive, the only thing that is missing is the ever so subtle animation of the background white swirl. But i am super excited. congrats!2 points

It's about everything. Even including server settings. I have seen so many bad clones over the years, so for me it was either: Do it right and accurate or not at all2 points

Well, in some way yes. Super-fast playback start and channel switching has been implemented in TVnext (yet unreleased). I'll use this theme to for testing, because the other themes don't have channel up/down OSD buttons (at the moment). Besides, if you want to complain about lacking TVnext progress, you're welcome to do so, but please choose a more suitable topic (or create a new one). Thank you!2 points

Eigeplackter, I added video codec and audio codec to the editor panel for easy reference, so you can see what Emby thinks the codecs are. This should help debugging. Vic tool_2.1d.zip2 points

Now that MKVMaker is is able to get a playable DV layer when ripping a UHD, It'd be great if we could get an overlay that would indicate either HDR or DV. (would at least be really helpful for me to quickly figure out which movies I need to rerip to get a working DV MKV.) Any chance of this happening in the future?1 point

Hello ! I don't know if it's normal, but when i use my chromecast, the next episode still launch even if it's off on my account in the parameter. It's normal? I can do something about that?1 point

There have been valid answers from a general perspective, but the specific difference to most other menus is that it's a 2D Menu It minimizes the amount of remote button presses to get at what you want Which is made possible by the layout: You can go up, down, left and right. Assuming you have 24 items (like in the video) and they would be arranged in 6 rows with 4 items per row, the average number of key presses required to get at a specific item is exactly 4. In case of a single 1D menu with all a list of all 24 items coming one after another, the average is 12.5 If you would have a nested menu, e.g. 6 top items each with 4 sub-items (=24), then the average would be 5 . But It eliminates the need for submenus: You see everything at once It's not just the difference of 4 vs. 5 average clicks. When you are looking for something or do not find it with the first try, you always need to navigate into the submenu and back ( n x 2 click vs. 0 clicks ) . Avoids unnecessary Navigation Navigation is disruptive with regards to perception. The 2D start menu is just one thing and easy to memorize as such - like a map where you learn your routes quickly and intuitively - which eventually makes you find your way even without looking at the screen. What plays an essential role for that is "The Green Button" (or generic equivalents like 'Home'): No matter where you are and what you are doing: At any time, you can press the Green Button and "drive your route" with the start menu to get where you want as quickly and easy as possible.1 point

The better question is, what isn't it? That's right. Those items are just for manual selection. If the libraries are big, then that list will take a while to load (not great). I'll add something to it to help with that.1 point
-
As I understood, that is for Manual selection, I get ALL movies listed there, accoss all Movie and Mixed-type libraries?1 point
-
I believe that by splitting up the queries for each type we have fixed it. Originally if you had a mixed content folder, and point to movie folder but allow all types of folder with tv series, it would have included the mix content folder which had movies. Man it was tricky bug, and wasn't noticable right away. Now we separate the queries for each type, this stops movies from showing up from mixed content in the query. The top picks logic was also changed. we look at what was played by each user in the last 7 days. The more users watch the same thing the better it does in popularity. Then if the popular results are all over the place (ie. No one watched the same thing) we take the most popular items and order them by community rating. So at least the items that people watch are there, but the final result will be the best of them. If we have slots leftover, then we look at the library and see what was recently added, and how they stack up to the most popular items, and add the best rated. It was a lot of figuring out. LOL.1 point

just to add to what was said in the other thread - i would gladly pay for an upgrade/additional licence to cover tvnext. i'm not sure that all of the dev's appreciate how much of a gamechanger this would be1 point

Fair. Fortunately it's not a convoluted mess of what to allow, just one site. I can't imagine you didn't actually try that either. But you know how Google searches in a few years are, people looking for info in old threads and never getting any more than fractured info XD1 point

Hi, Just to confirm, this is a known issue with .m4a files. see link below https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/108897-ffprobe-not-capturing-multiple-genre-style-tags-in-m4a-tracks/ @Happy2Play, @Luke I had suggested adding it to the Knowledge Base don't know if it made it. But should at least be a standard triage question "What container ?"1 point

Eigeplackter, try this code. I think the problem was that I didn't convert the codec name to lower case. Vic tool_2.1e.zip1 point

You have to change a few things. there us a sticky thread in emby forum. You must disable the caching for the videos themselves. We only want the images cached. HOW TO: Recommended Cloudflare Settings1 point

Still stable Luke,.... Let's test voor a few more days....1 point
-
That appears to have fixed it, I'll let you know if that changes. Thanks @chef, sorry to be a pain.1 point
-
exactly! currently there have been no tests conducted on v73 in order to test this, you need to override the mkvtoolnix version and run it on a test library. We had huge issues with v71 and it actually trashed a few users media. so now i have put in logic to only be able to run on tested versions to safe guard the users media. if you turn on debug logging and run the tool without overriding the version check then the log should tell you that the version is unsupported. then if you turn on the override check and TEST on your TEST library!! It will allow it to run once overriding the check and you should see something like "EEk good luck" in the log.1 point

Any update on this? Would be pretty useful now in 2023 when HDR and DolbyVision are pretty widely used. It isn’t fringe content anymore. Thanks.1 point

Older topic but it should be something specific to this system. Do you have another machine you can connect with? Drop Down Menus No Longer Working - General/Windows - Emby Community But yes as you have seen emulating with windows size MOBILE sizes work as mentioned in that topic also.1 point

use something like iptvboss to reduce your channel list to something reasonable. as well as potentially helping with your roku issue there is no way you are using 10k channels. its pretty user friendly and quick, particularly if you are using your provider epg and can just discount whole groups of channels/VOD1 point

If emby says they are off but they are still displayed then I'm making the assumption they have been 'burnt in' to the video stream - ie you cannot remove them unless you re-encode the video again but make sure any 'burn in' subtitle settings are turned off in your encoding software (nothing to do with emby) ... Double check the file by playing it directly in VLC etc (ensuring subs are off) - if they still show - then this is your problem 100%.1 point
-
I solved this Problem by: Updating to the latest beta server version of Synology (i think 4.0.8.21). Then go to your User Settings (On Android,Web,Windows) Go to your User that you want to play on your LG Tv. Look for the Playback Settings and unmark Video Transcoding. Now it will transcode the DTS, DTS-HD, TrueHD etc. And subtitles. But the Video is untouched (direct Play,) WITH HDR. This only works for your Home Network (lan) Otherwise it says no compatible streams etc. If you want to play over (WAN,Internet) you need to check the video transcoding again. Or you create an User only for the LG App Cheers1 point

Also, thankfully ATV app allows you to press your remote's 'Play' button on an episode without having to enter the details page, so that's one less click at least.1 point

Hey Cheese. Just a word of advice - take it or leave it - but centered paragraphs of text can be quite challenging to read as your eye has to "hunt" for the beginning of the next line.1 point

I love the fact that you give credit (to Kanipek) ... I think that this is so important when people give things away for free, and if only their expertise! Thanks, and Cheers, Roodee1 point

I want to start off by saying that I have used all 3 media servers on and off for many years - more recently Jellyfin. When you go online, and visit Plex forums or Reddit etc you will see them bash it and then everyone always says try jellyfin. I have never understood why Emby almost always NEVER gets mentioned. I think they all have their pros and cons. Plex for me just has a bit nicer UI but it's not worth the functionality FAILS it has. Subs didn't work for a long time, volume levels are off. Does not have sane defaults making people select passthrough which causes more issues. I can go on and on. Jellyfin is free, and also crashes for me at times with no rhyme or reason. And they decided to sideways scroll libraries by default, to be different? Emby is the steady hand. It absolutely crushes Plex in functionality. I know this because I have quite a few friends on my server with random internet/bandwidth connections. I would get the odd text that plex crashed, Jelly crashed, Plex buffered, Jelly buffered. Emby...never. Never ever, and if it did - it's because they live on a farm with terrible satellite internet. Whatever test Emby does before it decides what bitrate to send our how it sends is it is infinitely better than Plex. On the same hardware and Network (I run them side by side) Emby has 0 issues. So. Thank you Emby Team. Keep doing what you're doing. I know there is always a need to improve, but be that steady hand. I just want my media server to work. Ty.1 point
