  1. After viewing the other thread for setting Emby server via IIS with auto renewed SSL Cert, I've decided to share my personal approach (no IIS) for non-advanced users: I kept the default Windows Installation of Emby. I setup a local scheduled job to back up the configuration files for Emby Server, so if I need to reinstall Emby one day, all configuration files are available from separate machine. I chose not to use IIS as I don't want to have the hard dependency between Emby Server with the Windows machine. I run the Emby server as it is, so the port 8096 and 8920 remain the same as its default setting. I do use the Port Forwarding feature on my router to expose the Emby server port 8920 (HTTPS) and/or 8096 (HTTP) to public. To be a bit more secured, you may choose to expose only the HTTPS port 8920 to public. You might want to ensure the firewall does not block these ports. I registered a free account on noip.com, as it offers me free DDNS hostname + a free SSL Certificate. I applied this free SSL Cert, downloaded the certificate file to the windows machine, and configured directly on my Emby server configuration page to use the corresponding SSL cert file with password. From the public to access my home Emby Server, the url will just be my free DDNS url + the port I chose to expose. It is a valid public URL with valid SSL Certificate. With such configuration pattern, the only risk is within the Windows Machine. If it is for any reason broken, all I have to do is: Install Emby Server for Windows, restore the configuration files from backup, copy SSL cert to the Emby server hosting machine Configure Router port forwarding from the Windows Machine IP, make sure the Windows machine firewall does not block the ports you want to expose Pros vs Cons: It has less dependency on the Windows Machine itself, and swapping to a new Windows machine would be easy as well. No configuration required for IIS and its required components. Emby comes with its web layer hosting, so for personal users it is a bit of overkill to setup another IIS layer. noip.com offers free tier users the DDNS service with a free SSL Certificate, so why not take the advantage of that. Of course, we might not get the "SSL auto renewal" part, but for an Emby home user/personal user, how much value we are saving by setting up the SSL auto renewal? You need to have certain knowledge of how to apply for the SSL cert on noip.com website. https://www.noip.com/support/knowledgebase/configure-trustcor-standard-dv-ssl/

  2. Background The script logs movies it believes are misidentified on TMDB. The preference algorithm is a work in progress. Currently (highest preference first) nearest year with exact match on title (title, original title and alternative titles), otherwise best word match count (title, original title and alternative titles) best levenshtein distance (title, original title and alternative titles) highest vote count It works better on a library where the filenames match TMDB and religiously follow the Emby movie naming scheme. Emby's default TMDB choice is better when there is a discrepancy with TMDB esp. year but perversely Emby's default choice was not always as reliable when media exactly matches TMDB. So far i would characterise the algorithm as a useful check on Emby's choice rather than an improvement. Requirements Powershell 7. TMDB api key and add to config. (they are free for personal use) edit config.psd1 to your preferences, add un and pw. Sample log showing 35 misidentifications (from 3500). log.csv The log contains links for easier review and actioning of suggested corrections item in emby item in tmdb (current id) item in tmdb (the suggested id) risks are low as the only changes made are to a log file. issues and suggestions welcome, interested to hear peoples results. Particularly interested in ideas/properties to improve the matching algorithm. If i can make it reliably better than Emby i would slave it to a ScriptX omediaaddded event to update the default choice. v0.0.0.2 corrected emby item url in log CheckIdentity v0.0.0.2.zip CheckIdentity v0.0.0.1.zip

  3. I'll weigh the watched status heavier in an upcoming release. Less about critic ratings, more about watched status. That will change the possible recommend items.

  5. Any amount of time we'd have to wait for this is less time than we've had to wait for Emby Theater themes. In other words, I'm grateful you put in all this work. I know what you come up with will be amazing. Emby Theater is great but I miss the customization of Mediabrowser for WMC (or Kodi).

  6. Audirium Roadmap Tracker Need feedback from music lovers and emby integration. the plan is to create seperate music app for mobile devices, but keep it integrated for desktop and tv apps. i really would love your input for An app that gives a good look and feel(spotify, Amazon music, itunes, android) what functionality needs to be included and be specific. I.e. playlists, visualisers, landing page, sorting options, etc…. Literally anything you can think of! Anything you feel is missing from any apps you use.

  7. Am using emby with LLDAP and updating the password in LDAP directly isn't supported, I've a custom self service password app setup. Is there a way to add a link in the user settings or convert the current password entry to link to my ssp app? The current password element I hide by disabling the change password setting on the user (which wouldn't do anything anyway). Am talking about this section/menu: I looked through the forum but only found ways to hide/disable items. Anyway to add? Most convenient would be if I could just set a url in LDAP settings and that it would replace the element in the background for LDAP enabled users but since that isn't option am hoping I can add/modify it myself somehow.

  10. Maybe because there are multiple headers which are not consistent, and the the programs look at them differently. Of course, the logs from Emby might help diagnose this, unless you prefer to continue this guessing game. Paul

  11. Yes Grim has covered the library option "Save with Media" Metadata will be used for Chapter images and bif file (but has an option to save with media also. Also used for Marker/FP files (IntroSkip). As for Custom path, it only applies to imported items at the time the path is applied. All previously imported items will use original path as changing path does not migrate existing items.
    1 point
  12. Edit: In other words, same will happen as if you don't have custom metadata path set: it'll still be saved with your media. Server metadata folder (either default or custom) is used for artwork only if you don't save artwork with media.

  13. Thanks to everyone for pointing me in the right direction. Using the Windows software foobar2000 and adding components OpenLyrics and Lyric Show 3 with the sister component Multi-Source Lyrics to foobar2000 works well to find synced lyrics (.lrc files) giving you two options to generate synced lyric files. foobar2000's right-click menu (after loading/selecting all music)... OpenLyrics | Search for lyrics and Download lyrics... When these components are configured properly (as explained in the thread below), these files are automatically dropped into the same folder as the music files. Emby recognizes these files and provides a spectacular synced lyrics interface which is just awesome! Thanks to the devs for all of their hard work and again thanks for everyone's help! Reading this thread was key.

  14. Is anyone else experiencing a 0 sec no result from the calculate user engagement task. server 4.7.11 and top picks .35. This was working in .34 but i had to have a specific movie library and tv library chosen. It would not work for all library's. I would provide a log Chef but nothing shows in log when i run the task.

  19. Not yet, I was waiting to see if there was any feedback or concerns with using the newer generation card and its support. I'm working on prepping the systems to be able to accept the card (I have to reconfigure things to remove a raid controller to free up the space to put the card in) in the meantime. @Luke Do you know of any reason why this newer A2 card could be a problem? I haven't used a GPU with Emby yet so wasn't sure if there was differences in the Nvidia chipsets and different drivers or support.

  25. You can ignore the optional folder requirement. Some users wanted to be able to have a rule only apply to items that are in certain sub-directories within a library, so that's what that option allows.

  26. Was asking about subnet. Already tried. I think what @Luke was asking is whether there's something about your network that is preventing Emby from knowing your phone's public IP. It's very common for people to use misconfigured reverse proxies and VPNs that mask or drop these details. They don't share the info when asking for help, then follow-up later with a "nevermind". Edit: removed subnet suggestion

  27. My TV is OLED65E6V. It really helped adding a new user, but only if I use Emby Connect to it. It remembers now the horizondial setting. Thanks for your advice!!!

  29. Hi, Emby supports lyrics. What exactly is your question?
    1 point
  30. Emby does lyrics. Can't remember what to do though. You add them yourself using something like Foobar2000 and a foobar lyrics plugin like OpenLyrics. There's a thread somewhere - or is that not what you're asking....

  35. ok so i figured it out. somehow the system was syncing something in a folder in the appdata and filled my harddrive to 100%. deleted that folder and it good now. but i dont know why/how it was syncing or what it was syncing and how to turn that off so i dont have that issue in the future. unless allowing downloads from my server will go to the sync folder first while its being downloaded?

  37. I logged with my google account in on my google tv device Then i logged out and logged in with my sons google account (so he has his layout in google tv) in google tv. I then downloaded emby and logged in there with his account... So ur saying i shouldnt have bought it twice for my daughter? But i had too cause i logged in google tv with her google account? Its messing up lol. So, i should log into google tv with my account... then log into emby with sons account, and i will be able to unlock emby again? Then what happens if i log into google tv with my sons account and i start up emby again? Will it still be unlocked or will i have to unlock (pay again) ?

  40. Luke, Apologies for forgetting to report back. Currently at 4.7.10 and Nvidia drivers 515.86.01 (CUDA Version: 11.7) This issue no longer exists.

  41. LOL I was just thinking about that today. I don't recall what all the defaults are, and the ones I have flipped I haven't really 'tested' them, so I can't say. And then you have all the different scenarios with different media where it may or may not affect your experience.

  42. Hi @Luke I discovered this problem yesterday afternoon and as yet haven't been able to resolve it. Theater is 3.0.19 | Server is 4.7.11.0 | Win10 I have found that some\ most of my movies freeze at the start, just showing the backdrop. OSD is responsive but pause\ play does nothing and the skip forward\ backwards is greyed out. Funny thing is, if I use my remote, I can skip forward and the movie will play from there. Or skip forward then rewind it back to the start and it'll play. Attached the Server log. Does Theater have a log? If so, do you need it and if so, where can I find it? At 15:22 (and about 5 seconds) I started playing Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It just showed the backdrop and didn't actually play. About 15 seconds later I pressed the skip button on my remote which skipped to the next chapter and started playing. After this log, I also tried swapping to GPU-Next and that hasn't helped. Thanks Chris embyserver.txt

  46. To the market that wants them, yes. The thing to remember is all of those companies are losing money selling you $50 devices. Those are simply vehicles to get their content to you which is where they (hope) to make money. So they are targeted at the bare minimum of streaming performance. For those who wish to have more power and more support for advanced formats (that aren't even on streaming services) you have to pay much more to make it worth those companies even providing such a box.

  47. Sadly LG rejected our app when we included the playback speed option because they noticed loss of audio in some cases when playing at a faster speed. Funny thing is, it's their video player we're using, and their function to change the speed, and thus their problem to fix. So unfortunately our hands are a bit tied on that platform right now. It is in our android apps though.
