  3. I went back and tested with AC3 direct playing, forcing transcodes using software and hardware (quicksync). I can play a movie, rw, ff, stop. Switch to another movie do the same. Go back to the first movie and continue where I left off and be able to rw, ff, jump to chapters, etc. At this point I would like to see if you can reproduce this issue using a sample file from: https://sample-videos.com/ https://filesamples.com/formats/mkv If you can reproduce the issue using a file from either of those sites anyone wanting to test this could download the same file. If the problem can't be reproduced using one of those files, we can setup a remote support session to have a look and check a few things besides taking a look at the logs. If need be, I can cut a 3 to 5 minute sample from a file. We can then add that file and make sure its still reproduceable. Having a file that can be used to reproduce this will help narrow things down a lot. IE Chromecast specific model with the issue? 4K version ok but HD version not? Carlo

  4. Hello all! I have very exciting news to share! With the most recent update 7.6.1.3 (PS7613/3686) from Amazon, passthrough of audio content works natively with the Emby app. I can confirm that my TrueHD and DTS content passes through to my Sonos and triggers the correct flag! It looks like my Shield TV can finally retire…

  5. It bothers me a bit that there are spaces between the posters landscape, etc. I think it might be worth reducing the spaces between posters like on Netflix and Disney Plus. Especially after the latest Android update added a white frame that scrolls between a movie

  7. Good Day, I had a similar problem a few months back and it was because my VPN was set to a US area. I then changed it to a non-US area, and it is still working fine. Don't know if that is your issue as well but I just thought I would put it out there. Cheers!!!

  8. I had this problem, I had to use open subs. You have to make a account but it’s worthwhile imo

  9. FYI if you go back and un-select these options when you run the user engagement task you still revive the error. Therefore we or possibly only I cannot pull from all movie library's. The only way this does not fail is to keep a library in both category's selected.

  11. As of now I have not noticed. I've been busy lately, so I haven't had time to check periodically if the same issue occurs. I will let you know if it happens to occur again.

  13. Good Day, I HAD the same issue with several providers over the years. I say several providers because at the time I was searching for a provider that I could rely on and would stay with them for some time. Longer story short, I have been with this provider for over 4 years now and I only had to eliminate the unneeded channels initially and then a second time for some refinement. I was using NP++ because it is fast and simple to use and didn't add any additional things to the file. I also found a desktop app with a GUI interface that made it even easier to edit. For instance, I could edit out tons of channels based on their grouping, language, etc. And yes, the original m3u file had well over 35,000 channels. Once I edited the file, and as long as you are using the same provider there is nothing more you need to do. Hope this helps...cheers!!!

  14. Been working on a cool feature. Added in a custom api function to allow users to create their own RAL lists to the home screen. This will let the user chose what they want for every library to be shown. Home screen with size menu implemented. expand the menu and then choose the Custom Library option then play with the options most calls will require a userId and an apiKey, the json option allow for the couple of scenarios where the Json return isn't wrapped in an Items: array Tested without json on return an empty array Test Ran with Json turned on - Returns my custom api call to get top rated items.

  15. I did try to edit the meta data to remove the wrong IDs, then refresh the metadata, but it didn't work. What I had to do was: 1. Move the folders to another non-TV folder. 2. Delete the series in Emby 3. Delete all .NFO files 4. Create/update the .NFO file for the old series 5. Move the folder back into /TV 6. Rescan/Refresh metadata 7. Confirm that the old show was picked up correctly 8. Move the newer series back into the /TV folder and rescan/refresh

  16. Found a solution myself: Unlike Emby for Android 3.2.89, the current Android version of "Hi-Fi Cast" Music Player works fine with Emby Mac Server 4.6.4.0

  18. Hi Luke, I've just upgraded to version 1.4.9 for Samsung "015 to present. My particular Samsung is a 2017 model purchased early in 2018. Unfortunately the photo section of the app is still not working. It appears to be selecting the thumbnail rather than the jpg file. I'm using a Synology NAS and embey works fine through Roku but not the Samsung and hasn't now since before 1.2.6. Any suggestions - am I doing something wrong? Many thanks for your help Regards MLJMAN

  24. Hey guys, had this happen again running 4.7.10.0. Same user as before but this time from an iphone apparently. See attached logs. Transcoding-temp file got up to 143GB before I restarted the server. ffmpeg-transcode-2affa7c2-15c2-4fc0-9efb-f3d43515d7b8_1.txt embyserver.txt

  25. The thing is, Netflix and the like have these sorts of features to advertise what's on them, because they're trying to interest you in their service. Emby doesn't need to do that, because that's not what makes them their money and because it's all your own media anyway.

  29. Yes indeed. @horstepipe - I'm afraid, but something that doesn't play in VLC or that ffmpeg doesn't eat is outside of the scope where we can do anything.

  31. That is a good idea. However I already do that and I also have a "whole house" audio system using MediaMonkey to play and control audiobooks everywhere in my home. And I have also combined it with voice control (Using Alexa) to make starting/stopping playback easy. I have a number of systems that I can tinker with but that actually fuels my desire to tinker rather than reducing it. BTW: I do not actually play my audiobooks through my Echo devices because there is not, yet, a reliable way for Alexa to play from local media and all my audiobooks are stored locally.

  34. Not sure if a lot of users know this, but Emby is really good at keeping its appdata folder size down as long as you are using the options to save artwork, subtitles and video preview thumbnails in your local media folders. This might not seem like a big deal for some, but with large libraries, the size the appdata folder grows to without these options is massive. For various reasons I run paid lifetime versions of both Emby, Plex and Jellyfin (free) on my Unraid server. I was doing some housekeeping today and made note of the appdata folder sizes: /mnt/cache_appdata/appdata/emby - 18.8 GB /mnt/cahce_appdata/appdata/jellyfin - 31.6 GB /mnt/cache_appdata/appdata/plex - 630.2 GB Emby/JF are both well contained, with Emby having the size edge. Plex is a complete pig. I run an Unraid plugin that automatically shuts down running dockers and backs them up nightly, just in case an update crashes the docker, or if a drive fails, or gremlins or whatever. I can't do this with Plex, shutting it down and backing it up nightly would mean it would almost never be running with the time it takes with the size and hundreds of thousands of files/folders, so it gets excluded from the backup process. All three of these programs have their pros/cons, but this is one area that I really do appreciate the work the Emby devs put into giving us options to keep the appdata folder lean.

  41. Oh btw I have some answers to you about the port 8096. You see they left emby running with default settings and that means they use virtual IP for cubernetes if you check the IP and port in emby you will see their internal network. So because of this they have to run it on another port for the local and wan. Seriously I am starting to understand, have setup already domain certificate from let's encrypt, ddns to update my cloudflare DNS and qbittorrent with wireguard. There are some quirks not worthy mention, but I am fallen in love with scale and emby on it. Lol bye bye Synology. Ask if I have an answer ... I will do a research now at dnla.

  42. First of all thanks for your work and sharing your configuration. Shouldn't tls1 and tls1.1 be gradually removed and tls 1.3 activated instead? I think it should be done from a safety point of view. And the devices that do not support tls 1.2 are very old.

  43. I've run Emby now for over a year and I have to say it's been awesome. It's become the only media server I use now and while I do see Jellyfin making some progress, to me it's not even a choice. From my experience as a program manager on some rather large software applications, I have to say it makes me even more impressed by Emby. @Luke , @ebr and the rest of the team spend countless hours working on the code, backend stuff and more, and yet still always have time to pop in here and talk to all us. There's only 24 hours in the day to handle such a large effort and still they focus on their users. That's awesome and not the easiest thing to do. Is there room for Emby to improve? Absolutely. Does the team know this and strive to always improve the product? From my experience, the answer is a simple yes. The whole team here at Emby has been awesome to work with and please know your efforts never go unnoticed!

  44. Hi. Your server is what needs to be able to access the media. I'm not sure if it is possible to make that hard drive available on the network but I think that is what would be required.
