Wow! Even though it is a completely different thing than the "Recommend to a user" plugin we discussed here in this thread, this feature is also awesome. It can be like "Popular now" on Netflix, or just a custom list of things to recommend to everyone.. I like it. I do still however want the per-user recommendation system as well..

I dunno... seems pretty awesome from where I'm seeing it. Might be just me being biased though. I mean it isn't a user based recommendation system, Sure... In order to actually pull that off, things would have to be implemented in the core, or you can implement what @rbjtech has suggested, which is also awesome. But this channel plugin will implement Bayesian Like Algorithms (like the ones that are used in platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Youtube) and use them in Emby. Auto calculates Top Pick items based on user views, and liked items. If you turn it on... You also don't have too turn that feature on at all, and just create a completely custom channel you want to share with your user base. With the auto feature turned on though, the more your user base watches (and/or likes) items, this channel can reflect it. I think it's gonna be awesome. I also didn't mean to highjack this thread. I apologize. But I will post a short video (with some super weird music), that shows a very early look at what is accumulating behind the scenes.

I will need to consult my experts on this @FrostByte and @rbjtech - I am literally just the coder and understand the concept of the formats but no expert at all on the various layers. I can say that... we are giving as much information as possible that MediaInfo allows us to provide accurately for the end user. And also adding in other specific conditions to derive other formats. Let see what we can do.

@LukeIs there a plan for Skip Intro as well or is it already implemented? Because of the outdated release notes we don't know the current features for Emby for Apple TV. @ebrIs it possible for you to update the release notes, once there are updates available? Also bring them up to date? 1.5.2 is the latest note, if i'm not mistaken we are at version 1.6.3. We seem to be missing quite a bit. Again, not here to complain, but to help and see where support and communication can improve.

@Luke I feel like an absolute idiot now...I didn't even notice the https symbol showing up as I was so used to clicking a bookmark but recently wiped my laptop and started typing in the website. That fixes one problem but what about the few times I'm not able to log in on a new device and choose my server? I get the same error message.

Not all of those are specific to apple tv. But anyway, we are currently working on unifying the video player with the iOS app which is going to mean better playback, pip support for iOS, and finally a unified OSD for apple tv. So that's going to be a big improvement.

I'd really like to have 2 Factor Authentication added to the login screen. It's just this (optional) extra layer of security to help secure the server (which, especially if people use camera uploads) contains pretty private data. There are for every type of programming language quite a few libraries available, so implementation on a server shouldn't be too hard to realise

Hello, I would like to address an issue in regard to the Emby Team and communicating about the Apple TV client. It is a client that in your portfolio but yet it's being forgotten, the release notes are not up to date. If there is a new version available there is no update on the forum anymore. Development is also an issue it seems, please don't treat a product in your own portfolio as a forgotten child. As stated by Emby developers, they want all Clients more or less the same, but yet some features are not being pushed to the Apple TV. All i'm trying to say is, treat all of your clients like they are the same, doesn't matter the amount of active users. Keep your buying customers happy it's the whole reason Emby as a company exist <rant/> Besides this issue i'm an avid fan of Emby and their products!

@pünktchen ( cannot screenshot the active video layer just the overlay but there is playing video beneath these stats for nerds ) I am working on getting the Roku application to work better with your plugin. I can get direct play with the original container using playlist live. But at first it fails with a playback error. Then it resumes with playback recovery and immediately works with direct play. Since you have matured this plugin so much it seems a shame the Roku is being stubborn. I will figure out where the difficulty lies and get back to you in this thread. But good news is always good.

You are correct, it did not cause a problem. However, it quickly did 3 albums, then said it was done. I started it again and it finished. I have quite a few albums, so it cranked for a while but got it all correct. I just don't really know why it does this quick scan and then stops. It seems kind of random as to where it quits the first time, and always seems to finish the second time. BTW, I have no use for Premiere, but I would like to make a contribution. I used to be a developer, so I want to kick in something. Is there a link? I can't find anything that tells me how to do this. I loaded up all my movies, tv shows and playlists. They all work just fine. Going to dump Plex.

FYI BillOatman, this likely is a change since you created plugin, the donation version is no longer required for processing ts files (I tested on windows) nor (according to comskip site grid) realtime ts (I haven't tested). In any case I think a $10+ donation to comskip is a fine idea, besides it does give you the option to multithread and 2 threads are nearly twice as fast at finishing the task, so well worth the investment for that parameter alone. BillOatman, may I suggest you add that thread_count=2 to your ini, I've tested and even in the public version it doesn't complain (or say anything for that matter) about that parameter being set, it just ignores it so it does no harm for public version and in donate version it can lead to a significant increase in performance. Thank you for that provided ini as it has worked great in the testing I've done.

Idk i got a Samsung Tizen which is 1 and a half years old rn, no ads anywhere. If by launcher you mean that icon in the bottom home menu, on mine that was controlled by one app but i just deleted that and since then i am fully ad-free.

Don't almost all TVs have ads now? I've been looking for a new one myself as my Samsung is coming up on 5 years. Just looking at review on Rtings and everything they test says there are ads.

In summary, we need to get correct DV Colour space to SDR conversion in ffmpeg to create the thumbnail images. The latest ffmpeg 5.1 does support DoVi - but I just haven't had the time to play with it yet and what this really means. Identifying 'Dovi' is one thing, but unless that translates into all the ffmpeg filters - then it's not gonna get us much. As @Cheesegeezer says - lets see what we can do ...

Right now, it's available in US, UK and Ireland in the Samsung store. For TVs 5 years old and newer they are still accepting updates. Samsung no longer takes updates for Tizen TVs from 2015 and 2016, but you can still install the last one submitted before.

That is a fairly accurate way, but the true way would be to analyze the metadata for a frame. You can to that with dovi_tool and I believe Softworkz posted a few pics of a new version of ffmpeg that displays FEL/MEL. It won't be long and there will be more and more devices which can actually utilize the FEL and not just the RPU on mkv DV7 movies. I would like this additional information myself.

Oh yes, unfortunately it does not support all audio formats. But still it is a huge step forward that a streaming device (therefore not a bluray player) can process all Dolby Vision profiles! Especially at that price! Now it would be handy for the MediaInfo plugin to add "MEL / FEL" in DV7 videos, as my tv can play everything up to MEL. When I find films in FEL I switch to Chromecast. edit in my opinion the next versions of the devices you have listed will have the right hardware. Dolby Vision is now becoming a common choice.

I am writing in this old post just to update information. Sony Bravia TVs (or at least the one I have, A8H - 2020) can play profiles 5 profiles 8 and even 7 MEL (not 7 FEL). Profile 7 must necessarily be in single track (makeMkv). All this tested by me with Emby app for android Sorry if all this has been known for some time and I have written obvious things

..yep, I can confirm that the trick work...but is a pain in the rear :-S ..I had to move folders in and out of the library to be able to have one with all metadata in spanish and other in english..many times updating things they got merge again and back to square one...but at the end it works.. btw, why the "lock metadata" option is a "lock but if...", there are scenarios where the software just ignore the option and it Do make changes in content where you set the option On...lock should be lock until the user alone disable it (IMHO)...

local on kodi, they are not, only subtitles on the emby server are usable. In the settings this is just a read only list of what your default view is for each content type is. To set this you need to navigate to an item of a type like a movie or an episode then open the EmbyCon context menu and select "Set as default view" this will use the current view when showing that sort of item. This is useful if you have a particular view you like to use for say episodes, instead of having to change the view and have kodi remember it you can just set and it will be used for all episodes lists in the future. In the EmbyCon settings Events, set "Play next episode after %" to 100%, you will need to restart Kodi. Bring up the EmbyCon context menu and select either "Mark watched" or "Mark unwatched" If this item is in two libraries it might cause this. Not sure as I have not seen this before. Try creating a new node with in progress for just the library you are interested in. If Emby server is showing them as a season then so will EmbyCon. You will need to work out how to stop that, this is more a server question so might be best to ask in the General server forum.

I have edited the xml and related it to the next up plugin and adjusted the position for me, for me it is now exactly how I wanted it. Maybe I can make someone else happy with it. For me will be Futurama and The Simpsons, my original media is only in Spanish latinamerica, but later with all the changes with the dubbing stuff and starting to try to get use to the original English audio, so I prefer to have both, for nostalgia with the original audio that I hear, but also the "official" one... Right now I trying to apply the suggested fix but can't make it work...every time I add the duplicated tv show they get fuse together with the original one...I don't understand why the "merge" option is not available for mixed content, those are tvshows too...and the reason to actually choose mix content is because is not as simple as a single tv show folder...like old Hulk or Six Billion Dollar Man, those have movies, etc, ...so my guess is that the merge option should be more use in these scenarios than with regular shows... @Happy2Play Thanks! Hi. I don't feel their situation has much bearing on this request as we do not have a central repository of all Emby users like the other guys. YOU control your users. Any 2FA to your own server instance would only serve to protect those users on your server. We do have optional Emby Connect but that is completely optional and easily managed by you. Now, this request is still valid but the exposure for our system is nothing like it is for theirs.

Hi Cheese. finally got round to testing VP playback and i had an issue but pretty sure i have resolved it now. it was user perception but you might want to think about how some of the setup is described. What i wanted - a single intro chosen at random from a folder with X intros in What i chose - single intro option, entered the path as the folder What happened - nothing I worked out from looking at your xml you uploaded that i the single intro option expects to be pointed at a specific media file not a folder and that i need to see the folder tag in the xml for it to work. I'm retrying now with the proper setup and expecting it to work. So either you need an error when a user points a single intro option at a folder and not a single file or some better description of the options IMO Hope this helps - let me know if anything unclear

I would check out both ZeroTier and TailScale which are very similar products. They both have a free tier you would easily fit into with 50 and 20 devices on the free plan. Essentially both allow you to setup your own private VPN service where you setup and control the clients and use of your VPN. It's rather elegant in how they work. Your first node will the the Emby Server machine. Your Emby Server node machine opens a port to their server and basically lays dormant until a client you setup on a PC or phone want to access it. So if you were on your phone, you would turn on the ZeroTier client which logs you in. As soon as you try to access your Emby Server a connection is established directly from your phone to the Emby Server. The tunnel that was open and checking in now sees you want to use it. It's a clever solution to this problem as your Emby server opens a connection to their server and says "I'm ready let me know what one of my authorized devices needs me" and then just goes dormant until needed. The key is that there is an active connection open just not doing anything. So your Emby Server has punched through the CGNAT and blocking your ISP has in place. The only semi tricking part is installing the software on the devices. It's not hard and well documented but might take reading a couple of times to sink in. The way they both work is that you get your very own IP space with your own dedicated IPs for each device. This are "reserved" and unrouteable IPs on the public internet and meant just for this type of private use. So the key and take away is that your Emby Server will have one of these reserved IP all to itself which you need to use. It's this IP you will use in the clients you use remotely and not what is shown on Emby Dashboard. It doesn't not matter if you always use this IP even when your home on your own LAN as you'll just have a tunnel that never leaves your LAN. This private tunnel can should be left on for the Emby Server but might want to be manually turned on/off on cell phones if you pay for data as a precaution. Try both ZeroTier and TailScale to see if one works better for you or if you like the setup/GUI better. https://www.zerotier.com https://tailscale.com PS This these have absolutely nothing to do with other common VPNs you hear people talking about like PIA, NordVPN, etc. The only thing they have in common is the fact they both use encrypted tunnels. Other than that they work fundamentally different. The only traffic that should ever pass through ZeroTier or TailScale in your use is to your Emby Server and not any other traffic as that will not be any different then it is now.

I hope one day Emby can play music from downloads if a download exists for that song (especially when I only downloaded the songs from within the playlist and don't have all the songs from that album downloaded). So if i am in the playlist view and the download button is ticked (highlighted blue) because i have downloaded that playlist, I would like it to play from the downloaded file. That way when I drive through a dead-zone my music is not interrupted.
