Usually 2-3 weeks. We submitted 4.7.6 at the beginning of this week. Our Synology contact is now a new person, so that may or may not have an impact on response time.3 points

I think it probably needs to be there as an option because the zoomed poster is not always very obvious - especially if you look away from the screen and then back at it. Your eye has to hunt around for the one that is (slightly) larger instead of immediately snapping to an item that looks very obviously different (is highlighted).3 points

I just tried adding a book to the 'Book' library type. It was quite disappointing, to say the least. Can we please get this implemented sooner rather than later? The only feature apparently implemented is 'download'. No coverart, descriptions, identify, metadata, or ability to read the book. I haven't tried it yet, but from the thread above, it seems like I can't even use local *.nfo files to specify metadata. For a data source, the Internet Archive's Open Library has 20 million records, an open API, client software, and very reasonable throttle limits (no more than 100 covers in five minutes). It is quite a robust API offering. API Docs I understand adding readers to the multitude of emby clients may be quite the task, but getting the library management and metadata stuff on the server shouldn't be too bad. Same with getting a reader into the Emby Theater clients. Thanks.2 points

You mean this is something you've considered? I'd love to be able to associate an album to a movie/series in my collection.2 points

Emby Server 4.7.6 - Multi-Select & Right to Left Languages This is the latest point release of Emby Server containing fixes for identified issues. Support shift to multi-select Newly added to 4.7.6 is the ability to multi-select. Instead of having to select each and every media item you can now select the first media item as shown below: then holding the shift key on your keyboard, select the top-left circle with your mouse on your end media item. In two quick clicks we now have 18 items selected in this example! Right to Left languages: 4.7.6 adds support for languages that display right to left. Here's an example Nest Hub view using the Hebrew language. Other improvements and fixes include: Improve filter menu indicator Add Select None to multi-select lists Fix regressions related to image extraction Improve the use of internet metadata with recordings Improve photo loading performance Include activity log database file when vacuuming databases Mark all video versions as played when toggling played Change wording of transcoding reasons to be more user friendly Fix sort by sort title being case sensitive in some views Fixes for file names with years at beginning Improve dsd/dsf playback over Dlna Original Blog posts for the 4.7 release: Emby Server 4.7 Release: Many New Features, Improvements and Fixes Emby Server 4.7.1 - Point Release: Round 1 Fixes Emby Server 4.7.2 - Point Release: Round 2 Fixes Emby Server 4.7.4 - Point Release: Round 3 Fixes Emby Server 4.7.5 - Point Release: Round 4 Fixes Please report any issues you may have in the General/Windows section of our Community Forums: Emby Community General/Windows Forum View the full article2 points

Hi, yes I agree. It's something we're interested in for future updates. Thanks for the feedback.2 points

As I'm transitioning from Volumio and Plex to Emby to centralize my usage to one app, the one thing I'm missing the most is gapless playback. This is particulary annoying when listening to albums like "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd. I'm experiencing a buffer of about 1 second in between songs, which really ruins the immersion. Would be awesome if this would be implemented in both the Chromecast, and web player.1 point

As a feature, it is good to see what soundtrack is playing (song and artist) in the movie or in the episode. so that people can go and listen to the song they like on Spotify or other services. The tunefind website provides data on the songs playing in each episode in a series and movies. i think they have the api too. Here is a sample video to illustrate what i mean. sample.mp41 point

I moved from Plex to Emby and even though I think Emby is superior in its flexibility there are some things I like better with Plex, especially in terms of its looks. This theme is trying to fix that by making it a bit more similar to Plex but with some, in my opinion, improvements. The CSS is attached to this post for anyone interested and below are some screens to show it off Good to know I only use Chrome so I can't guarantee this CSS works as expected in other browsers. If you want the sidebar menu to look like in the screens, make sure to pin the sidebar. Watched badge/banderoll is inverted which means that the badge will not be shown if media have been watched, like in Plex. For desired look, please use the "Dark" theme for both Theme & Settings theme in the display settings. Emby-Stable-style-v3.6.txt1 point

@chef @Cheesegeezer Another amazing production is about to be brought to you from devs - Cheesegeezer - I have started a new theme to bring to the masses. I am a long way off completion however we can continue to update you on the progress. The layouts are about 80% complete and once completed we can start to work on the code behind. We are interested in a closed group of testers when the time comes. I would just like to say that this was originally designed for Emby WMC back in 2014 and was just release there when M$ ditched support for WMC and the project died. @shaefurr did an amazing job with the concept artwork for me to work with back then, and this theme pays homage to him. So with out further ado... here's some of the layouts that are now coded. I periodically download/remove albums in the Android app. I need a visual indication that I've already downloaded an album to my phone in the grid and single item views to make that process sane.1 point

At the risk of really confusing the issue further..... I also have an Nvidia TV Shield Pro (2019). When the server is off and I open the Emby app on the shield, I have to select the server at which point it immediately sends out the following WOL broadcast. You will see it has a recognisable IP sending address as being on the LAN (i.e. 192.168.1.149), the first 3 entries have the correct MAC,, destination is 255.255.255.255, and no 'password' token ..... and one of these requests actually woke the server up and kept it awake even when I tried to manually put the server to sleep! Thanks for following up. Yea I wasn't sure we were going to find anything in the app because you're exactly right - the mac address comes from the emby server.1 point

Cayars has been an awesome tech support while securing the Emby server on my system. He is verry patient and highly knowledgeable and has enabled fast access to my Emby server via a https address. I highly recommend him setting up and securing your Emby server on any platform.1 point

I've lost track of what you're trying to do. What exactly are you trying to do on the Mac? How many different Emby Servers are you running?1 point

pretty certain. yes thats how the uk soaps all work. no series number, just an episode number. they have never recorded with the episode number though - just the date/time. its the same for all daily shows, news included. ok1 point

I'll let you know when I'm able to try it. I'll try get back to you during the weekend.1 point

What exactly is it you're trying to do on the Mac? I don't know if this is any help to you but this is good information to know. Pretty much anything you don on one platform is the same on another platform except for where the base set of Emby files get installed which are OS dependent. To find the basic location of where Emby is installed you can look at the beginning part of the server log which will have this info or you can quite easily click the 3 dot menu on the Dashboard then click View Server Info Debian Linux Example Windows Example1 point

@Luke I disabled the DLNA settings and yes, the errors have gone away! Thanks as always, I truly appreciate the Emby product.1 point

https://superuser.com/questions/37512/how-to-read-ext4-partitions-on-windows "Generally, Android devices accept the SD card that has been formatted to FAT32, ext3, ext4, and exFAT" If I were you (without linux), for sure I would reformat my SD into some format which I can read on my computer as well (like FAT32, or better exFAT which works well across Win, Mac, Linux). Of course, this doesn't necessarily solve your problem, however, you might want to try formatting it as FAT32 or exFAT, in which case Android might be unable to deny access to any folders on it. Of course2: an Emby option would be pretty nice for finetuning the exact default location after selecting "External storage", to just let us override if that's not suitable for us. You might want to try another explorer which claims it can read data folder on SD cards: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/android-11-cannot-access-android-data-folder.4225293/1 point

Ello Dicky! im between a rock and a hard place at the moment. Are you running beta server or release. i am running Beta 4.8.0.7 and had to refactor the code to accommodate some core implementations which are not compatible with the release version. would you like to join our testing group? Its 95% there and could do with another tester if you are up for it?1 point

As the setting say at next startup, but it varies per database size. But really shouldn't take more than a minute.1 point

OK, just a followup - definately appears to be resolved with the beta client. I wasn't even aware of it's existence, so I will add that to TS steps in future for any issues. Cheers1 point

Have to agree with Luke - all the failed/denied attempts have been with emby connect. Connectivity to your remote host is good (I can connect at an IP layer) so I think it's either a local user configuration issue or the clients have been set to use emby connect rather than a direct remote host. I would also disable/remove the Portmap plugin as presumably you are doing direct port forwarding on your router/firewalls ?1 point

In case you are downloading media to *internal storage*, only Emby will see those files (unless you have a rooted phone). You want to change the location to *external storage* in admin menu, then you can access these files easily from other applications (even without rooting your phone). By default, on my phone these files are downloaded into Download/emby_downloads.1 point

Thanks, Luke. None of them have Emby accounts and I'm the one testing so I know it isn't a Connect attempt. That being said, I am going to try to create an Emby account for my daughter, add that info in the dashboard, verify local login, then try remotely and see if that works. I'm not against using connect. I've just been too lazy to set it up for them. (And yes, I know it's been years lol)1 point

@user101xy Are you good now? Do you still need any assistance this evening or can we cancel that now? Carlo1 point

Hi. It probably got removed. Try re-linking your local user with your emby connect email by blanking it out in the server user configuration, saving, and then re-entering it.1 point

If I may suggest in the interim: have users re-open the video when switching players Tbh, I sometimes have to stop and resume videos when switching audio outputs and since the UI is quick it's a minimal inconvenience. If I knew it was required, I wouldn't even think twice.1 point

Hi. In that case, you want to uncheck these options: Please let us know if that solves your issue.1 point

@MachineLearning Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!1 point

AFAIK that depends on the size of the window, I don't see it either on Fulscreen or 1920x1080p maximized window, but once windowed that gap shows, so you might end-up with overlapping text. If you go Fullscreen, does tab-bar move up?1 point

The best method is to learn to do it "right". By that I really mean the normal or typical way. Once you learn the basic skill to do this it works for Linux, BSD, Synology, Mac and even Windows. Basically, the nutshell version is to turn on SSH on the host. Then use a SSH client to connect to the host. You can then go superuser or root with sudo -i or su depending on OS. At that point you have access to the whole file system. You will want to google Linux command line basic commands to learn how to mkdir (make a directory), cd (change directory, mv (move files or folders), cp (copy files or folders), ls (list directory) or ls -l (get long version), etc. The above are key things to know when you want to do things past what an OS GUI allows. Tools such as WinSCP are sort of band aids in a sense but you are far better off spending an hour or two watching a couple Youtube videos and some basic googling to learn these basic techniques. There really is no alternative as these are basic skills an admin of the system should know or be familiar with.0 points

I had the same issue figured it out though. All you have to do is make a second jail for the plug in to work, you have to setup a dummy jail for it. You shouldn't have to do this but for some reason you have to now with all plug-ins to install and work.0 points
