I finally bought a HDHomerun Flex and got everything set up in Emby, which was easier than expected. And so far, the Synology hasn't been too stressed since all the OTA formats in my area have been direct streamable at worst. Looks like I can retire my AirTV and remove Sling. Thanks Emby.3 points

One thing the streaming community hasn't done well is really create tools that allow us to simulate live TV well. I think the biggest reason that binging on Netflix (and Emby) is so popular is because you push a button and go. I'd like to see Emby create a "To Watch List" that basically allows you to sort shows into a specific order. When you watch that list, it will only play the most recent episode of each show in the list that premier inside that week. Lets pretend I made a DC TV Watch list, it would only play this weeks episode of Arrow, Flash, Legends, Supergirl and Gotham one after another. If an episode didn't premier that week, it gets skipped. Additionally, I'd like to see this system *ALSO* allow us to insert bumpers similar to Cartoon Network or Toonami. In the here and now, it would only insert bumpers between the series, but it would be nice if in the future, a system that allows some method for choosing the appropriate points between each act of an episode where bumpers could also be inserted. Bumpers would be a community thing to create, but inside the "to watch list", you'd choose what bumpers (if any) are used. Bumpers could even be surrounded by previews. Finally, another thought: while Emby already can pull Movie Trailers, it might be another cool future project if we could pull previews of related series not in the "To Watch List" and/or perhaps ones that aren't on your server that are similar to what you are watching. There's a lot of ideas in this post to digest and several should be their own project as part of this concept. Thoughts2 points

Until you guys have a working poc i would suggest using the dev forum otherwise you are going to get a lot of genral random "make the button green" sort of chatter and side track discussion before you know it.2 points

Hi there, In browsing my collection of movies on my Apple TV, I noticed that if movies are grouped into collections I can’t tell if I’ve watched them without diving in deeper. Would it be possible to have it display the tick in the corner if all movies in the collection are marked as watched? Cheers, Brad2 points

Ok so my request is to be able to search each library separate as it stands when you search it searches everything, and if like me you have 30k music tracks 10k books/comics 10k episodes and 10k+ movies, searching is slow so is it possible to have a search section for each library individually1 point

Sometimes when searching for a movie to watch I will set numerous filter criteria (Unplayed - Action - 2014 - PG13) for example. After Ive found what Im looking for its sort of cumbersome to have to go back in and unselect all the above individually. Any chance we can get a "clear all" button of some sort to get you back to viewing your entire library unfiltered? Plex does this and its very convenient. Thanks!1 point

Emby Server 4.7.5.0 running on i5-3470 with Intel HD graphics. Windows 10 H1H2. 8gb RAM. Emby Theatre 3.0.15 on direct wired Windows 10 client Direct Play stream from HD Homerun Quatro Premier subscriber with Hardware Transcoding turned on. Changing channels, particularly HD channels can take up to 9 seconds to commence playback. Painfully slow when compared to the native HDHomeRun Windows app which starts the stream within 4 seconds. I get this issue across the board with all of my client devices, although I use Emby Theatre the most. Stats for nerds is showing that the stream is being Direct Played - 10mbps @ 25fps. Lipsync is pretty terrible too. Network is gigabit ethernet between all devices. Network switch is Ubiquiti. Dropped frames is 0 I snapped the specific log file entry from the point I clicked play, to the point the stream started playing properly. Attached. I've also attached the full log as required. I have an app working, that Im happy with the functionality of. It syncs user data (play status, favorites etc) between two servers. I would like to convert this into an Emby Plugin. Right now its a desktop application. Im looking to get some help in the conversion. All of it is open source, none of it is proprietary, and I have no desire to use it for any financial gain. Hey everyone, I just updated to 4.7.6 yesterday and it seemed to clean up any stuttering that was occurring on my end with h265 (hevc) files using Direct Play. (Xbox Series S was tested on) I’d have a look yourselves if any issues are still occurring. I’m still not sure what was causing the issue but it seems to be corrected on my end for now. @Luke I’m honestly not sure what the issue was, since the update, I’ve tested the same movies/TV shows (A mix of MKV/MP4 - HEVC/h265 files) that stuttering occurred on whilst Direct Playing. All are running buttery smooth now. I haven’t changed anything about the files nor any settings under Emby. I never experienced stuttering whilst playing MKV/MP4 - AVC/h264 file types either. Stats for nerds never showed dropped frames previously for those HEVC files, so I’m not really sure what was going on in the first place. It was definitely noticeable enough to where I switched to my Samsung TV app (which played them perfectly) for the time being however. If you’d like any more information please feel free to ask, I’ll contribute any way I can.1 point

Check your Xbox device after the latest update guys, it seems to have solved my stuttering issues. I did do a fresh install of Emby on my Xbox as well so that could’ve been the reason too. Just thought I’d put it out there.1 point

Hi Neik, sorry fella been out for a while, yes it’s fixed but I’ve added subtitle extraction since and remux removing unwanted pictoral subtitle languages. Its just about complete now. I should have a release by the weekend.1 point

I have Emby installed on synology kodi installed on firestick. so going by your last response made me think that kodi has a default in progress and Emby plug-in also has in progress. when I open plugin I go to tv shows then in progress tv shows and there it shows correctly but when I try the same thing in kodi default option it is the screenshot I sent blank. so I am thinking of customizing the skin to show it under the tvshows as a submenu and use your Emby plug-in! thank goodness I use the Emby plug-in A very Happy Premiere subscriber On a side note an fyi I was going to upgrade Emby server to 4.7.6.0 but the official Emby Docker registry is only showing up to 4.7.5.0 no biggie just so you are aware thank you for all your help this makes life a lot easier bryan1 point

I think maybe some clients can take the media directly from the storage server*, but the usual arrangement is that it is routed via the Emby server. When the server is direct playing (i.e. just passing on the file exactly as received) there is no appreciable overhead - and your network has ample bandwidth to handle it as well - so any benefit of bypassing the Emby server is trivial. Of course, when direct streaming (i.e. re-muxing into another container for compatibility) or transcoding (re-encoding using a different codec) is required, the Emby server is inevitably involved. Note that direct streaming is also a negligible overhead on the transfer, and so also nothing to be concerned about. Paul * The recent major update to the Shield's firmware caused problems with this, but I haven't really followed how this stands now, as I don't have a Shield.1 point

Hello. I'm currently using EmbyforKodi 6.2.20 with Kodi 19.4 and Emby server 4.7.6.0 for Windows, which I believe are the latest, stable releases for these software. I "heart" some TV shows in Windows, and they show up in Emby: Favorite Shows in Kodi. Later, I "unheart" a few shows, and they disappear from the favorites list, but they still show up in Emby: Favorite Shows in Kodi. AFAIK, the addon is working correctly as newly added movies show up. I tried updating the whole library but some of the "unhearted" shows are still there. Has anyone been experiencing similar issues?1 point

If users are like me - they are still using it rather than the Core - so I'll just post the version that I am using (with the Chapters fix). v1.0.0.3 attached (zip) - This fixes the chapters issue and correctly imports the hidden emby core 'markers' that now work with the Emby Clients to get the 'button'. Note, metadata on the previously incorrectly added items will need to be refreshed - and then re-run the chapters task in the plugin to correctly re-add them. Once the import has completed, and you are happy with the results - you can then uninstall the plugin and use the Core Introskip version instead as you wish. I just wanted to say that last week @cayarsremotely logged into my setup and upgraded my Synology NAS operating system and upgraded me to the latest Emby Server and his support was fantastic. He also tweaked my existing setup so it run much more smoothly and suggested improvements I could make on my own. He is a credit to the Emby team. @Luke Pleased to say that update to the standard Android app is back to Direct Playing 7.1 audio without the need to remux or transcode. However, the standard app is still so sluggish and unwieldy on the Chromecast that I’ll continue to stick with version 2.0.70g of the Emby for Android TV app for now. If you guys do whatever you did to resolve the playback issue in the standard app update in the next Android TV update, we’ll be right as rain. Thanks again.1 point

Yes this idea could work but would require database changes I would think with this route, as isFavorite is Userdata. So an additional column would be needed.1 point

I fully understand this, maintain infrastructure costs time and money. I have no idea about the userbase emby has but looking at the tv market share ( https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1645428019 no idea if this source is reliable) it looks like there is samsung then nothing then lg. I would say having a "premiere only" option would be better then having no option. Anyway I don't want to bother you further, just saying a clear answer telling us not to except with a official client this decade is also fine for me. Just clear communication, "working on it" for several years doesn't make anyone happy I think. thanks for your great software1 point
