  1. Yep - I'm with Dave - until the Core Introskip is in a position to actually replace the Plugin (even from an Intro only perspective) - then the plugin remains 100% valid, still has 100's of users (maybe more) and thus still needs support where necessary. Once the core can cover the basic items (such as editing) - then we can look at taking the Intro part out to avoid this ongoing confusion. We can also probably rename the Plugin to CreditSkip (and maybe add Movies into the mix..) to avoid further confusion lol - and probably at this point - we can close this long running thread ?

  2. Apologies for the disruption. New builds of 4.7.3 are on the way up and should be finished uploading within the next hour. Additionally we're going to tag a 4.7.4 after that just to ensure that everyone gets notified that there is an update/resolution available.

  3. I noticed that the "total members" for this forum is at 951,107 members and it occurred to me that upon reaching 1,000,000 a celebration might be appropriate with drinks and party favors. Of course it is possible that Emby might look upon it as a cause for sorrow or concern, who knows? Personally I feel the misery really does love company so the more the merrier.

  7. You can change library order on the web app via Home Screens The unlocked apps doesnt count towards the premiere limit, and the device list has no relation with the device count is just a log for devices that at least connected once to the server.

  8. I completely agree and I sincerely hope things cool down as he clearly a valued developer. He has published many great plugins and provided a lot of support for all of them not just this one. I’m honestly watching my email notification like a hawk hoping he replies as I feel like a right a-hole. Never intended to upset anyone and the only reason to reach out here was to help compile peoples requirements and requests - it should have just meant quicker delivery. As I mentioned, conversation in our chat has been the complete opposite of what is mentioned here and we have been discussing the different features with a number of end users to get the best product out for people. Hopefully he is just busy and can understand no malice was intended here.

  9. I also have a Beethoven boxset which is 100 discs long. So, some kind of indication of what's on disc X would be helpful in choosing which sonata or symphony a person wishes to listen to. The DISC TITLE or DISCSUBTITLE field used by musicbrainz which ffprobe sees as TSST could be added to the db if not there already. Then the title of the disc could be placed next to the disc # Example: Disc 1 Disc Title Disc 2 Disc Title

  10. I found some kind of solution. Set subtitles color to black with white background at 50% opacity. Now they are readable in HDR without burning your eyes.

  12. So I have some playlists of music I want to download for offline play for when I don't have internet connection (like when I'm driving) - then I went to download the playlist I click the download button and it downloads all the albums associated with the playlist, however it does not actually download the playlist itself. Is this normal behavior or am I doing something wrong?

  13. My request is to be able to chose to add items to the home screen. Specifically in my case, I am thinking of playlists and collections. Here's some reasons I'd like to see this: The home screen is the first piece of the user interface a person will see when they pull up Emby. I often places movies in bulk into my media library. This sometimes means people never see the new movie I've made available. Happens a lot, actually. While all movies are searchable or can be found by sorting, I believe the interface would benefit from having the customization option. I have created a "Justin Recommends" collection and would LOVE to be able to put that on the home screen. By keeping this optional, no one is forced to use it. If you don't have a use-case, then it's just a feature. If you look at things like Netflix, many movies and shows get "featured" and by doing that, a lot of people end up watching that wouldn't otherwise (imagine if The Tiger King was just another buried documentary you had to hunt for, no one would have heard of it). I appreciate your time. If you've considered this before and decided against for reasons other than difficulty implementing the feature, I'd ask you to reconsider. I believe that being able to customize our servers helps us personalize and tailor them to our audience and our needs, and that helps promote a feeling of ownership. I also truly believe that this small change could lead to some powerful results. In my case, I know that it would be of huge benefit to accomplishing what I would like to do with my Emby server. Thank you.

  14. I have some large boxsets (upwards of 66 discs) and it would be massively convenient if multi disc albums had the option to be treated more like collections (so select boxset, then album, then track) rather than one massive album (select boxset, scroll..., select track). If each disc could be titled it would be even better. All this info (disc names etc) is already available of musicbrainz.

  15. Hello again. I decieded to buy emby for fire tv. I bought it already and im happy with it. But there is one thing im actually missing. I have a movie collection created. The screen is full of pictures from the movies to choose them from there. Is it possible to change the layout from pictures to title text of the movies only? Thanks. Regards. Fry

I do feel that i may have got over excited about the exit codes and this may be the issue here. on the point of PCM’s can you share your json? are we looking at an aac pcm… because if its not adding anything to the mix then probably not worth it.

  23. Hey Abo!! How’s tricks. i would like to get input from @rbjtech @samuelqwe @chef - if he pops in to me we should close this thread and start a new one i agree. We (i guess me now) needs to figure out how to strip the intros from the plugin. Problem is until the core team have an editor i wanna keep it in.

  25. I found an issue when removing items in very special cases. Unfortunately (due to a lag of reported info from Emby server) I need to write some workarounds. The fix fill take a while. Several changes needs to be done.

  28. I find that to be the best may to maintain my library. I was dragged, kicking and screaming, into the realization that storing my metadata with my library actually makes maintenance easier and, although the directories "look" cluttered, the support files, even bif files, are quite small and the apparent "clutter" can easily be ignored. I have had a couple of disk crashes in the last few years and that storage method allowed me to easily see what was missing after the crash. I use DrivePool and I can say that it saved me a lot of trouble but its "duplication" feature was incomplete after the first crash so I actually lost some videos but, having support files stored in the same location allowed me to easily see what was missing and that meant easily finding in my backups the files that were actually missing. After examining and contemplating my setup I have decided that storing all metadata alongside my media is, by far, the best option for me.

  30. Hi - Many thanks for the feedback and suggestions. I chased down the problem. It was the nameserver address for the VPN connection. For some strange reason, when connecting to PPTP it was setting a random nameserver address. As such while incoming connections to the Emby Server were working ok. Outgoing connections from the server were failing. I think the problem might be something to do with an interaction between Ubuntu Server 22.04 and the Netplan service. Anyone encountering a similar problem when connecting to a VPN might wish to try pinging an outgoing address from the server to check that outgoing connections are working ok.

  40. It could be a nice feature to have recommendations at the end of a movie or the last episode of series like the recommendations on Netflix. A popup shows up at the end of a movie or an episode which shows you similar contend to watch. You have the option to choose one of the recommendations or watch the credits to the end.

  42. Hi. Please see the article below and let us know if it answers your questions: Is there a limit to Emby Premiere
    1 point
  43. Don't purchase Emby Premiere from anyone other than Emby There are some unscrupulous individuals out there selling Emby Premiere keys through Ebay or other such marketplaces in other countries. ALL of these are a scam and you will eventually lose whatever money you pay them and not have a working key. The only way to purchase Emby Premiere is directly through our web site or through one of our official apps (Android or Apple). Please help us stop these people by reporting any listings you see by sending a direct message to "ebr" and don't get taken by one of them. Thanks! View the full article

  44. You're right, most attacks do happen on 22 along with 80 and 443 (and 3389 too). But attacks on 22 are limited to dictionary and brute force. To my knowledge, there are no exploits for 22 and if there were, they get patched almost immediately (citation needed!). My ssh server will not accept a password, only a key. For most attackers, this means the port closes as soon as they open it. If you're super-paranoid, you can further secure ssh by limiting which inbound ip addresses can connect or by moving it to another port (personally, I don't think this does anything because a port scanner will identify it in seconds). But at a minimum, enforce keys only with no passwords. 80 and 443, on the other hand, have been exploited continually by attacking weakness in the underlying software. I remember when you couldn't put a Windows IIS server directly on the internet because it would be exploited in hours -- sometimes minutes. The attackers would exploit code problems (buffer/memory overflows) that would give them access to the server (and back in day, server sometimes ran with more privileges than it needed). So, my concern is that by exposing the emby web server, you expose any potential code weaknesses. Back to the original topic, if my choices are expose 8290 and/or 8096 (emby web server) with whatever code weaknesses may exist versus exposing 22 with key security and tunneling traffic, I'll roll the dice with ssh any day. And MFA, while awesome for protecting data, is not useful for protecting against underlying weaknesses/exploits.

  45. Yes. The only inbound port open to my home network is tcp/22 (pfsense firewall). My home server endpoint is not technically fixed (though it does tend to stay at the same address for months to years before changing) so I check it every 10 minutes and update accordingly using the godaddy API only when it changes. I posted a how-to for that piece on Instructables a few years ago, https://www.instructables.com/Quick-and-Dirty-Dynamic-DNS-Using-GoDaddy/. My concern is less of traffic hijacking or snooping and more of exploits targeted at the emby web server itself. Admittedly, I don't know if emby (linux) leverages an existing http/s server or if the guys rolled their own. Either way, however, I'm highly comfortable exposing openssh to the world if it is secured with ssh keys (absolutely no passwords!!) because it is tested every single day by millions of servers all over the world. The fact that my traffic is encrypted is just a bonus. I'll put together a quick guide and post. I even made an emby listener that will respond to emby request broadcasts (iPhone app, et al.) to save the user the trouble of having to know/type the ip address of the local endpoint. Some of this is still in development, but the concept works and has been rock solid for roku. Also included a reverse tunnel so I can maintain the satellite when needed without having to config the remote router to allow inbound ssh -- makes for super secure maintenance. To bring this back around to the original post, MFA is really targeted at securing the data from weak passwords, not protecting against exploits. IMHO, exploits are a much MUCH bigger threat than someone guessing a password and using an otherwise legitimate channel to grab my content.

  46. @@pünktchen Is an implementation of parental control as a channel criteria planned, e.g. for a animation channel, but max. FSK-6. Also the integration of playlists and Collections would be really cool to have theme channels like Sky does. Also I got errors on some channels, that the particular stream is not available at the moment. All my affected movies contain the video stream and one audio stream + an external subtitle (srt). Seems ffmpeg is concerned about the external sub, because every movie without it, no matter what resolution, plays without problems. Stream map '0:2' matches no streams. To ignore this, add a trailing '?' to the map.Full ffmpeg logs attached. @@Luke I hope you guys take a little care of pünktchens mentions, since this is the by far coolest 3rd party plugin so far. 47. I've just had the same problem on my Nimbustor 4. To resolve, please follow these steps in the NAS ADM UI: - Stop the Emby application *** Ensure the user home folders are visible: - Launch Access Control - Go to Shared Folders - Select User Homes - Click Edit - Ensure "Disable file access to this shared folder" is not enabled (i.e. unchecked) - Click OK *** Create the emby user folder - Launch File Explorer - Go to User Homes - Create "emby" folder - Start the Emby application Emby should now launch. Hope that helps.

  48. Tags would actually work very well, but emby would need comprehensive album & track metadata (composer, conductor, players, yr recorded, yr released etc etc) for it to work. Its completely possible (with musicbrainz). I know they're small groups, but emby would have classical and jazz lovers interested because music players with extensive tagging are few and far between.
