Yes, if that is the best way to get traction on this request. I've tried the collection solution. I'm not a fan of it. It makes collections messy. Personally I see collections as a group of similar but different movies (Star Wars collection, MCU Collection, etc). I estimate I have at least 100 movies with multiple cuts, that would make my collections be very large. Relating to that, I would want the "cut collections" to appear as a single item in my library, but not the "real collections". Finally, there is the issue of a "cut collection" needing to be within a "real collection". I realize you are just giving a temporary solution, I just wanted to bring to light some issues with that method. Overall you are correct, I am asking for a better way to handle multiple cuts.3 points

Technically 4.6.7.0 is old now as 4.7.2.0 is the current release. Can you install that version to see if you run in to the same or different issues?2 points

A good software developer is not necessarily someone who knows a lot (about a specific area of development). Such knowledge allows allows you to work faster and more efficiently on a certain subject, but it's not that much important. Of course, general experience in sw development plays an important role and allows you to write code of higher quality and with low bug rates. That part can only be gained over time, and only when you pay attention to it. It's a matter of character I think: like people moving to a foreign country and having to learn a different language: some are permanently improving and after few years it's impossible to even notice that one isn't a native speaker. And there are others who stop learning after a minimum is achieved and keep making the same grammatical mistakes for the rest of their life, even though they've heard a zillion times how it would be right. First of all, software development is about learning. Being able to learn quickly, being flexible to adopt gained knowledge, make correct deductions and valid abstractions of problems and - not to forget - constant self-reflection are key factors. Unlike most other professions, there is no point where you have learned "it" and you just keep doing your work. In that case, you might be a coder, programmer, or sw engineer, but should you ever come to that point, your career as a developer would have ended (or never existed). So, learning is the key, "not knowing" is not a reason for embarrassment (while "knowing" but not acting accordingly is). When you have questions regarding plugin development, you can always PM me! softworkz2 points

Hi, This has been talked about a lot on the Apple TV forums, but there is no formal request for it. So I do it here, please add support for MKV HEVC HDR playback using Apple TV (without tone mapping). I don't care what technique you use. Either adding HLS fPM4 support to the server or improving the MPV player. I anticipate that I am not satisfied with you saying that Apple TV does not support that, since most players on the market support it. Thanks1 point

Hi, I created a python script that will look for all watched content for a specific user. If the last played date is past the cut off date it will delete the file. I built this for myself and it works good enough for me, but I have only tested it on my system (ubuntu 18.04) with my server. So no guarantee it will work for everyone, and since it can delete files have a backup to be safe. By default it does not delete files until you modify the config file to be safer. It first lists all the files, then will list the files that will be deleted. On first run it will ask you some questions to generate the config file, or you can create it manually Here is the script if anyone else is interested in trying it out: https://github.com/clara-j/media_cleaner1 point

We developing a dashboard (web) to watch movies or series together. Our proof of concept was successful and works as we wanted. Proof of concept: We have tested the proof of concept and are now continuing to expand the platform, which is of course linked to Emby. Tested functionality and implemented; Connect users with external dashboard (connect uid's) Link devices to user Make groups / invite other users Sync video with each other or group Resync in group Groupchat Possible ideas Discord connection (chat, sync, profile pictures) Discord auto voicechannel (only users who are in the group) Share this dashboard with the community Dashboard: Join room (select device): Active group session with chat: Will be updated!1 point

I'm posting here to gauge interest in this potential tool/utility - I use it for my parents and it works really well - but to be useful for the masses, it will need some more time spent on developing the code to make it more universal. However, before doing that, I wanted to see if this is useful as I don't want to waste my time.. What does it do ? It creates a 'Recommendations' library for each user based on items added to a Recommendations playlist. This library is then displayed in the usual 'Latest' list. As items are watched, they disappear off the list. Example (Actual) screen grab - (note 'Recommendations Row') How does it work ? A new library is setup and each user plus a global entry is given their own folder :- In these folders will be links (STRM files) to the real media. These are automatically created on a schedule via a standard playlist file (see below). Individual user based permissions can be applied to these folders - therefore, personalised recommendation lists can be created or globally set if added to the global recommendation playlist. So for this user - they will just see Recommendations for Rich and Global. The Recommendations 'library' needs to go to the top of the list for it to be easily visible :- Note - if there is nothing in the Recommendation library for that user (ie it is empty) - then the Row will not be shown. How do I flag an item as a Recommendation and to whom ? The script pulls the recommendation file locations from the XML playlist - thus you can just use the normal emby playlist functions to add or remove recommendations and add them to the relevant playlist. Anybody can add any entry to any playlist (as playlists are not permissioned), so be wary of that.. If you want everybody to see the Recommendation - then just add it to the Global Recommendation playlist. How often does it update ? Currently my script just runs every night and automatically creates any new entries added to the playlists. Now the initial library and playlist setup is done, this is now fully automated for me - I just add recommendations to the playlist and the following day it appears on those users screens. ... Of course, if emby allowed a playlist to have permissions and allowed it to be shown on the main screen in a row, then there would be no need for these scripts to hack a 'virtual' library... Any thoughts ? Is this worth progressing to make the initial setup more automated ?1 point

I have just upgraded Emby for Samsung 1.2.8 to 1.2.9 and the option to use a theme other than Dark or Black is no longer there. When I downgrade to 1.2.8 the option is back. Samsung model number: UE43KU6510 Samsung firmware version: 1250 Samsung Emby client version: 1.2.9 Emby server version: 4.7.2.01 point

Right... directed at OP as suggestion to do what he's asking as new feature is already there with the favorites tab. New feature not required/necessary in my opinion. It already exists.1 point

You didn't read far enough down in the article you used to set up the router... Paul1 point

I have no idea right now, but as JS it’s pure…. know decide for desktop app port to electron.. it works well. for app on mobile you can investigate react and react native Or hard code for each environment. Unfortunately this is my dilemma for iridium, but this is the perfect app to make that choice, small simple and useful1 point

You can test it at home using a phone with the wifi turned off - cellular data is external to your network. You don't even have to install a client - you can use a browser. Paul1 point

Thanks! I followed the instructions and it appears that the initial server and router settings suggested in the article are already enabled by default. According to the article I should be able to access remote now, without having to move on to the more complicated settings that appear later in the article. I guess next time I travel, I will put it to the test! Thanks again!1 point

The web-app currently uses Roboto font throughout, and I've experienced that on smaller size — such as descriptions etc — it is a little hard to read. So, could the Web app UI font be changed to 'Inter' as I noticed that the forum also uses it, or the could you please provide an option to the user to change it as per their personal preference.1 point

I did this if(urlInput.substring(0,4) != "http"){ url = "http://" + urlInput.value; } else { url = urlInput.value; }1 point

Oh, I expected that users would add the http to the input. I'll add some code to handle that.1 point

@Luke, it looks like requestAnimationFrame() is never being called to update the value for the slider on the older models.1 point

Same request but at series level. I think maybe both levels could be good.1 point

NP....did not take offense...thought it actually funny the way you put it.1 point

Yes, there are some changes going on with themes. Older models do have some limitations. Luke will need to describe in more detail, but I can confirm I'm also only seeing Dark and Black themes on my 2017 model.1 point

My 2017 model doen't have the issue on 1.2.7 or 1.2.8 but on my 2016 the dot isn't blinking or moving.1 point

If the correct 'named' chapters do not exist in emby, then this has nothing to do with the Plugin - please raise in the main forum. You can try a metadata refresh (then see if the chapters are named properly) - if they are - THEN re-run the Chapters task in the plugin - and assuming an Intro Chapter was identified - then you should just see a 'Title Sequence' chapter being inserted inbetween two of the above named chapters. To note - if the End Credits were also detected @ 22:19 - then if you have that option selected in the Plugin - then it will also insert a 'End Credit' chapter at this point - ie you may unfortunately have two listed. @Cheesegeezer - Anything to add here ?1 point

Thanks mate - already sorted we unfortunately don’t have a beta release with that code ready for here yet as there is a fair bit of rework going on at the moment and I’m not sure we are ready for public beta again yet. For now this version will only function with 4.7 but when 4.8 is the stable release we would hope to have a new release ready1 point

You need to setup your server for remote access, have a read here: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44002137137-remote-setup1 point

Okay here you go. /* Add to blank home page online image Gollum - remember to untick Enable Backdrops in Display */ [data-type="home"] div.focuscontainer-down {background-image: url("https://static0.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Gollum.jpg");} [data-type="home"] div.focuscontainer-down {background-size: cover;} Technically you can use any of the original classes "scrollFrameY flex flex-grow focuscontainer-down emby-scroller scrollY overflowYScroll" as home is targeted.1 point

Although I think Emby Connect could/should be better. But why use it at all? As my 82y/o dad hates to give any third party, any info, but trusts me(sort of). Note: I'm rather new to this so tell me I'm an Idiot if I'm wrong... I tried this and it worked fine. Add a user Send them an email/text/facebook etc. that tells how to connect without signing up to a third party (Emby Connect) The Email should tell them how to download the client they need (or just use a web browser (i don't really like this option)). Then do a "manual login" (or what ever it is) with the ip you give them from your Dashboard and what ever port(secure?) you have assigned/allowed along with the username and password (allow to change) . Say what server to connect to and done... . ...contact me if you have problems. I don't think this would violate any license or otherwise @Luke?1 point

Thanks fella, and we all on the same side here, seriously we are!! my code might look a piece of novice crap to you guys, but i try to fill a gap where i can. understand also I’m about challenges, i managed to keep pilots in the air for 12 years as a helicopter engineer with a release to fly signature, i fixed trains for Siemens in London and fluid dynamics for Formula 1 teams and also Moto GP all over the globe! yeah… planes trains and automobiles lol Now in the oil gas and renewables for well over 16 yrs and have written papers on new technologies accepted by the American petroleum institute. coding is a hobby and another challenge and at a tender age of 45 i love it.1 point

A few years ago I found Emby, and I began encoding my thousands of DVDs and Blue-Ray into a personal family library that we could all share, wherever we were in the world, whenever we wanted. I started with a few quirks and questions, but eventually I got it setup smoothly on a headless linux server, with a domain name of its own, for easy access, and a premium license. Today, I finished encoding the last disc in my library. ~12TB of movies and shows. I've received high praise from my inlaws because how safe they know the ratings and categories I've set up are for their kids. It has been a marvellous success, and worth the time and money to do. What with all the 'corporate' services now pushing to groom and abuse children. Thank you Emby Team. You have my thanks for making such a wonderful piece of software. Keep up the good work. Don't go the political route. Stay concerned with the user and experience.1 point

OK so this is a good example that we can use to improve. The xml guide data contains multiple display names for each channel. We can add support for that and that should handle this particular case. Thanks.1 point

I have lazy users and none of them have created emby connect accounts, I just gave them the password, domain and the user is their name. I was going to use it with a user who is bad with technology, Emby connect was simple for this specific situation. No biggie to me.1 point
