  1. Ok, thanks for checking. Hmm, then this may be another case of the Item not being consistently populated with its full metadata when it's handed off to my IImageEnhancer implementation in some contexts. I already have a workaround in place to re-fetch the Item from the library manager when I need to test an Item's extras or tags because those aren't always present. It looks like some of the new rules I added may need to be added to this workaround. If that's the case sorry for bothering everybody, and I'll get it fixed.

  5. POSTERS "Posters" is in an Alpha stage of development. (was excited to share with the community, but there will be some fun things to fix) It is an application written in Javascript which will connect to Emby and display the a poster for the media item currently playing on a device. This app is hosted in the web browser. It can be run on Raspberry Pi, stuck to the back of an old computer monitor, mounted on the Wall. It can be opened in Chrome using 'Kiosk' mode, and the display set to portrait. More Raspi integration terminal commands to come. (Anyone with Raspi knowledge? It's time to shine!) It uses https://animate.style/ animations, so there is, literally, an bunch of possibilities in layout, and animations to make the posters app unique to each users tastes... More to come. How to use: Unzip the folder to the desktop (anywhere) Right click "index.html" Open in your favorite browser Discover your server Login Start to play a movie on one of your emby ready devices Watch the posters come alive TODO: A Landscape view Configuration options Terminal Commands for Raspberry Pi (kiosk browser, start in portrait, load html on start) Fix multiple streams cause images to reload. Maybe this is a good thing, we just have to slow it down. Take advantage of all the different animations available in animatecss libraries November 3 1. Added full screen capabilities, 2. landscape mode, 3. hidden fly-out nav for future options. November 2 1. First Upload DOWNLOAD: PosterApp_v0.22.zip

  6. Hi For the moment I want Emby to skip (exclude ?) composer/writer etc tags when scanning music tracks. Maybe something on the library settings screen. A checkbox Include Composers My objective is not to create any new composer credits. Why you may ask? Short answer is major negative impact of including (treating?) them the same as an Artist. Long answer will be in a seperate FR. Thanks, -vicpa

  7. Looking at the install that I have that still fails it would appear these issues are unrelated as those fields are correct and still fails these filters. But since rebuilding databases on other portables, it is DB related but a matter of figuring out exactly what.

  18. Hey Luke. Not in the play cue but when browsing your library for instance. If you are on a page for say Bad Boys and you want to go to Bad Boys 2 you have to back out to the library page. In this case if there was a next button you would just click it and you would be brought to the next movie in your library which is Bad Boys 2 and so on.

  19. Reviving this for a bit. Is there a way to override the current behavior and force apps to re-use the bandwidth test (from a server side setting?). I'm trying to force as much direct play as possible and even with video transcoding off and video and audio codecs supported by the device the transcoding occurs due to most clients using Auto as their remote setting. My idea was to try and force auto quality to direct play based on returning a 0 byte response to the bandwidth test using a cloudflare worker but that's clearly not going to work if apps don't use that anymore. Any alternatives? I think at the very least we should have a mechanism to override user playback settings and set them to maximum server side. Thanks for fixing this by the way: Caching works perfectly now EDIT: So two observations... 1. Looks like there might be a bug on the Android app as I consistently only see 7 Mbps MaxBitrate when the device is set to Auto. There isn't even a 7 Mbps option in the UI so it's unclear why the app is choosing this as the quality. $ grep 'max bitrate' /opt/emby/logs/embyserver.txt | awk '{print $NF}' | sort | uniq -c | sort -nr 1080 7000000 2. Looks like a workaround to #1 to force max quality is to rewrite the MaxStreamingBitrate query parameter sent by the app when it's present in requests although I need to test this a bit further.

  22. Ok, got it. Thanks for responding @ebr. It seems there's been progress in the other thread though. Aren't they related? I'm not getting any response from Luke in that thread though so I'm not sure he's looked for a connection yet. Regardless.... I'll hold tight.

  27. Thanks for trying the firmware update. It's good to see that Samsung are still releasing these for your model, so with some hope they may fix this issue one day. I've made a change to do the audio track switching on the server for 2021 models, and it also implements another method to try and overcome some other issues with 4K/HEVC content when we do this. It may help, or it may cause a whole bunch of new issues. Luke will create another USB installation so that you can test this before we release it, so hopefully you can try that in the next few days.

  29. From database only setup, yes the users has to manually update the database for the moved media. If not it will be removed as it no longer exists in old location, then readded from new location causing complete lookup for metadata and images. So to keep the existing identified media, Path needs updating

  30. You're welcome I agree, far from an ideal solution (i personally always run latest and this is the first time i now haven't) but it's a useful bandaid to have the emby library useful again!

  31. This is showing Local Users in the drop down box. And per the linked topic/Tutorial you need to look at System Internal User. But the username should be factor also. But this is a documented change in DSM 7.

  32. Excellent @ebr, I was just getting ready to open another ticket due to lack of dev involvement in this thread. @Spaceboy For me the issue is 100% reproducible but not immediately evident. I have not done extensive testing but certainly see it when viewing cable TV with my HD Homerun Prime. The delay is not noticeable at first but increases over time. After ~5 minutes it is terrible and distraction. I have not tried other video sources because I just did not have the time.

  34. Time stamps, interleaving, packet writing/partitioning/layout, packet level information, side data handling, mux offsets, out-of-stream information, bitstream format support, stream information, seekability, indexing, stream type/codec support, quality and completeness of codec support, codec extradata handling, frame extradata handling, indication, indexing, ... Those were just the very first things that I could name quickly, so it's far from complete. "Media container" is actually not a very good term, because these are not really just a kind of "container". That's why I made the comparison to "zip files", in which you combine a number of "stream files" together, while the "stream files" would always be the same, just in a different container. It's not as simple as that. The only reason why it sometimes appears to be like that, is that many people have worked hard and put a lot for effort into making it look like it was as easy as that. But container conversions and re-muxings are never perfect 1:1 representations of the original. In rare cases it can bring an improvement (e.g. old AVI files with broken or missing index entries, where seeking to the end takes endlessly long) In the majority of cases it works out okay when you use the right tools and know how to use them in the right way (many don't unfortunately) Then there are those cases where it doesn't turn out well not a huge percentage but also not rare In a majority of those cases it's clear to users that it was their own fault because it's obvious (e.g. no playing or with noticeable issues) Then there are cases where after some comparison with other files or players, it becomes evident that it's an issue with the file (either from a user's own investigation, or from the initial stages of Emby support) But the remaining cases at this point - are those that make me suffer... Why? Because in most cases, you can't easily know whether it's a technical issue in the software - or just an incorrectly authored file. The effort for finding out is often the same, and it's frustrating to find out that it was for nothing. That's why I ask you to be careful, avoid conversions unless really necessary and don't encourage others to do so. It is Emby's very job to handle all of your media files, no matter which format or origin in the best possible way for all kinds of playback or other target situations. But we can be doing well in this discipline only, when we can rely on files being professionally authored (ideally) or at least by some who know what they are doing and how to do it, and (better only) for a solid reason. So, to be honest: converting DV files to MKV for the reason that MKV provides a few more metadata fields is a pretty bad idea! DV is not even officially supported in MKV, but even when it was: what you get is never an exact equivalent to the original file. Whether those converted files will work in Emby for all DV profiles, I can't promise. I also can't promise whether Emby will correctly detect them as DV with the correct profile. Please avoid going crazy for file conversions. Thanks sw (this is a general statement for all current and future readers, not targeting anyone in this conversation directly )

  40. But if you do that, you have to start from base zero in identifying all the contents, etc etc, surely? I have done that before, and that is what happened. The point is to retain all the "customisation".

  41. No, I think we just may not be showing music videos on that screen. We'll have to add it. Thanks.

  42. If you move your media at any point, the NFO file moves with it. Otherwise you have to rescan because Emby won't shift the internally-stored metadata. Changing that setting also won't create NFOs for any existing media, it only affects new media. So it's worth doing sooner rather than later if you want to go that route. Can make bulk editing a bit easier as well, as you can just find-and-replace rather than having to manually edit each item. Turning those fetchers off will only affect newly-added media, it won't affect existing media.

  44. One issue is TVDB is currently completely broke and devs are waiting on a response from them per the "TooManyRequests" topic. Looks like you primarily got Posters from FanArt but not sure on the missing ones. What is your Image provider order?

  45. Yes, unfortunately the Emby team is not that big. Nevertheless, they are doing a very good job, especially with the new Intro Skip Plugin, which took a long time and is a great update. I think Emby is much better than Plex in many ways, but there are a few points where Plex is clearly ahead. At the same time as Emby, I also maintain a Plex database, simply because Watch2Gether with Emby is not that great. I would like to only work completely with Emby, but this feature is really essential for it. I would also like to program the whole thing myself if I could, but unfortunately I haven't started programming yet. Well, we have to hope that the Emby team will come around and see these requests as relevant.
