Yes, I have the exact same problem, I cannot watch movies together with my very real girlfriend. To be blunt me and my very non-imaginary girlfriend have grown more apart because of this missing feature.

Just moved to emby from jellyfin, I really love the syncplay feature of jellyfin which makes me able to watch movies with my girlfriend, however jellyfin was a little bit buggy and didn't respond very fast sometimes. I'm mostly satisfied with emby currently while it's disappointing there is no such kind of feature for me to watch medias together with my girlfriend. Currently I'm on subscription, I will definitely buy lifetime premium if emby has anything like syncplay/multicast/watch together feature.

Yes, unfortunately the Emby team is not that big. Nevertheless, they are doing a very good job, especially with the new Intro Skip Plugin, which took a long time and is a great update. I think Emby is much better than Plex in many ways, but there are a few points where Plex is clearly ahead. At the same time as Emby, I also maintain a Plex database, simply because Watch2Gether with Emby is not that great. I would like to only work completely with Emby, but this feature is really essential for it. I would also like to program the whole thing myself if I could, but unfortunately I haven't started programming yet. Well, we have to hope that the Emby team will come around and see these requests as relevant.

I feel like unloading a little and I'm not sure where better to do it... so I'll just drop this here. A while back I was toiling for a while over Plex vs Emby, to the point where I ultimately just kept both running on my NAS and maintained both. As time went on, thanks to a slightly better performing Android mobile app for music casting and some convenient tools like Tautulli, I ended up going all in on Plex and just kept Emby running as a plan B if Plex ever went too far over to the dark side or shit the bed. I invited my parents and my brother to my share and everything was going well enough. Randomly a week or two ago my Mom calls me saying one of the shows keeps randomly buffering every couple of minutes on Plex. I tried everything (over the phone, what a pain in the ass) to get it working smoothly for her, ie. assuming it was her internet I lowered the quality and forced transcoding but that led to other issues... knowing that there was no way I was actually going to get support from the Plex team, I eventually just had her try Emby since its library was mostly up to date and she hasn't had a single issue since. Even in my own experience, Emby has been virtually rock solid when it comes to video playback. This weekend I went over to my parents house and got their other devices switched over, I went over to my brothers house and got his devices switched over, and I've officially disabled (pending deletion) my Plex share for the first time since I started using it back in 2020. This experience, and the steps Plex has made recently drifting more into the "streaming hub" space and further away from the "personal media" space, made it an easy decision for me to give Emby back the throne for the time being. I don't have any advice, just wanted to share that story as a former Plex user.

I am closely following this development. I know who as figured out the algorithms for this (in December 2021) and the first available implementation was for Vulkan. Though, I didn't want to go into that direction because it would have added once another complication to our transcoding pipelines (i.e. something that may work or fail..). Now, it seems JF have ported the Vulkan implementation to CUDA and OpenCL. It's a nice achievement, but it has limitations, which means that it works in certain scenarios only, requiring certain decoders and there's no software implementation. For our side, it's important to provide a consistent experience rather than "islandic solutions", which means that differences between sw and various hw transcodings should be as minimal as possible. What's pending on the roadmap with regards to tone mapping is being able to apply dynamic (scene-specific) HDR parameters (like HDR10+) and probably we'll look into handling those profiles as well, once we get to it.

I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. I am switching over from a Win7 box running MBC to Chromecast dongles. With the Win7 box I had a HDMI to Cat6 setup that allowed me to stream to up to 4 displays/TVs simultaneously. It was great while it lasted, but involved stapling cables to the ceiling to run it from room to room - plus it has borked Can there be an option to multi-cast to several receivers at once? i.e. simultaneously play to Chromecast dongles in my office and living room and kitchen simultaneously so i can walk from room to room without stopping and restarting the movie or show all the time? I realize that bandwidth could POTENTIALLY be an issue, but i have a fill gigabit network and a multi-port NAS so that really is the least of my worries... Thank you!

As I mention in a related post, I love the additional subfolders for Movie Extras (eg, Shorts, Scenes, Interviews, etc.)! It would be awesome to extend this functionality to TV Series as well. Specifically to add support for many/all of the same folders supported for Movie Extras, eg, extras specials shorts scenes featurettes behind the scenes deleted scenes interviews trailers As well as any additional folders that get added in the future (eg, hopefully Galleries). Support Placement of "Extras" Folders Within Each Season Folder, Plus A Naming Scheme to Link A Particular Extras Folder with a Specific Episode (eg, "\Season 1\E1 - Deleted Scenes\" for episode 1 deleted scenes): I want to clarify that it would be great if these various "extras" folder types could reside within each Season folder. So for example, within a Season 1 folder we could then have an "Extras" folder, a "Deleted Scenes" folder, a "Featurettes" folder, etc. And furthermore, that we could designate a particular folder to refer to a specific episode (eg, "\Season 1\E1 - Deleted Scenes\" for episode 1 deleted scenes). Hi guys, would it be possible to enable sorting for playlists? At the minute when I add something to my 4K playlist it just appears wherever it wants in the list, not alphabetically or by last added etc. Would be nice to have. Cheers guys.

Hey so the whole verbage of "Delete" content when downloaded to a device is scary (and potentially misleading) in that it makes me worry it is also _deleting it from the server_. And I think it would be more effective to instead have "Remove from this device" as the language used. Can we get this verbiage changed at some point please?

From my experience with direct path is i could never get it to work correctly. I recently downgraded both my shields just to try that again and again could not make it work. Went back to 9.0.1. Just day before yesterday out of boredom i downgraded one shield back to 8.2.3. Again, i could not get direct path to work so downgrading is no guarantee that direct path will work again. If i were to use an external player, i’d use kodi. Emby should see that when you try to use its internal player function.

@Happy2PlayMost definitely yes. So far for me it only seems to be impacting metadata for virtual unaired/missing show episodes. Metadata for episodes actually in my library seems to be retrieved without an issue. Posted about it in the other thread (Episode Metadata Fetching Issue - What Am I Missing?). He's referring to the iOS local network permission to grant the Emby app local network access. This is a requirement and the permission prompt is part of the install but you may have inadvertently restricted it. I figured it out! Finally! Well, my problem at least, but in the event it might help some others, I'll leave this here.... I found that my list of "download to" devices was different for all my Emby installations, and was able to put two and two together. I was logging in to the new box using Emby Connect on my iPhone.... and my iPhone was not being listed as a downloadable device on the server. I logged into the server directly on my Android, and it WAS showing up as a downloadable device on the server. So, I thought.. hmm... perhaps because I'm logged in through Emby Connect. Sure enough... I logged out, and logged in manually directly to the server, and whallah... downloads to the iPhone work perfectly now! While I think there's some combination of bugs and/or general UI/account confusion, but have no way to pinpoint... here are my observations: 1) I couldn't download videos to a device while logged in through Emby Connect only, but COULD download music. 2) Logging in directly to server, I COULD download videos to the device. 3) Even when I could not download, but clicked on "Download", it took me to the download screen but did NOT show me the Quality dropdown (or any other options), but the Download button at the bottom of the screen was Active, but just completely unresponsive. In general, the connection between Emby Connect and manual login has always seemed a bit wonky to me... Like... on a particular client I always get hung up on "Where's the Change Server" link? And then I realize i'm directly logged into a particular server, and not Emby Connect. So for me, I think it would be nice if it would show on my Profile screen if I'm logged in directly to the server, or through Emby Connect. As the only way I know this now is if I have a "Change Server" link. (I think) (perhaps I'm doing it wrong). Hope this helps someone!

I checked my server logs after running a scan and I'm seeing 429-too many requests errors from TVDB. I wonder if this is tied to Emby's API key.

The trakt problem is fixed, but it's marking the episode as unwatched in Emby when finished playing.

Yeah that's no good at all. With that location logos will always be restricted in size making some wide text almost unreadable. Can't understand the reason for that change either Never saw anyone complain about logo placement before.

Hi, Were you on DSM 7.X the whole time or did you start on DSM 6.x? What you describe about folders disappearing is lack of permissions to access those locations. You need to fix that. https://support.emby.media/support/search?term=synology Let us know how you make out.

UGH. I am so stupid. I'm sorry. I had to look around to check all my settings and finally found it. I didn't realize it was under the Display settings. It turns out that I had the theme songs enabled but not the video. I apologize, I didn't know about this setting. I thought most of the configuration was done in the plugin. Yes I certainly can port the DvbLink plugin. I just wanted to see that was actually demand for it first given that the underlying software is defunct.

I'm using v4.7.0.60 and I think I had TVMosaic plugin before the change of Live TV plugins. I'm actually running DVBLink server but I can't configure the new TV Mosaic plugin. I get an error that I can't reach the server. Web port is changed to 8100 and streaming port 8101 exactly as it is configured in DVBLink server. Checking the result from the web request when saving settings, I get "Object reference not set to an instance of an object.". I have no login setup for viewing. The current plugin for DVBLink seem to install, but isn't available after restart. I'm guessing it doesn't work anymore?

I don't have an ETA but we are working on an automatic switch to the native player with server transcoding when you press the Pip button. That will allow us to accomplish it seamlessly.

On the movie page there is a favorite button and a watched button. It would be nice if they could at a watch list button. Very convenient. Zero downside
