Hi To be sure all movies are well identified I'm used to name my movies like : a folder ith the movie name : Uncharted - (2022) - [tmdbid=335787] And the files Uncharted - (2022) - [tmdbid=335787] - 4k hevc.mkv Uncharted - (2022) - [tmdbid=335787] - h264 5M.mkv Uncharted - (2022) - [tmdbid=335787] - h264 8M.mkv Uncharted - (2022) - [tmdbid=335787] - vp9 2M.mkv So, when I'm on the interface, I can choose what version I play. The only annoying thing is when I have to move some media from a folder to another (due to space limitations), I'm not able to keep metadata and extracted thumbnails....

You can setup these recordings to use specific channels, set the starting start and end times, you can set the frequency of recordings (one and done or Recurring) as well as specific days of the week. Of course you can personalize the title of the recording(s) as well. You can setup a manual recording easily by clicking the the Create Recording button followed by choosing the Channel and Time option on the popup window. You can then setup the manual recording criteria that will be used. Here you see the custom recording already scheduled to record. Multiple Channel Support for Series Recordings You can now setup a single recording that can be used across specific multiple channels you choose. Emby also has adds new options to allow: Support Negative Recording Padding Values Enter a negative Number in the Start or End Options Max Recording Length for Series Recordings You can now set as a precaution a maximum duration that any recording can have. This shouldn't be needed but is there if you need it should you have a "fringe" reception channel that sometimes causes you grief with recordings. All New Views in Live TV Recordings Tab Emby now supports viewing your recordings just like other Movies or TV Shows libraries. Explore this option on your own and you should feel right at home with it. Server Dashboard Changes The server dashboard has been reorganized a little to make it easy to quickly find information. In the above picture you can quickly see Apollo 13 is Direct Playing the content as well as see additional information about the streams. My Cousin Vinny on the other hand is Transcoding the Video while leaving the Audio untouched, but is sending this to the client using HLS. The little graphics in the Video section following HEVC tell you it's using Hardware Transcoding. You can see the transcoder is Throttling (waiting) as it's producing 53fps which is more than what's needed at the time. The new Now playing also sports new features such as being able to click on the video name (ie Apollo 13) and be taking directly to it's detail page. Same with clicking on the username or device type. It's very cool! Improved Tab Design Used at the Top of Pages Emby now uses an improved design for tabs whenever show on a page. It's much easier to quickly see there are multiple tabs on the page with options and features. It's also much easier to see which tab your currently using. The new tab interface look follows your choice of theme information as well. New Theme Options Emby Server 4.7 gives you more control than ever over the look of your pages by allowing you more control over the theme options. You now have separate theme and accent color options. Want a strong all blue theme? How about and easy to see dark theme with Pick Highlights? You can also use a bit of imagination mixing different Theme, Setting Theme and Accent colors to achieve interesting results not possible previously. Embedded Lyrics Support for Music Files Emby now supports display of musical lyrics you provide. This doesn't require modifying your actual music tracks but is done using a text file residing next to the track! You can quickly and easily use a tool such as MediaHumon Lyrics Finder that makes quick work of adding Lyrics to your existing content. Rescan your music library and have this: This is a great new feature that's easy to implement, uses hardly any storage space (text files) and gives you great results! (first icon bottom left) Audio now playing screen The above picture shows one view of our new audio Now Playing Screens. Here's another version of the same screen without the lyrics showing your current queue: This view uses the middle button at the bottom between Lyrics and the cog/settings icon. Clicking the last icon (cog/settings) brings up a mini menu allowing you to change playback speed, Stats for Nerds or the ability to save your current queue as a playlist. Without any of the options selected you can have a simpler viewer centered on the page like this: You can get to these screens clicking the far right icon on the audio playback toolbar at the bottom of the screen. This new audio toolbar put everything you need right at your fingertips. See the artist, album and song. Change volume, set repeat mode, pause, stop, change tracks or switch views as shown above. The toolbar stays at the bottom of the screen for music while allowing you to explore other parts of the system. Very Nice! Audio Book Continue Listening Emby supports continue listening to Audio Books. The above screen shot shows the docked toolbar at the bottom of the screen while the top portion show a new option being set to display on the home screen to be able to quickly access and continue listening to audio files. New On Screen Display (OSD) Features Some of the new 4.7 OSD features have been shown recently in a couple Emby client blog posts using a preview release of 4.7. Some of the functionality of visual timelines and thumbnail graphics have been available in some form the past but now are fully unified in a cohesive manner that's very easy to use from a keyboard, mouse or remote. It's very slick, adds new navigational functionality as well as additional information you had to quick playing in the past to access. You can see how much thought and care went into this design allowing it to work effortlessly across the different cleints. Visual Timeline Showing Overlayed Chapter Information Done Through Keyboard Navigation Info - Bottom-Left Menu Option This will bring up information about the movies, show episode or TV channel you happen to be watching. Chapters Menu This shows the next menu option displaying a list of embedded chapters including the Chapter name, the timeline it starts as well as of thumbnail from the start of the scene. Cast & Crews How often have you watched something and wanted to know the actor or actresses name playing a part? Previously you had to exit playback to look this information up but now it's right here always available a click or two away. What a non-intrusive time saver this option is! On Now You can quickly and easily see what's on TV using the two new views added to the OSD. The On Now view above uses the programs graphics if available (Emby Guide supports this) to show what's currently on each channel in your lineup. You can easily scroll the list sideways to get a good look at everything currently being broadcast. The Guide showed below allows you to quickly see what's on a currently as well as what's coming on later. It's not limited to what's shown but allows scrolling up and down channels as well as the timeline so you can see what's coming on 12 hours from now. It's a fully functional Mini-Guide built right into the OSD. All of the OSD functions shown above work right over top the currently playing media allowing you access to a lot of new information with the least amount of disruption possible. Previously you probably got gripes and complaints from family members if you exited the media playback to get a look at the cast list to see the name of the actor. Now instead of having to wait to the end of the movie to see the cast list or catching wrath from the family, you can quickly view this information in a non-disruptive manner. Having all this new information as well as new tools for easier navigation right at your fingertips during playback shows how much thought and design went into this new version. Emby sets the bar high for OSD functionality that others can't compare to. More To Come! We're excited to share how awesome Emby Server 4.7 release is. Since we can now detect end credits, or manually add them in other cases, it would be nice to see this, rather than an automatic percentage/time remaining, trigger the "next episode" popup and decide whether an episode is resumable or not. Even better if it could expand to movies for the latter point.

For clients that can use 3rd party remotes (ie Android TV) I'd like the ability to use a remote of my choosing and be able to map my remote to functions in Emby. We should be able to keymap all important functions such as EPG popup in video, stats for nerds, RW, FF, jump back 10, 30, 60 seconds, jump forward 10, 30, 60 seconds, etc. We should be able to use the number keys to enter 3 or 4 digit channels for TV channel changes. Basically any function available in the UI should have a key mapping associated with it so we can use it with advanced remotes. The remote is our gateway to using Emby and the more functionality we have to customize this for our use the better and easier it is for us to use. Being able to map your own remote is a long standing tradition with many other system and is a long overdue addition needed in Emby. If you agree, don't forget to like this post.

There is a great and well maintained open IPTV resource here: https://iptv-org.github.io Their m3u files contain the guide URL via x-tvg-url. It would be ideal if emby could support this to make setting up this free resource far easier.

I find it would look a lot better when you're on the TV Show detail screen for it to have a gradient blur with the faded image of the fanart in the corner, kind of like plex. Having just the fanart looks way to busy, and I find it hard to enjoy my library with such an ugly screen. I always feel my enjoyment go down when I am on these screens. They don't look tidy and elegant.

The Idea: Collection for Tags Why? It would solve the problem with not having Smart playlists in a smart and new cool way. There are a lot possible tags that fits in same category and with some creativity there are a lot cool dynamic collections possible. And i don't think this would need much work for the emby team to implement as almost everything is in emby already. I will explain on 1 example collection: Collection Superheros - here i add superhero tags like Batman, Spiderman, Iron man, Wonder woman etc. - When i now click on this colleciton i see the list of this tags - when choose for example "batman" i get all movies/shows/etc. that have the tag batman What Collections would be possible? (examples) - Collection: Superheros (tags: Spiderman, Thor, Iron Man, etc.) - Collection: Martial Arts (tags: Kung Fu, Karate, Shaolin, Ninja, Samurai, etc.) - Collection: Wars (tags: Vietnam war, Iraq War, World war 1, World War 2, etc.) - Collection: History (tags: prehistory, Ancient Times, Rome, Ancien greece, Middle age, Vikings, etc.) - Collection Privat Videos (Home Videos) (tags: Grandma, Paul, peter, Mary , whatever ...) - Collection Holydays (tag: Christmas, Helloween, etc.) What would be great to have: - A Mainpage Widget that show this collections (would be great when each collection can have own sort title or number so the admin can decide the order) *most tags listed in my examples are available on TMDB anyway and people have them scraped already

Yes, I'm referring to the features in addition to the intro detection. At the moment Emby offers the button or the automatic skip of the intro. The marker editor is an advantage that will be filled later by emby.

Hi This is a really good idea! Collections, however, refer to existing functionality in emby. To avoid confusion, I have been calling this Tag types or groups. Same thing. In the above example the type or group would be "superheros" and the tags Batman etc. For me I would not want them to show up on the collection view, as they are different things. The regular tag view would be fine.. If it was sorted or aggregated by group. For example.. (Header) SuperHeros: Batman (tag) Wonder woman (tag) This would work for a variety of media type. Movies music etc. and variety of aggregations. @Luke this is what I was suggesting as a way to handle music "Styles". The group/type would be "Style" and then the various tags "Big Band" etc would be sorted/aggregated by group. -vicpa

I am no engeineer but i think this is exactly what i want emby to have too. I use my emby for both videos and photos and i have a massive library of photos (nearly 2 million). Emby is not usable with my library indexed, searching becomes.. yeah you guessed it not possible. Opening the shares that have any of the photo paths setup takes a massive amount of time etc. My guess is that it is the limitations of SQLLite (my database is vacuumed and over 11gb) that gives me this terrible performance while a real dedicated database host would be able to do more complex and smart filter queries making it possible to gain massive amounts of performance for users like me.

I would suggest trying the Emby client on your TV (Android TV or Roku, depending what range your TV is). It gives a much more complete experience than DLNA (which has also been implicated in network problems for some people, which is why it is now disabled by default). Paul

It's available in both Beta and the Release Catalogues. You may have to uninstall the manually installed Plugin (0.0.1.96) + a restart to then install the plugin via the Catalogue.

I think your correct. Tested to connect with my admin account and it established contact. Then I gave my "normal" account admin privileges and it connected without errors to the server and I could start a sync.

I spent it a second though. Are you using an (Emby) Admin account? The only change I made what probably could result in such an issue is. I added an additional API call (queries the library settings/playback resume options). Maybe this call needs Admin privileges. I'll test that but if so, that's a problem.

Log attached, forgot it yesterday. Yesterday I also tried to remove the device from Emby server and also to generate a new device id. That's why I was a bit surprised that I couldn't get it going again. EDIT: On the Emby server the log is filled with Error Server: Access token is invalid or expired. kodi.log

There are also the SEK 3000 and 3500 which support Tizen. They aren't made any more and may be hard to find though and are very expensive. I really wouldn't recommend getting one though. It would be cheaper to buy a nVidia Shield Pro or Firestik and those would support more file types and be supported still by maker. I called Samsung about a problem I had with a SEK on my F8000 and their tech support never heard of an evolution kit

Thanks Luke. I look forward to it. One of the reasons I like to use the TV app as opposed to Emby Theatre is that with the TV app when I turn the TV off the app shuts and the HTPC (server) will go to sleep. With Emby Theatre i need to shut down the app or use the sleep option in the App.

It was easy way to get UI bits for AAR cache, rather than having users dive into more obscure settings. Technically you don’t need it, you can set setting in IIS manually. However, for people less technical in nature, was easier explained with GUI. Realistically I could (and likely will when time allows) build a PowerShell script to build whole thing.

Tried to install the new version and get the "Your access to Emby is restricted". I've done a DB reset, cleared the settings, restarted the server etc but it won't work. Haven't had this happen for a long time

Hi, generally speaking the Emby Samsung app will almost always direct play live tv, and when that happens you won't get any time shifting. But we plan to improve this in future updates. Thanks.

New version available 7.0.1-build 186 delta changelog: fix playback stop for some cases add option using playback resume settings from Emby server (specific to each library) fix 0-9 Letter node for Musicvideos Comment: I added an option using playback resume options from Emby server. default disabled, you can enable it in the sync settings of the plugin's config menu. Actually, this function DISABLES Kodi's internal progress functions and the plugin is fully in charge for progress status updates. This also means, Kodi native content (NOT addon's native mode) will not work. Therefore default disabled. Also this function is not tested for each and every case, but it should already work quite well.

Before anyone asks, I've downloaded 4.7 and am starting work on updated the plug-in. More news soon.
