thanks so much @DarKni8, I promise I won't let it die, Things are just very hectic with work at the moment, we are pushing out a rather large feature for public preview, so don't even wanna see code on the weekends :D, things will die down soon enough and I'll be able to dedicate the time I need to this project, I really enjoy it, and wanna make it super kick ass!2 points

Hi everyone, fixes have been completed. See the post a couple up for fixes and a new dll for you to test. please note I’m working on the codecs currently and should have them working better than ever. thanks for your patience2 points

There are three ways you can get grouped multi-version. 1. Multi-Select and manually group them via three dot menu in header. 2. Automatic grouping per naming convention. Yours is close but is outside the automatic process. https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159102-movie-naming#:~:text=Multi-version movies 3. A community plugin that automatically groups item located anywhere by providerid. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/63643-automatic-version-grouping-for-movies If grouped you will have a version drop down list (but believe it varies across client/apps) Client will pick the one it beleves is most capable of playing but you can change version to the one you want to play.2 points

Hi, Since I am using more and more TMDb, (since tvdb is more and more a mess), I am missing a very important feature. tvdb had the feature of grouping stuff into aired, DVD and absolute, which is supported by emby. TMDb had also this feature. See this example for "La casa de papel" (Money Heist, Haus des Geldes): The Original Order is allways the "aired order" of the original country. "La casa de papel" was originaly released by "Antena 3" and was taken over by Netflix, which results in different episodes ordering, which is a mess. They solved it in episode grouping. This feature is missing from emby, but it's integrated in their API and is allready supported in other apps, like kodi. At least, Banana a TMDb Mod claims it, that it's supported by Kodi: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/71446-la-casa-de-papel/discuss/5e7032d84f9a99001152704f?page=1#5eb76872ca7ec6001f7c53cb Is it possible to add this feature into emby? It is the last scraping feature, I really really miss for TMDb on emby. It adds much flexibility and is overall a much better solution, than on tvdb with their aired, dvd and absolute order. Another great example is Dragonball Super: As you see, it adds much more flexibility for different regions over the world. It's in my own eyes a must have for emby!1 point

I'd imagine this one will probably be a little to tricky to implement any-time soon Heck I'm not even sure if there's a suitable codec available that's opensource/free to use But it would be a really awesome extension to sync if you could transcode into multiple bitrates and then use adaptive streaming between the emby client and the server to pick the highest quality possible at any given moment. I would think this would be especially useful for mobile clients where the network performance can be all over the shop. I thought i'd suggest it on the off chance it was feasible.1 point

Now that MKVMaker is is able to get a playable DV layer when ripping a UHD, It'd be great if we could get an overlay that would indicate either HDR or DV. (would at least be really helpful for me to quickly figure out which movies I need to rerip to get a working DV MKV.) Any chance of this happening in the future?1 point

Okay yes on BETA server with v2.0.20.0 plug I am seeing the same odd results on different shows. Not much we can do until 4.7 goes stable for plugin dev to update plugin. As everything currently works on stable release. But there could have been something in the current beta releases the broke something also. But do not remember what the last version it did not have this issue, maybe .35?1 point
-
I'm having this same issue but for different shows: All of a sudden Curb Your Enthusiasm shows 417 possible episodes but there are only 110. It was fine a few days ago but suddenly changed. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin, no good. I also have Lost in my library but it shows correctly for me, unlike DarWun, so the issue isn't specific to shows.1 point

Quick update: The Emotiva MC-1 processor was the culprit. For some reason it wasn't allowing PCM audio from the Sony X-series TV and it wasn't handling refresh rate switching. Even with a NVIDIA Shield in the middle, I still wasn't able to get automatic audio and refresh rate switching - manual intervention was the only way. As soon as I switched out to my older 5.1 Onkyo, everything worked as expected. Result: I returned the MC-1 within the trial period and bought a Denon. I'm now enjoying 7.2.4 ATMOS through Emby and it's GLORIOUS!!!1 point

You should be proud @ebr, i am proud of emby, that a person who basically is sucker for plex also became fan how emby works. Its a big win. Hope the next release lives upto the expectations.1 point

I am lost here. Collections library is a place to see Collections/Boxsets and then you have to click that collection/boxset to see the movies. So yes it is a two step process. A Movie library will show you all your movies. So from the image you create a collection/boxset called Collections, correct? And this would be why you can't remove your Collection library in your other topic. You can not have any collections or the library will always return.1 point

Before you go remove and added series. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin. If I recall you're on the beta and had to revert to and older version.1 point

hi @CheesegeezerAdded new .dll and restarted emby Placed the Codec path back in (i use tag based items i.e xtreme, banned, snowflake warnings etc but not video audio codecs) same issue as before, it does not play the tag based infocard video and also stops the official cert preroll video playback from starting and instead goes straight to the film Never had an issue with R and NR being mixed up, mine have always played correctly and still do1 point

The disc format needed for seeding files is quite different from the recommended guide lines used for Emby or other media servers. Regardless of the source of the media, best practices used for streaming servers will use common formats that work optimally for clients you support. That could be standardizing on H.264 or H.265 video, making sure a 2 channel AAC or AC3 audio track is present. Removing audio & subtitle tracks that aren't needed or wanted. Adding missing subtitles that are needed for your users. Making sure all codecs and formats used are compatible with client apps your server streams to, etc. There are many tools built into Emby server to convert/manipulate your media for optimal streaming to many different clients as well as lower resource uses when streaming. These tools can rename files, add files as well as change or replace files. Some people use a pipeline outside of Emby to standardize their media before adding it to Emby. In either case the resulting file sets can be quite different than what they started as. Emby should not be bound nor use files as typically found in unpacked seeds as is, since they are often not optimal for streaming. If this is something you or others want to do, that's your business but you should allocate separate storage for these two drastically different purposes so each can be optimized for it's specific purpose. Trying to use shared storage to accommodate both purposes is a poor design choice that can never be optimal for either purpose and put artificial limitations on what you can and can't do causing you to start making compromises in how you handle things since your first priority is what's on disc instead of how your system streams content. Some of the formats used for specific genres typically found in seeds do not follow streaming standards, they use codecs that shouldn't be used with the container they are found in often using bitrates that shouldn't be used. These types of files used as is can cause all kinds of grief for streaming servers as they won't be supported by most clients. If lucky the Emby Server may be able to transcode files on the fly to make them compatible with industry standards and the different devices Emby Supports. These kinds of compromises further box you in, ultimately requiring special handling for processes that otherwise are simple to accomplish. Adding an additional audio track is a perfect example. The correct way to handle this and have files that meet industry standards and be playable by different clients is to add the track directly to the media where it can by properly synced to the video. Trying to find or create an alternate solution for a self created problem that goes against standard practices and not supported by any media standards is self defeating. Separate your storage for each purpose, so never the two shall meet and then optimize each for it's intended purpose. That could mean you need to expand your storage or even double it but comes with the territory. While not a true backup (1 to 1 files) it might help to think about the alternate source of files your version of media backup (that needs reprocessing).1 point

Reducing the playback startup time for "everything" (many many details add up to this) - is of course the way that makes the real difference and as mentioned, there are things we have in the lab already. For the other idea - to be honest - I hadn't thought about this before: Letting an existing video continue playing until the next video is ready to start instantly. It wouldn't be an effective improvement but definitely a subjective improvement, because it would avoid the blackout between stop prev and start next. Though, the problem about this is that the HLS playback implementation and the HTML video element cannot handle two different streams simultaneously (like the currently playing and the next-up video). The stream details will almost always be different and this can't be matched or handled in parallel. The only way this could be done would be by using two player cores and maybe even two HTML video elements (maybe just one, though). The playback implementation is already pretty complex, and handling two player cores would be really challenging - and first of all: error-prone. I still like the idea, though..1 point

In 4.7 TVDB v4 api yes but devs would need to make changes to leverage the existing information. In 4.6.7.0 no as v3 api does not have this info that I know of.1 point

It "might" be the case that what you used before is the precursor of the current Emby, and I most believe this is true. However at the time of MediaBroser coming into existence there was at least one and maybe several other programs of the same name and at least one came into existence before Emby's entry. At about the time that Emby dropped the name, mostly, MediaBrowser was being use by others. That may or may not have had an impact on the decision to change their name but, at the time and from someone that was not on the inside, I really think there was some pressure for a name change. Maybe Emby stands for "Enhanced Media Browser for You" but, unless someone at Emby actually says what it means, or was intended to mean, we may never really know the "Truth." But, even then, Truth is subjective.1 point

I never knew that but I did know that emby was originally MediaBrowser.....probably why I like it so much. I found MediaBrowser probably 15 years ago and was using it as a plugin to Windows Media Center to organize my DVDs.1 point

Compatibility update for the new beta version (v4.7.0.37) can be found in the main post, called "style-EmbyBeta-v4.txt". I've also made it easier if you want to change the default orange color to another color. Find below code and change to the color of your choice. --theme-primary-color: #e5a00d!important; --theme-accent-text-color: #e5a00d!important; --theme-primary-color-lightened: #e5a00d!important; --theme-icon-focus-background: rgb(229 160 13 / 20%)!important;1 point

There might be one: You could try the latest beta version and check whether you'll see some QuickSync entries on the Transcoding configuration page (after you have set the mode to "Advanced"). Then, uncheck all VAAPI ones and check the QuickSync ones retry transcoding! The acceleration capabilities of your CPU are rather limited, so I can't say whether that would work, but it would surely be worth trying.1 point

Feature request: Roadmap/Development transparency In scrolling through the current feature requests, and having put in a few myself, I'm curious: How many upvotes does a feature request need to get before you guys actually start working on it? Is there a certain number of votes per period of time, or how do you decide what actually gets worked on? I ask because I often see a feature request, and the response is generally something along the lines of: If the Emby Team already agrees with the user, the script goes: Emby team - "It's something we'd like to do in the future, thanks." But no timeline is given. A year goes by and it still hasn't been implemented, so the user asks again, and gets a response similar to: Emby team - "We are working as hard as possible to make everyone as happy as we possibly can. Thanks." User gets frustrated, asks for an ETA, response is like: Emby team - "Hi. We have never stated this feature was slated for any particular release. It is planned for the future but not under active development yet." 2.5 years have gone by for this feature request, with almost 30 upvotes, and active development isn't even on the horizon. If the Emby Team disagrees with the user request, the script goes something like: Emby team - "This is why we think the way we are doing things is right, thanks" Users - "Hey, I see what you are saying, but here are 9 reasons I disagree" Emby team - responds to 1 point of the 9 made to tell the user they are wrong, or that that 1 little point isn't relevant, ignores the other 8 points User - gets frustrated, keeps pushing Emby team - "This thread is here to gauge user interest, we will see how many upvotes it gets and may implement it in the future" Years go by, thread gets upvoted, feature never gets implemented. The highest upvoted feature request right now in the top 20 pages of this forum has 63 requests (not even counting how many similar threads may have been locked for being duplicates), and it's not even under active development at this time, despite being created by a developer and being over 2.5 years old. To get ahead of some of the responses I'm sure I'll get, let me just say: -I absolutely appreciate that Emby exists, and I appreciate and respect the time that goes into its creation and development. I know that developing a program takes time. -Yes, I am a premiere subscriber -No, I'm not just trying to complain about this. I am simply asking for realistic responses that actually have usable substance and transparency. Some actual follow through or a roadmap so that users know if their requests are even being considered for active development, rather than waiting for ages only to be told that the item they thought was getting worked on or had a chance at being worked on isn't anywhere on the horizon. -Yes, I do really love Emby, and I want to see it grow and get better, which is why I have chosen to give you guys my money, and why I recommend it to people. Unfortunately, that doesn't negate my frustration with this current process.1 point

Just for some more perspective, in the newest version of proxmox (6.3-6) GID 108, while correctly assigned to the group `render` in Proxmox's Debian hypervisor backend, is associated with a group named `postfix` in the template for Ubuntu 20.10 LXC where I am now running Emby in a Docker container with the iGPU passed through once more. I changed the GID of `postifx` from 108 to something unused (117), after looking at all groups with `less /etc/group', using the following command: groupmod -g 117 postfix Then I changed the GID of `render` to 108, the same as in the Hypervisor: groupmod -g 108 render Finally, I changed group `postifx` to the GID of what `render` was using (107) groupmod -g 107 postfix I hadn't thought to do a `chown` because I figured the way it's all called during container start that it could get reset. I don't know if that is the case or not but figured I would share an alternate method if anyone was interested. Edit: Also, if anyone else is looking to run Emby in a docker container inside an LXC in Proxmox, make sure to add the following to /etc/pve/lxc/<containerid>.conf features: keyctl=1,nesting=1 along with the other two lines mentioned above lxc.cgroup.devices.allow: c 226:128 rwm lxc.mount.entry: /dev/dri/renderD128 dev/dri/renderD128 none bind, optional, create=file I also had to remove apparmor from the LXC template using the instructions here: https://www.simplified.guide/ubuntu/remove-apparmor I used a privileged LXC but with the other fix listed here: https://discuss.linuxcontainers.org/t/working-install-of-docker-ce-in-lxc-unprivileged-container-in-proxmox/3828 I think it could be done in an unprivileged container. Other than that, I just installed Docker-CE inside the LXC as per the official documentation: https://docs.docker.com/engine/install/ubuntu/1 point

I was wondering how feasible it would be to create an additional option (icons to show) under the Indicator Overlays option for MEdiaInfo and to add "HDR Options". I think it would be helpful if i could see at a glance what movies in my library were encoded with HDR capability. THen, i could create a 'badge' overlay that would say HDR on the cover. see attch1 point
