The TV app is back in the store this morning.12 points
-
There is a newer one, it's just marked as pre-release so you need to check the box in visual studio to enable that.2 points
-
Looking at the files it was compiled back in 2019, compiling means (in this case) making a widget from project files, not when f.e. you sideload the widget on your tv. Edit: if they would update the project they need to recompile it again and that would mean that they also have the 30-day security bs.2 points
-
It should be back up any day now and this will all be over.2 points
-
It doesn't really impede development, but there are several beta testers who don't even know how to sideload and refuse to try. This also gives ebr time to work on other projects, like the recent Roku beta. I use both apps and so far this all hasn't stopped me from watching anything.2 points

so much this. the even more annoying thing is that it was done and abandoned1 point

The numbers work in the Guide not the Channel List. During Live TV, the numbers show when clicked and it even pops up the channel, but DPAD centre just flashes the channel icon when I hit it. I can navigate to the OSD guide button on the bottom and change by number there. On Android the channel numbers don't even show in the Channel List like they do on the browser. Like I said it is close. Martin Edit: It actually works with the number without the guide too when there is guide data. There is an issue in 4.7 populating my guide data so I might see it more than others.1 point

That image is from TMDB so a different provider. @Lukeis it possible to add provider to Identify results.1 point

off i toddle lol to give that a go..... god i hope it is jsut that!!!1 point

i tried that also..... 4.7.0.30 is the latest and that didn't help either. for both Server.Core and Common I'll plug at it for a bit longer and then, go to plan B. If anything does pop into your head, would be great to get some professional input. Cheers Luke.1 point

it didn't happen for almost 3 weeks even after many library updates, but then last week it happened again with the same album (West Side Story OST)...don't recall which 7.x version i was using....but at least i can say i haven't had any problems with any of my other compilation albums that have mismatched Artist/AlbumArtist tags now using latest release...will let you know if it happens again1 point

No reason, I'll add landscape but probably some skins could have issues. Anyway, I'm sure people will report if this is the case, but I don't think it will break the artwork.1 point
-
Hi quickmic, can you please add landscape art also to box sets in your next version, like for movies? I changed it by myself, but don't want to do this every time you make an update. Or is there a reason why you don't want that? Thank you "BoxSet": {'Primary': ('poster',), "Art": ('clearart',), "Banner": ('banner',), "Disc": ('discart',), "Logo": ('clearlogo',), "Thumb": ('thumb', 'landscape')}1 point

This is indeed an hybrid remux that includes the Apple TV Dolby Vision metadata converted to P8 and synced: https://tv.apple.com/movie/ad-astra/umc.cmc.49wovq1nj958nx4lzr8sj0o8b?at=1001lwuG&ct=4kdatabase&itscg=30200&itsct=tv_box_link1 point

I have the same problem with LG TV client. The movie starts extremly slow if contains embedded subtitle. It's blank screen with spinnig circle for couple of minutes. I'm sure it happens only with latest 1.0.35 client (maybe with 1.0.33). Subtitle extraction on the fly wasn't a problem before. The movie started fine (doing subtitle extraction in the background) and the subtitle appeared fine after the server finished with the backgound task. Now the only solution is a long waiting or turn off subtitle before play.1 point

Regarding first point all clear now...thank cayars Second point i have already a have Dynamic DNS: DynDns ... http://myname.homepc.it 8096. So to create a user without Emby connect: i create a new user with a "name" and after input a password for this user. At the usere i give my address address http://myname.homepc.it port: 8096 and name user and pass. and all run well Thank for support Hispanico1 point

These claims have been made for quite some time. The problem is complex to fix and I would not expect a short-term solution. As a workaround you could use Infuse, it works very well with Emby and is a great player.1 point

Thanks Another good option. Let's see how it goes. I'll let you know later1 point
-
True. If you have multiple Shields pulling it from a shared folder is probably better than pushing it to multiple Shields1 point
-
And here i thought side loading was THE way to install the betas when it came to Emby…1 point
-
Don't really need to remove it as Complex folder structure works but believe it will only reliably work with 3 level Series structure as 2 level Series structure will/could confuse the parser on true Series level. But believe this is primarily an issue with shows that have numbers in their names as shown in this topic. This structure makes 2022 the series folder and absorbs everything in that folder. (2 level show) TV (library) 2022 (anything you like) 800 Meters 800 Meters-S01E01.mkv But change to 3 level show and Nesting works proper as there is distinct Series structure (Serie-Season-Episode). TV (library) 2022 (anything you like) 800 Meters Season 1 800 Meters-S01E01.mkv But as mentioned I believe we have only seen this issue with media with Numbers in their Names. So I would think a note saying all shows with Numbers in their name requires a 3 level structure.1 point

on the list of todo’s It maybe something we could discuss with them, however we don’t want everyone using our hard work, but the new emby core structure of intros will help with this alot.1 point

We are off topic, but personally I don't think there is a best device for direct play broadcast right now. With the right Emby server that might not matter but there are too many variables in what people watch and how they watch (auto framerate, audio pass through etc). I tend to recommend less sophisticated devices and when its on sale I do like the TiVo myself as a client, but not for their software, since I deTiVo it. The Android 10 update made it a little better and the number keys really help. Shield fanboys might wonder why I don't respond with it, simply because for me the high price, crappy PVR remote and no AC-4 audio aren't a great mix in 2022. More on topic, I just tried Emby on the TiVo 4K and it is way, way more polished then the RPi client (which I also just tried today). I didn't see how to get comskip working but I also didn't spend a lot of time on that. The remote number keys do work on the Android TV, but it seems only in the guide. There is an OSD for changing channels directly but it doesn't seem to do anything except flash a channel icon. So after this brief testing, I will stick with my comments that Emby clients are an important part of NextGen PVR especially when you isolate Emby they really need to be better sooner. Martin1 point

Probably too late for this but...please consider adding an option to side load the time marker data with the media or add to nfo. For people who have more than one emby server, it means scanning media for intros only once. It would also make it much easier to recover from, say, an os drive loss in which the emby data was lost with regards to amount of time needed to recover all features. (I know, I know backups, but it still happens.) I really wish thetvdb would add intro marker time stamps. I know not all media is timed exactly alike so this wouldnt be as accurate but a lot less resource intensive.1 point

It wouldn't be that far away when we would do it in the "normal" way, like it is intended to be done (when live streaming to many clients). That would mean that you simply do transcoding with multiple outputs of different quality. But as @ebr mentioned: this would bind a huge amount of server resources. Assume, you have a 4k file and the client requests 1080 and subtitle burn-in. Now let's say, we want to deliver three qualities for adaptive streaming. We might then transcode to a 720, a 1080 and a 4k output. Given the fact that we have a 4k output, we need to do all video processing in 4k (e.g. tone mapping, subtitle overlay) as the primary output, and the scale down for the lower quality outputs at the end of processing. Normally, when transcoding for just a single output quality, we would doe the scaling to the target size first, and do all processing afterwards only. That means in total, that it's not just the three simultaneous encodings that add to the whole picture - it also means a huge increase in CPU/GPU usage - in most cases, for nothing (you watch transcoded to 1080 while the server is creating 4k and 720 versions that might never get used. The next consideration here would be to possibly generate the alternate quality segments on request only. This would be possible, but there's one caveat: For multiple quality renditions of a certain video, there are some pretty strict uniformity requirements on the outputs. Those are easy to fulfill when using a triple-output transcode, but it quickly gets difficult when you want to create the different outputs separately. The biggest drawback though, is that in many cases, you can't mix it up with the original, so the original file can't be one of the qualities that are offered, because it doesn't fulfill the required criteria of similarities with the others. And that's finally making me doubt, whether HLS renditions is the best method to handle this. The alternative would be to do hard switches, similar as when changing quality, but this would need a tight reduction of the restart delay time first (accidentally we got a few things in the lab for this..). There are a number of HLS improvements that need to come before this, though. Then we'll revisited the subject.1 point

I really miss this capability in WMC and even Uverse.. Pause Live TV on one TV and pick up the stream on another TV. Currently, I hit record then pause and pick up the recording in the other room. Can this be made to work in Emby?1 point
-
Definitely, I don't want to go through their servers but I don't think that is a requirement for this (but also no developer here). Considering all the continues improvements @softworkz (btw. great work there, looking forward to the subs hw acceleration) is doing to HW transcoding this becomes even more interesting implement. Don't know how it works with Plex but on Emby whenever you change the quality it stops, starts a new transcode and after (HW & file dependent) a little bit of time it moves on. With this implemented I would think of Emby handle these changes like Youtube where playback doesn't get stopped when changing resolution. I would like to see this, even if it's optional for the user but I also know this is still far ahead in the future (unfortunately).1 point

Live TV presently plays great through Emby Server beta using Kodi. I have this installed on a couple laptops and it's working great for me. I just got into the Pi scene right before Christmas and now have 6 of them. One has Windows (Arm 64) installed. I can playback Live TV via Chromium on the Pi but most channels require transcoding as the video drivers still need work. If we had a Theater for Arm Windows build, I would try that but still think better video drivers are needed. I have tried Theater for Linux Debian build on Raspbian Pi, Debian Buster, Debian Bullseye, Ubuntu & DietPi in 32 and 64 builds. The 64 bit version IMHO runs a little smoother using less resources with my favorite being 64 bit DietPi OS. I'm running that for container use in ProxMox as well and have my main Emby server presently using it. I've also tested Kodi I believe on the same OSes in both 32 and 64 bit and this too works ok for me. I've not installed LibreElec or OSMC on any Pi so I have no clue how that would work. Just thinking about the changes Luke has/is making can only help these devices IMHO as it allows more consistent streams with the same handling vs the previous variations. All 6 of my Pis are the same model and configured the same. It's the high end 4B with higher clock rate and 8GB memory. Each is in an Armor case with a small NVMe drive. No need for thumb drives or Micro-SDXC memory cards this way. I installed one Pi less than 3 weeks ago in the Yukon Denali I bought my dad the previous week. He hadn't been able to drive for 2 years due to a broken hip and long rehab and this was the vehicle he could get in and out of the most comfortably without risk of falling. He was like a 17 year old with his first vehicle and everything had to be "just right". He didn't care for the OEM wheel design so I ordered new sick looking chrome wheels with tires attached so I didn't have to deal with that. Added custom running boards and a half step under it to assist him getting in and out. He always like murals on truck back windows and had to have a USMC based one so I ordered and install an Iwo Jima mural he really liked. The last thing he wasn't crazy about was the onboard Entertainment center. He kept commenting he wished it was more like our TVs (he was referring to Emby) so I loaded one of the Pi's NVMe up with movies and shows he liked as well as recordings of old time radio broadcasts he liked to listen to. Got the libraries scanned and then installed it in the truck. It could boot and be streaming in under 30 seconds from power on. Instead of trying to connect the Pi to the entertainment center I instead used a Firestick which worked well. He still had all normal functionality but hitting the AUX button switched it to Emby. I even did a mod to allow playback while driving so he could listen to his stories. He was happy and probably kidding when he said the Denali had everything but TV. I thought he was going to say "kitchen sink". After dinner I grabbed a spare HDHomeRun Quatro, small window antenna (best I had on hand), travel router and short ethernet cable. After wiring up a single 12 volt power line to feed everything I took it out and tried it. About 20 minutes later I was downloading guide data off wifi. I was mostly just goofing around and didn't think it would pull in any channels with that antenna but figured I could pickup a normal vehicle TV antenna the next day. It got 6 channels including the 2 channels he wanted for NCAA Basketball and morning shows. He was still a bit uneasy driving but I think worried about our downhill driveway with cement siding the neighbor calls the "tunnel". He would take morning coffee and toast with his walker out and sit in it watching TV. Same with lunch a couple times. He actually drove it I think 6 times before unexpectedly passing a couple days before Easter. Sorry for the long story but almost done. He was appreciate of everything of course but it wasn't the mural, deck, running lights, new wheels, custom license plate, personalized mats or other things but Emby and the spare gear he fell in love with that made it his. I shared that story as I think it shows I've done a lot of experimenting with the Pi and have used it in some unconventional ways as well as many OS and combinations. Short of not having a Windows ARM build for it to test I've really had no issues TV wise. That goes for using it as server or client using Theater or Kodi. This is all recent testing and I've only used the beta server software best I can remember. I don't know if the experience would be different on the release server or with less powerful Pis but all of my Linux setups have worked really well. If there's any particular setup you know to be a problem I could try and test it. I could limit memory and change the clock rate to match other devices as well if needed.1 point

Thanks for the follow-up responses. Running a traceroute on my domain lists a bunch of IPs and addresses associated with my ISP, and even further into the networking infrastructure in my country. So I guess my router does not do the hairpin thing. I can set up custom DNS on my router, and maybe one day I'll finally get a PiHole setup, and then redo the DNS on there. But as others have pointed out, certain devices (like my Chromecast) will ignore whatever DNS server is set by DHCP, and they'll just go and use their own. I primarily use my chromecast to watch media at the moment. So I've reconfigured my Emby App on there to use the server's IP address and port. It's imo the simpler solution, and now at least I'm guaranteed that I don't route all my traffic half way around the planet.1 point

I have removed the three letter naming restriction from an upcoming release of the expanded version. I'm sure there was a reason why that logic was there. Probably because the Library manager was unable to parse a name when it only contained on letter... Which makes sense. Emby has naming condition to consider when attempting to have it understood in the server. The expanded version will tell you both in the logs and in the UI the reason why (exactly) the items couldn't be sorted. Parsing the name of the file being one of them. This is something that the original version didn't do as indepth as the expanded version. I understand the frustration of not being able to identify the issue at hand. I've definitely put a lot of time into simplifying the outcomes of sorting files in the expanded version. My hopes are that we have something to release soon. It is very close to being great! Hope to see you all on the thread when it is released. -Chef1 point

OK I've got these solved, at least for your file name examples. The changes are unlikely to be included in 4.7 as they come with some risk, but some time after that once it's spent a little time on the beta channel.1 point

Since this would affect literally every single Emby user, if implemented - kindly make it optional, as I, for one, do not want it or need it nor I'm willing to accept performance hit on every single movie/episode for such edge case.1 point

Hi guys, I use a docker container called "Duplicati", it backs up all my containers every few days. It may be worth looking into. If something goes pear shaped with a container or data base I can just restore the last backup and go from there. Personally I don't trust the Emby server backup plugin but that's just me I guess.1 point

OK. Yes Enabled, actually on my Apple TV with it enabled and the on screen message is enabled it goes back to the screen for the show where you select resume ,play etc and I cannot get back to the video. I disabled the OSD for Skipping and restarted the same show and it skips at the commercials. not sure why it was not working before, I originally had it set for skip and no OSD, but switched it for testing purposes. I will say it is very nice to have Comskip in Emby. Thanks for the plugin1 point

Can this ever be incorporated? It's been years now and it was shown to be possible in the EmbyTV Beta program and could be incorporated into current updates to the LiveTV transcoding system.1 point

It's been nearly 3 years and we've done a lot of testing with NextGen LiveTV whixh would bring this functionality only to see it fizzle into vaporware. Any hope @Luke @ebr?1 point

the answer to all of these questions is typically, what did WMC do? And it’s on the money again here1 point
-
There are some differences though. First, there's more button presses on the remote required to do this the way it is now. Second, in doing this way I now have a recording that needs to be manually deleted, causing even more button presses. Also, if I don't delete it soon enough it ends up in my MCEBuddy queue and then in my TV Series Library. WMC records the stream into to the pause buffer and allows that to be picked up on another device or screen. Since this is in the pause buffer it never needs to be manually deleted. That's how I think it works anyway. Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk1 point
