  1. I would suggest (at this point) for new users to wait and not use this particular plugin. It was an early test of capabilities. There will most likely be major changes happening in the next little while that makes this plugin obsolete. It has been an amazing community driven project. The next iteration of an intro skip option, will most likely not have anything to do with this particular plugin, and will take the idea to the next level. Thanks to every person who took the time over the years to get things where they are today... Which is going to be amazing!

  3. Yes, Emby caches smaller versions of the source media separately from the sources in your media folders in a cache directory. These cached images are generated as they are requested by callers to the image api and are regenerated periodically.

  4. Removing the CoverArt plugin and disabling DLNA seems to have worked. No more buffering issues. I did not realize the Emby Premier expired, thank you for the assistance. Time to renew Emby Premier.

  5. Following up on this. It was an Eero issue--not an Emby issue, and it's now resolved. I am still not sure why it didn't affect Emby DLNA or Plex but did affect the Emby client, but I actually can't test it now because it's been fixed by a firmware update. Since my last post, I spent about two weeks forcing the playback client wireless connection to the same node wired to the Emby server. This always worked without playback interruption. This was true across multiple devices. I did see some issues with colors going nuts in specific segments of specific mkv files, but I figured I just needed to re-rip them (but see below). I continued to test using separate nodes and it consistently lead to the playback issues. Same color issues, and when Dolby Digital failed, I got the wrong colors in HLS. For clients that did not support Dolby Digital, I got proper HDR direct play playback in terms of colors, but it still froze. I still had the color issues in the specific segments of the same mkv files. A couple weeks ago, Eero pushed down a firmware update, and installing that completely resolved all the issues. Even the mkv files that used to have color errors now playback without problems. Two weeks of playing with it later and still no problems. Doesn't matter what node I'm on. It just works great now. So I think that's that. Thank you again for all your help. I suspect that the old Eero firmware was doing something to the packets en route in a way that was harmless for other apps, or else it was throttling the connection improperly, or dropping bits instead of packets. But I never got around to sniffing packets, and now it works great so there's nothing to sniff. The latest beta release solves all the other issues above (except the new issue that it seems to break showing music by artist, album artist, composer, etc. -- only the home page, albums, and songs work).

  6. Plex is more similar than you might initially think to a Netflix/Hulu service than to Emby. Let me share what I'd consider the fundamental difference between the two as clear as possible: One is ultimately controlled by the admin of the system who makes every choice as to what content will or will not be available to his "clients" and their apps. Absolutely no content is made available in any form that he/she didn't intentionally setup or configure. The other is controlled by Big Brother who allows you the option to add to their service your own content and make it available to other clients of theirs you know. You have some control over the content you provide to their service but ultimately your content may not be shown to others the same way you see it.

  8. Okay, so the only reason we have stayed silent on the details until now is because we think that our users complaining to Google about the issue may only make matters worse. So, please, do not complain directly to Google. Let us deal with this through proper channels. I have had discussions related to both our device limits and certain features that we feel cater directly to only the illegal use of our platform with many users and stated how the store operators have all the power. We can be removed at a whim by any of them. Many of you have argued with me that that is a silly concern. I've also pointed out how the stores don't fully understand what we are and, in many cases, just don't care to. The net of the current situation is that someone was discovered using our platform to distribute content illegally. The owner of the content reported our app as violating their copyright and Google immediately suspended us. No matter that we are not responsible for this nor does our app actually provide any content. With the very vague understanding of these details by the people in charge, the mere hint of anything "off" is enough. We have recourse, supposedly, but they have a rather long time to respond to it. We should be nearing the end of that time and will, hopefully, be re-instated soon. If not, we'll have to see what our next steps are to prove to them that our app is not hosting this content. I'll re-iterate - a bunch of our users complaining will likely just make matters worse so please do not do that. We will let you know when we have any more information. Google has been completely silent for almost two weeks now. Thanks.

  9. I moved from Plex to Emby and even though I think Emby is superior in its flexibility there are some things I like better with Plex, especially in terms of its looks. This theme is trying to fix that by making it a bit more similar to Plex but with some, in my opinion, improvements. The CSS is attached to this post for anyone interested and below are some screens to show it off Good to know I only use Chrome so I can't guarantee this CSS works as expected in other browsers. If you want the sidebar menu to look like in the screens, make sure to pin the sidebar. Watched badge/banderoll is inverted which means that the badge will not be shown if media have been watched, like in Plex. For desired look, please use the "Dark" theme for both Theme & Settings theme in the display settings. Emby-Stable-style-v3.6.txt

  21. version 1.6.2.6 fix - movies alerted " No TV libraries are configured in Emby library setup." when attempting to sort the file. What a silly alert! TODO: stop holding global variables based on data that can be queried in the page. Check the "Root Folder" select-box options count instead of holding the count in the global variable "mediasLocationsCount". fix - sorting existing items into new location caused strange path resolutions. Stripping the root of the path wasn't enough. The path had to be rebuilt. TODO: possible issues when users have folder structures that break Emby's recommendations. Should most likely have a link ready to post that directs them to the "Recommended folder structure" Wiki on Github" lol. That is a rabbit hole that we should think twice about going down. Emby.AutoOrganize_v1.6.2.6.zip It works for me... but, as I have learned... that means nothing.

  22. Happy to report that I performed a manual update to 7.1 this weekend. Everything went fine with the upgrade, so I proceeded to use the instructions here to create a single 500Gb NVMe drive for emby caching. Running with no problems so far. Things are pretty snappy, but the whole process has really exposed a bottleneck with one older HDD in my volume (all of my drives aside from the NVMe are spinning platters). A replacement is on the way which should resolve that issue. I have a second 500Gb NVMe, but I am going to monitor the performance for a few weeks before deciding what to use it for. If emby remains happy with 500Gb after I start generating .bifs, I will set it up as a Synology read cache. If nothing else, that should give me a boost with Synology Photos, which is pretty much the only other media/database app I run outside of emby. Thanks again for all of the great information in this forum.

  23. I'm just in the process of setting up a new Emby Server install on my brothers PC, he has multiple drives with multiple folders, it seems painfully slow to go through and select each folder individually going back and forth adding them, especially when you do what I did and clicked outside the Add Media Library window and lost the lot So could I make a suggestion that if you had a tree view of attached drives, you could expand each level and tick a check box for each drive/folder you wanted to add it would be a lot quicker.

  25. Before you return it, try something. If you select correct playback or fix playback (sorry I don't know what is displayed in English since I have another language selected on my stick) and then you change the speed, you will have a smooth accelerated video. its a pain to do it every time but it works for me. weirdly on my mibox, it works without needing to do that. They both have the last version of the app.

  26. Yes that method would be perfect as you are providing the exact id for the file in question. With providerid provided naming will not matter as the providerid will be used.

  28. From the embyserver log 2022-04-11 23:41:20.327 Info App: MovieDbProvider: Finding id for item: Mercenarios 2022-04-11 23:41:20.327 Info HttpClient: GET https://api.themoviedb.org/3/search/movie?api_key=f6bd687ffa63cd282b6ff2c6877f2669&query=Mercenarios&language=pt-br 2022-04-11 23:41:20.521 Debug App: Throttling Tmdb by 106 ms 2022-04-11 23:41:20.627 Info HttpClient: GET https://api.themoviedb.org/3/movie/678751?api_key=f6bd687ffa63cd282b6ff2c6877f2669&append_to_response=casts,releases,images,keywords,trailers&language=pt-BR&include_image_language=pt-BR,pt,null,en If you open the query to TMDB you can see the item you actually want is actually the 6th item returned. Part of it is not using proper name "Os Mercenários" and language query. But using "Os Mercenários" returns "Os Mercenários 4" first. https://api.themoviedb.org/3/search/movie?api_key=f6bd687ffa63cd282b6ff2c6877f2669&query=Os%20Mercen%C3%A1rios&language=pt-br So in this example it would be impossible to know what you want returned with just "Mercenarios" in the flat structure you are using and potentially missing year. But yes some of this is specific to language. As "Expendables" get better result from provider. https://api.themoviedb.org/3/search/movie?api_key=f6bd687ffa63cd282b6ff2c6877f2669&query=expendables&language=en So there are many quirks with it comes to TMDB queries unfortunately.

  36. IMO Plex is doing something great ... almost It proves, that one can start playing on external service just from other app. What I would love to see is, that I can add a STUB file which will actually open AppleTV, Google etc and play the movie. This way I can store my DVDs/BluRays locally, but have 4K/HDR/DV versions as purchased copies on those services. I accept to manually create STUB files (just as i "make a safety copy" of my discs). I want to keep Emby as a place where my "purchased" movies reside. Just like "personal Movies Anywhere" (which is not available in my country). For streaming aggregation maybe I'll start to use Plex - who knows, but for "my own media" I want to continue with Emby.

  37. Hey everyone ! After watching the work you've done here for a while now, I've decided to show you my own advancement. There's not much yet, having never done any CSS before, I'm learning as I try to change things on my server ! Now amongs the things I'd like to do there's the manual login page, the folder view (I'd like to center the items in the Marvel folder and make them bigger too), add a background in the music album view that works the same way as the one on the home page but with album covers and switch the places of the user and settings icons ! If you got any inputs on one of the above, I'd be more than happy to read :)

  41. The Nvidia Shield is the one if you want TrueHD and/or DTS-HD. I recommend MakeMKV to get the contents off the Blu-ray/HD-DVD/DVD and Handbrake to compress/reencode after that. There are other options that become more attractive for bulk encoding or expert tweaking.

  42. You can just specify the aac encoder library you wish to use in the ffmpeg command line (assuming it uses the same syntax of course) -c:a aac_at You can probably easily test this out if you use the diagnostics plugin and do a text substitution. However, it appears this is an optional library, so introducing the possibility of not using the default library adds complexity (and support) .. Just out of curiosity, how does the aac_mf encoder stack up ? - as that appears to be already in the emby ffmpeg anyway but not necessarily in the Mac version .. ? ffmpeg version 4.5.0-emby_2021_12_10-g463c71b3b3+1170 Copyright (c) 2000-2021 the FFmpeg developers and softworkz for Emby LLC built with gcc 10.3.0 (Rev5, Built by MSYS2 project) Execution Date: 2022-04-06 08:45:37 A..... aac AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) A....D aac_mf AAC via MediaFoundation (codec aac)

  43. That's entirely up to you. You can (1) split the libraries up so that each user (even using the same login) can choose which to look at - or (2) if you give the users separate logins, you can restrict which libraries each login sees; or you can (3) divide the media into multiple folders of each type, then specify all the folders of that type to be part of the same library, and then restrict (different) users' access to the folders as required - that way, if logged in as themselves, they will see the same libraries as you, but with restricted contents. Or you can (4) keep everything together, but tag some media and show your user how to select only tagged media (e.g. tagged with their name) to be shown. You choose. Paul
    1 point
  44. Nothing will really help on Home Screen as that is a global view of all latest items. With only one account your only options would be physical organization of media and using Folder view on one library. Or creating two separate libraries one for each user. With separate accounts you could tag his or her media and restrict user to that tag. Or Tag all his or her media, favorite that tag then all you have to do is select Favorite and the favorited tag to see all media.

  45. Hi, it's a neat idea but the cost of that would add up. I don't see that as something we'd be able to include in Emby Premiere. Assuming you bear all of the costs for your own usage, wouldn't it be cheaper just to upgrade your server? Because you not only need to pay their costs, but you need adequate upload bandwidth to be able to stream to their cloud transcoding api on the fly.

  46. Possibilities are endless! Is it on road map? Or this thread will also end up like threads on plex forums where simple and basic features like this which can be implemented in short span of time takes years. These small things are not very flashy features but a nice add i think where you just have to remove a flag where it locks the video in landscape mode and let it respect android's auto rotate just like it does on iOS

  47. As posted by @tomnjerry74 yesterday - the only way you are going to do this properly is substitute the IP address with a DNS name. For local name resolution - you need to run a local DNS server and point all your devices to use that DNS server. For names not resolved by the local DNS server, then it forwards the lookup onto the internet DNS servers. Your router 'may' be able to do this for you - because unless you have specified direct DNS entries in your clients - this is likely how DNS is resolved today - ie it goes to your router first and then onto the internet DNS servers. I use a local DNS server myself and use a DNS name for all my emby clients, it is so much more flexible as well - for example changing an IP address means just changing a single DNS record, you don't have to touch the clients. What router do you have - it may have this built in ?

You want to know why it is allowing you something you should normally need to pay for. Thank you for bringing this to attention. @ebr I mean this in the most sincere way. Usually people are prone to take advantage. Thank you for being who you are. You are made of the good stuff.
