I'd like to have the option to clear 'alerts' in the dashboard. I realize that they go away on their own, but if I can clear them then it's more obvious IF a new alert comes through.2 points

No rush my friend. As I keep saying the improvements you have done so far are AMAZING! Auto Organize is so so much better now.2 points

Mm. Would definitely be nice to have a "clear alerts" link in the upper right of the alerts box.2 points

When setting up a new user I think it would be great if I could copy an existing user. Even better if you could copy certain aspects of a user like views , library access , parental settings1 point

Not sure if this has been requested yet or not, I did a little searching before posting so forgive me if this has been requested already. A nice feature to have would be something along the lines of a Kids Mode, some changes that i would forsee in this mode are: Simplified Playback (Instead of selecting the item then having to hit the play button just have it so when an item is selected it just plays.) Simplified Menus (Instead of separating Movies and TV (yes i know if i change my libraries i could accomplish this) have it more along the lines of maybe Character selections (i.e. Mickey Mouse) without having to search Move the Series and Movies selection to a main screen (i.e. Currently to browse for a movie you have to select the movie library then select the movies tab.) The option could be, if you wanted movies you can just hit movies, then all of your kids movies are displayed. Infinite scroll (Self explanatory, but the ability to keep scrolling instead of having to hit pages would be helpful for this mode) If anyone else has ideas for this mode feel free to add on. Thanks!1 point

The Mult-Select in the Server web app is super-useful (I'm so grateful to those that introduced me to it!). But given that the Server web app has some excellent filtering functions (eg, in my case I make use of filtering by Tags) it would be very handy to have a "Select All" functionality, so that I can filter down to the results I'm looking for and then easily add them to a Collection (or, when eventually we have Bulk Editing abilities, open a Bulk Edit view on all the Selected items). Thanks! PS - If this is something you might like to see implemented, be sure to "Like" this top/first post (as well as any subsequent posts in this thread that highlight particular aspects of what you are interested in) -- "Liking" the top/first post helps the Devs to know how much interest there is in a given Feature Request.1 point

Hello, I think it would be great to have a HA option to have 2 emby server totally redundancy. What do you think about that?1 point
-
Please click "Like this" and share it if you want to support this feature. Thank you ! Hello, There is a Kodi addon call "gdrive" from ddurdle who can read videos (original and transcoding version) directly from Google Drive. Why not build on this idea to integrate Google Drive as source directly in Emby Server ? In addition, Emby could generate automatically the STRM files from one or many Drive folders. And transcodings are already available with Drive so no need to transcode with Emby server. What do you think ? ------------- Three reasons why this feature will be useful and awesome: 1. Cloud is the future and today the cost is affordable. I have a Google Drive Unlimited for $50/month (ie $600/year) and I have unlimited space that is secured against crashes. Knowing the cost of hard drive and the cost of power consumption, its a very good deal. 2. Google Drive transcode video file. This provides different stream quality like Youtube (1080p, 720p, 480p and 360p) and the "image quality/compression ratio" is very satisfying. I can play 720p video on my poor 4 Mbits DSL. 3. You don't need to have a big server. Personally, I opted for a little dedicated server (Kimsufi 2G) for the cost and I can leave it run 24/7! Furthermore, me and my friends can watch movies from anywhere! Basics features that should be included: GOOGLE APPS OAUTH2 for activation and permission playing transcoded version (MP4 360p, 480p, 720p & 1080p) directly into Emby's app playing original file (avi, mkv, mp4) directly into Emby's app import embedded subtitles porwerful script module for multiple folder scanning and STRM generating1 point

Hey everyone ! After watching the work you've done here for a while now, I've decided to show you my own advancement. There's not much yet, having never done any CSS before, I'm learning as I try to change things on my server ! Now amongs the things I'd like to do there's the manual login page, the folder view (I'd like to center the items in the Marvel folder and make them bigger too), add a background in the music album view that works the same way as the one on the home page but with album covers and switch the places of the user and settings icons ! If you got any inputs on one of the above, I'd be more than happy to read :)1 point

As I have said before, I don’t use this for movies, but if you wanted another idea for an enhancement, radarr allows for the grouping of parent target folders I.e a,b,c,d etc, so you don’t then have many thousands of movies all in one folder and hard to sort/search, specially on windows. They get added to their parent folder of the same letter/number. I use this feature in radarr for my movies. I don’t think this feature is in emby auto organise. Just an idea for some future enhancement if it’s not there and you feel the need.1 point

Never use a 3rd party website, as you'll never know if the are clean or have been infected with spy/malware.1 point

King Pin - not sure about your first image. You have a second border thing under the line that has Home and Favorites in it ? I don't have that at all, so can't think of a way to get rid of it. Or do you want to have the Home and Favorites bar half as wide ? About scrolling, it doesn't seem to be possible with css any more. I came across this post, which I hope is relevant that might help (you have to update something every time there's a new server version). @Happy2Play hopefully knows if thats the right one.1 point

Check your ATV app settings, there's an option to allow it or not there. Personally keep it Off always as I'm irked if I'm kicked out of playback and dimmed screen suits my needs well enough, but as you've said, it's a personal preference.1 point

Double check your Linux server isn't doing a chron job at 01:00 like a backup. I say this because the cron job default settings are often at 01:00. See: https://sqlbackupandftp.com/blog/postgresql-job-scheduler1 point

I just found a new bug for you. This was three episides of deadline. This is a new show, so it has (2022) on the name (as there is a 2008 version of the same name in a diff language). When it is added (note, this is NOT in my emby library_, it is adding a second (2022) to the folder name. See here :1 point

OK, wait. I don't think you need to return the hardware. I just realized that I have a notebook here with the exact same graphics. And it doesn't have that problem. The one thing that's special about it: I haven't updated the OS or OS components for more than a year. Probably we've been heading into the wrong direction. But let's try something else (another difference): disable HuC and reboot. (I have a feeling about this one)1 point

You can send Luke the log by PM. Note FYI that in the upcoming server version 4.7 the logs will be sanitised for you. Paul1 point

Hey, My problem is not that the auto quality is too conservative. The problem comes from the fact that when playing video in auto, whether with my browser or other, the quality found by the auto is not good. 1.5mbps of bitrate for a ffth connection is weird.1 point

Grüße1 point

Can this ever be incorporated? It's been years now and it was shown to be possible in the EmbyTV Beta program and could be incorporated into current updates to the LiveTV transcoding system.1 point

Hi guys, interesting conversation - a few remarks: 1. Don't trust any 0-100% indicator Whether it is CPU usage in task manager, disk usage in performance monitor or any of those weird GPU metrics: The only truth you can gather from those is like a tristate "low", "average", "high". Beyond these, you can't take those values as for what we all would like them to look at. Due to the way how modern CPUs are managing their own clock rates, switching certain cores on and off, applying boost clock rates to increase single-core performance (but in reality not applying this to a specific core, but circulating this over all instead)). Disk I/O is highly dependent on the kind of access patterns being made, it's practically impossible to even define what "100%" would actually mean. And for the GPU metrics: those are telling just about nothing. You can't know what these are measuring at all: Seeing one value at 30% could mean anything. It could mean that the operation is already at the maximum, because the limiting factor sits elsewhere and in the current scenario, it's just from internal processing relations that value A is 30% when value D is at 100% (a value that might not even be shown there). So those 30%, don't necessarily mean that there's capacity for doing three of those executions in parallel. The opposite is possible as well: a value could be at 100% because that single operation is done in a - maybe super-fast or super-energy-saving - way, and the GPU does that as long as it can "afford" to do so, but as soon as the processing demand grows, it might choose a different method with higher throughput (but other downsides).. So: 100% doesn't even necessarily mean that you're running at the max. capacity already. 2. Don't underestimate the effect of throttling There have been mentions of throttling in a way that it can allow more simultaneous transcodings at a time, but there's a multiple times stronger effect and benefit involved when using throttling. Many of the considerations above were about system power input taken at a point in time, while the actual concern is this: Energy by time (e.g. 'Wh'). The time is equally (proportionally) important in this calculation and throttling can have a huge effect on that: When you have decent transcoding speeds, let's say 6.0x, and you have a video of 120 minutes, the video will be fully transcoded after 20 minutes. Now, assume you start watching 10 of such videos, and you'd watch each of them for 20 minutes, then your system will have transcoded each video to the end, which means, it has transcoded 1200 minutes of video. With throttling switched on, it will only transcode up to 2 or 4 minutes going forward from your playback position. After watching those 10 videos in the same way as above, we got (20 + 4) * 10 = 240 minutes => This is what's saving energy (unlike below) 3. Never mess around with thread affinity of thread priority settings! I can only assure you: whatever you try - it will just make things worse. Limiting cores for use by a certain process doesn't save energy, it costs energy. 4. Low TDP is not what you want TDP doesn't tell anything about the efficiency of a CPU. It's nothing more but telling system integrators about the amount of heat that needs to be conducted away. 5. A "weak" CPU doesn't necessarily save power Letting a CPU run at 100%is usually less effective than on average load. When there's high pressure and queues for execution are loaded, the CPU needs to make compromises in a different way which involves more frequent and less optimized context switches for example. Finally I wouldn't rely on anything or anyone and would rather set up a test scenario over like 12h, connect a power meter between the wall plug and the cable and try different scenarios. The number of influencing factors is just too high for good predictions to be made.1 point

As far as I know, you still need to unpac the sys.xz archive you can find in this thread to fool ffdetect to find your GPU. On another note: Is anybody successfully using Nvidia GPUs with Emby and FreeBSD to hardware transcode? And on top of that - would the steps be similar to run it in a jail? Just bought a Quadro P400 to help with transcoding.1 point

I like Emby, I really really do, but Emby don't love or really embrace Apple, and see it as a very very low priority. There are many ... foibles ... on both the Apple TV and Mac that should have been fixed years ago. As an observer and user, it *feels* like Emby tweak a line of code, then they have to wait a week or so to test it because they don't have easy access to Apple kit. If it doesn't work as expected, they modify that line of code. A week or few later, they test again. Repeat. Repeat. Development on Apple is glacial as a result. Would I recommend Emby to Apple users? Yes, it's *overall* a great ecosystem, the devs are responsive and this forum helpful (but every fix is on an endless todo list), so best to be prepared to be treated as an afterthought.1 point

Its been like this for at least 2 years now. Apple TV 4K (1st Gen). Its if you scroll with any speed other than slow when you have a few pages of stuff in your library.1 point

It's been nearly 3 years and we've done a lot of testing with NextGen LiveTV whixh would bring this functionality only to see it fizzle into vaporware. Any hope @Luke @ebr?1 point
