http://comicbook.yanapax.com/ OPEN SOURCE READER Would be great to integrate that into EMBY, create a library for people to read comics/pdfs/ebooks etc on the emby server instead of just a download link..... what do you guys think?1 point

Hello I am new to Emby, have been using Plex for a long time, but I am tired of Plex handling of Metadata. I have a folder of Rifftrax movies that I have personally embedded all the metadata into each file. I would like to create a library that ONLY reads embedded metadata. Zero data pulled from websites. It looks like I should be able to do that in the options when setting up a Library, but then the library loads zero art. How do I set the Library settings to use local embedded metadata and load the embedded art? Thanks Andy1 point

Is it possible to filter so that I can list all movies that are 'missing' from collections? E.g. If I have 'Back to the future' and 'Back to the future 3', It will show me that 'Back to the future 2' is missing, etc.. This will allow me to complete collections, and after watching a movie, I'll know that there's a sequel that I don't yet own. https://www.themoviedb.org/collection/264 This could also be applied to "Studio Albums" in music; would save my yearly searching for an artist to find out if they've released new music.1 point

Looks like you may need to start over. You have a sql error not positive why but can guess from the rollback. SQLitePCL.pretty.SQLiteException: Error: no such column: A.ForcedSortName - select And you have plugin errors from the rollback so all plugins need removed and readded.1 point

I've got that setup in place right now on my 920+ and happen to be doing some benchmark testing to see if the USB SSD is beneficial to TV/DVR recording or not. If it were an internal drive I'm sure it's helpful but since the external SSD is limited by the USB3 interface it's hard to guess. I know my NAS (920+) only has USB 3.2 Gen 1 Ports and not the Gen 2 ports. So it's limited to 5MB max throughput vs 10Mb that gen 2 has. Of course there is overhead going from USB3 to SATA so realistically it's more like 3.5MB of actual usable bandwidth. Later in the week I'll be able to check this as well as I'm moving the data off my Synology to another server so I'll be able to benchmark the difference between the bandwidth available mounted internal vs external USB vs eSata.1 point

It's basically patching a file. The instructions are in Github. Search for "NVENC and NvFBC patches for Windows Nvidia drivers" in Google.1 point

Where is this "screen grabber image provider" located? I know this thread is old and outdated. I have the same issue SparkBibo above. ExPlex user with metadata and images in the video file (.mp4). I had been using the system default even though I still update each new video file with artwork and metadata using macOS iFlicks. Now that Im adding 4k material, which plays great on my Apple TV 4K and Big screen TV. So I edit the Primary image to the 4k version using the "Search for new Image" option. I can't seem to lock the image either. So if the video file gets moved like into a folder for that movie the image is defaulted back the the original that I had replaced. If there is a better way to get the primary image and metadata from the .mp4 file or to manully lock down Primary image and edited metadata please direct me to the process. The emby guide is outdated and needs to be updated the metadata manager material is for a different version. I'm using Ubuntu 4.6.7.0. I can't find refresh images anywhere on the manager. Still Emby-server is orders of magnitude better than Plex! I would be nice if some more 4k tools were generated to support the higher resolution. File naming support and Movie Splash page with the Video codec 4k: HEVC HDR are great starters. Getting the correct Primary image would help. I realize that may pose a harder solution, at least having one lockdown for a file (Images and metadata) would be a great enhancement. I thought I read that a Beta version with some image and metadata fixes are in the works. I hope it can resolve some of my issues. Thank you for any assistance you can provide me. @cayars1 point

Hi guys, After some time trying different settings, I managed to get it to work. What made it work though, was plugging my server and TV on the same router/switch. Not sure what the streaming parts is trying to setup in the router, probably some UPnP thing that is somehow required only when playing. Given that other functions were ok on the TVs (browsing media folders, login, etc) and other devices also played everything, that is pretty weird. Regardless, I was able to get back to play the files.1 point

It could be the same - just a case of the last straw breaking the camel's back. Paul1 point

Hi, if the TV supports the subtitle format, or if the subtitle format is plain text and can be easily converted to something the TV supports, then yes, this will help avoid transcoding. It won't help for something like PGS subtitles which are graphic and can't be easily converted to plain text.1 point

If you want Emby to recognise things correctly, you must name them sufficiently closely to Emby's stated requirements; if you don't want to do this, then you'll have to get used to Emby getting it wrong. Paul1 point

Yeah, thanks, I got it. On UNRAID it usually 99 (nobody) and 100 (group) which is what I use. I was confused by the "default value" being set to 2. But I basically set it up the same way as I had the binhex/emby docker as well... It was easier to pass my nvidia card to the official docker for some reason.. Regardless everything seems to be working smoothly... .. Now gotta get my 10gb card working right.. Thanks again for the input -g1 point

Hi, yes it's not a bad idea. Thanks for the feedback.1 point

Thank you for the reply. I got this working. I also installed Plex to check if it is working and during the setup in NAS a pop up came up saying this about System internal user. Maybe Emby should follow this step as well.1 point

Just to give you an idea of the "muscle" those CPUs have. Combined they have a Passmark score of 359 with 8 total cores and 8 total threads. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Xeon+E5606+%40+2.13GHz&id=1247&cpuCount=2 Combined they are about equal to an i3-6100 circa 2015 or a more modern 2020 Intel Pentium Silver J5040 @ 2.00GHz Passmark 3586 4 cores 4 threads https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Pentium+Silver+J5040+%40+2.00GHz&id=3665 The Pentium CPU uses 10 watts of power and the 2 Xeons use 160 watts (together). The Pentium has an onboard Intel UHD Graphics 605 the Xeons don't. It gets worse. For Single Thread Rating rating score of the Pentium is 1421 while the Xeons are close to half at 813. This can be quite important when you have something like ffmpeg that will only run some codecs on a couple of cores. Of course that's just the CPU being talked about. The IO will be worse on the older system as well across the board and 4GB of slow memory isn't much. Dual Xeons regardless of age don't come into their own until you feed them lots of memory. I don't know if you just happen to come across that system or if you're activity looking for a new system. Let us know and we can likely point you in a much better direction. Also what's wrong with the current PC running Emby? What's the specs of the current machine. Maybe an upgrade is a better solution. It of course depends on how much you want to spend but dollar for dollar the new Alder Lake Intel i5-12600K is hard to top. It's a unique new design that has 6 Performance Cores (P-Cores) and four Efficient Cores (E-Cores) with a total of 16 threads. Each P core has a hyper thread while the E-cores do not.6+6+4=16 threads. It actually has more physical cores than a Core i9 11900K (previous gen). The single core performance is very close to it's big brother the new i9. This i5 scores far better than AMD's coveted 5950X. It can use the new really fast DDR5 RAM and supports the new PCIe 4 buss for additional speed. The Core i5 12600K is the best CPU for gaming right now in general but surely for the dollar nothing comes close. This is the K model which K means unlocked and can be overclocked with onboard sensors that throttle down the CPU is overclock settings would hurt the chip. You can get another 10 to 17% out of it compared to the benchmarks ran at default speeds. Best of all is that Intel is pricing the new Alder Lake chips very aggressively. The i5 is currently selling for about 1/2 what it normally would sell for. Intel is trying to stick it to AMD. The K version is usually the most expensive chip compared to other versions and right now this chip brand new is selling around $279-$299 and maybe even a bit cheaper with Holiday sales or coupons. You can get them for about $250 if you look hard enough. A top of the line Gamers edition Z609 Motherboard supporting DDR5 memory with all the latest unlocked bios, 4 x Dual-Channel DDR5 RAM Slots, 3 onboard M.2 PCI memory slots, extra PCI 5 slots, 40GB Thunderbolt, etc will set you back about $500. Assuming it's not for gaming and you don't need the M.2 slots of board, don't mind the auto overclock for about 10% over defaults will cost about $160 which is a huge difference in price. The high end boards are way overkill unless you want to use the expensive DDR5 memory and PCIe 4 M2/SSDs. So for roughly $450-$500 you have the two main components of a fire breathing new computer that could possibly use every other component in your current system. I forgot to mention this chip has the new Intel UHD Graphics 770 graphics on board so no need for a separate GPU for Emby use. BTW, this chip has a Passmark CPU score of 24879 at default clock rates so with just auto-overclocking turned on you are well over 25K. I don't know if this type of setup is out of your price range or not. $199 HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Desktop, Intel Core i5 6500 3.2Ghz, 4GB DDR4 RAM, 500GB Hard Drive, Windows 10 Home, Intel HD Graphics 530 Passmark 5044 https://www.newegg.com/hp-elitedesk-800-g2-business-desktops-workstations/p/1VK-001E-1WCE8?Description=hp elitedesk 800 g2&cm_re=hp_elitedesk 800 g2-_-1VK-001E-1WCE8-_-Product&quicklink=true Maybe you might even want to look at small form factor PC such as $199 Intel Quad Core i3-6100T, 8GB DDR4 Ram, 256GB SSD with HD 530 Graphics Passmark 3579 (check on the HD 530 for transcoding in the forums) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082MPZ839/ref=as_li_ss_tl?SubscriptionId=AKIAJO7E5OLQ67NVPFZA&ascsubtag=406899790-2-291805203.1640205636&tag=shopperz_origin1-20 $249 Beelink GK55 Mini PC Intel Processor J4125(up to 2.7GHz) Windows 10 Pro,8G LPDDR4/256G SSD High Performance Business Mini Computer,4K UHD,2.4G/5G Dual WiFi,BT4.0,Dual HDMI Ports with Intel UHD Graphics 600 graphics This is the same CPU/GPU used in the Synology NAS most people go for on the forum since it has the 600 graphics Passmark score 3035 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Beelink-GK55-Mini-PC-Intel-Processor-J4125-up-2-7GHz-Windows-10-Pro-8G-LPDDR4-256G-SSD-High-Performance-Business-Computer-4K-UHD-2-4G-5G-Dual-WiFi-BT/627841536?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=101084798 $349 CUK Slim SFF Professional Mini PC (Intel 10th Gen i3, 8GB RAM, 256GB NVMe SSD, Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630, Windows 10 Home) Business Computer (Made_by_HP_) Passmark 8828 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09BGJMTHG/ref=as_li_ss_tl?SubscriptionId=AKIAJO7E5OLQ67NVPFZA&ascsubtag=799043500-2-291805203.1640205636&tag=shopperz_origin1-20 $479 Beelink SEi8 Mini PC 8th Generation Intel i5-8279U Processor,(up to 4.1GHz) Windows 10 Pro Mini Computer with 8G DDR4 RAM/256GB M.2 NVME SSD,Supports 6MB Smart Cache,4K@30Hz Dual HDMI,WiFi,BT5.0, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 Passmark 8129 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SGCQRYX/ref=as_li_ss_tl?SubscriptionId=AKIAJO7E5OLQ67NVPFZA&ascsubtag=330532379-2-291805203.1640205636&tag=shopperz_origin1-20 $469 Intel NUC 11 Performance mini Desktop Computer, 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 4-Core (11th Gen), Intel Iris Xe Graphics https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1620548-REG/intel_rnuc11pahi50001_nuc_barebones_i5_1135g7_tall.html/specs Passmark 101841 point

Hi guys, i got some audiobooks last weekend and i importet them directly into my library. I split my music and my audiobooks but i can't find a audio-book library type. Now i use the music type but the books called album and the files called songs. I followed the music naming guide in the wiki to group the files. In my opinion the music type is not ideal for audio-books. My Request is to create a audio-book type looks like the series in movies. If i missed the feature and it is already in emby could we extend the music naming wiki page with an audio-book part? Thanks a lot!1 point

In general I think it would be nice to have more control over the watched status indicators. Personally I have no need for them in my movie library, and I always uncheck them when I see them. (When I start forgetting what movies I've seen is how I'll know the end is near.) As for TV, it's good to know how many episodes I've got left in a series, but only if it's a series I actually watch. I mean if I don't watch a certain show, the number of episodes I haven't seen is beyond irrelevant to me. (And I really don't need to know how many episodes exist of whatever awful "reality" dating shows my friends and family are into.) Just saying options would be great.1 point

Great point! It seems like the only consistent thing about these watched indicators is how inconsistent they are.1 point

Well here is the definition of those settings: No Query String: Only delivers files from cache when there is no query string. Ignore Query String: Delivers the same resource to everyone independent of the query string. Standard: Delivers a different resource each time the query string changes. What I use is the Standard setting. What this would do is allow use of cached items whenever the URL is the same as a previous call except for content that was not allowed to be cached due to the rules we put in place (ie videos). When you switch this to No Query String using Emby you have really turned off most of the caching as Emby uses query strings extensively. As an example here is the poster off my system for Days of Thunder. With a setting of Standard this can be cached and re-used again without it being pulled from my server. With the No Query String option set this image would get fetched every time from your system. https://domain.ext/emby/Items/945831/Images/Primary?maxHeight=300&maxWidth=200&tag=d73ac8d91d67ec31d805e3ac3956ef1f&quality=90 What you have found two different ways is that essentially turning off caching solves your problem. Now we need to figure out why and where the problem needs correcting. It could be another setting at Cloudflare or it could be an NGINX setting. If this was my system I think I would try to standup another copy of Emby either on another computer or using the portable version with different ports set to coexist running at the same time as your main server. I would add a small library of files to use for testing then I would set this up with a unique subdomain in Cloudflare as normal but then have it bypass NGINX on the local side. Besides the common ports of 80 & 443, Cloudflare has other ports that can be used that they will forward. Here is a list of ports they will forward that you can use. HTTP ports supported by Cloudflare 80 8080 8880 2052 2082 2086 2095 HTTPS ports supported by Cloudflare 443 2053 2083 2087 2096 8443 They also have one other series of ports specifically setup to redirect but not use caching. I would avoid these ports for this test but if ultimately you can't solve this problem might be a consideration down the road. Caching is disabled for the following ports 2052 2053 2082 2083 2086 2087 2095 2096 8880 8443 It's a bit of work to do this test but it should at least determine if things work or not when nginx is inline. This can help to focus what needs looking at. Let us know what you find out, Carlo1 point
-
One thing to add: If you use Chrome to check whether the rules are working correctly, make sure to check the little checkbox "Disable cache" on top of the Network tab in the devtools. Otherwise chrome might just serve you content from its local cache. Other than that: Thanks for the guide1 point
-
Is it possible to ask for the nginx config you use? Nvm, found this Thanks for your work and sharing.1 point
-
OK that's good as it seems you've found the issue. Of course it may not be Cloudflare but a reverse proxy issue if you're running nginx. Running any reverse proxy? I would say the next step you want to do is compare your settings to these: If running nginx compare to these as well: Let us know if you found any differences and if so how retesting goes when you turn off debug mode.1 point

Hi All, So just to keep the momentum going in this thread - we have some exciting developments from the IntroSkip team that we are are currently testing. The big one is Auto-Skip is now automatically seamlessly jumping the detected Intro during playback on all clients/platforms There is a bit more testing to do, but this should be available for open testing/feedback some time next week.1 point

Is there any chance for update with grey subtitles for LG TV app? This the simplest option to solve the issue with too bright subtitles, no matter it is hdr or non hdr content. Honestly, it is game changer. This is one option with i am missing, the rest seems very good.1 point

As daedalus mentions - just mux the chapters with the video and audio into an mkv container. Easiest way: download and install mkvtoolnix run mkvtoolnix GUI drag your existing video into the "Source files" panel click the "output" tab drag the chapters file (txt or xml) into the "Chapter file:" box Click "Start muxing"1 point
