This already happens where possible. If they are SRT/TXT based and embedded (a stream in the MP4/MKV), then in the transcode settings ensure '"Allow subtitle extraction on the fly" is enabled but read the warning. Graphical subtitles can never be extracted on the fly, as this would need OCR - so they are simply burnt in during the forced transcode. The absolute best way to ensure no transcoding with subtitles (ie Direct Play), is to external SRT based subtitles - either got from external sources, or extracted using dedicated OCR applications such as Subtitle Edit and then saved as external SRT.

Hi everyone.. Lg hasn't yet created an Emby app for the 2021 models. This applies to both software version 6 and 3.20 and above. The only option to use EMBY is to run a web browser on the TV. Go to the EMBY website and log in to the server and then add the tab shortcut to the main panel of the screen. Then you can see Emby at the bottom of the screen and go straight to the EMBY server without entering your login and password again. IT WORKS, because on my LG 43UP7800 I have it done. REGARDS. Ps. Wtedy jest widoczne Emby na dole ekranu i wchodzić od razu bezpośrednio na serwer EMBY bez kolejnego wpisywania login i hasła. TO DZIAŁA, bo na moim LG 43UP7800 tak mam to zrobione. POZDRAWIAM. Ps. not sure if emby can accomdate this but it can't hurt to ask i use Emby with my HDHomerun OTA device to record live tv. it works great but i'm wondering if there is a way around this minor inconvenience If a TV Show (primary sports) has a generic name "College Basketball" etc (also happens for "NFL Football" , "College Football" etc etc) then if i record a game today the poster.jpg will be the artwork for those 2 teams. if i then record another game tomorrow the poster.jpg will be updated to those 2 new teams. ideally i'm looking for the the generic College Basketball main folder artwork with each recording inside of it having the artwork for the individual games. currently if i record 10 Basketball games the artwork will be the artwork of the the last poster.jpg which would only be those 2 teams that recorded last. hope this makes sense. any other ways i can set this up to accomplish this? in the screenshots attached just showing on generic sports is titled "College Basketball" and each game has it's own artwork

Have those "additional video file such as trailers, interviews, backstages, etc." in sub-folder(s), as per KB article: Emby Movie Naming : Emby

While I mostly agree with others about the Shield I do not think that "best" should be based solely on the technical abilities of a device. There are also the factors like "ease of use" that should be considered. I own a Shield TV and a Fire 4K and a Roku Ultra. For me I have found that no matter what I try just about any time I have a choice I choose to use the Ultra. It does have a few formats that must be transcoded to play but I only have videos in my libraries that will direct play. I simply find that my Ultra is the easiest device to use and its picture is every bit as good as my other streaming devices. Yes, if I wanted or needed to stream files of high bit rates and or of very large size I might need the Shield but I can see little or no difference between regular bit rate files and high bit rate ones. Just my personal opinion but I find the Roku Ultra the best streaming box there is.

The reason I ask is there does appear to be the dreaded 'PES mismatch' in the FFMPEG log - suggesting the stream and/or ffmpeg has issues, but if you can watch it ok, you should be able to record it ok. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/54700786/how-do-i-fix-the-pes-packet-size-mismatch-error-in-ffmpeg This might be one for the Dev's to look at I'm afraid - as you have tried all the obvious things. When you sign in to EmbyConnect why does it persist with the "Sign in to EmbyConnect" besides the server list? This always give me the impression I am not actually signed in or something didn't work. It should be "Sign out of EmbyConnect" once logged in, surely? I have no idea if the servers I am looking at are locally configured or presented to me through the EmbyConnect web portal.

Yes. I would like Emby to just send the Wake On Lan/packets automatically when it opens. I'm not wild about having to sit through two failed connection attempt timeouts before I can manually command Emby to wake the server. As is, its actually easier and faster to just use the Wake On Lan app to wake the server manually before opening Emby, but this seems to be an unnecessary/onerous step. You should be able to just open Emby and do what you need to do without the extra hassle of using the Wake On Lan app.

I think the best thing is to leave the brackets (ex. '[' and ']') up to the user to add in the naming scheme. But I can add the regex to locate the version. That way the naming scheme would look like: "[%ver]" This would out the version inside the brackets. Or you could leave them out etc.

There is not yet an option to open the detail page of items, it would be great if this feature could be added.

Just had a look over there at the guys of Jellyfin. Okay they dont have a WebOS Client on the Store, but what they do is to give their users a manual method how to build an install IPK's on WebOS. https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-webos Instead of trying now for two years to get an update into the LG store, wouldnt it be a better idea to simple share the source or an precompiled IPK to the Emby community and tell them: Here you got it, this is the way to install it. Take precautions and do your best! I dont know if that would have been a problem back in the days when Emby was still Open Source and the Community was really involved.

Hi, the downloads section of the server dashboard can tell you that someone has used the download feature, but it doesn't provide that kind of granular detail. Good ideas for the future though. Thanks.

Hi, it's in your options for each library, so click on your Movies library in Emby library setup, then change the order of priority of metadata fetchers. Please note, I wouldn't suggest this, because aside from the ratings, Omdb data is inferior to MovieDb in most other respects. But if you really want to, that's how you 'll do it.

@clarkss12 I feel your pain. Emby DVR is a mess. I used to have to have it record everything and deal with the dupes because if I checked the box not to record episodes that were in my library it would miss recordings because it seems the guide data is inconsistent, or it scrapes data from too many sources with glaring differences in what episode is what.....then I finally had most of my TV shows up to date except NEW episodes so I have now set them all to not record episodes already in my library.....and now it records everything over and over and over again, even in the same day when the same episode airs 2 or three times. It's not even smart enough to only record one that day! The really bad part is I can look at the guide and see that over the next 5-10 hours it will errantly record a bunch of dupes and if I go to each episode in the guide and click "do not record"....it STILL RECORDS all the dupes. I sure hope the new version of Live TV fixes all these issues because the current version is almost unusable.
