  1. Hi All, So just to keep the momentum going in this thread - we have some exciting developments from the IntroSkip team that we are are currently testing. The big one is Auto-Skip is now automatically seamlessly jumping the detected Intro during playback on all clients/platforms There is a bit more testing to do, but this should be available for open testing/feedback some time next week.

  2. Auto skip anyone? Smooth like butter.

  3. It can also depend on the container. My TCL Roku TV won't play DolbyVision in MKV, but has no problem with it in MP4. DolbyVision is 100% proprietary and to get any type of tone mapping is currently not possible. The metadata can be extracted and saved so you can encode it down and reapply the metadata, but that was created with specialized software and is not exactly easy to use and can't be done in real time. Unless your hardware can play DolbyVision, stay away from it, and if it can play DolbyVision, check to see what profiles it can handle and understand that a profile that is not supported by your hardware, makes the file completely useless as tone mapping it is currently not possible. I have a separate library for DolbyVision just to stop people from playing them on unsupported hardware.

  4. Hi all, i guess it is not only me, waiting for official statements about the progress of Emby for LG. If any one is searching for alternative solutions, the main page of Emby shows how to install on other devices to. Let just wait here for UPDATES. Thanks ebr for the update. best regards and a nice day!

  5. Really? the same movie again? According to you, the fault is of the users that we don't want to believe you, right? Have you read the thread carefully? It is a shame. What any serious team would have done a long time ago, is not to repeat and parrot the same thing over and over again for a year and a half, but to PROVIDE a minimum of evidence. For example email A screenshot where you can see the update request. Where you can see the rejection of LG. Anyway, there are a thousand ways to at least give people something without getting into polemics of data protection or privacy (I see you coming). What you are doing is shameful, there is no other explanation. And thank goodness I didn't buy the lifetime version at the time, because maybe you could be accused of fraud or something similar if we start digging into the laws ... I do not know if I would be very wrong, buutttt..... People buy a lifetime service, you have published the compatibility with LG, and then I can't use it. What do you call that?

  6. I do feel sorry for you. Spent all your money on a brand new LG OLED TV and now you have no more money. Have you ever heard of "Go Fund Me"?

  7. In the Live TV settings you can set Recording Paths for movies and series, but there are some occasions where it would be handy to have a custom recording path set when you schedule a recording. For example, I have separate folders and libraries for Kids Movies and Kids TV Shows as well as my regular Movies and TV Shows folder. If I schedule something for the kids, when I'm scheduling the recording I'd like to have an option to automatically send that recording to the Kids Movies folder. I'm imagining that being in the settings menu, when looking at the recording through the guide.

  8. It is definitely something you can turn off and on. It is based on user accounts, so you can choose the users who have the feature enabled, as well as the master on off toggle.

  9. We hope to eventually have the button, but the auto skip was added for now since adding a skip button requires changes to be made to each client to add it and is not something a plugin can do. However, we’ve been privately discussing a possible temporary solution to still give the user the choice to skip or not until the Emby devs add the button, so stay tuned…

  10. i guess its too much work. I can clearly imagine new customer. He try out Emby on his superb Android Tv and he likes it, so he support you. Then what about we buy kids tv to their room. So customer go to the electronic store and see great price on LG tv. He hesitate. Check Emby website. Ohh it is supported. Nice. So he buy it. Go home and no app on LG store. So he checks forum. Oh great solution. Go and buy shield. It is better.

  11. We are giving people options because there are people in here who said they have waited 2 years for an app to be released in the store and may not know there are not only other ways, but much better ways to get Emby on their LG TV. If you do not like those options then please you can simply ignore them.

  12. Please stop trying to find alternative "solutions", like buying or using additional device. This thread is about the status of the Emby app on LG TVs, not how to not use Emby on LG TVs.

  13. Why not buy a Shield now and then sell it later when an app gets published? It's sure better than sneaker netting your media while waiting and you can get some of that money back later. Downside is that most likely you won't want to sell your Shield later because you will get used to the fact that the Shield supports a lot more things like DTS:X, DV profile 7, etc which the TV app will never support and you won't want to go back.

  14. Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless

  15. Feature Request: Have User Groups and all settings applied at the Group Level That way you can just assign users to the appropriate Group and all settings will be inheritated.

  16. One thing that I would like to see implemented is the abilty to display lyrics in all of the apps. For those of us who have libraries with lyrics embedded in the actual files, it would be trivial. Simply scrape the lyrics from the lyrics tag and display them. As far as scraping from online lyrics databases, I don't see that working very well as just about every app that I have seen use it either doesn't get the correct lyrics or they are truncated with an add for the website.

  17. While Emby already has recommendations built in based on previously watched items I find they are not all that helpful. They seem to be based on genre only, for example, because you watched a comedy here are other comedies in your library. I do like how the also directed by/appear in recommendations work though. What would be great is if Emby could incorporate Trakt's recommendations as they are much more sophisticated. Trakt's recommendations are not only based off of what you have previously watched but also what your Trakt friends and other Trakt users have watched. It takes user ratings and trending/popular media into account. Ideally Emby would include full Trakt integration allowing users to rate media after watching, view lists and recommendations, and view upcoming media all from within Emby but for now I think recommendations would be a nice addition. Trakt has the potential to give Emby that community feel and allow users to discover new media, find something to watch, and recommend media to other users. http://docs.trakt.apiary.io/#reference/recommendations

  18. It would be nice if MBS could incorporate a Commercials.XML file generated from Comskip or ShowAnalyzer and use this to automatically skip over commercials in the web client. Ideally, I'd like to see this work like DVRMSToolbox's DTBAddin. You would have a setting in LiveTV for commercials location. During a media scan, it would match the .XML file name to a recorded TV file and generate the appropriate commercial markers based in the commercials files. When streaming from the web client, it would use this data to automatically bypass the commercials, but allow the user to go back if section was marked incorrectly. Option 1: Translate the commercials file into the chapter/scene markers. Users could manually skip to the next scene. Option 2: Make special commercial markers and automatically skip like DTBAddin Maybe this could expand later where you could have MBS scan files as well.

  21. Yes, Download Images in Advance is checked. Some of the series refreshed their images without me manually setting off the metadata refresh. I just set off a refresh for all TV Shows. Movies look good. Music is missing images so I kicked off a metadata fresh on that too. I rolled back the metadata path back to undefined.

  22. Agree. I meant temporary as in you could sell whatever solution you came up with in order to get some of your money back once an app is approved by LG testers. Personally, I couldn't wait 2 years and no way I'm using USB if I had a new C1 because I'm too lazy. Hopefully, they can talk some sense into the people at LG soon

  26. Those of us who have offered options are only trying to help provide temporary solutions to those who may not be aware. You can keep on getting upset at me all you wish, but I'm not going to stop trying to help those who need something to get them by until the Emby devs can get you an app published by LG you're happy with.

  29. Looks nice. Will there be an option to skip the intro or will the plugin skip the intro without questing the user to do it? I thought it could be like the Netflix or Prime skip button where you have the choice to skip or not. It may could it have the same layout like the Netflix one. It's decent, transparent and on one of the lower corners. Emby's design generally looks outdated. It is more reminiscent of Kodi than a modern media player..

  30. ??? My complaint? I just politely asked several times HERE IN THIS TOPIC ONLY that we can be informed of the steps taken by posting a timeline, and I was just literally ignored without any response. Please rename this thread to "Workarounds to use Emby with LG TVs".

  32. I would also check the following out as it works perfectly for me and has been tweaked over the years, i.e VFScache is now the preferred option [Unit] Description=RClone Mount Service Wants=network-online.target After=network-online.target [Service] Type=notify KillMode=none ExecStart=/bin/rclone mount YOURRCLONEMOUNTNAME: /PATH/TO/YOUR/LOCAL/MOUNT/POINT \ --config /root/.config/rclone/rclone.conf \ --cache-dir=/vfscache/YOURMOUNTNAME \ --vfs-cache-max-size 80G \ --poll-interval 15s \ --log-level INFO \ --dir-cache-time 5000h \ --vfs-cache-mode writes \ --vfs-read-chunk-size 128M \ --vfs-cache-max-age 3h \ --vfs-cache-poll-interval 5m \ --allow-other \ --bwlimit 110M \ --no-checksum \ --no-modtime \ --drive-pacer-min-sleep 10ms StandardOutput=file:/rclonelogs/rclone_vfs_mount_flix2.log ExecStop=/bin/fusermount -uz /PATH/TO/YOUR/LOCAL/MOUNT/POINT Restart=on-failure [Install] WantedBy=default.target You can add any flags you needed in your previous messages here However Note the following Path Mounts /PATH/TO/YOUR/LOCAL/MOUNT/POINT This is the folder you created on your PI in which the Rclone Mount is Mounted, this is entered twice both at the top and in the unmount command at the bottom YOURRCLONEMOUNTNAME This is your Rclone Mount NAME VFS Cache Settings --vfs-cache-max-size 80G \ --vfs-cache-mode writes \ --vfs-read-chunk-size 128M \ Set Max size to whatever you like, obviously depends on how much storage space you have Cache Mode Writes means files you upload to gdrive will get cached this is useful in certain situations and for certain applications, it will cache them for the specified time or until the cache limit is hit. Don't use Full at first which is another option as that caches read and writes and if you scan say with Emby will cause the cache to fill up quick as the emby scan will pull down chunks of files and vfs will cache them all, after an initial scan is complete then you could switch this to full if you have good space Read Chunk Size is important, default is 128M anyway, And you can add a MAX flag as well however on initial scan i always found setting this to 8mb and max at 32mb meant i did not hit any google api bans, once scan complete you can set back to 128M or remove flag all together Bandwidth Limits --bwlimit 110M \ Set this to the maximum bandwidth you want to allow, this affects both uploads and Downloads. So if your net connection is say 200Mbps but you only want half avaliable for use set this to 12M (12*8 =96mbps) Api Limits --drive-pacer-min-sleep 10ms Depending on your api limits you may need to change this (Google recently updated the api limits (the old flag used to be called tpslimit) if you have the increased api limits then leave as set above see here for reasoning and how to check - Quotas per 100 Seconds Logging StandardOutput=file:/rclonelogs/rclone_vfs_mount_MOUNTNAME.log If you want logs of whats happening (info) then set the path here Avoiding Errors Systemd and failures whne starting services can be a royal pain in the backside so i do this before starting If using vfscache create the folder you stated in the --cache-dir first If using logging create the folder you stated in -standardOutput=file Then create the logfile itself - nano rclone_vfs_mount_MOUNTNAME.log ,then ctrl o and ctrl x to close and save If any of the folders already have files init you may get exit code 1 error so always best to use fresh folder, or add the allow non empty flag Then: systemctl start YOURSYSTEMDFILENAME.service If it starts without error then type: systemctl enable YOURSYSTEMDFILENAME.service And check if it's loaded with systemctl status YOURSYSTEMDFILENAME.service You can create one of these files for each mount you make just name it something different

  34. Hi. What version of the app do you have? There should be a "Folders" tab at the top.

  35. Why don't you want to write a timeline of all your attempts? With date, submitted version, LG's response and the reason for the refusal? it will be more clear to everyone.

  36. It does support LG, but agree it could be worded better and mention years until something is done

  37. There are cheaper boxes too if you can't afford the Shield. The fact is waiting 2 years for an app seems a little silly.

  38. With the latest experimental versions the delete option is still broke. This line in my keymaps.xml is no longer working. <F5>RunPlugin(plugin://plugin.video.emby-next-gen?mode=delete)</F5><!-- Delete Emby item context menu shortcut will activate when pressing "F5" --> Another issue that I have lately is that Kodi is crashing when starting or while scrolling through my libraries. Not sure if this is Emby next gen or Kodi 19.3 related. With 19.2 I did not have this issue this often as now. Also new recorded items do not show up automatically (again). A manual library refresh or sometimes a library repair is needed to see the new added recordings again. An issue that I have for a long time is that when I turn off my devices and Kodi is not closed by my Shield TV and I come back later my videos do only play in the background. I hear the audio but I only see the episode screen where I started the video rom with the loading icon turning. Not sure if this is Kodi or Emby next gen related but it is really annoying because the only way to get it right again is force Kodi to close and re-open Kodi. This was already happening at Kodi 18. Thanks. kodi.log kodi.old.log

  40. So, we're going on four years in this thread without it being implemented yet. Plex has had this since before this thread was started. Are we going to see this anytime soon? To me, this is "table stakes" for a DVR function. I have at least four different folders / libraries that I am actively recording into at any given time based on who the recording is for or what sort of audience will be watching it (or when - I have one where I record holiday movies off of TV only).

  41. All good! I have heard/read very good things about the Shield and it appears to be the premiere streaming device out there. I just prefer less clutter if possible and, like you, my requirements aren't that technical!

  42. Me neither, but as current schema apparently ain't obvious enough - and as you've said yourself, this ain't the first time it's been popping-up, quite the contrary - can't think of another way to make it more apparent save introducing more of annoying helper text/links. This way at least wouldn't be "in your face" constantly, only occasionally sighted.
    1 point
  43. I agree with crusher11. This should have been made more obvious in the UI... I guess it may be client specific but that is why the annoying "See all" option was added also. But how would you make it more obvious?

  44. It should work, I sideloaded the standard android app using tv mode and horizontal layout on the fire stick 4k it worked normally.

  45. Because the load is so slow compared to clients like Kodi, you will be glad it only needs to be updated once a day. You will need to schedule the task for a time after the time you set in NextPVR. This is generally done overnight when you aren't recording and when the time doesn't matter Martin

  47. Long version: The best thing to do is stay away from DV profile 5 material (stuff from Disney+, Netflix, etc) if your video path doesn't support DV as there is no secondary HDR10 layer to fall back on with these files. This stuff will look green or purple on nonDV setups. The DV profile 7 stuff found on UHD discs has a secondary HDR10 layer which nonDV setups can fall back on and still trigger HDR. Tone mapping only works on HDR10 (at least as of now) and not the DV layer itself which is proprietary as mentioned earlier. You can see the DV profile of your stuff by using the open source app mediainfo. DV profile 5 with no HDR10 layer HDR format : Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.05.06, BL+RPU DV profile 7 with the secondary HDR10 layer HDR format : Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible

  48. For those running the Emby Server stable release, now you can install directly from Synology Package Center: This is the easiest possible method of installation. Please note the Synology Package Center version of Emby Server may sometimes run a little behind due to the Synology review process. For this reason we'll still be making downloads available on our website for manual installation: https://emby.media/download View the full article

  49. I would like to be able to mark individual media items or even perhaps entire libraries to be excluded from media scans. If I have retrieved all the metadata and images I want for a particular TV series or Music collection and I know that the files will never change and the metadata should never change, I would like to be able to exclude it from scans to a ) reduce scan time b ) decrease the likelihood of unwanted changes being made c ) reduce network utilization I've noticed that even with series that have not had any new episodes in years (and no changes have been made in my filesystem) there is still information being downloaded from metadata providers. I suppose that is to check to make sure it is current/complete, but it is a waste of my network resources which are not plentiful. Perhaps this could be implemented by adding the option to not rescan media that has been marked as locked.

  50. Apologies if this feature is already there (or requested) somewhere. I'd like to know when emby is recording (or just using) a tuner. Perhaps at the top of the TV guide there could be small icons representing my tuners that change color when they're in use. I like the way nPVR's tray icon turns red when recording. I think it would be useful to know at a glance my available tuners are when I'm going through the TV guide via the Roku (or whatever device). That would also let me know how busy the system already is before I might start another stream/recording. It would also be sweet if each icon displayed exactly which tuner it represents, maybe having the last two digits of the tuners mac address displayed in the icon. Not sure if any of this would be possible. Hope this makes sense. Thanks, Bobby
