  1. POSTERS "Posters" is in an Alpha stage of development. (was excited to share with the community, but there will be some fun things to fix) It is an application written in Javascript which will connect to Emby and display the a poster for the media item currently playing on a device. This app is hosted in the web browser. It can be run on Raspberry Pi, stuck to the back of an old computer monitor, mounted on the Wall. It can be opened in Chrome using 'Kiosk' mode, and the display set to portrait. More Raspi integration terminal commands to come. (Anyone with Raspi knowledge? It's time to shine!) It uses https://animate.style/ animations, so there is, literally, an bunch of possibilities in layout, and animations to make the posters app unique to each users tastes... More to come. How to use: Unzip the folder to the desktop (anywhere) Right click "index.html" Open in your favorite browser Discover your server Login Start to play a movie on one of your emby ready devices Watch the posters come alive TODO: A Landscape view Configuration options Terminal Commands for Raspberry Pi (kiosk browser, start in portrait, load html on start) Fix multiple streams cause images to reload. Maybe this is a good thing, we just have to slow it down. Take advantage of all the different animations available in animatecss libraries November 3 1. Added full screen capabilities, 2. landscape mode, 3. hidden fly-out nav for future options. November 2 1. First Upload DOWNLOAD: PosterApp_v0.22.zip

  2. It's supposed to though, and I believe it is fully corrected in the beta server now.

  3. I really don't think this particular request is the right answer to your issue. The multi-version feature is designed for multiple qualities of the same item as opposed to different cuts. While it can be used for different cuts, it has these types of limitations. Instead of continuing to try and satisfy both of those situations with the same feature, I really think we need a different way to handle multiple cuts because marking one of these as "default" then negates some of the functionality that this feature is actually designed for.

  9. Text of this post also placed here @ebr I'm running 2.0.48g of Android TV client and just noticed that when the audio screensaver comes on, the current playing track coverart is displaying in the middle of the screen and remains there for all songs. The previous version was not like that. All coverart would go away and you were just left with the artist fanart/backdrops playing as a slideshow. Can you please place a toggle in the music playing settings so that we can turn album/cover art on or off? Either that or resize/move the album/cover art away from the middle of the screen while the track is playing? Prior to now it was darn near perfect but this cover art covering up the middle of the screen is killing the experience again. Please provide a toggle for those of us that do not prefer the cover art and only want to see the backdrop slideshow. If the toggle already exists, please inform or where it is to make the change. I can't seem to find it. I'd also like to take this moment to once again put in a request plug to institute music visualizations into Emby music play. Switching programs to bring up ProjectM as a separate app while playing music in Emby is inefficient, and inconvenient at the least and down right annoying at the very most. Please get native use of visualizations into at least the Android TV client as soon as possible. Thanks bunches

  10. Nothing wrong with that at all. Different tools and software and each has a place. They just have very different functionality is all.

  11. Hi Carlo, Thanks for the reply. I had missed the Emby uninstall, I just updated the existing package- once I did this it all worked fine. Thanks for the help! g

  12. I do. It's in the front iew plus support thread because I originally thought the issue was with that. Sorry for the double post but I didn't want to litter that thread too much with my server issues

  14. There is a throttle on the messages from the server. When there are two streams playing the images update really fast, and looks kinda bad. Unfortunately, the throttle also affects the loading of the whole thing. I have an idea. There is a secret popout menu on the side. If you click the top left of the screen it will fly out. There we can have a selection of the device to monitor for events. That way it is only a condition to check, and not the entire server worth of sessions.

  15. Yeah logo only right now. I am not great at layout stuff. I can code it once I see it, but I am not good at making it up. LOL. Interesting, I haven't tried tv shows yet.

  18. Your Request is in the wrong Section. You should better create this in the "Feature Requests" Section.

  19. I disagree in that correcting the certificate is definitely the best option going forward as there is no telling what other issues may crop up in the future from this. We will eventually get the ability to accept untrusted certs in the app but getting a proper trusted cert is still the best thing to do to avoid possible future issues.

  22. Cool. Yes I see what happens, now. thank you. I fixed it, and put a new one up at the top. Hint: Try playing a kids movie (Animation/Family... ex. Something from Disney/Pixar), and also try playing a movie meant for grown ups. The animations are different. LOL!

  23. MakeMKV is pretty fast doing this. It's not doing any converting of the media just restructuring it into an MKV file so no quality is lost. It's about as fast as your computer can read and write the file.

  24. @chef Just trying the latest version, but it seems to be taking a little longer to find what what's playing, and update, probably around 10 seconds. I'm sure your first release was quicker. Also, when you stop playing, it doesn't go to a blank screen.

  28. Ah I found it... Settings -> Media -> Videos -> Select first unwatched TV show season/episode. What a dummy... I nuked my settings when moving to Emby and didn't set that back how it was

  29. On Linux, it had always been required to install Intel Media SDK components manually to get QuickSync working. In turn we hadn't got much feedback on this. Since a few months only, we are including the Media SDK components as part of the Emby Server installation, and now everybody can get QuickSync easily. Once we are confident enough about it to work fine, I'm inclined to change the default to QSV in fact as it provides better performance and quality.

  30. Most people with Live TV would probably want to as well. We'll likely be looking for specific things for testing in the next round. Specific locations (because of the broadcast standards) as well as specific hardware that was added. But it's too early to tell right now.

  31. Wow considering I made the original post in 2019 with BDMV and .nfo issues, I am proud that I didn't give up. Thanks @Luke A special shout-out to @GrimReaper too who provided technical background, fact-checking, context-setting and the fair assessment of the balance between the rights of users and developers. I don't think I alone could have convinced Emby myself to make these changes @Painkiller8818 Thanks for being a part of pushing Emby over the edge too

  33. Depending on what the dev has to change and how destructive that change will have to be. It may be a issue of having to start over to reindex. But have to what for a comment from Luke.

  34. Hi, Web browser on PCs or mobile devices do not need a premier license or any type of purchase to playback media. They work fine and there is no compatibility issue. If you were using a Premiere Feature such as Live TV then it would require Emby Premiere as you already noted. Devices roll off the device list after about a week of non use so they don't count against your license forever. All clients work this way so if you replace any client or stop using it then it will shortly drop off and free that license spot for something else. Also if an app was purchased from an app store (ie Android Mobile) and connects to your Emby Server for normal playback that would not count against your license either because it was purchased. However if it uses a feature such as Live TV that is only Emby Premiere then it would count.

  35. Hi, sort of, yes. We don't make a copy of the original poster, but the output after resizing for Emby apps is cached. So that's why I'm saying yes, sort of, because if you use lots of different apps, it will still require multiple hits per poster to get cached versions created for all of the different sizes required. We plan to offer an option in future updates to cache a complete copy of the original file.

  36. +1 for this feature. I create at least 2 versions of a movie from my purchased DVDs, Blurays and UHDs ... DVD = 1 version = SD (480p AAC) Bluray = 2 versions = HD (720p AC3) + FHD (1080p DTS) 4K = 1 version = UHD (2160p Atmos) ... which are named as follows in the movie folder ... Movie Name (YEAR) - SD.mp4 Movie Name (YEAR) - HD.mp4 Movie Name (YEAR) - FHD.mkv Movie Name (YEAR) - UHD.mkv ... and which direct play on all my devices and for friends across the internet ... ... which is why I do it. It would be great, if I could specify the default version of 'HD' (if it exists) otherwise 'the only one version found'. Just thought - even better, would be the ability to specify in which order they are prioritised (based on the correct file naming convention). e.g. HD FHD SD UHD Please give it this idea some consideration and keep up the great work. Regards, Paully

  37. I think anyone who has used TiviMate or similar has gotten used to the way you can quickly switch groups to get just the channels of that group. I would love to see something like that implemented in Emby.

  38. I like the UI myself and think it works well and blends correctly with the rest of the system. I use other programs like TiviMate (and others) as can appreciate the way they handle groups and channels as well. But I use them differently. I will often load a full m3u file in these programs and often don't have very good guide data. But in Emby I use a curated list of channels that I'll actually use and have great guide data as I've mapped it all. With proper guide data I like Emby's guides much better. It would be nice if you could switch groups quickly however.

  39. Is there anyway to get the Apple TV app to display the movie Trailers section in with the associated movie and not a completely different section. The Web Browser and iOS have the trailers in the movie selection. Why can't the Apple TV app? Having the movie library trailers in a different area than the movies itself is self defeating and makes movie selection awkward.

  42. So in the Android emby app on my Nvidia shield I have thumbnails of the programs currently showing, but I can't get these thumbnails on the Android home screen. Can you guys implement that? Also preview of love channels from home screen would be awesome. Let me know if we can get any of that. Keep up the good work.

  43. I HAVE ACHIEVED SUCCESS!!! After some reading and tinkering my emby server is now behind cloudflare and all remote connections must be secure. Getting an SSL cert took some reading and a good bit of re-do's but I got it working. Next up is how to prevent connections from other countries. I don't know that I really need that, but now I have the tinkering bug.

  44. I think some options would be handy to apply at a library level, possibly even different options for when inside or outside of the network. For example my Samsung tv does not support DTS so it always defaults to 1080p (assuming the file only has DTS audio). I have no issues with it transcoding the audio as it is not resouce heavy and would like the default to be play the 4K film despite the fact you need to transcode the audio.......But obviously would not want this when outside the home network. Reading through the thread its clear there are so many use cases you are unlikely to get an automatic method that will please everyone, therefore some additional option choices may be the way forward?

  45. What works for me when changing a path to a library is the following: (I’m on Mac OS Catalina btw.) - copy the movie or tv series to their new directories - In the existing libraries add the new paths - let it finish scanning the libraries. - then delete the older paths in the libraries - then delete the old directories on your harddisk (you don’t need to wait for it to finish its library scan) Doing this prevents Emby from losing metadata or identifying info for the movies and tv shows in my experience.

  46. Step 0-keep your server private to begin with. Don't expose it to the internet at all. Don't invite your friends and family to use it. Instead offer to help them setup their own. --Luddite out...
