Hello all, sorry that we've been very quiet on this side of things but as you will see we have been very busy improving IntroSkip even more to bring a full featured and rounded plugin. I'll let you see if you can spot the upgrades We are still testing at the moment and then will do some polishing of the UI and performance improvements and then we will let it lose to you lot for a grueling testing phase before hopefully a final release.7 points

I confess I left emby for jellyfin for a few months, but all that did was make me appreciate how well written emby is. Jellyfin is an absolute alpha(beta at best) piece of software - it's a mess. Scanning on jellyfin was a mess. First it scanned too fast and missed things, then it scanned too slow and inaccurately trying to fix that. Not only that, but whenever you did scan, the rest of the app was rendered slow and useless... You couldnt even watch a video. Not to mention the random video stoping out of nowhere. It was nice looking though. While it's in my opinion that emby is one of the ugliest looking pieces of software out there, functionally emby does what they couldn't do effortlessly. It just works. It might not look great, but at least it works.1 point

I’m trying to do this using the api to automatically add people to my server not seeing an api call to do this, only the one to create a local user1 point

This is a simple request to state. But it might be harder to implement. I would like to have a synopsis popup when you hover over a movie's poster. That would reduce the need to click on a movie just to find what it is about and then having to hit back to go to another movie. I would also like this implemented in some way on all clients. It just would make browsing for and finding a movie to watch easier. There is another request for a popup that plays a trailer or animates a movie preview but I would not want that. Most trailers give a very distorted view of the movie and little real info on what the movie is actually about. I want information not fluff.1 point

Whatever answer you get here will be skewed by the fact that this is an Emby forum. I have seen very few posts praising Plex and many bashing them. In fact I agree that Emby is the superior product. I do not "use" remote access as I have no need but I have tested both Plex and Emby and found that neither is clearly "better." But that "better" is more in setup in situations like having a VPN that it is in actual operation. I did notice that the Plex clients were a little easier to get connected than Emby clients if the network or path was at all unstable but that difference was not great enough to matter much. Bottom line after my testing is that I decided that it would be better for me to use Emby but that is also skewed by the fact that I find, overall, that I greatly prefer using Emby. Using Emby is like driving the best of the 70s luxury cars while Plex is much like a Chevy Impala. Both do the job and both will get you from point A to B but Emby does it with style.1 point

No there is really no bulk editing options in Emby and what you are requesting has not come up before that I know of. So once you have enabled the option to create these you have to disable the option and manually delete these bif files. So should be easy enough to delete all *.bif files in \library, but I am not a Linux guy. In Windows I would probably do a blanket search for bif and select all and delete.1 point

I guess I missed the most important piece of information. I am running my server on a Windows 10 machine........ I did set up my permissions as per your image............ Will test. thanks1 point

It's already working it's magic I gave a lifetime service, I tried for 3 days in a row and here I found the solution Thank you very much for the interesting explanation In my case I have use port 2096 as the external port https I have port control1 point

I actually fancy the idea for Web App (while at the same time completely detest it in any TV UI, with things popping-up unless requested by keypress), condensed Overview on hover. I reckon anyone sitting in front of a PC is well accustomed to popups whenever mouse cursor is held long enough on certain spots, it could surely be applied here as well, without negatively impacting usability, quite the contrary.1 point

Thanks for the reactions, the anwer from FrostByte was the solution. Although i didn't have to do this the previous time (luck?) it's now installed and running. Thanks!1 point

Ok thanks, I checked a couple in the past and never transcoded....I'll do more extensive tests, that sound like a great idea Thanks again1 point

Hi, you want FULL not flexible for the SSL/TLS mode. You then need to download the cert information to use in order to establish that connection. Do you have a local reverse proxy installed? If not you need to use port 443 for the public port number for HTTPS in Emby Server with port 443 open on your router forwarded to the Emby Server IP and port 8920. 443->8920 You then need to convert the cert information you get from Cloudflare to PKCS #12 format and set a password. Add both the path to the PKCS #12 cert file in Emby Network settings along with entering the password. Set Secure connection mode: to Required. Sounds like a lot but not that hard when you break it down into the individual steps. If you get stuck, let us know and we can assist.1 point

Bert, nvme just pops in the bottom and gets recognized in storage manager in the slot after you power back up. it makes you initialize it then assign it to whatever volume you're trying to cache against. It's pretty straightforward especially if you only have 1. You can also erase it if it had come out of something else previously which completely resets and zero's it out1 point

Ok, I'm going to reproduce the event to time it for the logs and I'll see if I can find a little animated gif creator. Motion will be needed to show it not working. Should be fun! Gimme a bit.1 point

I just changed the metadata of the episode that have no description to English and United Stated and now i see the description. The strange thing is, that the other 9 episodes have English description to, whiteout changing anything. Edit: i did the same whit The Blacklist S9e1 and that did not work.1 point

Got it, permissions on EmbyServer folder where broken somehow. I fixed it with chown -r 7771 point

I will search but I think this has been brought up before as there is no ability to Multi-version and File stacking.1 point

i would recommend to use the tool mkvtoolnix and merge both files to one so you have a single file and don't have to bother about naming parts1 point

Chromium based browsers support the mkv container, and then on Windows, Edge also adds ac3 and hevc support to that, so that really helps it stand out as the best browser to play with.1 point

No. That wouldn't help. Using hardware acceleration on Android from a server application (running in the background) is normally not possible. We are using some tricks to get that working, but we regularly need to adapt to changes in the Android OS. It's not always straightforward like per major Android release (M, K, N, O, P, 10, 11). Sometimes it breaks even in-between. Our latest state of support goes over the whole range from Marshmallow up to Android 10 (the early releases of Android 10). Adding support for newer Android releases requires some work for us to do. Using an older version of Emby won't help. But what would work is when you could use and older release of Android...1 point

Hi I have planned to build a dedicated music server through emby on my android tv box. But for some reason, emby is not able to access sd card. I have gone through some related forums and found that the sd card needs to be formatted as internal storage. But i have plans to attach hard drive later and i think its a little tedious to format hard drive as internal storage. Fortunately, my android box is rooted and i think i can use this as advantage to bypass the restriction somehow. What u all think?1 point

I currently have exactly a Mac Mini that now is running MacOS, before I was using Bootcamp on the same computer. I'm very happy now running it on MacOS, but it does have a small tradeoff. With Windows, you get automatic updates. With MacOS you need to download each new version and install it. Other things to consider is that in Windows you need to use NTFS, but MacOS can only read NTFS, not write to it (there are ways around it). So for MacOS it would be better to use a true MacOS file system. I will suggest you run it in MacOS, as the OS and all drivers will be more up to date.1 point

Add the ability to start a show late, end a show early. ie: Late Night Talk Shows. I'm only interested in the interviews. Don't record the monologue (start :15 minutes late) nor the musical guest (end :15 minutes early) These shows are intentionally scheduled to start and stop at "the 07s". Having this new ability would eliminate some overlap errors with traditional start and stop times at "the 00s". Kevin1 point

Thanks @quickmic I tested the watch status on my upstairs box. I change 3 movies to unwatched in Kodi and 3 movies I “reset resume position”. I then checked them on the box downstairs and after sync, the ones that were marked unwatched were synced correctly but the others were still in the same resume position as previously.1 point

When you've spent half of your life on developing enterprise database applications, you can only laugh about some posters that are trying to make big speeches which are essentially only revealing that they don't have much clue about the subject - surely not the debt that db-agnostic development can put upon a project, especially when it hasn't been designed for this from the first place. SQLite, MySQL, Oracle, Informix, MsSql, Postgres - all of them have their own range of individual differences in SQL dialect, DB organization, supported data types, trigger capabilities, indexing capabilities, statistics generation, query optimization, query-precompilation, transaction capabilities and transaction behavior - just to name a few things. The bottom line: for a db-agnostic implementation, you either need to restrict your use of db features to a common subset or use specific coding to adapt to the differences. At the db side though, you really can't afford to have much differences. The current db structure is optimized for SQLite in a number of ways which won't work well with other dbs. This means, that the db structure needs to be reworked more than slightly. As a consequence, many of the specific optimizations that are used will get lost initially and new optimizations need to be worked out based on the new structure. Then there's the side of the code: Due to the differences between sql dialects and supported query features, you'll need some form of abstraction layer because with the minimum common subset you won't get very far. You can either use some existing middleware for this task like nHibernate or Entity Framework (as we're on .net) or you write your own abstraction layer. The problem with the latter is that it requires a lot of work and as it will grow over time and can never be at the same level of maturity like standard middleware; it would put a significant burden on future development as it would be required to test every future change we make against every database we support. Everybody who has worked with such middleware knows, that these often perform significantly worse than with custom sql, when used in the default way. It requires expertise and additional effort to achieve appropriate performance which in turn frequently requires additional changes to the database structure to accommodate to the way those middlewares are working. Finally there's another subject: DB schema updates. As the software evolves, the database needs to be changed and extended for new features, for which you need to have sql scripts, updating the db schema. These are hardly ever compatible between different db systems (besides the most basic operations), so you will need a separate update script for each db you want to support, each time you make a change. Even though EF has some capability to create these, it is not really a straightforward process and needs to be tested against all databases you want to support. Even if we would support MySql as a single alternative db, this would already cause significant technical debt on future development (remember, we're a very small team). As a matter for fact the initial outcome of doing a change like this would be: Bugs in all areas For the majority using SQLite For users trying the alternate dbs Decreased performance for the majority using SQLite We can't catch and optimize all users' scenarios during development => Regular users will complain Users trying alternate dbs will complain about performance partially being worse than with SQLite Let's just say: because we have focused on SQLite for optimizing and delivering the same performance as previously There's more to this, but that's for another day => Considering the mindset of some(!) users in this conversation, those complaints might be as unpleasant as their comments already made All-in-all, one might recognize that this won't be a recipe to make anybody happy, neither on our nor on the users' side. It will cause regressions and decreased performance and it will take a while to address all issues and catch up to the previous state in terms of quality and performance. As painful as it would be - it's still a reasonable step to make at some point in time, but there will have to be suitable and valuable reasons to justify going through this, which should ideally bring benefits to all Emby users. A few users in the forum who are posting blown-up offensive and insulting speeches won't be such reason, that's for sure. I have written this for all the others here, that were just kindly asking for that feature, in the hope to make the background and the decision making from our side a bit more transparent. For those who think otherwise, here's the usual and only answer they deserve: "Yes, it's planned for the future".1 point

So this probably not a fair comparison at this point in the Beta - you are the initial set of Beta Testers and this is not a 'Released' function within Emby. Having said that, in my pretty comprehensive testing thus far - accuracy has been almost perfect for the majority of shows. Emby Introskip does however already have some advantages over Plex, and that is the ability to modify the Intro times should you need to. It will also have another yet to be announced feature that I don't believe even Plex has yet. However, one major advantage Plex has over Emby is the actual integration of the Intro Data into the Clients - this is 'coming' but we need confidence that the Intro data gathered warrants integration into the Core system - this is where you all come in - so thanks for helping to test and validate we are on the correct path.1 point

So tell me a streeam platform that has this movie, so I don't need to download it to watch it, I want a platform to watch it, show me Sunshine 1973 What silly talk, legal or illegal, each person must take care of themselves, you don't need to keep telling anyone if it's illegal or illegal, the community is to help with problems and not to be judge of fate or attitudes of anyone There are no users here who need to be warned of what is legal or illegal, this doesn't make the community grow, it only causes silly and meaningless discussion, just answer and help with problems and don't be judging others, there are no children here to receive these kind of conversations thank you1 point

Hi, How's it going with the Spatial Audio Function? I'm a new Emby Premiere user from Plex. I think the easiest way to achieve this is to add an option to use "the native player" just like the one in the TV OS client, and another option "Convert all audio format to EAC3". Of course for the native player, the "MP4 container" my be required, which isn't difficult for Emby to convert. For all these conditions satisfied, Spatial Audio will work perfectly. Hope you could consider my suggestion to add these settings, as this is the only thing Emby is weaker than Plex for Apple users. I'm using Plex for Spatial Audio only. I think owing to the "native player", JellyFin supports spatial audio too. Thanks!1 point

Hi, i'm using this software on my main PC, but i do have a Jetson Nano that i'll be happy to use as a Media Server, but for now, it only does transcoding from the CPU, not the GPU, is there any plans to support this hardware?? (it have great response time, better that i expected, but the HW encoding is missing, and does not have a bad GPU)1 point

I do not want to see any "movie" type of animation on hover. However I would like something much simpler. I would lie to see the synopsis in a popup on hover over a movie tile. I will create a separate feature request for this as it is different. It might be good to, at some point, give a choice as to what you see by a setting. I find animations irritating but I really would like more info about a movie than just a title without having to click on the movie and then having to click back to go to the next movie.1 point

I think I'm interested in creating a emby connected service which looks at poster art and attempts to apply the effect posted above. I make no promises, but Im willing to try.1 point

We haven't committed to doing it at this point but, yes, it would have to be optional. Personally, I can't stand that the YT UI does this now.1 point
