For those running the Emby Server stable release, now you can install directly from Synology Package Center: This is the easiest possible method of installation. Please note the Synology Package Center version of Emby Server may sometimes run a little behind due to the Synology review process. For this reason we'll still be making downloads available on our website for manual installation: https://emby.media/download View the full article4 points

It should be titlesequence.db anyways that is a hack to save time during testing and if you don’t do it correctly then the db gets messed up. It’s basically on the user and nothing to do with us. stop scanning.... we will have a new release tomorrow and have picked up on some bugs and have spent the whole day fixing and testing. this will be a massive improvement to what everybody is experiencing currently. And i mean huge. stay tuned everyone2 points

Okay, I think I got this right. 1. shutdown emby server 2. create logs directory on destination (d: in my case) 3. Do these commands one at a time, double checking. I opened 2 command windows, type command in one window, verify in the other window. cd %APPDATA%\Emby-Server\programdata attrib -r logs move logs logs-old mklink /J logs d:logs move logs-old\*.* .\logs looks like this (for me) C:\Users\Emby\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata>dir Volume in drive C has no label. Terms used by 'TV's' were SD (anything less than 720p), HD (720p), Full-HD (1080p) and of course more recently UHD (4K) I'm not sure why we need resolution in this box tbh - for normal users the above description is imo more than sufficient. If you want the actual resolution (and are an admin) look in the media Info section.2 points

OMG it's working! Could have been the inotify patch, not sure but very happy! Thanks for chiming in guys2 points

AFAIK Most of Emby's logic for determining item resolution is based on width and not height, as it will usually be consistent as opposed to height, which varies to a greater or lesser degree. With that, I reckon anything below 1280w is considered NOT 720p, hence first lower value is 480p. And I think there is no need to expand those "categories" any more, it really doesn't matter is it 540p or 480p - it ain't HD, and further granulation is of limited value in today's media world.2 points

@Q-Droid I want to thank you for all your help on this project! I actually ended up going with your build, and it's perfect, I'm thrilled with it. Emby on windows barely scratches the cpu, 1-2% utilization LOL rarely runs above 1GHz and it's a 4 GHz cpu, so I have lots of spare resources. Very future proof. I'm also thrilled at how cool temperature everything runs. Unless I'm unlucky, I should get quite a few years out of this box. The only thing left is to decide which management options I'm going with. A lot of the free monitoring utilities include triggers and email capabilities, so I'll probably set them up to email me daily reports, and trigger special report the first sign of problems. Thanks again, I couldn't be more pleased. I highly recommend this hardware configuration to anyone looking for a NAS in the $400 ballpark.2 points

Please go here for info, bugs, issues and feature requests Been working on a plugin that bring the big screen experience and is user driven. Introducing Vantage Point Plugin for Emby. It can be downloaded in the Emby Server Plugin Catalogue. the order is pretty much set at the minute, But so far I’m happy with how it works. At the minute these are the following sections Personal Bumper Trivia Section intros, funnies and adds, select upto a max of 50 intros from your selected folder - good to use while your movie guests get drinks, popcorn, hotdogs etc, Personal Bumper Coming Soon Bumper coming attractions, select number of trailers to play from various sources. Courtesy intro - be quiet or mobile phones off. Only 1 is selected Personal Bumper audio codec intro matched to feature presentation audio track, only 1 is selected Feature Presentation Bumper countdown to feature presentation, only one is selected MPAA, BBFC, etc - certification screen which is matched to the MPAA rating tag in the nfo file. Feature Presentation Starts. For Bugs and Issues, please post them in the below thread Vantage Point - Big Screen Experience Intros - Plugins - Emby Community1 point

(edit: updated with latest hardware) Hi everyone, Okay, round two! My first NAS was a very inexpensive mini-pc with external hard disks. It works fine, actually. I just kind of wish all the hardware was integrated in one box, so.......... Introducing, the Emby 6000 !!! This baby is high-end with latest 10th generation Intel CPU and integrated Intel GPU, fast storage, fast memory, can hold 6 internal 3.5" drives, yet in a small mini-ITX metal chassis. Perfect for home and small businesses alike. Much cheaper than any commercial NAS and definitely a lot faster. more powerful, more advanced features, and highly upgrade-able. Check it out. Intel Pentium Gold G-6400 dual-core 4.0Ghz CPU, ASRock Motherboard, and Cooler: $198 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086MHSH2Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813157996?Item=N82E16813157996 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HJ3DNX2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 128GB NVMe SSD (Boot/System Storage) and 8GB memory (up to 64GB): $74 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CXC32T2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ARHBBPS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Compact metal (mini-ITX) Chassis and power supply: $120 https://www.newegg.com/black-fractal-design-node-304-mini-itx-tower/p/N82E16811352027?Item=N82E16811352027 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DTP6SLJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Note: This configuration can hold 6 internal 3.5" hard disk drives, but the motherboard only has 4x SATA ports. You can add more SATA ports with a pcie expansion card, but that will eat the 1 pcie slot, which I'd like to save either for a 10Gb Ethernet card, a tv tuner card, or who knows, maybe something else. We'll see. I already own 2x 10TB WD NAS drives, so I'll move one over to this box, reformat it to ZFS, then copy all my libraries over from my first Emby server to this new test server. For software, looking at the new TrueNAS Scale, which is basically FreeNAS ported to Debian w00h00!!!! I ordered all of the hardware, should be here by tomorrow! I'll be busy this weekend Cheers1 point

First of all thanks for continuing to help test ! The team have spent a lot of time on this to ensure that users of low powered device can use the plugin without crippling their systems - the memory overhead is now tiny vs what it was and speed of both FP and Detect has significantly improved. Yes, on low powered devices the tasks may take 'days' for large libraries but as these tasks can now run in the background, you can continue to use Emby as normal.1 point

2.1.0.0 When keeping the prior introsequence.db it fails. Renamed the *.db and started the scan again. Waiting for results so I'll be back tomorrow. I'm running this on an 8 Core /16 Thread Ryzen 3700x. What are those with a low-powered NAS to do? The scan will never finish, or at least it will seem that way.1 point

Nothing more for me for now. Don't know if Luke or ebr wants anything else. I just wanted to make sure I have the info to try and duplicate. You can save me from going back looking but is this channel 1080 or 720 or doesn't it matter?1 point

OK, so same issue using local IP/port where you don't get a transcode on the shared stream. Thanks, that simplifies testing!1 point

Make sure you enabled metadata saver not (only) reader in your library settings. Edit: Which AndroidTV box is that?1 point

I tried running the Emby server on a borrowed laptop with a faster processor - same setup otherwise. Everything worked perfectly - it could record two HD channels and watch one of them from the start, no problems. So I think that is the problem. Thanks for your help.1 point

The IP address 127.0.0.1 is a special-purpose IPv4 address and is called the localhost or loopback address. All computers use this address as their own, but it doesn't let computers communicate with other devices as a real IP address does. So you can think of it as a special purpose, non-routable IP address.1 point

No I didn't use the backup routine. Thought about it though. I just did the manual move of programdata/*1 point

My bad, never test when are tired. My cell phone was locally connected to my wifi, so instead of connecting over the WAN, I was connecting locally, hence no password requirement LOL! That sure woke me up I already edited that post hah1 point

True but you have your odd resolutions like 1200x720 that is 720p and 1440x1080 is 1080p. We just need to document the thresholds per value.1 point

You want insanity? I've had this same Debian install since Debian 5 Lenny. I wrote a script many years ago to take daily backups as I've spent 100's and 100's of hours getting this install just right. It's made it through 6 dist-upgrades, and 5 machines (3 desktops, and 2 R710 Poweredge servers). Same install, and never had an issue. It's had KDE, Gnome, and now Cinnamon as a desktop (not because I need or use them, but just because I can). I've got a flaky drive in my current R710, I've got 3 R710's and about 30 drives between them so when I finally get around to it it's going to get it's 6th machine migration. Needless to say, I'm a lifetime fan of Debian. I've used others in the past and had multiple duel-boot systems. My only complaint is KDE became craptastic and I've never been able to fully uninstall it, and it makes Cinnamon flakey. The left over parts that won't uninstall screw with it. But that's ok, I use it like once every 2-3 years. LOL Gnome left pieces too, but they play nicer. The ultimate install for me would be a fresh Debian install with Cinnamon as the only desktop.1 point

Ideally I think these thresholds should be spelled out in a KB or guide, for how often it comes up for Server or CoverArt. As there appears to be 5 values. SD 480 720 1080 4K1 point

You'll have to ask whoever is behind that ip address. If you've ever looked at your phone call log and wondered why some number you didn't recognize was there, it's the same thing.1 point

Hi, you are going to have to set the proxy up to forward the origin IP as part of the header. Emby will be able to use that to know the IP the client came from. Then it will appear as a remote IP. See if this page is any help to you: https://www.haproxy.com/blog/preserve-source-ip-address-despite-reverse-proxies/1 point

Can't say without logs. It could be a bunch of things including any changes to Cloudflare since you're running through it. You could try the web browser on the TV to see if you can connect that way. If you retry when you get that message does it work?1 point

Yea, windows is pretty flexible with symbolic links. You can do soft, hard or junctions. I used to use them a lot in library management when I would run both Plex and Emby together as I could make the media folders look different to each platform. IE. I could take Plex's BIF files moved to the media folder and then linked back so Plex didn't know they were moved. Other things like that too.1 point

I just want to express my thanks for such a fast and enthusiastic development process - much appreciated1 point

If you are desperate to move them, then you can use a symbolic link to point them to wherever you like ..1 point

Just a heads up regarding this issue. I was able to find a fix that works for the time being by downgrading the HEVC Video Extensions from Device Manufacturer version to 1.0.31823. This restores proper playback of HEVC content in Edge. Turn hardware acceleration back on if you disable it, it is required to play HEVC files. I found this information from this post. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/discussions/hevc-main-10-video-playback-is-heavily-stuttering/m-p/2443434/highlight/true#M480901 point

v3.0.5.2 is now live on the catalog, please update to this version to gain this new functionality. Let me know if you come across any issues. Remember also, when you 'like/favorite' an entire TV series, season, etc (where there is a group of media items within it), you'll get an individual onUserDataSaved call for each episode in that series/season/etc1 point

I just wish it was grandma, she wouldn't suck my blood on a straw but go with whatever I set-up. Yeah, I get you, it is kinda can of worms, but as my initial (and oh so mistakenly expressed) reaction was: "Wtf, how many RomComs could there be anyway, 20-30-50 in total?", I was profoundly enlightened and nowdays I can proudly call myself Hallmark Productions connoisseur.1 point
