  2. I believe a nice added feature is to have the ability to timeout partially watched shows automatically. Being able to set an expiration of resume point on titles. My kids love to watch videos but never seem to finish then, so they have a ton of titles that have resume points. What would be a nice addon would be the ability to either set the resume point to expire after X number of days. By default the resume point will be kept indefinitely. Adding in, let's say, "30" will then set all the resume points last set 30 days ago to expire and the resume point data be removed from the title for the user. This should be a global setting that applies to all users in the system. Wording of the feature can be different. Thanks, \ above1

  3. Today's Windows beta (4.7.0.7) has an experimental AC-4 decoder included. Disclaimer This is provided as-is. It may work or not. It may work well or produce glitches and artifacts. When it doesn't work, there won't be much we can do about it. I'm looking forward to your experience, though! sw

  5. Thank you for the assistance. I will probably just move back to he NUC as soon as I get the part that I need to replace as I didn't have issues there. Was just trying to see if this would be a better alternative. Thanks again for everyone's help!!

  6. Could we have the option to adjust how long media stays in the 'Continue Watching' section? For example if it is set at 7 days, anything still in 'Continue Watching' and hasn't changed over 7 days is removed. Is that possible? I've got many many things in my 'Continue Watching' and iwould be great to make it useful and not over cluttered with irelevent media. Thanks

  8. Okay, so that tells us my hypothesis was correct. We have it on our list to try and make Exo more resilient to "bad" file structures like this. Google has no interest in it. Their attitude is that they shouldn't have to work around bad inputs. We need to try to be a little more forgiving than that.

  9. When the Emby server is exposed to the public net, then every item image is accessible without authentication or api key! This is especially critical if someone has private photo libraries in Emby. With a simple brute force attack to http://{public domain}/emby/items/{increment number}/images/primary it's possible to compromise every piece of someone's private life. This has to be fixed immediately!

  10. So the Steam Deck is pretty hyped now. They showed it as a streaming device in some videos today. It's powerful enough to play pretty much anything directly, heck it could even be a server quite easily with it's specs. A lot of people got to talking and now people are saying Plex is going to release a version to Steam so that it'd just run through that and play onto SteamOS without the user having to muck about outside of Valves ecosystem. There are plenty of free tools / video players in Steams Software section, so it'd be a pretty neat little thing I imagine.

  11. I am looking to see if a SAML2/OAuth plugin is something others would use. I myself would love this feature to share Emby publicly with family members and friend and worry a little less about insecure passwords that some may use. I personally am a big advocate for security as I work in IT and see how a lack of good security can cause havoc. I love Okta and what it offers. Anyone can sign up and use it for free under 1000 users if you sign up as a Developer. That is just plain awesome. Let's see who else is interested. I am excited to find out! Thanks

  12. Hey, Just a quick question of VVC Codec (H.266) to see if this will be support by emby once they have released it fully to the public. VVC was released at the end of 2020 for testing on OTT companies etc and hopefully should be releasing it to the public domain fairly soon. of course there soon may be 2 years but would just like to ask if its something that is possible. EDIT : If you would also like to have this improvement/feature please give a like on this post so that the devs can see how much/little demand it currently has Thanks guys

  13. It would be awesome if we could choose a list view (like what is available on the web viewer) for the display on Roku and other devices. Many of the videos in my collection start with very similar words and it is hard to tell what is what when the rest of the title gets cut off. A list view (like what is available on the web viewer) to be able to see the entire or at least more of the title would be awesome. Thank you!

  14. i have thousands of obscure things... lots of shorts, things not on imdb, alternate versions of things etc.. and every time i have to move and redo my setup/re-import everything i have to spend days identifying things in my movie library... but there is no real way to do it... have to manually add an image and name etc... with plex i can just click one button UNMATCH and it removes the usually misidentified match/metadata and replaces it with the thumbnail and filename. just finding the mismatched items that aren't on imdb is a full days work ; ) : ( i'd kill for an unmatch button : )

  15. Please read this post first. I was wondering if it would be possible to add something that would allow you to skip the intro to shows automatically while binge watching. When watching Netflix it does this for some shows, and im not sure if thats a feature of Netflix itself or a Chrome extension i use called "Flix Assist" but it would be a nice feature to have within Emby as well. and possibly even create a custom timed skip for specific shows

  16. I see a lot of people asking about Nvidia support and Quicksync, but does Emby support AMD's VCE for accelerating transcoding of media files? I am going to be putting a server together when this tax refund comes through and would like to be able to get a GPU that could support 6-8 streams of 1080p and a stream or two of 4k as I am upgrading one of my projectors to 4k soon. Nvidia drivers dont allow more than 2 streams, so it is between AMD and Intel QuickSync. Id prefer to build a server with a Ryzen+ processor when they come out in a couple months, which obviously wont have QuickSync capability. So would I be able to use an RX480 I have laying around for GPU acceleration? Or is there no support for AMD cards at all? Or if there is no support for AMD graphics cards, does anyone estimate that an 8 core/16 thread 4GHz processor may be able to do that many streams on the CPU?

  17. Yes, I understand that the library selector feature itself is not the solution to your request. But it does need to be implemented before I can add the feature you're requesting.

  18. Good idea. To add on to this, it would be nice to have it as a library-specific setting.

  25. @cayars@Luke Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. In the interest of learning more about how this works, on Sunday I cleanly uninstalled the whole program. Once it was reinstalled I used the m3u file directly from my hard drive instead of going through the Internet. I did not install the next PVR plugin as I realized that I didn't actually have that program. Before, I was editing the channels in the master channel list in the server admin screen. I soon discovered the capability of editing the metadata in the live TV channels screen. With that set to "group channels by tag" the number of channels dealt with at one time went down considerably. What a major difference in the performance! Channels now open up for editing within a very few seconds and save instantly. Using the master channel list in admin as I was, I could really see things bogging down. I would often wait for over a minute for that whole list to repaint after saving an edited channel. That was definitely working things too hard. I have a feeling something had gotten corrupted in that process. It looks like I've also solved the problem of the switching icons. I started out using the IPTV provider's original guide, then switching to various sources of Emby guide data for the various groups (tags). Any channel which has a totally wrong icon is one that wasn't included in the provider's epg. As I would add sources Emby would automap those channels to whichever source was next installed. That mapping was frequently wrong. This is not Emby's fault. I place the blame for that with the IPTV providers and the inconsistent way in which they set up and document their channels. Most IPTV services (and channel providers) suffer from horrendous clerical ability. They have far too much else on their plate. Necro IPTV is actually the best I've ever seen for providing an EPG. They go above and beyond with their logos as well. And shopping for the very best sources. I can also see that when Emby automaps a channel to the Emby data it brings in the full set of logos for light screen, dark screen, etc. I'm going to work with this some more. I'm going to bet that switching an incorrect channel to "no epg source", saving it and then mapping it to the proper source will bring in the correct icons. I am working with over 2000 channels here and using 24 EPG sources currently. Emby is now performing absolutely consistently every time I edit and save a channel. @Luke I'm just blown away by what you've done with this. Once you get your head around the concept, Emby is actually far easier and vastly more versatile than the editing m3u files and the like. You've just really thought of everything. I love being able to adjust everything in Emby right on the screen as things will finally look. If you'd like a channel to show in both movies and entertainment, just add a tag. Absolutely brilliant!!! Images for upcoming programs and the like is mere icing on an already supremely rich cake. A major tip of my hat to you and your team, Sir. Thanks so much again for being here for me guys.

  29. Hi @quickmic, After being inactive for a while about the distributed TV shows issue, since @wanderjarra was reporting test results similar to mine, I'm back with some feedback. First of all, thank you for what you did. Most of the distributed TV shows are fine now, thanks to your recent fixes (since 6.0.3 build 100 (ex15) I think). Right now, I'm using 6.0.3 build 141 (ex20), and I still have one small issue, which is probably an edge: A show that has a season split in 2 different locations. /media /anime /Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken /Season 0 /Season 1 /Season 2 (contains first part of S2, episodes 1 to 12) /anime-airing /Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken /Season 2 (contains second part of S2, episodes 13 and more, currently airing) Here's a kodi.log from a run on a test environment. (Clean install of Kodi > Installed the add-on > Noticed a sync issue > Reset kodi database & plugin settings > Get the log from the complete sync of my Anime library) I noticed something strange: on that Windows test environment it breaks the sync process, but on my Nvidia Shield the sync seems to continue (and the second half of that Season 2 is just ignored). I hope that this is detailed enough to help you understand the issue.

  30. Hi, this sounds like you have a game pad/joy stick/game controller connected to the PC. Unplug it and see if the problem goes away. If so try updating the drivers for the controller.

  38. Doing at the Android level would be cool though because then it would cover all bases. This would be an interesting project for someone who wants to dabble in Android and Emby API development.

  40. There are no hard limits.
    1 point
  41. Of course, I was referring to any strict limitations (e.g., NVidia cards having a two stream limit, no matter the size of the workload). I haven't heard of any such limits on AMD GPUs, wanted to confirm is all.
    1 point
  42. Very difficult to judge stream limitations because it depends on the original files codec and bitrate, the target bitrate, etc. All I can say is I use a RX570 and I've seen stuff like transcoding at 140fps... And HEVC 10bit decoding doesn't work. Probably will with the new Navi cards.

  43. Thanks Luke, I came across this wiki page and the fact that the Linux Radeon drivers are listed also makes me think this will work. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Hardware-Acceleration-on-Linux#hardware-requirements-1 If anyone has any experience using this with any RX 4xx or 5xx series GPUs, I'd be curious about steam limitations.

  44. Hi, yes it has changed. Support is quite a bit better now: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-447-announcing-emby-server-40/

  45. I'm in a similar situation today and am wondering if the Emby hardware transcoding support situation for discrete AMD GPUs has changed in the last year? Has anyone had any luck with VAAPI or VCE hardware transcoding with a Radeon 5xx series card? Are there any steam limitations like with consumer nvidia cards?
    1 point
  46. Not at this time but it's possible for the future. We use ffmpeg so it all depends on what that supports. Thanks !
