Hi, I’d love that audio and subtitles choice would be saved per show, according to what you select on the last episode you watched. The main audio/subtitles parameters is a good point but there are many cases it is not enough and you need to adjust audio and subtitles at the beginning of every episodes. For example i like to watch Casa de Pale in Spanish with french subtitles, The Big Bang Theory in English with french subtitles, French TV shows in french without subtitles, ....

I think they may not have seen it before because not very many users do this, but a url-only nfo is supported.

Ok so my request is to be able to search each library separate as it stands when you search it searches everything, and if like me you have 30k music tracks 10k books/comics 10k episodes and 10k+ movies, searching is slow so is it possible to have a search section for each library individually

I wanted a colorful, but minimalist set of Library and Genre icons for when I'm using Emby on Roku, and something that stood out dramatically from the movie posters and thumbs. Here's what I did for the My Media set. Pretty simple suggestion. I have multiple users for my Emby server. If I want to do continuous maintenance on the media, I have to tell everyone. some of them are harder to reach than others ( i.e. no Facebook or Skype chat etc. ) It would be great if say... on the admin panel, I could hit a check box that enables 'maintenance mode', where the server still runs does everything as normal, but instead of the login screen it displays a maintenance page saying the server is unavailable. Even better if I were able to directly put a reason in a text box that would then display on the login screen as well. Not really sure what others would think of this, but for me it would be quite helpful. mostly if I want to make sure no one is trying to access content I know won't work until I've done a full library scan again. I know the answer to this is probably going to be no..... ...but.... A standalone music player for iOS would be very useful. Trying to get the wife to use the full client for music is just not happening. Something that was simple and intuative and quick and easy to use would be killer, something like spotify. The simpler the app is to use, the better. If all else fails, I have a project that's on the back burner that was an iOS music player for subsonic, but I could always target emby as well. It had an spotify a-like interface. Screenshot from as far as I got with the UI, it was playing back music from the server.

Hi Guys, I have an Amazon Fire Stick 4K on which I've installed Kodi 19.1 and the video Emby next-gen-6.0.2-build 110 (ex14) plugin. The connection wizard appears and I manually enter my Emby server and login details. The sync completes and playback works as expected. The problem: If I close Kodi then open it again (or disable and re-enable the plugin) the connection wizard re-appears and I have to enter the details again. The only information/error message I have managed to get on screen is if I configure the plugin, select "Add user to session", top right appears Emby for Kodi Your access to Emby is restricted. At least one rule has to return some data now otherwise nothing will be returned. What you've used in previous versions was never meant to work that way. That's why earlier versions had the rule "Release date greater than", prefilled with 1900. This is what you need to do now, or runtime.

We do support url only nfo's, although I've never seen an nfo with two urls before so perhaps that is the issue?

I have used Yatse for probably 10 years now if not longer as my Kodi remote. I honestly had no idea it can connect to Emby or other stuff. I should really look over everything it does these days, it's always been such a great app.

Right what's probably happening is the data changes and that causes the server to see them as brand new channels.

@Luke, The plugin had a lot of repetitive code because movies where added after the fact, and they had a lot of the same options as the Episodes. What I did was create in Interface called IOrganizationOptions which both option classes can implement. Now we use the Interface in the function params, and pass in the appropriate option... We can remove a couple hundred lines of repeating code. S.O.L.I.D! Liskov would be proud. LOL!

For info this is called URL only nfo and has been supported officially in Kodi for so long you can practically say "always". Emby also supports reading this format as do most other media manager and interfaces. None that I know support writing this format. Of note however from the Kodi spec `If there is more than one URL in the file only the first URL will be used.`

Its all good now, not sure what changed but works now, the wife never restarted the server either, oh well, sorry for jumping the gun

Emby does not use that url format at all, don't believe it is in Kodi nfo standards anywhere either. Overall you would be better off turning off Radarr metadata creation as all it is doing is creating issue in what it is providing.

Indeed. There is missing "Image Size" and "Image Type" as well as the entire filter menu is missing on the Roku. We will get there. I love the future. Okay, a little further along now. Here in my Auto organize source folder I have two ripped movies (they are fake movie files created for testing). In the movie "Wall-E" there are subtitle files, and in the other movie "The Greatest Showman", there are no subtitles. Once I choose to identify the fake movie "Wall-E" I am given a choice to move the subtitle files. However, this option does not appear, when no subtitles are available: Here is what I learned. When you acquire items that contain subtitle files, they will be (most likely) place in a parent folder. Items that don't contain subtitle files may or may not be in a parent folder. This makes it easy to simply place the entire parent folder into the the plugins source folder when it has accompanying subtitle files. I strongly believe that it is best practice to place all items in parent folders, inside the plugins source folder.

I forgot about that view since I always use the Library view because I like the episodes grouped by series. In the Library view they are sorted in the way I described and there seems to be no way to change it. But I will just use the Recordings view for the Olympics. Thanks.

Emby no longer works with ebay server. You need to load the correct server first.

Agree, but trailers still work in ET for Android app on my Shield so the two apps must be handling trailers differently and the Google Android changes only caused ATV to stop working

The GPU is passed through to VM when VM is started, so Emby won't be able to use it. When off, it can be assiged to Emby. Though I was told that it's not safe to do this, ask when 1 is started while the hardware is being used, it will cause some errors. I don't want to try

but due to emby not supporting a real DB you cant easily sync those two servers while both are running. and without the ability to cluster transcodes you have to start over again. So there is no automated re-directing without loosing play stats, login status, play position (mid movie), new users added, removed, well any db change. So at this time full hot standby is not possible for full redundancy.. Though a cold standby in emergencies is great.

But Z: is not a valid path on your QNAP, right? Z:\ is a windows path, that's not going to work on QNAP. What is the path to the folder when accessing from QNAP?

This is complicated to setup as you have to put a bit of time in to the setup but it's well worth the learning curve as it's a "Swiss Army Knife" of processing you can do to your media. What it can do is give you consistent media. By this I mean it can do things like remove audio tracks not in the language you want to save. It can remove subs that you don't need. It can pull internal subrips and make SRT from them. It can create 2 channel default audio tracks (playback on any device). You can setup video codecs to keep or a video codec to convert to. That is just scratching the surface of what it can do. Like I said it does have a bit of a learning curve but once you've got it setup you will wonder how you ever got by without it. Currently not automatically. You have to predefine a channel with suitable content by either genres or tags and enable it manually when the time is ready.

In theory if you have no customized paths and library paths are the same when you change machines, you can copy the entire Emby-Server folder from one machine to the other.

July 2021 and we definitely need a list view! I can't believe it's not a thing but is for the mobile version. I understand people want to view box art for movies/tv shows but for my own home recordings and videos which don't have any box art, a list view so I can see the full folder name would be nice. Its damn near impossible finding my personal home videos without clicking on it to find out what file it is. This option is needed!

We are not talking about decision making at the point the video is created the first time! The video already exists after some initial encoding. Every further transcoding of the same video means loss in quality, especially when transcoding to lower resolutions and/or lower bitrates. Of course if you watch that 1080p video on a 5 inch, 720p smartphone display you won't notice the quality decrease. But it still happens. That's a fact!

An update on the current state of Iconic development: I've been working on making the configuration Library driven. That means the ability to have different badge styling and rules per library and the ability to activate/deactivate per library. Right now, movie and TV Show type libraries are functional. Speaking of TV shows, initial support for Show level icons is functional. I still need to build a UI mechanism to filter the New Rule list based on type. Once that's in place, I'll be working on adding support for Collections, TV Seasons, and TV Episodes: As soon as all that's finished and mostly bug free, I'll package these features up as a new release. After that, there will be a sincere attempt to implement the custom font set idea. I can't offer any specific time frame for delivering any of this, but it is happening.

I just took the leap and removed Subsonic from my server. Subsonic did exactly what I wanted for my music collection. Great, simple, webUI for the desktop. Fantastic mobile experience with DSub app. Unfortunately these projects are seeing very little love from their maintainers. So I decided to move my music library to Emby. This also frees up 500MB+ RAM on my server. I feel like the Emby apps could be usable to play music with some minor modification. Typically when I listen to music, I add to the play queue as I am listening. I build up a play queue over the course of a day or even week. Then, after much listening and re-arranging, I would maybe save it as a playlist. This just feels more natural. I've been doing this since Winamp. Unfortunately, emby keeps overwriting my play queue. If I click the wrong album image or click on a song in my library by mistake.. BOOM! my play queue is gone! And it takes effort to add songs to the play queue. There's a shortcut button for adding a song to a playlist, but to add to the play queue, you need at least 2 clicks. Then there is a notification that pops up for a few seconds telling me that it was added to the queue. This all makes building up a play queue quite cumbersome and frustrating. For now I will be using Yaste as my mobile app. It allows you to set the default click action as "add to play queue". For desktop, there is a Jellyfin project that looks promising but it is still kind of rough around the edges. It seems to work with Emby as well: https://gitlab.com/tonyfinn/preserve It would be really nice to have a better music queue experience in the main emby app though.
