I can't say yet, definitively, but so far, yeah. I went all out and backed up my data, nuked my entire programdata folder and rebuilt my library and restored the user information.2 points

This would not have happened if the connection to Emby had been to http://127.0.0.1:8086 as recommended: location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8096; ## Enter the IP and port of the backend emby server here.2 points

They do not want help. They are required to complete the registration so they can join the other servers via Emby Connect. Those other servers are.. for the most part.. Questionable. They are in PlexShares and EmbyShares on Reddit. Some are free, some cost money, but most every single one wants the user to join them with Emby Connect. I noticed this. Then certainly some person has sent DMCA request to the Emby forum incorrectly or to Emby.media website. When it is the forward facing IP address with infringing content they want to send the DMCA or ABUSE complaints to. Instead Emby must weed through those, sort them out, and inform those guys. They are blaming the Casino because there are Drug Dealers inside selling drugs. It happens. You cannot weed out society and which technology is good or bad. Is a Casino really good? Yes because it offers choice for people to dream. Dreaming is what Emby is all about. Therefore some people dream Emby can get them media. When they find out, ohh.. Its a scam. Some guy was doing illegal stuff and illegally implicate Emby and etc. They then politely ask to remove their account. You must assume all people are good. With good intentions all the time. They are misled. Lied to. Hoodwinked. We have to set them straight. Unbend their crooked arrow so they can shoot straight. We are the shepherds of the flock. We must always watch out for Wolves in sheeps clothing. They will eat the chickens and decimate the flock. Meaning they are no good swindlers and crooks and to prevent that we must help people remove their accounts. Those people are good who ask for accounts removed. They could actually help point to who is sending them here. A breadcrumb trail back to how they got here. They don't just google. It is a trap lately to use Emby for this purpose and we must thwart it.2 points

As I mention in a related post, I love the additional subfolders for Movie Extras (eg, Shorts, Scenes, Interviews, etc.)! It would be awesome to extend this functionality to TV Series as well. Specifically to add support for many/all of the same folders supported for Movie Extras, eg, extras specials shorts scenes featurettes behind the scenes deleted scenes interviews trailers As well as any additional folders that get added in the future (eg, hopefully Galleries). Support Placement of "Extras" Folders Within Each Season Folder, Plus A Naming Scheme to Link A Particular Extras Folder with a Specific Episode (eg, "\Season 1\E1 - Deleted Scenes\" for episode 1 deleted scenes): I want to clarify that it would be great if these various "extras" folder types could reside within each Season folder. So for example, within a Season 1 folder we could then have an "Extras" folder, a "Deleted Scenes" folder, a "Featurettes" folder, etc. And furthermore, that we could designate a particular folder to refer to a specific episode (eg, "\Season 1\E1 - Deleted Scenes\" for episode 1 deleted scenes). See more below, particularly why I think this would be so useful: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/55915-emby-server-theater-additional-extrasspecial-folder-types-for-tv-series-similar-to-movies/&do=findComment&comment=587195 Thanks for your consideration! PS - If this is something you might like to see implemented, be sure to "Like" this top/first post (as well as any subsequent posts in this thread that highlight particular aspects of what you are interested in) -- "Liking" the top/first post helps the Devs to know how much interest there is in a given Feature Request.1 point

Dont know if this was already posted. For example something like the capture below at least for ratings, to use omdb or another scraper as first priority for this field, and similar for tvshows with the available scrapers for that library type of course. Also It would be nice and handy to have some language options per field, at least for Title, Tagline, Plot, Episode Title, Episode Plot and Genre fields. Handy if you want to have your tagline/plot/episode-title/episode-plot in spanish for example or your native speaking language but want to use the title of the movie or tvshow in english for english movies, or the title on the native language of the movie (spanish, french, german, etc). With the current setting you get absolutes, english: everything english, spanish: everything spanish. And would be nice to apply this language options to images too. I scrape my data with TMM before adding it to emby to have this type of settings, but I would be really good if emby could handle some of this variables. Update: Also, give the option for "None" to skip scraping for this field and "NFO Only" as @picotrain1 suggested.1 point

Ah ok thank you. I am not adept at coding by any stretch of the imagination. If we could tick a box to say yes or no to expand by default that would be great. I think (personally) it looks untidy having it expanded by default. But that's my OCD issue lol. Appreciate the quick response H2P. Cheers Mark.1 point

What are the bitrates of the Direct playing items? But if Direct Play is having issue it sounds like a bandwidth or network issue. Have you tried a lower playback quality to see if a transcode plays?1 point

I switched out the script provided by Cayars and there is no more character issues. This script will run as stated without issue. Enjoy the tutorial. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1JLqn_Ix7fnHSQscW8LhIuoh8qn2i5ZI2?usp=sharing1 point

Just to add a bit to the info in this thread. I have noticed that I get the jump to start when, as an example, I choose to edit a particular movie by say changing the poster. After changing the poster the main screen does not update with the new poster (but it will in the next few minutes) I then scroll down the library further. I believe that, when the update actually happens, that is when the screen resets to the first item. I have seen the behavior at other times but the refresh after an update that changes the main screen is the only one where I am pretty sure what is happening.1 point

Thanks! I do understand I can click on the program, but then I still need to sort through all of the airings manually, which is what I am trying to avoid as the search function works very quickly.1 point

This really is the only process to migrate. Unfortunately it's not easy to automate as DSM 7 puts new restriction of what apps and installation programs can do. What I would suggest is just try following the instructions and if you hit any snags post in the forums or send me a PM and can certainly give you a hand with it.1 point

Understood. However, I was hoping to see the upcoming broadcast instances of episodes which match my search as in Emby 4.5. Take a look at the posts above where I explained my preference & reasoning. I appreciate that may not be everyone's preference, but in the current state it is very cumbersome to find the upcoming airing of a specific episode when there are a lot of airings of the show. A show which is in syndication and broadcast on multiple channels can have hundreds of airings in the next two weeks. This means I need to scroll through the list & manually review hundreds of entries to locate the instance I wish to record. In Emby 4.5 I could find the episode in seconds using the search function. Now it can take several minutes.1 point

The issue also may not be the machine but rather something blocking the emby server process from sending those outgoing communications.1 point

.. so does PX and JF run in the same Synology NAS ? You need to ensure that Synology NAS has access to the site as that's what the log is showing. Do you have any other s/w running on the NAS - perhaps a f/w or AV scanner than is blocking the connection ? You may have exceptions in there for PX and JF but not emby ? Just thinking out loud here. I seem to recall there was another post with a similar issue and that turned out to be a 3rd party piece of s/w blocking access - may be worth a search.1 point

I thought about switching to jellyfin but don't think I ever will. Only reason I would if a feature never works or Emby goes away. That will never happen though.1 point

Shutdown Emby Server. Your library info will be stored in a path similar to this on Windows. Change the bolded text to be the username Emby runs under. This will be in a different location on platforms other than Windows but will still give you idea how to find it. C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\root\default You will see a folder for each Library on your system. Here is an example: Edit the folder that matches the library you want to edit and in that folder will be options.xml. Use a notepad/text editor program to edit this file. Look for something similar to <SampleIgnoreSize>314572800</SampleIgnoreSize> Change it to <SampleIgnoreSize>0</SampleIgnoreSize> Save the file and restart Emby. You will then likely want to do a full library scan.1 point

Good morning Happy2Play... I added the ability to edit genres just like you edit tags. When you select items the Tag menu will appear as usual, but now on the top line there is an "edit genres" button. Click on it and the edit genre menu will appear. I have only done a few tests so it's up to you to test this feature Let me know your results or suggested improvements. Vic emby-tag-tool-08.html1 point

Just FYI we did this a long time ago and had to stop due to the fact that logos vary so much in their shape. With some logos it looks really good (basically one-line landscape ones) but with others it looks really bad (larger square ones).1 point

Thank you for asking me if I can ping the TV. I found out that the TV was not reachable. I switched to wifi, and it works not. I will research why this happened and can it be fixed.1 point

Hi, The best thing would be to spend the time to separate the media into actual movies vs shorts and have these in two different libraries in Emby. This way you could have two different library types with adjustments to metadata for each library.1 point

I don't know how wma tagging compares to other formats their are WM/ vs just Year or originalyear. So ideally we need a list of tags read by Emby per format.1 point

Not exactly, Emby Connect exists to allow a user to easily find and use a server without having to know its IP address, this simplifies the "sharing" process and allows user to more easily access their home emby server remotely when they are on the road using mobile or when they want to share their collection with their family/friends. I think there are still some thing that can be done without dropping the Emby Connect system completely, for example these are the steps a user can take to find Emby: Google Emaby Media Streaming Select the first result, Select Sign in on the home page Read that you can stream media, the second download point looks like a suggestion, user thinks I just want to stream media and clicks next New user signs up Sees that this is not what they expected, cant just stream media and then asks for their account to be deleted. This is not even taking into account the number of users as you have pointed out that are directed to create accounts from reddit groups etc. At a minimum for info on the above screens that explain you need your own media or access to a private server, Emby is not a streaming media service.1 point

Are you redacting an IP addr or domain name for the WAN access in that image? You want a domain name that matches the certificate subject (CN) or SAN. Otherwise what is sent to client apps as a preferred connection link will not match the certificate name presented during handshake. It's the "External domain:" field in the Network settings.1 point
-
Sounds like it. However, from the permissions tab you have to click the drop down arrow and select "System internal user" and give the new internal emby user read/write permissions. Just a small typo1 point

@cayars is the issue this step?1 point

This gets asked for all the time. It's completely impossible and a terrible idea. If you want obnoxious streaming services cluttering your screen, get Plex. Emby is for your own content.1 point

Does that genre appear in MUSIC or MOVIES? Does it have content in that section? That might be what this is.1 point

It depends on how you manage metadata. If emby reads from nfos and/or write to nfo files, you have to manage which movies have the set tag, and remove when you dont want certain movies added to a certain collections. If emby reads metadata from providers and then write to nfos here you have the option to avoid in absolute form the creation of collections disabling the library option or leave enabled and just manually remove collections from the webui Only if you manage your nfos separately from emby, you need to modify them directly manually or with 3rd party app. If emby reads metadata just from online providers without using/writing nfos then just delete collections or movies from collections within emby webui for example. (here you have the option to avoid in absolute form the creation of collections disabling the library option) After that you can always create your collections manually from webui.1 point

4.6 changed the database so the db is new but has original data that should have migrated to the new columns. So comparing 4.5 to 4.6 is really moot. To me this is specific to your database or everyone would be seeing this behavior. I just know there are columns changes from 4.5 to 4.6, have no idea of the overall changes to look for. That is why I am suggesting create a new library with a new folder and test with a series you having issues with. This will tell you if it is a DB issue or something else.1 point

I keep going back to Plex and every time I do it's a very frustrating experience. Not because I run into issues... which I do, but I run into issues with Emby too... it's that I feel I have nowhere to turn when it happens. Plex pushed out a bad build once, which broke my Plex install, which is bad enough but when I when I reinstalled it botched media playback for a number of files (for some reason it was transcoding AAC to FLAC on my Roku Ultra which broke seeking in and resuming files) and a forum post and several bumps later, I couldn't get a single damn response. This time around, I couldn't get the Play/Shuffle buttons to work on a g-damn Collection, and I get errors just trying to log into their forums. That's the gold standard? The fact I can come on here, post any number of bug reports (even the stupid stuff that ends up being something obvious or that I did wrong) and actually get a response, whether I like the answer or not, is everything for me. I hate to sound like a shill sometimes but that's what it boils down to and I'm very happy with Emby in regards to accessibility and support. Maybe Jellyfin would be good for that too, I feel no urge to find out... but I can't shake the feeling there'd be a lot of "the source is right there, go fix it yourself" responses flung my way lol. Like it's great for impatient frugal coders that want to fork a fork of a fork, but it's nice there's something like Emby between that and the soulless husk that is Plex.1 point
