Ah.. the "search results" is how you get these to break. Man. That is the missing ingredient required. I checked for "schedule" and "recordings" and everything else, but did not make sure "search" was respectful too. Thank you for the clue. We shall resolve this. As per your first problem, the search and guide overlap has been corrected. We currently have that fix checked-in ready the next push for Beta. As much as Emby's UI kicks my cable boxes ass, it does have one useful feature that Emby does not. They call it "Reminder". When you click on a future program in the grid guide, now in Emby you get the option to record. The cable box has a additional "Set Reminder" in that context menu (a "Remove Reminder" option appears if a reminder is set for the selected show). When a reminder is set for a show and the time is 1 minute before the show starts, a dialog overlay appears at the bottom of the screen offering the options to either stay on the same channel, or switch to the channel that has the show with the reminder set. If nothing is selected in 45 seconds, the channel is changed automatically to the channel that has the show with the reminder set. With the reminder set, it is much harder to miss the beginning of a show or sporting event that you want to see1 point

Please add a setting for subtitle opacity, as it looks so much better on HDR TVs. Otherwise it's much too bright and hurt your eyes.1 point

Request No. 1: Implement Metascore rating for movies, from Metacritic.com, in Emby. OMDb api provides this information. Request No. 2: Also, fix an option in settings to enable or disable a ratings source according to the user's choice.1 point

Can we get admin settings to have universal settings for every device. So if I want my movies to show as thumbnails on every device I set that in my admin panel. Same with how the home page display looks and the theme is. So all settings are all universal and not having to change them every single time.1 point

I love music visualizations. I was thinking that a unique way to integrate visualizations in Emby would be to encode the audio with the video output of a visualizer like Milkdrop or ProjectM. The mux can then be streamed to clients as video (if the client has enabled music visualizations). Wouldn't that be cool? Sure, you sacrifice a little quality in the transcode but it would still be acceptable and by offloading the visualization to the server, even underpowered clients could potentially support visualizations that would be impossible given their hardware.1 point

As I mention in a related post, I love the additional subfolders for Movie Extras (eg, Shorts, Scenes, Interviews, etc.)! It would be awesome to extend this functionality to TV Series as well. Specifically to add support for many/all of the same folders supported for Movie Extras, eg, extras specials shorts scenes featurettes behind the scenes deleted scenes interviews trailers As well as any additional folders that get added in the future (eg, hopefully Galleries). Support Placement of "Extras" Folders Within Each Season Folder, Plus A Naming Scheme to Link A Particular Extras Folder with a Specific Episode (eg, "\Season 1\E1 - Deleted Scenes\" for episode 1 deleted scenes): I want to clarify that it would be great if these various "extras" folder types could reside within each Season folder. So for example, within a Season 1 folder we could then have an "Extras" folder, a "Deleted Scenes" folder, a "Featurettes" folder, etc. And furthermore, that we could designate a particular folder to refer to a specific episode (eg, "\Season 1\E1 - Deleted Scenes\" for episode 1 deleted scenes). See more below, particularly why I think this would be so useful: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/55915-emby-server-theater-additional-extrasspecial-folder-types-for-tv-series-similar-to-movies/&do=findComment&comment=587195 Thanks for your consideration! PS - If this is something you might like to see implemented, be sure to "Like" this top/first post (as well as any subsequent posts in this thread that highlight particular aspects of what you are interested in) -- "Liking" the top/first post helps the Devs to know how much interest there is in a given Feature Request.1 point

It would be nice if we could have an additional level in audio books for book series, rather than just author, book, chapters. It would be nice if they were listed in series order too. Author > (series) > Book > Chapters. I just realised.. this is probably not really doable if you're pulling data out of tags in the file... ah well. I guess it'd be more hassle than its worth, I dont see many people opting to add in series tags into each of their files...1 point

Hi I would really like to be able to send some custom notifications to my users For example, i would like to be able to send a notification like : -"What content would you like to see added on Emby this week ? https://www.strawpoll.me/#####" -"Blabla Season3 is coming next week !" -"Server will be down for maintenance tonight" A little notification icon on the top right corner would be awesome. I looked in the Feature Requests list but i did'nt find anything like that. Thanks for reading, and for this amazing software.1 point

Request that Emby server store Dolby Vision (including profile), Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, HDR10+ (smpte2094) and HLG for appropriate video in the db and use it for display in the media info and track selection sections of movie/episode details screen. This information once in the db can then also be used in numerous other areas like: Mediainfo Cover Art, Stats for Nerds, Distinguishing different DV profiles for hardware support and tone mapping Example Mediainfo app display of HDR10+ ffmpeg patch for HDR10+ https://patchwork.ffmpeg.org/patch/11491/ Related requested that may require DV profile information in order to prevent unneeded TM1 point

Please read this post first. I was wondering if it would be possible to add something that would allow you to skip the intro to shows automatically while binge watching. When watching Netflix it does this for some shows, and im not sure if thats a feature of Netflix itself or a Chrome extension i use called "Flix Assist" but it would be a nice feature to have within Emby as well. and possibly even create a custom timed skip for specific shows1 point

Brought this back up just in case someone else has a similar issue. It does seem to be that my video (intel HD4600) was not able to keep up. Added an outboard video card (GeForce 1050 ti) and am not seeing the issue. Even on John Wick 2 which can hit 80 something Mbps. Probably should have seen this from the get go.1 point

I would love to see an option to make it so that backdrops that have text on them are excluded from scraping where possible. TMDb, for example, keeps them separated from ones with text and defaults to the "no text" view when browsing their site. Since these images are usually used as backgrounds, the text of the title, or even the logo, is usually already somewhere on the page and having it included in the backdrop is redundant at best and obtrusive at worst. I realize this might not be practical with other scrapers, and would probably only apply to backdrops, but I would think it would be a useful option for many of us.1 point

Hi, no there is no option for this at present but it's something that could be added. You could make this a feature request here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/forum/98-feature-requests/1 point

At times I really wanna see what my server is doing to help troubleshoot things, would it be possible to have a rolling log screen instead of having to download constantly to see what is going on?1 point

Those app use the Apple TV native player. If you disable MPV player, Emby for Apple TV will support the new Siri remote. We will have to wait for it to be implemented manually in the MPV player. First impressions using Emby with the new Apple TV 4K (2nd Gen) - Apple TV - Emby Community1 point

So I replaced my Laptop, named it the same as my other one "Mkilbride-Laptop" Using Emby Theater from Microsoft Store because it allows downloads to PCS while the Desktop verison doesn't. I removed all the downloads and tried again, on both the laptop and the server. It simply refuses and for no reason. The Other Laptops I had did not have this issue. It's Windows 10, fully updated. I unchecked download only over WiFi. It's plugged in direct to an Ethernet cord. It just remains as "Awaiting transfer" forever and nothing I can do gets it to go.1 point

In my Synology the folder the system.xml file is in: Emby/config (volume1/Emby/config) I have to give my admin user r/w to the Emby folder so that I can see and edit it. DSM 6.21 point

Ah, perhaps not. I probably have to add a plugin for that? I had assumed (apparently incorrectly) that it was the 10 point scale number directly under the title in the detail view for any given entry.1 point

Hi and Thanks for reporting. In Pic1 the search is collide with the guide. This slipped past us. We can and will correct this. In Pic2 we have already fixed this in Beta. If you use the Emby Beta for Roku the timezone will be respected and the display of programs will be correct.1 point

If you make it like collections we can create our own series. Otherwise you can likely do it similarly to how Calibre does it from Google Books: https://developers.google.com/books/docs/v1/using and Amazon: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/advertising/api/detail/main.html Or since book and audiobook series tend to be the same look up the book series data via the overdrive metadata API: https://developer.overdrive.com/apis/metadata or the openlibrary's api: https://openlibrary.org/dev/docs/api/books1 point

In that case, just get the best TV for the money and ignore if it's "smart" or not. It's actually getting harder and harder to purchase a dumb TV. That gives you the option to test/play with the built in features or just slap one of your MiBox's on it and call it a day. That's pretty much the approach I go with.1 point

The older versions of emby had << and >> so you could navigate to next track or chapter in a music album or an audiobook. Audiobooks typically have lots of stories over many hours in one track. At the moment, its un-useable as no controls of going to next chapter or back. Can this be re-instated please instead of blindly copying what Spotify do? Thanks1 point

The way to get it back is to edit the tags of your music files to display the way you want. Albums are no longer disc/folder based but tag based. Essentially Emby was most likely masking issues previously with your tagging that are now apparent and need adjusting. The new changes are great because they show the source of the problem (tagging). Some people fight looking/fixing the tagging while others will just adjust them and move on. If you want to show specific examples of what's wrong then we can help you. But I can say with almost 100% certainty if your albums aren't showing correctly it's because the tagging is off.1 point

Yes Alexa Skills is a Premiere Feature. Hack attempts are an unfortunate way of life these days. Having a well setup firewall only allowing ports that are needed to be open is paramount of course. Whitelists can be great for certain things but can get difficult to use for other services. Alexa Skills or Google Home integration are perfect examples of this!!! Ideally you would never have anything like SSH or any admin like service available directly on the Internet but instead would use a hosted VPN server to gain access to your home network instead. That alone cuts down on your vulnerability quite greatly. Putting a service like Emby behind something like Cloudflare gives an additional level of protection and allows geo blocking. That of course didn't answer your question. Alexa Skills can come from any IP on the AWS network so you would need to open up these IPs. Your best source of this information is right here and kept up to date by Amazon: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/general/latest/gr/aws-ip-ranges.html There is a specific question asked on the Amazon dev forum about the IP ranges and the answer given: https://forums.developer.amazon.com/questions/60923/how-to-get-list-of-amazon-alexa-skill-ip-address-t.html "We can't really give specific IP ranges beyond the standard AWS ranges, but you shouldn't need to use IP blocking to make sure that you are only getting requests specific to your Alexa skill from amazon. As long as you verify the signature and the app id that is sent in the request, it will not be possible for someone to spoof a request to your service."1 point

No, so you'd have to embrace the menus with Emby that allow you to navigate and play your files.1 point

Music playback needs some little tweaking to improve the way music is reproduced: 1) Skipped songs SHOULD NOT be marked as "Recently Played" unless they reach a minimum playback percentage (perhaps a 50%), I guess the server could calculate this based on the total time of each individual track at the moment they start playback. 2) the "Frequently Played" row MUST start to fill up when songs were at least played twice. If you agree, please upvote this comment. Thank you.1 point
