Hi, yes i can reproduce. We'll include a fix for this in the 4.6.3 maintenance release. Thanks for reporting.2 points

That won't work as all the items have the collection <set> tag so they will just get recreated. You have to delete each collection via the UI to ensure item nfos are updated.2 points

CURRENT STATUS: SSO: Not yet planned LDAP: Development COMPLETED - BETA AVAILABLE >180 direct endorsements >30 MONTHS (>2.5 years) >12,000 views PLEASE BUMP - - - - - PLEASE LIKE - - - - - PLEASE BUMP - - - - - PLEASE LIKE - - - - - PLEASE BUMP This would greatly expand Emby's usage, and possibly more enterprise level adoption, user templating, user groups, SSO, etc. There are also users who have completely abandoned Emby and ended subscriptions due to the lack of this necessary basic functionality. Note: SAML2 is also part of this request. (header auth is also acceptable, at a minimum.) Context: I am trying to use something like openfire as a Instant Messaging solution which already supports LDAP and SAML2. So this would allow the current user of emby to seamlessly use web-based instant messenger with the same username and password as Emby without the need to enter them into a form. This would also allow universal login to be shared with my home PC's, Spiceworks, Ombii, Organizr, etc. The multitude of possible flexible functionality this could add is truly incredible. THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE, myself and others cannot manage a userbase with proprietary passwords for a single service (with no self-service password reset/recovery), when things that have only months of development implement it within days, easily. Status: LDAP - Development Completed - BETA AVAILABLE! Common LDAP solutions to test against:Open LDAP (Open Source) [use this] ApacheDS OpenDJ 389 Directory Server Microsoft Active Directory SSL is NOT actually needed, but Emby team insisted on it anyways: Simply offering a toggle option for auth to send plaintext or encrypted passwords would work just fine. It is ironic to claim the need to be overly security conscious of user passwords, while lagging behind on basic SSL. If SAML is implemented, a SAML request/response can just be signed by an x509 and it is just as secure as TLS using SSL. SSL does not need to be natively supported, as it is perfectly possible to run it through an SSL reverse proxy tunnel and have the same effect. SSL Feature Request: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/33983-ssl-integrationsupport/&do=findComment&comment=322526As of now username and password is encrypted client-side as security as SSL is not natively implemented. Emby team has said this impedes the adoption of both SSO and LDAP. Please see our SSL request topic; like, comment, and endorse it to show how many people would enjoy/gain from this basic security. Ways to satisfy this FR: Direct LDAP connector SAML2 connector General SSO functionality (SSO Header, etc) Allowing user header auth NGINX auth support RADIUS Authentication Other features that are inherently possible if this is implemented: Self service passwords Ability for users to invite users/guests Expiring Accounts (after duration/trigger) Unified credentials for many services Corporate level authentication security User groups Mass User management Update 1: I encourage others to work on this but I am currently seeing what I can do to develop a solution to this myself. If you have experience in this LDAP/SSO/SAML2/SSL/.NET contact myself, @@Luke, @@ebr or the Emby team to let them know, any help is greatly appreciated! By everyone! Update 2: I know there is always the question of "well how many users actually want/will use this", so I compiled a list of some of the other threads/sites where people request this (to apparently no effectiveness in motivating the team). Update 3 (18 MONTH UPDATE): This request has now hit 18 months in age, NO progress made thus far whatsoever. ( ) Update 4: This FR is now the 4th most liked post ON THE ENTIRE FORUM and the 3rd most liked FR ON THE ENTIRE FORUM (ever), the 1st most liked active FR ON THE ENTIRE FORUM and over 4000 views. Counting endorsements besides those on this thread show over 115 direct requests/endorsements for this basic functionality. Lets get this moving guys, this is getting to be a bit much. Almost 2 years waiting on this now. Source Update 5 (9/20/2017): This feature request is now the MOST DESIRED REQUEST EVER MADE TO EMBY, sadly, that has not merited any progress at all. The staff has been working on things they believe Emby users want or may want, but it is clear what people want. We can only hope now our wishes are respected instead of being told what we want and having our requests dismissed. Source Update 6 [2 year update] (10/17/2017): Two years and not a single bit of progress has been made. TWO YEARS!!! To say this is disappointing is an understatement. The entire reason I went from Plex to Emby was because of local user management. THIS IS THE ONLY REASON, so naturally I wanted to have complete control over my users, but after TWO YEARS, still nothing. Update 7 (3/6/2018): DEVELOPMENT HAS STARTED!!! Check Luke's recent comments, if you want to test it out, download the latest beta and install/configure the LDAP plugin to test and give feedback!!! Update 8 (4/6/2018): Development on the LDAP connector has completed from what I gather, not sure if this is only a beta or a primary release; SSO is still a plan for the future but has not been touched. Progress made by other users (looks to be nearly, if not fully complete): https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/pull/1885 https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/pull/2139 Exploits shown by other users against Emby (emphasizing the need for a centralized authentication solution): https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12335-unauthenticated-access-over-the-internet-to-logs-folder/ https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/20376-all-folders-visible-to-all-users-after-upgrade/ Related FR that could be helpful: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/46635-support-for-logging-users-in-though-url-scheme/?hl=user Any of these could be interesting to have compatibility with: http://lemonldap-ng.org/welcome/ https://github.com/Jasig/cas http://passportjs.org/ https://www.nginx.com/resources/admin-guide/restricting-access-auth-request/ LDAP/SSO/SAML Requests (~180 endorsements) [>12,000 views] > 95 endorsements on this post ~ 30 endorsementshttps://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/1146 > 35 endorsementshttps://www.bountysource.com/issues/24943821-authenticate-users-using-ldap > 14 endorsementshttps://feathub.com/tidusjar/Ombi/+122 > 4 endorsementshttps://www.reddit.com/r/emby/comments/5o44wd/creating_deleting_updating_users_with_the_api/ Interview, in article comments user said lack of LDAP STOPPED him from using Emby (Emby is actually losing customers due to the lack of this NECESSARY basic functionality):https://www.linux.com/news/software/multimedia/856128-exclusive-interview-emby-founder-luke-pulverenti Duplicate, user had no progress on first 2 posts (no one from Emby actually tracked this or even replied to him):http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/861-mb3-and-active-directory/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/867-mb3-and-active-directory/ Auth announcement, user 'Drashna' in comments requested LDAP/ADhttp://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-177-manage-your-home-with-emby-users/ Various similar requestshttps://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/2494 https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/2493 https://forum.yunohost.org/t/integration-emby/912 http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/13081-active-directory-integration/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/11200-media-browser-3-server-ldap-active-directory/ External SQL auth request:http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/27986-emby-and-shared-mysql-database/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/23509-authenticate-users-via-external-mysql-database/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12001-external-login-to-mysql/ #ADFS #SSO #LDAP #ActiveDirectory #MSAD #SAML #SAML2.0 #SAML1.1 #PingFederate #OKTA #LemonLDAP #JASIG #authentication #auth #TLS #SSL #Usergroup #usertemplate #header #authheader #headerauth #security #hardening #authhardening #authenticationheader #externalauth #centralauth #centralizedauth #centralizeddb #exploit #authexploit #security #loginhardening #authenticationhardening #accesscontrol #.NET #SelfService #RADIUS1 point

Specifically, for photos I would like to display the "Date Added" value in metadata. The only options I see now are Title and Year. I have many photos, so I would not be able to copy the Date Added info into the Title field in metadata by hand.1 point

I'm not sure which area to put this, but I noticed a few days ago that when using VirtualTV on my Roku, I no longer have the stretching or conversely, squishing of the aspect ratio of different shows. Thank you to whomever worked on this, I am so very happy. Thank you! @pünktchen @speechles @Luke1 point

Unfortunately, there isn't a single source of it. Depending on exactly what you are looking for, other than Collections, the other changes were mostly superficial in that the folders (people) were merely moved from the data subdirectory to the metadata subdirectory and the genres folder seems to have been added for custom images. As for collections, there are plenty of threads discussing those changes that you can find in the testing category on this forum and this was the release announcement for it in the beta:1 point

It will be resolved so that you won't be able to attempt to upload types that aren't supported to be uploaded.1 point

Since page ids were removed awhile ago you can no longer target #moviesPage, all you need to do is remove it.1 point

Various Artists as the album artist in each tracks metadata, with the actual artist name as the track Artist. Then rescan and if it gets pulled together, great. You have to actually edit the songs outside of Emby to effectively change those tracks for future-proofing. Before 4.6 library content didn't have to be that way to work well, but now it has to, or else you'll have those single song albums. It you get it working, then any artist you have on those CD's with Artists very own albums, you'll see "Appears On" with the compilation album below that on each respective artists profile. I keep my compilation albums in a separate music library since server 4.6 so my main album area stays neat, and "appears on" works well. The structure of your music library in the settings of the server libraries section determines whether Emby will look in your folders for album pics pre-existing too. Perfectly will save all the image things in folders and find those pre-existing ones. Other is the mess situation which is how the server automatically is set once you are upgraded to 4.6 ... so you have to sort it out in the server and then scan. The Emby Dance is sometimes needed too. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/98389-duplicate-track-results-in-search/&do=findComment&comment=10258791 point

Unfortunately, that kind of a setting is just too granular/obscure. If we had a setting for every similar behavior, there would be so many settings the program would be completely unmanageable - from both a usability and maintainability standpoint. So, we need to just pick the best action for the most people in these cases.1 point

It might be difficult to try and determine what happened in the past with existing videos, but when the status changes unexpectedly again on another video, please capture the emby server log from the time frame and attach it here. thanks.1 point

Ahh! I didn't know about that one! thanks, sorted. funny that no others seem to be doing it.1 point

We don't want to change default behavior. We just want to have a possibility to change it in the settings..1 point

Hi. It is very confusing on these TVs with Android built in because, even though they support multiple resolutions and refresh rates, they don't expose that to the internal Android apps. Worse than that, they report a static value as the display resolution that may not actually match what you see in video. So, on these devices, we just have to hide all the information about the display resolution because it is too likely to be inaccurate.1 point
-
Hi. Your naming convention appears to match our multi-version feature... Try removing "Stone Sour - " from each of the individual file names. Or, just the " - ".1 point

Replace with something like this div.cardScalable button i.cardIndicator {display:none; } Since data-type has been removed, I am not currently seeing a way to do this. If we had unified tab index number we could but each content type has its own index numbers per tab and no way to target content type as all the page code is identical. So one would have to add page ids to each html file from my understanding.1 point

Don't forget all the emails announcing the shutdown months in advance for precisely that reason (to prevent renewals). If someone renewed that recently, we can issue a refund. Many folks use applications in addition to Emby. Blocking Emby users from renewing can break other things.1 point
-
So, does that mean I have to go through and manually delete all the crazy stupid collections that Emby has created on it's own that make absolutely no sense at all as to why most of them are there......because most of them contain just one movie or they are completely inaccurate. I realize I am running the beta server so my experience may be diferent but the auto collections are useless.1 point

I agree, but Emby was de-listed as an approved SD application two years ago, but the option remained in Emby so there is some shared blame. Martin1 point

Emby does take a bit of getting used to. But, it's got more features than Plex so for me that's what's most important. Depends what you're looking for though. If you want a clean and simple UI, maybe Plex. If you want granular configuration and a forum of users and devs that listen and respond, Emby might be the right server for you.1 point
-
Why not enable the user to edit this info? Emby can pull the media info how it already does, but if anything needs to be tweaked, the user can unlock it per say, just like we can already do for the metadata, and edit the audio/video codec info.1 point

Ah yes, well, good thing I didn't suggest that he restrict the device or IP or he would have locked himself out of his own server1 point

Create the Friends Reunion 'Movie' as you would do normally in the Movies library. It should pick up all the correct metadata and look like Happy2Plays screen shots above. As a 'movie' this is great - but most people are going to want this displayed in their Friends TV area as a special - not as a movie. Thus you have two options - one is to copy everything in the Friends reunion movie folder to the 'Season 0' TV folder - renaming ALL the files you copy to include s00e100 (or something, it doesn't really matter) - or two, copy everything as in option one, but create a LINK to the actual video file (via a STRM file) instead of copying it - the jpg, nfo etc need to be copied or you won't get the metadata, cast etc. Emby STRM Wiki1 point

I believe I've chased this down and that it is isolated to when the server admin restricts their own remote control access of other devices. So that should make it easy to resolve and thankfully, that also means this will not be a widespread issue.1 point

I would really love this to come back. Personally i find, the layouts super basic, favourite tiles don’t reflect the actual favourites, collections tile is the same, the item details page is not intuitive - yes it functions, but essentially is dull. The “more from” as the first scroller isn’t relevant. Can we place this in a road map, i know we are competing with features in plex right now and that was a big one to get tone mapping in. But if our app look prettier and works better then you are gonna get more in.1 point

I can revisit this. I think it should be for raspberry pi. But, I'll create a web page that requests the currently playing item for a session and will display it, in portrait, in a kiosk browser window. We'll show a default image if the page loads and nothing is playing in the session. My development computer has been in pieces for several weeks, but I'll take a look as soon as is possible.1 point

Yes! This is how I added the Unifi Controller to the Raspberry Pi: https://pimylifeup.com/rasberry-pi-unifi/ Fishing wires through you house is actually easier then you might think. That is... If you have drywall walls. If it is lath and plaster it is harder. Don't be afraid to cut holes in your drywall everywhere in your home. You can patch and paint, and it is very easy to do. The "California Patch" is the trick to fixing holes! At first my wife thought I was crazy cutting holes everywhere, but it was super simple to patch, and I know more about what is happening inside the walls of my home. If you ever rip the ceiling out of your basement, that is the time to run CAT wiring because you can access the main floor. Just remember that your basement walls are actually inset from your main floor exterior walls (because your house is sitting on top of them) when you are measuring to access the inside of your walls on the main floor. That is literally the trickiest part. But once you figure it out, it becomes really easy to pull the wires through. It will also add value and update your home, if it is wired. I purchased this long drill bit for making holes: I was able to cut though most of my joists for lighting, and push through sub floor into my walls upstairs, to run CAT6. I had to use a hammer drill to get through some areas because we have an addition, and I had to go through the concrete foundation, but mostly I used the long fishing drill bit. Keep you scrap drywall. That is super important! So you can make your California Patches. Then go around your house and cut holes everywhere! Your wife will love you for it! . I was able to remodel my basement by myself in four weeks. All new 14/2 wiring (read you local wiring code before attempting it). I went to "YouTube University" to learn it all.1 point

I support having the option to force transcode of AAC 5.1 / 7.1 to DD in ATV I have a W10 Emby server with an ATV client on a Mibox. The Mibox is connected to a Denon AVR-1911 via HDMI. If I allow pass through of DTS then it also passes through AAC 5.1 and I get no sound. I can only get sound if I set the Mibox to output all as PCM, however this is not ideal for the non AAC 5.1 streams. I can also get sound if I force ATV to stereo, again not ideal. I was considering replacing the MIbox with a new 2019 Shield in the hope of a better result but reading the above it seems not.1 point
-
Receivers don't support AAC pass-through decoding, it is decoded as PCM by the device before it's sent to the receiver, that's why they always show "PCM" on their displays, if they add the option to force transcoding of multichannel AAC and multichannel PCM, it will send a Dolby Digital multichannel stream instead.1 point
