Hi, yes mulitple apps are affected. This happened two or three years ago and it was a Microsoft defect that they eventually resolved. On Monday if it's not resolved by then I will publish a new version to the store just to see if that might help.3 points

Emby has long history and there is a dedicated and loyal user base that is happy with Enby and will stick with it. Emby (devs) also has a lot more experience building Streaming and playback apps, years of experience building this and finding all the gotchas along to way so Emby users will have a smoother ride due to this experience. This makes it a very good platform for people that just want to set and forget, update when they can and play their favorite media. Jellyfin will always have a passionate OSS following, as well as a lot of users that feel like they are getting something for free and would rather suffer the small bumps along the way. The ride with Jellyfin will be bumpier and need more attention for updates and things breaking which the OSS users will take in their strides and feel it is a right of passage to get this software up and running.2 points

While I agree that "series" has more use in the UK than "season", I'm certainly happy with season (I prefer it, logically), and I'm sure I'm not alone. Paul2 points

So basically this. I have TV Shows, Movies, and Anime libraries. For anime; I'd prefer to set the default to Japanese with Subtitles. For movies, English and no subs unless forced. For TV Shows, the same. However, Emby only allows one overall setting this for this, for all libraries, instead of just one. I think it'd be a pretty nice little feature.1 point

Since more and more users asked for it, I'm glad to announce native Emby server support for Yatse. Full library sync, PVR, Offline media sync, transcoding, Chromecast are all supported. At the end of playback instead of displaying the detail screen, a post-playback screen could be displayed. For example, in TV Shows you could offer to play the next episode, in movies, you can offer related movies or if the film is part of a collection, offer to play the next item.1 point
-
Do you have the meta-data providers setup for each library? That should also pull down the images automatically if it can identify your movies and shows.1 point
-
I can confirm that TMM created nfos get parsed properly, Movies have worked for some time, with recent additions for TV Shows, they do as well, as I curate my collection exclusively via TMM.1 point

Yes, you need to explore Home Screen option. User icon-Home Screen and scroll down to the library and you should see "Display in secondary home screen sections such as latest media and continue watching".1 point

That does not apply to item backdrops only browsing/navigational backdrops.1 point

Hi, YouTube is not leaving Roku. The current conflict between Google and Roku is only about YouTube TV.1 point
-
Have you checked or modified the actual music files to make sure they have the correct tagging? That is what Emby will read and use.1 point
-
Sure. References: #1110 [VideoPlayer] Allow building video queue/playlist directly from within the application (added to our tracker per this thread) #691 [Video Player] Ability to view and edit queue within OSD (already on our tracker) You can reference both these in your feature request. We have them internally but it always helps for users to ring the bell attached to these to bring attention to them. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.1 point

Probably because the conversion only happens once, then it's cached. If you play the same item again do you see the same info message? I just noted the .vtt stream in the OP's log which is how I knew what it was calling for.1 point

https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status MS isn't showing any server or service issues. @Luke you might want to try pushing another version now vs waiting.1 point

Hi, this is not possible at this point in time. You could check to see if there is a feature request for this and if not create one. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/forum/98-feature-requests/1 point

Amazon is usually only a couple days but they are taking a long time this release. It actually hasn't gone out anywhere yet.1 point

Thanks @SamES - that's useful info. If I play a SRT on a chrome web browser - I get an ffmpeg conversion in the log from srt to vtt as you say - under 'Info SubtitleEncoder' - but I see no such entries on the OP's log file. I did the same with all transcoding permissions removed (same as OP) - but I still see the ffmpeg command run in my logs. @ChrisJ60The temp vtt file is created when the file is first played - and it doesn't appear to be removed - ie it is re-used when you play the file again. So there is a possibility that the LG and Safari are simply re-using these temp .vtt files that are incorrectly timed. They live in <emby-server>\programdata\cache\subtitles\ I would suggest deleting them all - and watch that directory when you play an item with external subs - it should create the temp vtt file - and you should be able to compare it to the original .srt (use an text editor). You should also see the creation of it in the log file.1 point
-
With Apple TV and iPad they're being streamed as srt files, but on the LG and Safari they are being converted by the server and streamed as vtt files. Now why vtt is causing a delay, that's a question I don't have an answer for. The subtitle delay feature hasn't been implemented on LG yet (next release), so that shouldn't be causing any issues. A few seconds delay does sound like a lot though. Can you try this? Put this url into a browser to download the vtt file. Save the contents into a text file. Then find the matching srt and movie file http://10.0.200.20:8096/emby/Videos/104596/112ec636bd1d464ea1877f3cafab5ddd/Subtitles/3/0/Stream.vtt Please upload the text file with the vtt, the srt and the MediaInfo. Ideally I would like to see the full media info extracted with MediaInfo - Download (mediaarea.net) I'm not entirely sure what this will tell us, but something might jump out1 point

Podcasts, slightly boring shows or dull movies, sometimes an audiobook, etc.1 point

If the delay is happening on the normal web player as well - is there a possibility some sort of Subtitle offset has been set ? I'm really not sure on this one - with external SRT, there really is not a lot to go wrong. I don't see any other reports of this, so I believe it's something on your system .. Maybe worth installing a 2nd portable version of emby on a different port with a test library ?1 point

Ok, I just saw that this is now an option on the android tv app that you need to enable, so I have it back there. I thought this was an option for the web app too, but I may have been mistaken on that one as I don't use the web app often except for editing metadata and such.1 point

Hi @ebr I just noticed that you guys finally fixed the problem on any of the recent versions of the stable Android app, but I found one little problem I will explain in another topic. Thank you so much.1 point

I did actually find an issue with this and it will be resolved in the next set of app updates. thanks.1 point

Yes I guess we will have to update Tmdb to fetch the info for both so that it is named consistently with what you'd get from tvdb.1 point

Would be nice, like YouTube, to see the history of a user in a simple list with thumbnails of the videos and headed by dates. Apologies if this has been requested.1 point

BTW: This is working now for me in the latest beta 2.0.12 Tested with VLC as an external player and it sent the correct version of the film where it wasn't working properly before the update From release notes: Send proper version info to external player1 point

I can do that. The problem is the whole "bitstreaming audio" goes right over my head. I googled it and I think I grasp the basics, but I have no idea what it's doing. I can't say for certain it is bitstreaming the audio, but looking at the stats for nerds the files all show up as being Dobly+ (direct) and have roughly identical Playback Info as I posted above [excusing some differences in bitrate]. Since you told me in that case that playback info indicated it was bitstreaming the audio, I am assuming it is bitstreaming all of this audio as the info is the same. As I understand it, after an update a few days ago all of my DD+ files are now bitstreaming audio and under this situation Emby cannot adjust the speed and I shouldn't make a new thread because you already know about this, and it's impossible to fix. Is that correct? I'm still a little confused because it seems like if bitstreaming is now a problem, and it wasn't a problem with these same files for months, then the problem seems to be that something changed in my Emby setup to start bitstreaming my files when it shouldn't. I didn't knowingly change anything in my settings (except my Shield automatically installing the last official Emby update). As the files still work on iOS and in VLC it seems like there is a solution. Sure! I use it most while working out while watching TV shows. I started using it after Tivo added it, and then I used an extension to do the same thing with Netflix. It's great because I'll usually exercise for an hour. At normal speed with a 45-minute TV show that means I'll be able to watch one episode and 15 minutes of the next one which either leaves a 30-minute chunk for the next day or I'll end up finishing it up later in the day. At faster speeds I can comfortably watch 2 full 45-minute episodes during that same hour (at 1.25 speed it's around 33 minutes, at 1.5 speed it's around 28 minutes per episode). At 1.25 speed I'll usually forget and not notice any difference after a minute or two. I also occasionally use it to get through shows that my partner and I want to finish up but are not that invested in. We frequently watch bad movies to go along a bad movies podcast and playing them at faster speeds can turn an awful 2 hours+ into a more enjoyable hour or so of content.1 point

That makes sense.. Guess I'll just use my Shield for all Emby related things then.. So close to not needing it... At least the TV will pass whatever the Shield sends... Thank you once more!1 point

That is not just strange - that is beyond the capabilities of full HD (defined as a max of 1920x1080). So, by definition, it is beyond full HD which classifies it as 4K.1 point

Version 2.0 of our popular Android TV and Fire TV apps are rolling out to stores now. This version brings many internal improvements for playback and also supports the new features in the upcoming 4.6 release of the server. Your device should update automatically when available. Improved Subtitle Support These apps can now natively render most types of advanced subtitles (Dual Layer PGS/SSA etc.) with full formatting and multiple sub placements without requiring the server to transcode or burn in. With supported external subtitles you can also adjust the placement and time offset of the subtitle display. Improved Playback We've implemented several customizations to the Google player the app utilizes that provide us with even more direct play in more situations and also simplified some of the playback options to allow you to choose how your media plays. Tags View You can now see tags for movies and albums on their detail page and also view other items with the same tags by clicking on them. Tags are also returned in search results. Artist Songs Directly view and access songs right from an artist page. 4.6 Server Support Version 2.0 of these apps fully support some of the new features coming in the 4.6 server release like channel grouping, improved channel logos and an improved Continue Watching display. Other Enhancements and Fixes In addition to the above, many more improvements and small fixes have been made. Including: Fix play from grid when folder browsing music Increase size of cast on OSD Tweak default background Update translations Fix stream copy for interlaced content (requires server 4.6) Increase playlist and album limits to 1500 No longer try to auto play from "Play Next" channel Fix series date display in folders Fix bad price display in purchase screen Add send logs to video playback menu Force player interface to LTR presentation Group by tags in channel grid (requires server 4.6) Implement filter by tags in TV guide (requires server 4.6) Simplify filter selection (fewer clicks) Fix shuffling video playlist Implement playlist and collection tabs in library for 4.6 server Remove collections from individual genre display Align EQ animation with other apps Improve list screen in Apple TV theme Allow screen saver during pause (except for live TV) Implement new search Improve hi-res flac audio Add a default poster size setting Make library prefs a popup for better navigation (can back out) Make library cog button a menu for app or library settings Add "All Items" button to Collection screen Add music videos to Artist view Allow converting dts-hd and not plain dts Indicate https in SFN when using SSL Implement play options from music genre Improve spinner layout Adjust home screen layout settings for server 4.6 Fix DTS HD badge not always showing properly Indicate in SFN when software audio decoding is occurring Clarify display HDR support labels RTL fixes Fix play first unwatched on some series Implement subtitle offset (external subs only) Improve play next up button when no next up episode Improve usability of DTS options Simplify audio option Fix crash on startup on non-standard boxes Add new "Extra Info" option and reduce clutter by default View the full article1 point

I was just looking at Emby through Android Auto this morning. I see that there is a "Search by Letter" Function at the album level! So, when you search through the artist list, select an album the you can search through the tracks by letter, but that's basically useless. What is really needed is a search by letter function at the *artist* level. Otherwise it's *extremely* difficult to use Emby for Android via Android.1 point
-
1. Search by letter function (A, B C) Currently when selecting "Music" users get their whole library. This is very difficult to navigate, especially while driving! Bizarrely, this function already exists for playlists. When you pull one up in Android Auto that has a lot of tracks, you do get a "Search by letter" function at the top. Why does this not exist for the library as a whole? 2. The option to restrict the library to only those artists that have tracks downloaded This would solve streaming problems and make it easier to navigate the library because it would be a smaller selection of artists.1 point
