It is a very old switch so it wouldn't surprise me if it's not functioning correctly. I'll look into it.2 points

The truth is that what is happening is no longer very normal. You said months ago, it was in revision..... Impossible for LG to take so long to review. Have you been rejected again? It would be nice to know if so.2 points

We would like to get here but you guys are making some assumptions about the benefits of this that are not necessarily true in the current environment. Currently, I believe only very limited platforms and situations would benefit. This is still on our to do list though.2 points

oh my!!! I had installed some extensions in Firefox a few days ago, one of the being uMatrix. That was the culprit! I have my gold disk back! Thank you!2 points

I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. Let's here your though if Emby developer should consider adding this feature to our beloved Emby Media https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=Plex+Watch+Together&qpvt=plex+watch+together&FORM=EWRE1 point

I am switching over from a Win7 box running MBC to Chromecast dongles. With the Win7 box I had a HDMI to Cat6 setup that allowed me to stream to up to 4 displays/TVs simultaneously. It was great while it lasted, but involved stapling cables to the ceiling to run it from room to room - plus it has borked Can there be an option to multi-cast to several receivers at once? i.e. simultaneously play to Chromecast dongles in my office and living room and kitchen simultaneously so i can walk from room to room without stopping and restarting the movie or show all the time? I realize that bandwidth could POTENTIALLY be an issue, but i have a fill gigabit network and a multi-port NAS so that really is the least of my worries... Thank you!1 point

I know the answer to this is probably going to be no..... ...but.... A standalone music player for iOS would be very useful. Trying to get the wife to use the full client for music is just not happening. Something that was simple and intuative and quick and easy to use would be killer, something like spotify. The simpler the app is to use, the better. If all else fails, I have a project that's on the back burner that was an iOS music player for subsonic, but I could always target emby as well. It had an spotify a-like interface. Screenshot from as far as I got with the UI, it was playing back music from the server.1 point

One thing that I would like to see implemented is the abilty to display lyrics in all of the apps. For those of us who have libraries with lyrics embedded in the actual files, it would be trivial. Simply scrape the lyrics from the lyrics tag and display them. As far as scraping from online lyrics databases, I don't see that working very well as just about every app that I have seen use it either doesn't get the correct lyrics or they are truncated with an add for the website.1 point

that's easy then if using cloudflare.. you just tell cloudflare your server IPv6 address and leave out an ipv4 address. So remove any A records you have under the DNS tab and create only an AAAA record. So if your domain name is mydomain.com you would set the name to "mydomain.com" and set the AAAA address to your public ipv6 address. don't create an A record. cloudflare servers will always have an A and AAAA record, the dns settings page A and AAAA records on cloudflare is just to tell cloudflare how to get to your server.1 point

No, not that I recall, not sure if it makes a difference but I have both the Windows app and the Desktop Theater... Also tried a "new" and fresh install laptop. I have actually shutdown and restarted multiple times, uninstall and reinstalled multiple times too.1 point

There is an app called Shuttle S2 Music player (Android Only), there is plans to push out an iOS version of it in the future. It has a really good UI and a great support team. It supports Emby & Jellyfin. Find it here on the google play store. S2 Music Player - Apps on Google Play. Feel free to give the developer a good rating if you like it.1 point

I just picked up the Quadro P620 with 2GB VRAM for around $140 (shipped) off eBay. It was a new system pull. I'm not sure how many 4K transcodes it can do, but most of my content is just HD (1080/720). I typically only have 1-2 transcodes going on at any given time, so the card more than meets my needs. It was an extremely good upgrade for my system (Xeon E3-1271 V3) since there was no integrated (QuickSync) graphics. It's cool to see a couple of transcodes with almost no hit to the rest of the performance of my system. I've successfully tested up to 4 or so simultaneous transcodes without issue. I didn't push it any further than that because I'll never go over that. I think that it's rare I'll even get to 2 because the transcode is so fast now. It will transcode an entire movie in a fraction of the time it used to take.1 point

OK. After deleting the synology entries in credentials manager, I was able to get to the server using \\<server name>. I was not able to append the user name and get in. But once I could see the server using just the server name I could then see the server from within the Emby library. So the synology Admin account is disabled and I do have full access to the media files from Emby. So mission accomplished. Thank you very much.1 point

I swear I did exactly that before I posted this and it wasn't there! Now it is. Maybe I didn't wait long enough since it had just transferred over. Well, bonus is that the file size is listed right there too! Thanks!1 point

A different and more secure take is using delegated authority on the emby owned TLD domain to create a unique certificate for any other subdomains. ie the opposite of a wildcard or multi-domain cert.. ie emby own - embyserver.com user has selected their subdomain via an emby app/plugin - whatever - to be 'fredflix' emby can create a unique SSL cert (from say from letsencrypt) for fredflix.embyserver.com - as they own the TLD. emby would also need to act as a DDNS server to update fledflix.embyserver.com to their home WAN IP. Obviously emby LLC ultimately control the creation and renewal of this cert - I get that, but if you want an automated SSL connection out the box, there is no other way unless you want to create one yourself.1 point

Aah, I understand. Thanks for helping me! Still new when it comes to encodings and how it actually works when playing a file. Going to try that software, so I can use it in the future.1 point

if you type in 'cred' in the windows search box - you should see 'Credentials Manager' - load this. You need to find in the 'Windows Credentials' the access it is using for your nas (Admin) - you need to delete this entry. Come out - then try again with the \\<synology name> - this time it should prompt you for a user and pw. \\<synology name\<share name> - is what you need to connect to (and emby) - the account used is not listed in the name. so if your nas was called nas and the share was called films - then you could be able to access it using - \\nas\films the fact Ip address shows the folders (can you access what's inside the folders?) means you are almost there .. Worst case - you can actually use IP's in the UNC names if you wish - ie \\192.168.1.2\films1 point
-
Absolutely - always disable Admins on all systems if you can and use 'service' accounts instead - which is what we are asking you to do on the synology for emby. ie, do not use this account for anything other than emby1 point
-
ok - so lets check you can actually see the synology at all. From windows 'Type here to search' box .. if you enter \\<synology_name> - do you get a prompt for Auth or a list of shares ? if nothing - if you enter \\<synology_ip> - do you get anything ? If IP works, but name does not, then this is a master browser issue. let us know, and we can advise next steps.1 point

I have not tried this so can't speak from any first hand knowledge but you may want to check this out.1 point

Hi, is this server on the same network (local) as the client being used or is the server remote?1 point
-
.. not sure I would agree with that either. The LG app does not seem to be getting much love either - it's 14 Months since the last update, and there is no option to update that via USB. The only TV Clients that appear to be getting any attention at the moment is Android/TV and Roku - Samsung and LG are way behind.1 point

This does not make any sense at all, a TV should not be compared by their OS, there is nothing wrong with Tizen OS, it can even be more responsive then Android OS. If you want the best experience for running apps on your TV you should simply use an SBC (f.e. with Kodi OS or even a simple Firestick would suffice), there is no question about that. Now, you are talking specifically about the Emby app. The question (imo) here should be, why cant Emby (a company app) not get an app in the Tizen OS store while others like Plex (a community app) can. If you'd read up to that in the previously made posts in this topic, the only given information we (the user) get is that they are working on meeting the requirements that Samsung holds for Tizen OS, which seems to be a difficult task for whatever reason. We should just be gratefull that Emby offers the alternative to use the Emby app without changing region (because then is works) via USB. Also, if the app "expires" you can still use it, you just get a popup message that there is a newer version.1 point
-
Emby will need read (if saving metadata locally) or read/write (if saving metadata to the shares) access to the shares - and it sound likes it was using the synology 'Admin' account to get this access. I would create a new 'emby' account on the synology, give it a decent password, add this as read only or read/write to the synology emby shares themselves. On the Windows machine - attempt to get to the shares using unc - ie \\my_synology_nas\sharename. Windows SHOULD prompt for an authentication at this point - now put in your synology emby username and password. If the shares now pop up in windows, then emby will use the same credentials to get access and should play.1 point

And what content type is the Library? The image suggests Mixed Content.1 point

The server has both 1080p and 4k versions of many movies and tv shows. The movies have multi version items which is fine as I can go to the movie and then select the version I would like to watch. But the tv shows have different items/listing for each release which means there can end up being many listings for one tv show... and in the next up tv widget there is no possibility to select a different release/version/resolution1 point

Assuming you have a transcoding bottleneck (the only real emby workload using the CPU), then the best bang for your buck by far will to purchase emby premier and a suitable GPU. It doesn't matter how many cores/threads or fast a CPU is, it is not as fast as dedicated hardware accelerated media decoders/encoders on the GPU silicon. You can't of course find any GPU's out there at the moment lol, but when they are available at mrrp, then this is your best - keep everything else as is.1 point

Sorry, don't check the forum that much (RL too busy...) But in the Emby app on Android, you can click on the "Play on" button (looks like a rectangle with the wifi signal on the bottom left). Then select the device you want to control, and then play the media you want. You can then click on the Play on button again, select remote control, and you'll be in the remote control screen, which allows you to drag the seek bar around to jump to the point you want. If you're using an iOS device, I'm not sure if that is available since I don't have one on hand.1 point

I would also like this solved for the Samsung TV app... Forwarding to the middle of a movie today is really not practical.1 point

Any updates on this? Using the Emby on Samsung tv still no change on the forwarding .1 point

If you're like me, you have some favorites that you dont mind watching for the 10th time. Your significant other may not agree with me. Those would be on top of my "to upgrade list", above any new stuff, actually1 point

While I don't know how many people "track" this, the narrator of an audio book can have a huge impact on its enjoyment so I think we should plan for it.1 point

@Luke How can it be that such basic function is still under development after so many years?!1 point

I'd also love to have the more detailed information for Atmos (and DTS-X as applicable) as well as advanced HDR formats noted in media info. I'm currently using Android TV (Shield) as my primary Emby experience. Thank you for all the amazing work already done to develop Emby's capabilities on Android TV. I really appreciate this program and its great performance.1 point
-
Just giving this a bit of a bump as it's been a year. With 4K, HDR and Atmos now much more popular in the industry, I think the lack of these tags for each media item is now well overdue and should be shown alongside the rating, resolution, audio and channels. Stats for nerds should show this info as well.1 point

voy a probar, muchas gracias.

As per the other topic you have to modify the system.xml as it contain <SortRemoveWords>. <SortRemoveWords> <string>the</string> <string>a</string> <string>an</string> <string>das</string> <string>der</string> <string>el</string> <string>la</string> </SortRemoveWords> Luego Actualizar, debe Actualizar la Biblioteca para reindexar los elementos. Then Refresh you have to Refresh the Library to reindex the items.1 point

Following. Would be fantastic if we got an increased fast forward or jump. The better half frequently won’t watch something if we are already part way through and have to continually press fast forward to get back to where we was.1 point
