  1. Fanart yes it will rotate. Portraits do not rotate and only server provides priority, so if you have both you will need to rename or remove to use the one you want.

  2. I hit "play all" on a collection and it doesn't show the next film in "Next Up" after I quit out of it. This is apparently intended behaviour, and the same applies to playlists. This is absurd. Why even have the "play all" option? Who's sitting down to watch a full collection's worth of films, or a full playlist? I have playlists for The Prisoner for its various episode orders, and there's no way I'm getting through them in one sitting. I was going to make that my next show to watch but if I'm going to have to keep track manually of my progress through the playlist it makes the playlist fairly pointless TBH. There's no reason playlists or collections shouldn't show up in Next Up.

  3. I know the answer to this is probably going to be no..... ...but.... A standalone music player for iOS would be very useful. Trying to get the wife to use the full client for music is just not happening. Something that was simple and intuative and quick and easy to use would be killer, something like spotify. The simpler the app is to use, the better. If all else fails, I have a project that's on the back burner that was an iOS music player for subsonic, but I could always target emby as well. It had an spotify a-like interface. Screenshot from as far as I got with the UI, it was playing back music from the server.

  4. Are there any plans for Android widgets in the next release? I would like to start using Emby for playing and casting music on my phone now that google play music is being discontinued and the replacement youtube music won't play with the phone screen off (!). In my limited testing today, Emby is working for this, but the user experience could be greatly enhanced by a widget or two that would give quick home screen access to playlists and control features. The UI could also use some improvements- when trying to scroll through a playlist with my right hand I always end up rearranging the song order.

  5. Am wondering whether it would be a good idea to divide up feature requests where possible to make things a bit easier to find. You could maybe divide by Live TV, music, interface, Android, Apple...or whatever that makes sense really.

  6. Hehe, I only meant "dumb" from the standpoint of HDR talking to the server. This is new to the server beta so the clients need a small adjustment to inform the server if it can play back HDR content or not.
    1 point
  7. The clients are not _that_ dumb actually. It will be up to the clients to tell the server whether they can deal with HDR content or whether they want the server to do the tone mapping in case that there's no other reason for the server to transcode. (when the server transcodes, it will always apply tone mapping when it is configured to do so, because transcoding means converting to H.264 where HDR isn't possible).

  8. No, not required. New nodes/design are already used via plugin menu. If you wanna use the new nodes also for a custom skin, it's required to mod the skin. Deleting the old nodes just makes it more transparent. The selection of nodes (while skin mod) were really confusing, even for me. The new ones are labeled unambiguous, have proper icons and also prepared for multi server support. Also music nodes are completely rewritten. btw, Dynamic nodes are next on my list

  9. Hi. If we did that, we couldn't have free apps for Premiere - or we'd have to maintain two separate apps which is a bigger confusion. The app store listing does denote in bold text how it works. Thanks.

  12. You are not actually paying for the app but rather you are paying for the app's rights to playback content served by an Emby server. That is why a premier license unlocks most apps while you have to pay for most apps if you do not have premier. It is just two different ways to pay for the same functionality.

  13. Thank you very much. I have installed the latest experimental version now. Seems to work as well for me.
    1 point
  14. New experimental version available. If you wanna perform a complete nodes test, you must manually delete the old ones. Delete the complete content of /home/quickmic/.kodi/userdata/library/* BE CAREFUL, DELETE OLD NODES WILL REQUIRE CUSTOM SKIN RECONFIGURATION, if you are using the old nodes! You can also keep the old nodes, they still should be functional.

  16. the thing i always find remarkable about these threads is that people value their own time so little. i charge myself out at way over the rate it would cost in time to switch from emby to plex as opposed to paying a $5 fee. but i guess some people are cheap in all senses of the word.

  17. @Kodi_Newcomer The error speaks for itself, devices is an array, you're missing a dash https://www.w3schools.io/file/yaml-arrays/.

  18. The Roku app is free the Fire TV app is not. The $4.98 is a one time fee to unlock playback for that account on all Fire devices. It is also required, separately, for Android devices. It is not new but you may have just avoided the charge for some time. (You may have had a Premier account at one time and the need for a charge just missed you for a while after your Premier expired. Emby made the Roku app free for everyone I think due to negative feed back when they tried to produce a paid app. It may also have been a problem with Roku's billing system or it could have Emby just being "good guys." My advice is to either get a Premier license or pay the one time fee. When I was first trying Emby I paid to unlock all my apps but after a short time I bought a lifetime Premier license. I did not expect or get a refund for the Fire or Emby apps. Five dollars, or ten if you need to activate an Android app as well, is little enough to pay for the use of Emby. I do not recommend going back to Plex as Plex is all about the money and you will, probably, get monetary hits of various kinds. Also the Plex universe is very different, in a bad way, from Emby's universe. But each to their own and I know people who are using Plex and are very pleased with it. There's no accounting for taste after all there are people that actually like spandex. Oh, there is another option. Get another Roku or three and forget about the Fire completely. You can get a Roku Premier for less than $40.00 and even an Ultra for under $85.00. There are often even better deals.

  20. Nobody wants to take their eyes off the TV during the show to find the "button" they're looking for. Simple, tactile buttons that click and are logically organized is all we need.. Personally, I prefer the 900's for the ability to mount small AndroidTV boxes on the back of TV's and control them without seeing them. I also like the Elite for it's ability to also control my Home Automation too but yes, it started to loose some important buttons to only have to program them onto the touch screen.

  21. I most definitely did NOT say that there was a fix for multiple PGS being displayed. I said there was a fix for dual layer PGS and suggested you try to see if it helped any for your situation and according to your report it does have a different result. I can't help if you and ebr misread my reply

  22. We Apple TV users have been waiting for this basic feature for a long time now. When we switched to using Apple TVs as our media players, (for reasons unimportant), I was shocked to discover this missing critical feature. It made my large movie database unusable. As a result we abandoned Emby in favour of Plex which DOES include it. I like Emby and would like to return from the Dark Side but until you pay attention to your Apple TV customers I must use what works.

  23. You still taking pull requests for this @Luke ? I have taken the liberty of fixing a few issues I had come across myself but would be willing to spend some time addressing other things in this space if there is a list of issues (aside from those on git) Should be ready for a pull request within the week - just wasn’t sure if you had any pre-requisites you needed before doing that. i know the team moved away from complete open source a while ago but assume plugins are still welcome as community contributions?

  24. Hat Dein File auch wirklich Kapitelmarker die EMBY erkannt hat? Hast Du die NFOs selber gebastelt oder ist das eine von EMBY? Was meinst Du mit eigene Intros?

  25. Sounds like a special character issue. Will be fixed in next version. btw. it's related to Kodi18 only. Meanwhile you can use the stable version or switch back to https://github.com/MediaBrowser/plugin.video.emby/archive/refs/tags/5.2.05.zip

  26. IMO, the best universal remote they made is the Harmony One and their sudden death is primarily a suicide which had been consequently planned over years. I'll explain: The one really outstanding and unparalleled feature of the Harmony One is...surely not its display...not its visual appearance...not its touch interface......it's the haptic design! If you don't know the model - don't bother looking up pictures. You must have had it in your hand. Despite its large number of buttons, it was incredibly easy and intuitive to operate, even when you're half sleeping. The IR lighting strength was extreme: while a Samsung or LG remote requires you to aim at the TV's bottom with no more than 20° deviation to work properly, you could just point into the opposite direction with the Harmony One (similar like other Harmony devices, but the "One" has been the "strongest"´). It has been a perfect match for WMC, one of the reasons being that it was the last Harmony to have separate buttons for Skip Next/Previous and FRwd/FFwd. For those who remember: In WMC, you had many ways to navigate in a video, pressing FRwd/FFwd short or long and then Skip-Buttons short, or Skip-Button long and then FRwd/FFwd short, etc. That wasn't possible anymore with later Harmony remotes, because they have those buttons combined, and to send one vs. the other, you need to press long or short under the remote control's control, which means, that the long/short operation of those buttons can't be transmitted as such (e.g. to WMC). I had also tried the Elite, but after 2 days I started buying used Harmony One models for spare. The Elite's signal is not as strong as the One's signal, but much worse than that: it has a delay between button press and signal sending (like 100-300ms) that the One doesn't have. The biggest mistake they made - IMO - was to go steep for touch operation. The problem is, that product managers often think that it's the right way for every product, because it's the "modern style" of user experience. So, they started removing more and more buttons and made the touch display bigger and bigger. And what comes at the end of that road? The remote control will simply converge to something that everybody already has: a smart phone! What I'm wondering: is that really what people want and expect from a remote control? Touch operation? For me, that's a clear 'No'. I don't need an additional inferior wannabee smart phone mockup. I rather want a remote control that perfectly fulfills its "job" as a remote control. The Elite has already gotten off-track in this regard and from there it just got worse.

  28. @justinrh The Store page always say when the App was originally "released". That means the day the app was put into the Store. The Store does not tell you when the App was last updates like on Android or iOS...that was a feature a back in the days of Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 but since W10 MS decided not to show that information anymore. If you're still curious, you can use WP Snitch to get any apps "last updated" date. Currently for Emby it says the last update was on the 06 April I personally really like to use the Store app but often need to go back to the desktop app because of format support...my server can transcode without issue (even high bitrate 4K media) but HDR doesn't work at all with transcoding.

  29. Right now, only icons from Google's Material Design Icon Rounded font set are available. I do hope to offer users the ability to add their own icons in the future. This is how that feature would work:

  30. Okay, the system is reporting no support for Dolby and that is causing it to convert on the server in that version. The next version of the app will behave differently and decode it locally. There is also some sort of network issue as there was a timeout at one point during your playback which cause another fallback to transcoding. 31. I believe we used to do this but stopped because they have like 20 tags on every item with ridiculous levels of detail and varying levels of accuracy. This just created a mess like genres from them used to. For instance, I think this is one of the old ones we got from tmdb:

  32. Personally, the lack of this feature made me switch to plex with a broken heart after 5 years of Emby and a lifetime license. But for tv shows, skipping intros is mandatory once you are used to it.

  33. I think I just figured it out...finally. The problem appears to be folder naming. Seems I have to use network paths like this: \\brix\movies2, where before I had \\server\brix\movies. "brix" is computer running Emby Server. It's a Gigabyte mini-computer with an AMD Ryzen cpu. I'll continue working with this to see if Emby scans all the files. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated, made me think harder and look closer. What I had before was only only part of a library scanning. With the Emby client on my 65" Samsung the layout and information is just beautiful, plenty of movie information, etc., and the best part is I can control with the Samsung remote. I was beginning to think that I would have to get one super large hard drive to hold all the movies. Thank you, again, for helping. I may be the happiest new Emby user of all.
