Oh, for a quick test COPY the two files down to a local HDD (real drive) and add that path to a library. If they show up on a scan it's clear where the issue is.3 points

Request No. 1: Implement Metascore rating for movies, from Metacritic.com, in Emby. OMDb api provides this information. Request No. 2: Also, fix an option in settings to enable or disable a ratings source according to the user's choice.2 points

Since you're on an old version it's probably trying to unpack an update to the latest version. If you were to wait it should eventually finish.2 points

I don't think 2FA needs to be a one stop solution to securing emby. An incremental step forward to support 2FA for those users who have already secured their servers through SSL certs etc would be a step in the right direction. I'd vote against any plex style domain / certificate process personally.2 points

I mentioned it in another thread, but thought I'd put it here since this looks like a new section--just for posterity. Would like to have a bulk meta data editor function. For example, if I have 750 videos whose producing studio is the same, I want to select those videos and apply the name of the studio to those videos. Similarly, if there is a custom tag I want to apply to a subset of those movies, I want to be able to select them in bulk and apply the tag to those videos (instead of selecting them one by one).1 point

It appears that any playlist that any user creates is public--all other users can see it. I can appreciate the benefit of a public playlist. I could create a playlist called "Harv's Favorite Horror Films" for example, in case other users are interested in checking out what I like. However, the way most of my users are using playlists is to keep track of things they want to watch in the future. They are typically things that the user has not watched yet, so it's not meant as a recommendation to others, just as a way of them personally keeping track of what they want to watch. Having that kind of playlist be public is of questionable benefit to other users. Additionally, it is not clear when you create a playlist that other users will be able to see it. That has the potential to cause some embarrassment. He hasn't created one yet, but I wouldn't want to see my nephew's "movies to fap to" playlist, for example. If I could make a suggestion, I would suggest associating each playlist with the user who created it, and giving that user the ability to make the playlist private or public. For example, the following two checkboxes could be shown when creating or editing a playlist: Allow other users to see this playlist Allow other users to edit this playlist Initially, both checkboxes would be unchecked. Since another user cannot edit a playlist they cannot see, the second would be allowed to be checked only if the first were also checked. (You could grey it out to make that clear.) Depending on your UI preference, it could also be a drop-down menu. Playlist visibility: (Only me | all users can view | all users can view and edit) Thanks for considering this.1 point

Hey everyone, First off: great program! Recommended Emby to all my friends and I know a few have bought Premiere after being so impressed, keep up the great work! I was wondering if it's possible to add in the ability to fully clear the "Continue Watching" section in a single go? Unfortunately I have issues with the Xbox One app sometimes crashing during playback where it no longer responds to controller/remote inputs, although the video continues to play fine. This causes the episode to appear under the "Continue Watching" section as Emby believes I stopped watching part way through. I know I can clear each episode manually by using the web interface, selecting each episode and clicking "Play" and then stop, but this has been an ongoing issue so I've already cleared out what feels like 100 partly watched episodes and the list keeps going! I wish I'd just kept on top of this from the beginning! If a feature could be implemented where you can basically clear or reset all videos currently flagged as "Continue Watching" that would be great. Even better would be the ability to configure Emby so it automatically clears the partly watched status on a video if it remains in that state for say 7-14 days (If this is user configurable even better). I know personally, if I've only partly watched an episode and a week or two goes by, I won't be able to continue off where I left it without forgetting parts of the story. Thanks, M_Taylor401 point

While Emby already has recommendations built in based on previously watched items I find they are not all that helpful. They seem to be based on genre only, for example, because you watched a comedy here are other comedies in your library. I do like how the also directed by/appear in recommendations work though. What would be great is if Emby could incorporate Trakt's recommendations as they are much more sophisticated. Trakt's recommendations are not only based off of what you have previously watched but also what your Trakt friends and other Trakt users have watched. It takes user ratings and trending/popular media into account. Ideally Emby would include full Trakt integration allowing users to rate media after watching, view lists and recommendations, and view upcoming media all from within Emby but for now I think recommendations would be a nice addition. Trakt has the potential to give Emby that community feel and allow users to discover new media, find something to watch, and recommend media to other users. http://docs.trakt.apiary.io/#reference/recommendations1 point

Don't know how many of you know what PseudoTV is on Kodi but basically it is a plugin that allows you to create an EPG full of your own custom TV channels using your entire media library into one big channel surfing experience on your library. Emby, I believe, would be amazing for this and really make it stand out if something like this was official supported as the only support for something like this is a little plugin on Kodi. Features: Create custom TV channels using smart filters (e.g. 500 random movies that are from 2010 and newer and genre is Horror, 25 random tv episodes that are from Fox network). Allow creation of an unlimited number of channels using these filters and assign them channel numbers Automatically generate an EPG/TV Guide using all of these custom channels and randomly assign the scheduled program at a specific time Allow sorting of the channel shows (random, in order, asc, desc) Allow channels like FX to play both TV shows from FX but also incorporate movies at specific time periods like primetime movies Allow trailers to play in between shows as well as Channel Bumpers/intro videos Allow integration with Live TV using PVR Allow YouTube channels, USTVNOW, Playon perhaps? Ability to add a logo to your custom channels Background updating that would auto generate / update all the channels and shows after a specific period of time And so on1 point

FROM THE OFFICIAL REDDIT THREAD Thought I'd share. This is a great resource for Emby and hopefully in the future it can be implemented automatically.1 point

I completely understand that - can't please everyone. But you also can't stand still. I used to rip all my DVDs as VIDEO_TS to preserve the original formats, but now it's all been converted to MKVs because no one supports VIDEO_TS anymore. Including Emby. User-adjustable options are one solution here. It's been a while since I've used Kodi but I seem to recall that they have options for users to select how content is marked as New or Watched in the library view. The default could be the current settings, so people who like the current setup wouldn't be impacted, but the rest of us could make some tweaks. Just a thought.1 point

There is Premiere and no Premiere, payment plan is irrelavent. Your Premiere key should not change unless you change email address, I believe. But if your Premiere key does change yes it will affect Premium plugins. But you should be able to work all this out with Embybilling and the plug devs.1 point
-
Hi. If your key changed, yes that would mean that we'd need to transfer the plug-ins over. However, changing subscriptions won't change your key as long as you keep the same email address. Does that answer your question?1 point

The good news is I added a new serie, didn't like the backdrop scraped by Emby, and changed it with tmm. Started Kodi a few minutes later, and Kodi nicely showed the new backdrop. Thia scenario almost always resulted in no backdrop with previous E4K versions.1 point

I accepted defeat on trying to recover the old server, just restarted again, so annoying but no matter what I tried it could not recover the old system, manual log in returned invalid username/password, also in the log in area my user name (server name) wasn't listed connect I didn't try as it would only connect to the new server the system had created. Nxemby001 all files including meta and logs were lost. Cayars Thanks for the offer but it's too late now, started from scratch again , but thanks anyway. ebr I looked to see if there was an update, and there was two days ago, I think this may be the cause, as I run that computer 24/7 and only restart to finish the installation of updates to the server, I assume that windows update files on restart also, so this would only take effect after the reboot. as a precaution I have now disabled auto updates from windows. Thanks for all the support from posters it is greatly appreciated.1 point

Oh no i could of sworn i saw luke had put that they were concurrent, that would have been ok, but the 25 is the total number of devices , and no way to limit uses to a set amount of devices, crazy, someone could stick emby on 15 devices and id be left with 10 for everyone else, such a shame, id be safer going with plex and having 15 users. and unlimited devices. you must be loosing so many customers with that setup, cheers.1 point

I will send a log if a fc is needed. I have only a very limited number of plugins installed. Now with E4K a few i don't need anymore and a few simply don't work with the non kodi db. The only plugin i really miss is Janitor.1 point

I had this happening multiple times in the past month. It happened in my case when an incremental sync never seemed to finish, but the entries were already added to the Kodi DB. So on next boot, it did the same incremental sync again, adding duplicates of all media files in that sync to the DB. On next boot the same thing. So when I now click on any of these newly added files, I get a selection box like above with 3 times the same file. All of them all play fine, as they are internally most likely pointing to the same file on the server.1 point

Yes i was able to reset the password . Well i was able to able to login even before changing the password just that i hadn't received any verification email . I think its fine since i can successfully reset password1 point

Yes Emby will add them via UI as fanartx.jpg, but if you manually put a image fanartx.jpg in folder it is not recognized, and using fanart-x.jpg is recognized. tested in 4.5.4.0 per the KB fanartx requires extrafanart folder, even though the server is creating them now. Backdrop backdrop.ext, backdropX.ext fanart.ext, fanart-X.ext background.ext, background-X.ext art.ext, art-X.ext extrafanart (subfolder)/fanartX.ext1 point

That's saying your host OS is still on 11.3. Are you 100% positive the TrueNAS update completed? Like you see the new naming and such when you sign on? From the shell try running iocage update all and then run the iocage upgrade command to upgrade the emby jail.1 point

For starters you should read through the permissions thread linked below. But DO NOT go straight to the "solution" post. IMO it is not the solution, only works for very specific conditions and should not have been marked as such in the first place.1 point

It depends - if you are trying to stream multiple high bitrate 4K files or transcoding for example while copying 100's of GB's worth of data to a single drive - then yes, it is going to struggle - but this is a bottleneck of your I/O system - it has nothing to do with Emby. In this scenerio, you need to split the I/O across multiple drives so they have the ability to work in parallel, rather than having to wait for the drive to finish it's I/O operation - ie sequential.1 point

have never seen this issue at all - and i have copied thousands of files to my server while it was active and with rtm ON if you server has issues with this - its not emby1 point

Before you undo the firmware update, would you mind testing the beta version of the app to see if it corrects this problem? Thanks.1 point
-
I have two channels of which I know don't play well on MiBox s. The latest beta server / app combinations have smoothed things up and allow CC's when transcoding with Allow Stream Copy unchecked in the LiveTV settings in the app. Load time for me is about 6 seconds or a bit longer, not over 10. If you don't want to force S/W transcoding in the app, make sure the Allow Stream Copy box is checked. This will give faster playback.1 point

Cherry pie is where its at. I absolutely agree Emby is in much better state than jellyfin but that is totally expected and anyone that thought otherwise was just deluding themselves. However jellyfin is a different project than emby, yes they are both media servers but jellyfin is catering to a very different audiences than emby and I believe both projects can and will co-exists reasonably successfully.1 point

Tools like Radarr and Sonarr would provide this functionality as well.1 point

They have to be open source since that's the license they inherited with the source code. They have no choice over the matter. It of course will work ok at the server level as it's built on an older version of Emby. But Emby has improved many things from that version such is the transcoding engine, now customized version of Exo player, etc. Jellyfin has some nice things for sure but it's no V5 Emby. Around the corner is a new Live TV that will be game changing for many Live TV users. Of course those are server features. Emby has really nice apps and clients which are in a completely different level of functionality to those from Jellyfin which falls way short in this regard. Anyone using Live TV in the US, CA or UK is most likely paying for Guide Data which is included with Emby. The lifetime license of Emby for those users actually pays for itself. Some people also feel like purchasing an Emby Premiere License is a worthwhile investment and they feel it's worth compensating developers for the work they do. Emby in turn is adding people to the project to help it's customers as well. Heck we even do remote help with people. As far as the last line I quoted. My question to you is, why are you hear then? Go do your work on Jellyfin and enjoy the Emby Fruits you got for free. Maybe a thank you?1 point

Emby Folks, Please Please Please consider supporting a license mode where Emby can work in full "Premier" mode and all the Apps can work when Emby is mostly (permanently) off line. I want to pay for Emby (in fact I have) but this needing to be online is really painful for us. I KNOW the world is mostly connected but there is and always will be disconnected scenarios. Plex has failed this scenario totally which is why we moved to Emby but Emby Premier only "mostly" works off line ... Much like the Navy Ship scenario above we deploy Emby to Jets, Yachts, Buses, etc. where the Emby Server is almost never on line. Some of these do not have ANY internet, other do but it's EXTREMELY expensive ($16,000/month for Internet service @5-10Mbps). So we will only connect the Server to the internet very infrequently for software installation/maintenance. Ideally we verify and lock a license into a server at one these setup/maintenance periods. Ideally the license would be for a specific "named" server and only for that Server. I'm willing to buy a license per server and have it locked to that Server. The only scenarios where I'd ever need to be able to move the license to a different physical machine in in the case of machine failure / hardware upgrades. I'm more than willing to have Emby on line during the initial license process to validate and create some key for that specific machine to insure that I'm not assigning the license to multiple machines. I'm also happy to live with various restrictions to limit the capabilities for the license and pay more for higher capabilities. For example we probably don't ever need more than 15-20 simulations streams including Web streams, etc. That might be an even better way to license in some ways than the current model as you can control total clients that way even from web browsers. I'd really like to solve this problem and spend more money with Emby but as it stand today Premier's current licensing doesn't work for our case.1 point
