  1. That is correct. They didn't do anything illegal and the only thing I've seen them do that I object to on "morality" grounds is the removal of attribution comments from our original code so that it looks like they created it instead of us. Overall, it is on us for allowing all of our hard work to be put out there for the taking.

  2. Mixed libraries have been converted to 2 since the original E4K. I always assumed that was the only way it could do it since Kodi doesn't have a mixed db option. If you used Kodi's library straight up without Emby, there is no way to do a mixed library to my knowledge. I think it's a Kodi shortcoming, not an issue with E4K.

  3. Is it a bit ironic however to basically do a fork because you don't want to make a donation to the authors work, but then accept donations yourself? A lot of people feel that way but that is the nature of the license. It used to bother me more personally then it does today. With each new beta release of Emby it just pulls away from JF a bit more with more refined features and clients as well as enhancements and new features. I think the last major update JF had was back in July and most of that was things Emby had already done right after the fork. A lot of features JF has on paper just don't compare to the same feature in Emby. Case in point is Tone mapping. If they could of, they would have. LOL Why build a framework from the ground up when you can just "borrow it"? "borrow it"?

  7. The "emby discord" is a toxic place inhabited by jellyfin users, they seem to think they're enittled to stuff for free. When you create an open-source project, you have to accept that somewhere down the line it may be forked by somebody who has different ideas or a different vision to you. The unfortuate thing for Emby was that the license validation was part of the source releases and that allowed it to be circumvented very easily. Clearly that was not in the spirit of the license granted by Emby for the source code, a license of emby itself is cheap, so with people doing this I totally get why they went closed source. However, Jellyfin forked a version which they are entitled to do, I have absolutely zero interest in Jellyfin. I have a lifetime license of Emby and also Plex, I was a Plex user for many years but the continued development of crapware and the not fixing of long term bugs, I switched to Emby after it went closed source. I had been trying Emby every so often and finally I felt it had reached a point where it worked better than Plex did. (I still use Plex for serving music because of the dedicated Plexamp app) I have no issues with the way Emby looks, looks fine to me.

  8. They stole nothing - its part of the license emby was distributed under at the time allowed anybody to fork it and use it you need to educate yourself and stop pushing rubbish

  9. @Luke If I may insist, the Kodi app forum requires some quick tidying up of its pinned threads. Unless I'm mistaken, those 2 circled in red are not so relevant anymore, while this very one (embyforkodi 5.x.x preview) is not properly named (should be Emby Next Gen) and should not only be pinned, but put on top.

  10. "Freely" isn't the word I would use. When you start circumventing things like license or premium features for more than your own use and forking with a name change and ONLY license changes that's pretty blatant. It's one thing to remove "donationware" messages/badges for your own use or to open up features intended for those that did donate by bypassing flags but when you essentially put out a donationware version by "hacking" it and making it available to everyone else even though you didn't have any time invested other than the simple hack, well you have the start of JF. While technically legal, it's highly immoral to do that for sure. Like a good cook making an apple pie (or crumble) you get a few bad spots in your fruit, you cut that out so it doesn't ruin the whole pie. Emby adapted it's recipe moving forward and made a better pie. Bad analogy I'm sure but now I went and made myself hungry for a good piece of pie.

  12. I'd really like to have 2 Factor Authentication added to the login screen. It's just this (optional) extra layer of security to help secure the server (which, especially if people use camera uploads) contains pretty private data. There are for every type of programming language quite a few libraries available, so implementation on a server shouldn't be too hard to realise

  13. Hi everybody, is ist possible to implement native AirPlay (2) Support for the iOS Devices. I ´ve tested it and for now ist seems only work for Audio. Maybe it Wohle also be possible to implement the „Multipeer Connectivity Framework“ from Apple. So ist would be possible to stream synced Content from the iPhone to any AirPlay Reciever without an existing Network. >>>Multipeer Connectivity<<<

  15. My ability to create youtube videos has much to be desired. Putting my terrible video production abilities aside, I am putting together some tutorials on how to setup a development environment to create plugins for emby, on youtube. This is video 1. Like I say, I'm not very good at video creation, but since the world still doesn't seem to need to employ chefs full time, this seemed like a fun time to try it out.

  16. Hi Guys, I recently moved from Kodi with MySQL for lack of proper multi user management and server side support, I have to say I'm impressed with Emby. Together with the Kodi Plugin it really takes the solution to a whole new level, count me in among the supporters! One feature I would like to see is the ability to recommend movies or shows to other users: I share my Library with close friends and family but it is a big library so they are always calling me to recommend them a movie to watch. It would be really cool if after watching a movie I can click a Recommend button and choose the users I think would like the movie, then it is displayed on their suggested movies at the top with the name of the user who recommended it... Sorry if there is something like this is already there, I am new to the interface and don't fully know it but could not find such feature... Thanks!

  18. Injection of Live TV m3u and EPG to IP TV Simple from Emby server is on my todo list, but no high priority. Not sure if this is on your agenda. If yes we can collaborate on that. I'm already using it on my Kodi Boxes as a manual approach.

  19. I think that fixed it! What's odd is, I noticed 2 other shows were updated last night as they were released, while that Resident Alien show was stuck showing only 2 episodes. But rolling back the sync date fixed the issue with Resident Alien, showing all 8 episodes now. Thank you so much for your help and response!!!!

  21. @sharrisct25@hotmail.com You can try turning off the Extend's hardware encoding (both in the Extend settings and in the Emby Tuner settings) and see if that helps. I recently did that and I think things work a bit smoother and the picture quality is better! I am thinking maybe it's just easier to transcode from the native mpeg2 (than from a mpeg4)? I have had issues like you see too although mine usually aren't so bad. I have 6 Rokus myself; with them being so stable and with the family already use to the UI I'd rather not switch. Typically mine takes a bit to start playing and afterwards only buffers one more time -- then things are usually good. For Emby Server I have a HP PC with a i7-6700 processor (with Intel HD Graphics 530) and also a Nvidia GeForce GT 730 (with 2gb of ram) and the system has 16gb of ram. It appears Emby is using the Intel for the hardware acceleration but not sure how this is being decided?

  22. @quickmicbeen playing with 5.02.04 on my Win10 test machine today and it's stable as rock. I also have Emby and tmm nicely working together now. Time to move my 2 operational Kodi setups (Nvidia Shield and Fire TV)) to E4K. Thanks again for al the great work you are doing here.

  24. Wrong file, can anybody else drop the correct link for Android? I don;t use it.

  25. I think that would be very interesting. These days with high end GPUs the cost to transcode isn't much and of course if it were only a remux then that can be done very easily again if needed. To me the challenge would be non index base files like TS which could make rewinding to a specific spot non precise but livable. It would be cool to be able to use a 16 or 32 GB ram drive and know Emby is making the best use of the space as possible. With just a tad bit of "cleanup smarts" it would be really useful. By this I mean keep ram disk 95% full (a bit of working room), delete remux packets first keeping only X amount of packet (5 to 10 mins worth), then cleanup GPU based transcodes and lastly cleanup packets from CPU transcodes but the whole thing dynamic. That would allow the greatest chance of having more "expensive to produce" packets in the RAM disc. This would also solve Live TV issues where a person turns on the TV at night and falls a sleep or bing watches news channels all day long. With some decent cleanup logic any small SSD like 100GB would be plenty of space and never run out of space!

  26. Just use IP TV Simple PVR Addon in Kodi and it should work. E4K Live TV channels are just dynamic links, it is not really PVR, there is no Kodi PVR client for Emby server. With the new PVR API in Kodi V19, maybe somebody will write one. Just to be clear, MediaImport does not prevent you from using any Kodi video addon. You could still install E4K and use the Live TV in it

  27. Dynamic libraries are just the way the addon (E4K) sees the libraries until they are synced into the KODI .db file. I'm syncing them into the KODI .db file. I only referred this because it's what the addon can see, for debug purposes. I dont stream/transcode from my server either. I use native playback My internet plan has nothing to do with this but thanks for quoting my sig Internet is cheap where I live

  28. Success. I only played the first 5 minutes, but it appears Emby converted the file without any issues.

  30. Unless you skip back further than that... In the future we will look to optimize it to do a better job of managing the space but it currently does it on a per-session basis.

  35. Okay, yup. Went back to the source file and that plays fine on my shield. I had used an outside program to convert it last time, but I'll try to convert within emby this time.

  36. Personally, there is no need to use an SSD for the temp files used for transcoding. Not only is the write/read of these files linear (it is not random, so seek performance is not a problem) but you are also massively wearing out your SSD by writing GB's worth of data to them for no performance gain. For cache/db etc - then yes SSD gives a massive performance gain, but move the temp transcode area to a normal HDD if you can - you will see zero degraded performance vs SSD (unless it's the same HDD used by other high I/O system activity). I use a general 'swap/junk' disk for this purpose.

  37. Hi. Did you do this? I, like cayars, suspect the encoding of the item due to the errors being reported by ffmpeg. When you play in the browser, ffmpeg is correcting those errors.

  41. Try set the sync date back a few days: Shutdown Kodi, open and manipulate the following files: /home/quickmic/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.emby-next-gen/settings.xml open it, search the following line: <setting id="LastIncrementalSync">2021-03-07T08:14:08z</setting> set the date one or two days back (before you modified/added the episodes). open this file: /home/quickmic/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.emby-next-gen/sync.json manipulate this line: "Date": "2021-03-07T08:13:20Z" Also one or two days back. restart Kodi and check. DON'T manipulate the files when Kodi is running. They get overwritten on exit.

  46. geting together at christmas, with all the family wishing to display their photos, it became apparent there was some useful functionality missing from emby. people have already requested an option to control slideshow speed. apple iphotos has a useful function to convert exif geolocation not only into nearest town eg london but also to pick out the actual attraction eg london zoo. grouping by location in ui and displaying location information in ui and slideshow would be good. i dont know if there any free providers for reverse geocoding. https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/geocoding-reverse ordering by date (displaying those dates) and grouping by location (displaying those locations) is very useful when consuming photo content. option to display photo titles in slideshow in particular. ie if you go to the trouble of adding an exif description or filename, this can be displayed. the option exists to display photo title in ui but not on slideshow. (there is an aditional feature request within above for the photo library 'scanner' to assign photo title in order of preference eg. ..1. embedded exif data 2. filename.) aa well as option to display title and location, an option to display photo date in slideshow would be good. the priority is an option to display the photo title in slideshow thanks for considering. 48. I don't think this FR is completely without merit. Some basic chat facility would be useful, as my understanding would be that is specific to users of one server, not a global thing. It would be most useful to admins, to deliver information such as scheduled restarts, system maintenance, etc... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  49. In the case of a Live TV channel, I think this is something we can do. Much harder for other content as we aren't always in control of the playback experience at the server level - so that would first be a requirement.
