Emby Team, Can you let me know if you will be working on option to remove commercials while recording in Emby? Your main competitor has this feature and was hoping Emby is also working on it. Thank you.2 points

I'd really like to have 2 Factor Authentication added to the login screen. It's just this (optional) extra layer of security to help secure the server (which, especially if people use camera uploads) contains pretty private data. There are for every type of programming language quite a few libraries available, so implementation on a server shouldn't be too hard to realise1 point

If you go to an individual Movie or show, and click on Edit subtitles, there is an option to return only Forced subtitles. This option is not available in subtitle configuration in the Library section. Would be great if this could be added there, so only download forced subtitles for shows/movies. Or better would be to add it as an option of "Forced subtitles for language matching audio language". Seems most of this functionality is already in place, just needs to be linked up. If it helps, I would like to offer a bounty on this option. I can personally add $100 to bounty for it.1 point

I suggested in a totally different thread a bit ago about possibly adding Discogs as a meta fetcher... https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/79280-duplicate-music-artists-entries-how-to-get-rid-of-them/ That thread has had a few +1 reply posts. As such i figured adding it to the feature requests was the proper way to gauge interest. If you have used MP3tag you should be familiar with Discogs. Its a GREAT alternative to Musicbrainz.1 point

Please add a "next item" button on every level. Now it's really annoying when you use emby to resume watchin a TV show. You click on the show to get to the season level, click on the season to get to the episode level, you pick the episode where you left off before by clicking on the play button on the episode...and there's not "next item" button in the player controls. Only if you click on "play all from here" in the dashboard on an episode level you'll get a "next item" button. To make this completely confusing: If you're on the homepage of the dashboard and hit "play all from here" on an item in the "Continue watching" section of the homepage - no "next item" button. Please just add one no matter how you start playing a TV show. edit: After some talk in this thread I clarified the title. It's all about adding an auto-queue feature without the need to turn on the auto-play feature so you'll always have a skip button available when playing the episode of a TV show.1 point

Hi, In order to find easily an item in our large librairies, it could be great to have the possibility to import a playlist from imdb/trakt. This way we could easily create playlists like 10001 movies to see before you die or Academy Award for Best Picture for our current movies in our libraries. Bonus : List all missing movies for a specific playlist I found a script doing this for Plex but can't find how to adapt it for Emby or a way to import Plex playlists to Emby I hope someone will find this useful and want to help implementing this.1 point

I don't have a dedicated room for a proper home theater so I just have to work with my living room. I don't plan on putting a lot of money into the build, around $3k, so I'm going to do a 5.1.2 system. The plans: stick with current Samsung 55" 4k TV Denon AVR-X3700H ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 Bookshelf Speakers (front sides and back sides, I don't have a layout that would work with floor speakers) ELAC Debut 2.0 C6.2 Center Speaker ELAC Debut 2.0 A4.2 Dolby Atmos Modules ELAC Debut 2.0 SUB3030 1000 Watt Powered Subwoofer More info and pictures coming soon....1 point

So I've installed emby on a new android tv device and cannot unlock the app because it's already owned. By me. I cannot playback any item and the error message suggest me to unlock the app. A little help would be nice1 point

We should get that information added to the ffmpeg log so that we can determine this without the main server log.1 point

Any changelogs so I'll know when you've implemented it. Hopefully soon.1 point

OK, I would try re-setting them up in emby library setup.1 point

OK, this should be improved for the next release of the server, thanks.1 point

When browsing the list of movies, and you mouse over one it would be really helpful if you could display the genre and critique. thanks1 point

Hi, as a test, if you rename your S1 folder to Season 1, then run a library scan, does that help?1 point

Yup, a new TV. Okay so basically wait for the updated app and in the meantime, create a conversion from my computer. I found another thread that with eARC I would need to use an external device like my nvidia shield, which I could totally do that as well. https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001984861-why-does-the-emby-app-for-my-lg-tv-not-play-the-dolby-atmos-truehd-audio-without-transcoding- I appreciate the responses!1 point

only with third party back end providing an m3u or with a emby plugin at present. i use the same variety (not brand) of card and i also use it with dvbviewer providing an m3u. emby next gen tv will support natively when it comes1 point

What Trakt does depends on how it is configured. You can sync watched and unwatched or you can, as I usually do, sync just sync watched. I also do not sync my movies as I do not care if movies get marked watched or unwatched. I figure if I do not remember watching a movie then watching it will be much like watching it for the first time. If it is new to me then it is new for all intents and purposes. The only problem you may run into is that it is possible for timing to cause syncing to be incomplete. That is if A has watched a show and B has partially watched the same show. Then if B updates Trakt before A that episode may show as partially watched instead of watched for both users. This is controlled best by proper settings as to when an update of Trakt occurs and that is set by configuring multiple triggers in scheduled tasks. While it is not perfect I have found Trakt to be quite satisfactory in keeping episode viewing synced between systems. There are many settings for the Trakt plugin and it will require some experimenting to get everything perfect. Note: be sure to correctly check the directories you want to keep in sync. It is an exclusion system any checked directory will not be monitored or synced.1 point

Thanks, I just set that kodi network delay to 10 seconds, and that seems to have helped. One other thing I noticed is happening is that the E4kNG pop up that says welcome now only flashes for a very short time (like a 10th of a second), and my profile picture on embuary no longer shows up at the top right. It was working maybe a week ago (using matrix), so not sure if that's an embuary bug or E4kNG bug. I've attached a log just in case. kodi.log1 point

What would work best for me would be to retain the language selection, but have an additional check-box for "Also select undetermined". That way I'd get the right language in places it's specified, and typically the expected ones when it is not. Paul1 point

Very much agree with this. I worked hard on my metadata to make it work well with the new requirements, it would be very disappointing if functionality is lost due to one person that hasn’t met these standards1 point
-
What will this actually mean - as Artist is usually a string of text rather than a formatted list of artists which is what Artists is used for along with the mbz_ArtistID e.g. "Amy Winehouse & Tony Bennett" is not an artist Are we making a change for one user with "poor" metadata that will affect everybody???1 point

Unrelated to the issue but .. RAID 0 I hope you have a backup of all your media .. as if one disk fails, you will lose all the data on both drives. If you don't want redundancy, fine, just use 2 x JBOD disks with emby, that way, if a single disk fails, then at least you only lose 50% of your overall data.1 point

Just a quick note/bug report: if you generate a new device ID and try to reset the database afterwards Emby becomes unresponsive. Only way to fix this is to uninstall Emby and remove its settings, then reinstall.1 point

How many users have this setting applied? You can not remove this setting from everyone, there has to a minimum of one. May need to see a server log.1 point

Thanks for your comments, I like the work around. I just copy my Audiobooks to my SD card (cuz I have an Android) over my LAN and use Smart AudioBook player. My relatives (those that I share my library with and why I purchased Emby) are technically challenged. I have to walk them through the installation of the program and that alone took hours (of course, they are over 70 years old). So, this shite is like rocket surgery. Not to mention I live in another state and its the middle of a quarantine. Jeez, I had to make a "How to" video and then come to find out Emby Audiobook functionality sucks. Now they think Emby is a terrible program (and that's why you fix your shite). Emby with functioning audiobook support would have opened a new world for them. Like most 70 year old's, they don't trust Amazon\Audible (cuz Alexa\Echo of which they do not own) so I cant focus them there. I am going to attempt to configure Booksonic then try to get a refund . All I want to do is loan my books out to my family during a quarantine while they're stuck at home. Why is this so hard? I love how digital media has simplified my life.1 point

Hi. Just FYI for the reader. If you forget to cancel before starting the new one, it won't be a problem. The payment system will try your old card about 4 times across about a week. After that it will give up.1 point

Now if you want. Not forgetting I just use it, which isn't really the same as knowing what I'm doing.1 point

Hi, yes we'll certainly look at supporting it. I don't have a definitive answer to the performance question yet.1 point

Hi there @fern_cabin, currently you can't play directly on the google nest hub. We are working on adding support for this. Thanks for the feedback.1 point

iso files? There's the reason, it' ancient and far out dated technology. ISO disc images really don't belong in the streaming world. Emby can do certain things with them but you should be converting these files on your own to streaming formats such as mp4 files. We don't live in the 1980s any more. Not that you don't already know how I personally feel about them, LOL, but I'd be tickled Emby Green if support for them was dropped as they are always a source of issue for people.1 point

I've put together a list of thoughts I've gathered from my own experience and from other users' input. Some thoughts about what audiobook support is missing in Emby: Top priority features: store album position (not just track position) and when starting the album, go to that track/position instead of track 1 adjustable playback speed (a dealbreaker for me, but some might disagree) when "continue listening" is used, queue up entire album into "now playing" "Nice to have" features (in no particular order): Finish distinguishing media type from Music (still says "latest music" in web, and when downloading on mobile, it puts audiobooks in the "Music" folder, and other similar relics) limit saved progress to one track per album. (That way when you resume an album, there's clearly one place you mean for it to resume from. If you play a few minutes of chapter one, then realize you already finished that chapter and start the next track, you want it to save the progress in track 2, and forget that you played half of chapter 1.) metadata agent for matching artwork and descriptions separate metadata fields for author AND narrator multiple author tags that can allow books to appear under both authors handling of non-square cover art keep track of "in progress" or "continue watching" audiobook albums (add to home screen similar to movies, and create "recently listened books/albums" and "Recently added books/albums" in "Audiobooks" library type, instead of recently added/played tracks as it is now) skip ahead/back in larger (or custom) increments (e.g. 1 minute; currently an app-wide setting) and perhaps separate buttons for small and large jumps (keep 10 second button, but add a new 1 minute or 3 minute button) apply skipping ahead/back to progress in the album, not just the track, i.e. if you're ten seconds into a track and you press "skip back 1 minute" then allow it to go back to before the end of the previous track. Sometimes track boundaries are arbitrary. go back a few seconds automatically when resuming, especially after a long pause or being stopped (restart the word/phrase; could be an optional setting; would be nice for video as well...) sleep timer to stop playback after a given amount of inactivity remember furthest played position in book/album (similar to furthest read position on Kindle) so that if you accidentally start over, or have to jump back for something, you can jump forward to the autosaved furthest location again enable resetting of furthest played position, if you want to start a book over, or accidentally jumped to the end display album duration on album info page show album progress/total duration in playback screen, not just track progress/duration allow shuffling albums, not just tracks somehow account for series of books, perhaps a new tag to account for being in a series and what number in the series. Thus when you finish book one, it can suggest book 2. Perhaps add a "series" view similar to collections. Somehow also account for some books being in multiple series (e.g. book 12 of series A is also book 2 of the spinoff series). Somehow also account for different books in a series having different authors. Just my thoughts, but those top three or four would be enough for me to switch to Emby full time for my audiobook needs. And the rest would take it from "workable" to awesome. Many of these could be summed up as: treat audiobook albums as a single media item for most purposes (showing progress/duration, storing resume position, marking as complete, jumping forward/backward, showing recommendations of albums instead of random tracks, shuffling albums instead of tracks, recently played albums instead of tracks, queue up album instead of track when resuming, etc.)1 point

Hi! I suggest a Premium plugin/feature that would make Emby more powerful and not require expensive high end systems that are hard to scale, just to manage transcoding or syncing a few streams simultaneously, especially going down the 4K/HDR/x265 etc. paths... Most common use case would be if you run Emby server on a weak NAS that isn't powerful enough to transcode, maybe at all. This would definitively make Emby a more economical and feasible solution to many, being able to use already available hardware and not worry about getting a powerful enough server. So, lets make some use of that old laptop or desktop computer, that could be hiding anywhere in the house assuming a decent connection (i.e wired). Create a plugin for Embyserver. Why not call it "DisTrac" or similar? Create a standalone application/app, that basically just runs in the background, in the tray or as a service on another LAN connected PC. OR embed the functionality in to the Theater apps or as a plugin for them! Don't do any fancy splitting/joining, just hand out full jobs to each "node". In theory, it's plug and play with the defaults, get the server plug in, run Emby Theater or the app on a machine in the local network, and you now have more transcoding power, to be used for any client or sync job. Detailed suggested way for doing it The standalone app/or Theater will basically have no settings except for a prompt that asks for the Emby server name/IP (with Theater even simpler as the server is already known). It will be built with an identical ffmpeg setup as what comes with the Emby server, and once registered as a transcoding client with the server, it'll be configured by and execute the commands it receives. Maybe a local setting to choose hardware acceleration, but most settings from current Transcoding page, and any extra features from the plugin page. In theory maybe existing ways of streaming/sending files from the server can be used, and the transcoding client could actually have a reduced copy of the Emby server functionality for making the result available to the main server (both ends client and server but the Emby Server still overall boss) The plugin, once enabled (toggle on/off), will have a simple priority system where all clients are listed, including the server itself. Disconnected clients will be remembered, but removable so that it's easier to manage. It will always fall back to local processing if there is no external client available. Each client (and the server) will have to be assigned a relative "capacity" number for how many typical streams it can handle. Default is 2, and if all devices have this, they will share jobs equally. Emby server running on PC hardware will also default to 2, but if run on NAS or similar hardware, will default to 1. There should also be a "hard limit" toggle per device. Higher rated devices will be assigned jobs first, and when there are as many jobs going as there is total available "capacity", any new jobs will keep being handed out relative to the capacity numbers, i.e. 4 jobs for the devices rated 2, and 2 jobs for the devices rated 1. Devices with the "Hard Limit" parameter set, will not be assigned more jobs than the capacity parameter set for it. A sync/conversion job (not live transcoding) will run up to a set number of parallel tasks, but always limited by the total "capacity" number, regardless of hard limit set or not set. Use WOL, like already exists between Emby Apps and the server. A checkbox per device. Choice for how much "capacity" to keep available (0-x no. of unused) before sending the WOL-command to the next computer in line. Prevent sleep if transcoding. If Theatre App is closed, keep running ffmpeg part in the background/tray. In reality probably lots of hurdles . But I think this could be a real deal-winner if it was made possible.1 point
-
It is possible today to already do slave transcoding due to the fact emby uses ffmpeg. I'm working on a proof-of-concept on an emby setup. I'll share my findings after I've implementing.1 point
-
Hi, I don't now if embedding into client apps is the approach we'd take, but the idea of being able to offload transcoding to slave machines is something we're interested in for the future. Thanks.1 point

Now that the server logs are accessable from the web admin console, being able to delete the existing logs from the console would be extremely useful, since virtually every problem solving session begins with the the instructions to 'start with clean logs' ...1 point
