5.1.17 is pushed into stable repo. Soon I'll release new test version(s) in beta repo. If you don't have any issues and just enjoy 5.1.17, switch to stable or disable autoupdates.4 points

MKVs are capable of having multiple video streams inside of it. Some BluRays make use of multiple video streams, like animated films where some content like signs is translated to different languages. Or some films do have several video streams with additional content like a "before-CGI" version of the movie. Or you can choose of 2D video vs. 3D video. Kodi will support this in "Krypton" (version 17). http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=216672 So this works, when using "Direct Play". But not in other Emby-Apps or when transcoding. You can choose audio, you can choose subtitles, but not video. So it would be nice to have a "picker" for the video stream in Emby apps2 points

Request No. 1: Implement Metascore rating for movies, from Metacritic.com, in Emby. OMDb api provides this information. Request No. 2: Also, fix an option in settings to enable or disable a ratings source according to the user's choice.1 point

Hi, Since I am using more and more TMDb, (since tvdb is more and more a mess), I am missing a very important feature. tvdb had the feature of grouping stuff into aired, DVD and absolute, which is supported by emby. TMDb had also this feature. See this example for "La casa de papel" (Money Heist, Haus des Geldes): The Original Order is allways the "aired order" of the original country. "La casa de papel" was originaly released by "Antena 3" and was taken over by Netflix, which results in different episodes ordering, which is a mess. They solved it in episode grouping. This feature is missing from emby, but it's integrated in their API and is allready supported in other apps, like kodi. At least, Banana a TMDb Mod claims it, that it's supported by Kodi: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/71446-la-casa-de-papel/discuss/5e7032d84f9a99001152704f?page=1#5eb76872ca7ec6001f7c53cb Is it possible to add this feature into emby? It is the last scraping feature, I really really miss for TMDb on emby. It adds much flexibility and is overall a much better solution, than on tvdb with their aired, dvd and absolute order. Another great example is Dragonball Super: As you see, it adds much more flexibility for different regions over the world. It's in my own eyes a must have for emby!1 point

Hi, Iād love that audio and subtitles choice would be saved per show, according to what you select on the last episode you watched. The main audio/subtitles parameters is a good point but there are many cases it is not enough and you need to adjust audio and subtitles at the beginning of every episodes. For example i like to watch Casa de Pale in Spanish with french subtitles, The Big Bang Theory in English with french subtitles, French TV shows in french without subtitles, ....1 point

I was thinking it would be kind of cool to be able to mark a movie as "Featured" and have it show up on the home page. So when looking at the movie synopsis (as the admin) you could mark it as featured, similar to the "watched" option. I'm not sure how complex this would be, but it would be cool - so that during the Easter season for example, I could have a featured section that showcases that specific content. Thanks for reading!1 point

I'm new to Emby, from Plex. In the middle of my trial, using a fire stick. So far I'm a fan and plan to upgrade my account. On the server, files within collections scroll vertical on the fire they scroll horizontal. For smaller collections that's fine. I have a [comic book movie] collection that has 100+ files in it, scrolling right to left is a bit much. Any chance scroll can be vertical once there's a certain number of files within the collection? Also, release year shows on the server within a collection, but doesn't show on the fire app. I'm able to turn year on and off in the movie media folder, but not in the collections. In the movie media folder a decade filter would be pretty valuable. I saw a request for it already, never hurts to ask again . Lastly, it would be nice to view movies and collections in the movie media folder when sorted by title. Right now now it looks like it's an or option.1 point

Greetings! I'm trying to get back into using Emby, but I'm running into some issues. The server won't append some of my content to my library. I have a very large archive of YouTube videos on an exfat drive, and when I add then to my library Emby seems to refuse to scan the directory. The folder for the entire archive is there, and when I click scan on it. It seems to do nothing at all. What do you think is going on? I'll attach a log w/ debug on. Another similar issue I have is, I have folder of a bunch of audio files and Emby only scans the mp3s and doesn't touch the opus webms embyserver.txt1 point

Hi, @cayars I have problems with SSL now. Emby works on local IP but don't with my ddns.net domain on https. I install letsencrypt and do everything like before. I generate certificate file with: `openssl pkcs12 -export -out mydomain.pfx -inkey privkey.pem -in cert.pem -certfile chain.pem -password pass:` and copy to /opt/emby-server/ssl. First I move /etc/letsencrypt folder from Rpi to new Mini PC installation but it don't work. Next I try fresh letsencrypt install and also don't work. Do I have to add permissions to that pfx file? OK, I add permissions 777 and chown emby:emby and now works Regards, Przemek1 point

@ishihara would you mind trying the latest 4.6 beta release and see how that compares? Thanks.1 point

I would love to see an addon for this as well. Too often I get incorrect parental ratings on newly added movies. I just had to update the last thee movies added to CA-14 where TMDB had them as CA-G or CA-PG. I've been going to filmratings.com to manually correct but I don't know the ratings are incorrect until I see them show up on my 6yr old daughters Emby account. I'm considering changing my default country to USA because it seems that the TMDB community US values are more often correct but anyone can change them and that's a little worrisome. Common Sense Media is dedicated to this and I don't think just anyone with an account can override what is there. I might have a couple years off what they say but I'd be less worried about an R rated movie showing up in my kids list using them.1 point

Thank you @quickmic. I woke up to Matrix and would've been royally fvcked if not for your efforts with this addon.1 point

Hi. We will look into making sure all unlabeled "buttons" have descriptions that talkback should be able to work with. As for the library grid view - the titles under the tiles should be the default and this setting should persist once you set it so I'm not sure what is going wrong for you there.1 point

only open the ports you need. then install fail2ban, problem solved. since you mentioned you're windows, i believe the windows variant is called wail2ban. you might also consider adding a more robust router behind your isp supplied router that has geoip filtering.1 point

That is AndroidTV client, same as Fire devices use, as per OP query. In Web app I don't have PG ratings either.1 point

Holy crap finally got it sorted! I found a setting in Win 10: Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling Turned this on, set the hardware accelerator in Emby to: Nvidia NVDEC Copy Back All the 4k HEVC files now play like butter, the GPU is sitting around 30-50% when playing files. It doesn't seem like any frames are dropping though the on screen display no longer works so I can't check (that's a weird one). I tried reinstalling ET but no luck on the OSD fix. At least 4k is now working! Hope this helps anyone else with issues running 4k through an Nvidia GPU. That was painful...1 point

The direction of scrolling isn't really the problem, it's that on the horizontal scrolling version there's only one row, so you can only see six movies at once. The vertical scrolling version has six columns, so you can see 18-24 movies at once.1 point

Late last year I decommissioned my HTPC in favor of a qnap 653d as a emby server and as a it has a hdmi port I can still browse the web in the rare occasion I need to. I use a Nvidia shield for my front end. Everything just works. No more sleepless nights trying to get something back online so the family can watch tv/movies the next day. WAF is way up and I can spend my time on other things!!!1 point

My version of the absurd is that I only have my libraries on my home page, as small tiles. These all used to show, twenty of them filling the screen on my phone and tablet, whether horizontal or vertical. Now I have just two rows at the top of an otherwise empty screen, showing one and a bit tiles on each row when vertical (two and a bit when horizontal). So to get to all my twenty libraries I have to scroll horizontally several times (slowly, so as not to overshoot). If this, as opposed to seeing all the tiles on the screen (which was the case only six months ago) is some kind of "standard", then the standard is crap. I get it for TVs, which are inherently a clumsy way to handle things; but phones are not TVs, tablets are not TVs, computers are not TVs. Standardisation should not be carried to the level of ensuring that the more capable devices have a worse experience than the least capable. Normal practice is not necessarily best practice... I'd also like (but have no expectation that it would even be considered!!) the option of having lists without images everywhere. I have my books, CDs, and DVDs arranged edgeways on along my shelves, and can readily browse them by title. I do not have them face on, as that would take up ten times the wall space, and be that much harder to use. Yes the images are pretty and all, but I don't have a media server in order to look at its GUI, I have it to find and play media - it's the media I want to look at. Paul1 point

Now if you want. Not forgetting I just use it, which isn't really the same as knowing what I'm doing.1 point

Correct. That's what the beta of the app does.1 point

That sounds like a total pain indeed, but nothing like this has ever happened to me and I've been using xbmc/Kodi for almost 8 years and Emby for Kodi 5 years on. Mind you if its a Kodi update a local database reset is needed so those 2 link properly again. Please note the latest Kodi version 19 requires a new emby add on called emby-next-gen (and then a local database reset). I guess its the price to pay to enjoy the best of both worlds (Kodi's superb interface along with a single Emby server for all clients)1 point

Not going to get any "Likes" for this but naming conventions exist for a boatloads of good reasons, and as the word convention implies, they are quite universal (ie they works as well for Emby,. Plex Kodi etc. Choosing to ignore those conventions is one's privilege, but your mileage may will vary. There are many possible variations, but calling a pint of motor oil "2% milk" will spell trouble.. There are a few free software that will batch-fix those file names for you in a couple of clicks. Folder structures is also quite important. It isn't about convenience, it is about need. 95%+ of media consumers no longer need an htpc to get what they want. full stop.1 point
-
Yes, actually, it does because the designation of HTPC is specifically a PC used for a Home Theater. So, when you connect it to your TV that's what it becomes. And very few people are doing that anymore, not out of convenience but because it simply isn't necessary to get what they need anymore.1 point

and data update for "rating only" would be great. i would love to let update my rating for my library atleast once a month. but it scrapes other data too1 point

Hi, As MBS moves to standards it would be great to add support for XSPF. From Wikipedia "XML Shareable Playlist Format (XSPF), pronounced spiff, is an XML-based playlist format for digital media, sponsored by the Xiph.Org Foundation." Specs can be found at http://xspf.org/ The spec has all the xml goodness and supports extensions, so the MBS team can add stuff as needed. XSPF is supported by VLC, Here is a VLC link to their XSPF usage with the extensions they use http://wiki.videolan.org/XSPF I realize m3u is probably more common, but can't seem to find a governing body that manages it. There are pros and cons to either format I am sure. Thanks for consideration! If you have VLC and like Classic British Rock as an example give.... never mind seems I can't upload a xspf file or even a file with a .txt extension...........? "ClassicRock.txtThis upload failed" Anyway trust me it is pretty cool.. http://www.classicrocklounge.com/ Live stream- VLC shows the track playing info1 point
