Auto Organize is used on your NEW items only, it does not influence your existing file/folder structure nor does it alter your existing items (only time it does so is if you're upgrading some, with explicit permission to overwrite existing files). It monitors the folder you direct it to (Watch folder), and then manipulates those files according your setup: it might or might not create subfolder, it might or might not rename it according set pattern, it might move it or copy it to a new destination inside your library. Edit: I suggest you leave Transfer method as 'Copy' in the beginning, so you will always have those items in your Watch folder to revert to. Once desired results produced and you're comfortable with your setup, change it to 'Move'.

This should apply to those that have already upgraded to matrix and embuary has been automatically disabled. Copy the addon.xml (located in the skin.embuary-leia folder in the add-ons folder within your kodi userdata folder) from your kodi install to a computer. Your userdata folder will be different depending on what you have kodi installed on. Check the kodi wiki if you don't know where it is. Open the addon.xml file in either notepad++ or notepad. Find the line that says <import addon="xbmc.gui" version="5.14.0"/> And change it to <import addon="xbmc.gui" version="5.15.0"/> Then copy the addon.xml back to the same location for your kodi install in step 1. Restart your box and/or kodi. You can now enable/select the skin in settings.

Hi, Thank you for the great product. It is a pleasure to use it. I have seen some posts but they are years ago regarding my request. Is there a plan to have notification (when adding movies, shows, live tv etc.) from the emby app ? This means to get a push message on my android phone, iphone, windows app, etc. With 3rd party software its not so cool. Thank you.

Hi Anyone ever had the idea of making an emby app for virtual reality? Only a simple app with a virtual screen (maybe cinema environment). There isnt a good solution for enjoing media in VR yet, so that might bring many new users to emby. Plex tried sth similar about a year ago, because many people requested it but the app was in a very bad shape at release and failed. Btw have someone already tried sth in that direction?

Permission issues are one of the biggest issues we troubleshoot in this section. Thankfully, with the release of FreeNAS 11.3 they've implemented a new featured called the ACL Manager. With this new feature, configuring permissions for your jails has never been easier! I've done up a quick how-to guide and attached. This is only for new jails created in 11.3. Anybody upgrading from an older version of FreeNAS that already has Emby installed will not need to follow this guide as they'd have already configured permissions under the old system. Emby File Permission Setup FreeNAS 11.3.pdf NOTE: To access the ACL in TrueNAS 12.0+ the location has changed slightly. You must go to Storage -> Pools, click the 3 dots beside your pool, select Edit Permissions. This will put you into the ACL Manager. All other steps are the same. I no longer use TrueNAS so I don't have screenshots, but anybody is free to update this document and provide screen shots if needed.

I owe you an apology. Emby LG app is capable of playing a transcoded and tone mapped movie without burning in subtitles. Unfortunately embedded srt subtitles seems to not showing up at all but external .srt work fine.

No you're doing nothing wrong. Unfortunately on tvOS we have a maximum number of tabs we can show so we've had to make some concessions within certain libraries. In the future we may be able to allow a user to configure which tabs to show.

I'm a new Emby premiere user and I love the dark/black theme of Emby on a web browser. However I'm not a fan of the dull gray look of the Apple TV app. Is there a way to make it look more like the browser or at least change the color? Thank-you

Just maybe not fully understanding or deciphering what they are really saying there . A "decoder" decodes a particular format of media. Before you get to decoding it, you first have to understand the container and extract the different media streams from that container (and understand what each of those are). The place this particular item is stumbling is the container part. The stream inside that container is being seen as raw audio when, in fact, it is compressed DTS audio. Windows makes this same interpretation. We already utilize the ffmpeg extension in Exo (as well as a few others that we have created ourselves). We are going to have to look into whether or not it is possible to extend Exo to understand that this container that is supposed to have raw audio in it (wav) actually has something else and then handle it from there. We are looking into that but I cannot make any promises because, it is such a rare case, if it isn't an easy thing to do it may take a while.

@kaledi: Yes, having emby installed on a separate SSD volume has been working well for me. I am very happy with the performance. The database and metadata loads nearly instantly and it only needs to access the HDDs when your starting playback, scan the library, etc. I can very much recommend this setup, if you have a spare slot for an SSD in your NAS. I have tried several setups of emby server in conjunction with my Synology: Regular install on my main volume, having a symlink point to a fast USB drive that contained the library data, having emby server run on a separate PC and accessing the data on a network share, etc. They all have their advantages and limitations, but the setup I have described above is the cleanest and most performant setup I have found.

Hello, Luke, after several tests with AC3, E-AC3 and DTS soundtracks all with passtrough setup (ET 3.0.14), it goes wrong only with E-AC3 (AC3 and DTS with passtrough are good) because my amplifier is not E-AC3 compliant i assume (?) ... i understand now ! I'll go back to previous ET version and block ET update with Daedalus solution. Thanks to both of you for your help !

This was the root of the confusion here. You created an emby user in TrueNAS as UID 1001. However inside a jail, that's pretty much irrelevant. It's called a jail because it's like it's own little enclosed system running inside a larger system. So by default, when emby is installed inside a jail it creates an emby user inside that jail which is user 989. The host TrueNAS system doesn't see this at all. So now you have an emby user at host level with uid 1001, and one at jail level with uid 989. While they have the same name, the uid's are different so permission is denied. In older versions of FreeNAS, you had to manipulate the user or group inside the jail that emby is running to match one created on host that has access to your files. It was pretty complicated for the avg user. With 11.3 and onwards, they came out with the ACL manager which makes life so much easier! You don't need to create anything on the host, you simply give access to the files using the UID inside the jail. And this is why you get the "user not found" message, it's because at host level user 989 doesn't exist. This method also doesn't matter who owns the files, or what their permission levels are because you just gave the emby user full access to all the files. Then you can easily create extra ACL entries for Sonarr, Radarr, etc.. etc..

Hi @quickmic I did the update to Matrix on my Nvidia Shield. Just FYI. So Emby addon was marked to incompatible. So... I did a fresh installation using NeoSilvo skin--- and with the latest Emby next-gen from https://kodi.emby.media repository Everything runs smooth. Thank you for your hard work. Of course Py3 runs faster that py2 so is a win win Regards

Yes, this plugin uses scenes that are defined in the hue hub. Define the fade/delay in the scene and the lights will behave as you expect. Note that not all hue clients let you set the delay (I have no idea why). But the windows app Huetro does.

Well, I suppose that depends on the usage, I find it quite useful, actually, it's one of my daily drivers.

Yes, having recently retired WMC for an entirely Emby experience, I would greatly appreciate seeing the ability to set up recording series based upon Keywords. Particularly needed for sporting events. I.e. a keyword recording series for "NFL Football Seattle" routinely and almost 100% reliably recorded Seattle Seahawk football games under WMC. These are much tougher to (remember to) schedule manually, and I don't want to record all of the NFL Football as a Series recording. I used similar routines for MLS Soccer and Formula 1 races... This particular request has been kicking around longer than this 2017 Feature Request post suggests..

There is an update for DSM 6.2.4-25554 After running this update I noticed that RTM was no longer working. Checking inotify showed that inotify/max_user_watches has been reset to 8192, hence RTM not working. I have had to run the echo 's2s_watches_max=262144' >> /etc/synoinfo.conf echo 's2s_watches_max=262144' >> /etc.defaults/synoinfo.conf commands again, manually, then reboot the NAS to successfully restore RTM

Just a quick note here.... /mnt/media/movies is a different directory from /media/movies you mentioned earlier that you pointed your library too. Although what I'm seeing in #2, /mnt/media/movies seems to be where your files are stored on the filesystem. What I was looking for is to navigate to /media/movies in the shell of the jail not from the base file system. If you're going into the shell from the freenas GUI, you'd simply type "iocage console emby" (or whatever you named your emby jail). Then navigate to /media/movies and run "ls" to see if they're listed there. If they are indeed at /mnt/media/movies inside the jail you've got your library pointed to the wrong spot. Now if you've confirmed that your mount point is correct, the issue has got to be permissions based. As far as your ACL entries go, it shouldn't be entered as user emby, it should be entered as user 989 which is the user id that emby uses by default. Also be sure when setting this up that you check off the "apply permissions recursively" otherwise it will only apply it to the main directory and the files inside will still have their original permissions. Hi. I've just got an Apple4K and have the Emby app working, but the Sort option looks very limited. Using other apps (Emby Theatre, Browser app), I can sort by Title and then quickly jump to a letter via the quick access alphabet on the side. This seems to be missing on the Apple app and it's pretty much unusable to scroll through 1500 titles Hopefully I'm missing something simple??

Yes, sorry. If the season has two episodes with the same intro, they will be detected. This goes for any other intro in that season which is the same or similar. If an episode has a unique style of intro, it will not be detected because it won't match anything else in the season. Wanda vision for instance doesn't repeat an intro ever. This means that although it has episode intros they can not be detected, and would have to be manually edited. The series you mentioned has different intros, and some repeating ones. Anything repeated in the season will be (most likely) detected. The issue I experienced with the Mandalorian was that there was an intro, then a recap, and finally the chapter intro. The detection algorithm mis recognized some. Hence an editor was needed. Depending on how things move forward (with the newest versions of ffmpeg in the server has chromaprint capability) we can spend time on the editor and perhaps try and show thumb images for more then one detected intro point in a stream (it might make editing the data easier). Of course that's if we get the band back together, and we can figure out how to return more then the first intro detection. I'm testing the new ffmpeg and the algorithm tonight to get things working in the plugins scheduled task. If that it easy, then we can work on the config page and editor.

You'll find it's just not the software itself but the community as well that make Emby such a great system to use. We've got some great mods who are also very, very active in the forums and devs who probably spend to much time in the forums helping users and tracking down issues. Of course what mostly makes our forums really great is our user base which is some of the most helpful bunch you'll find on a forum anywhere which is a reflection of the software itself. Anyway, welcome aboard!

Before Emby I used a simple browser for a while then I used an app called "Roksbox" that require an Apache server. Then I moved to an app called "Chaneru" these were all for players on the Roku platform only. Later I moved to trying both "Plex" and "MediaBrowser" I pretty much stuck with "Plex" because at the time it was the more full featured and more stable application. Plex then started behaving like "Media Nazis" so I moved to "Emby" because of the support and the developers that actually seemed to interact and listen to their users. Now "Emby" is appearing to move toward being "Media Nazis" like Plex and I may have to look for something else. However I have no idea where I could move as the alternatives do not look at all promising. And NO "JellyFin" is not a viable alternative as when I have tried it I spent more time maintaining it than I did watching media.

Thanks Corey, I realize this is a personal opinion only. As far as the browser I love the look so much better then Plex for example. To me Emby looks awesome on my web browser but for me the Apple TV OS doesn't look as good. But again loving Emby so far and glad I'm coming over from Plex

to be fair, since Tautulli is opensource, and it encompasses pieces of all of the different plugins being created currently (some which have been mentioned in this thread), why couldn't the current projects abandon theirs and just fork tautulli and work on it together to make it Emby compatible? I am no developer, so it maybe more work than I realize, but I can't imagine it being more difficult than recreating it from the ground up?...

I am sorry, but it is not. The standard rates (not necessarily used, but what is defined in the specifications) for a Ultra HD Blu-ray disc is 72, 92, 123 and 144Mbit/sec. And yes, I know this rate is for both video and sound combined, but you get my point. 4K video has 4 times more pixels then 1080p and also often contains HDR (10/12bit colorspace), so ~100mbit is no longer as high as it sounds.

I would like this, too, I have already asked for it 8 months ago. The data should be relatively easy to pull from Last.fm (Like Airsonic/Subsonic does it) now that there is a plugin. As someone else said, it would also be nice to see my favorites from a given artist. Currently, there is no way to even filter for that. I don't think it would open a can of worms, especially if we could easily create meaningful playlists/queues from the filter. Then you can quickly queue up whatever you want.

Just hoping to get some traction behind VR versions for Emby. Obviously something for Google cardboard for starters but since I got the Gear VR yesterday. the first thing I wanted was my Emby library in a VR theater and other cool virtual settings. Thoughts anyone? Unfortunately I am still far from a software developer or I would be doing this myself.
