I suggested in a totally different thread a bit ago about possibly adding Discogs as a meta fetcher... https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/79280-duplicate-music-artists-entries-how-to-get-rid-of-them/ That thread has had a few +1 reply posts. As such i figured adding it to the feature requests was the proper way to gauge interest. If you have used MP3tag you should be familiar with Discogs. Its a GREAT alternative to Musicbrainz.3 points

Updated Builds based on Kodi v19 RC1 posted here Edit: Please remember to delete your previous MyVideos120.db because there has been changes to the database layout. Also remember to install the latest versions of the Emby / Plex media importers because there has been a breaking change in the add-on interface: Emby Media Importer: 0.0.102 points

I'd really like to have 2 Factor Authentication added to the login screen. It's just this (optional) extra layer of security to help secure the server (which, especially if people use camera uploads) contains pretty private data. There are for every type of programming language quite a few libraries available, so implementation on a server shouldn't be too hard to realise1 point

CURRENT STATUS: SSO: Not yet planned LDAP: Development COMPLETED - BETA AVAILABLE >180 direct endorsements >30 MONTHS (>2.5 years) >12,000 views PLEASE BUMP - - - - - PLEASE LIKE - - - - - PLEASE BUMP - - - - - PLEASE LIKE - - - - - PLEASE BUMP This would greatly expand Emby's usage, and possibly more enterprise level adoption, user templating, user groups, SSO, etc. There are also users who have completely abandoned Emby and ended subscriptions due to the lack of this necessary basic functionality. Note: SAML2 is also part of this request. (header auth is also acceptable, at a minimum.) Context: I am trying to use something like openfire as a Instant Messaging solution which already supports LDAP and SAML2. So this would allow the current user of emby to seamlessly use web-based instant messenger with the same username and password as Emby without the need to enter them into a form. This would also allow universal login to be shared with my home PC's, Spiceworks, Ombii, Organizr, etc. The multitude of possible flexible functionality this could add is truly incredible. THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE, myself and others cannot manage a userbase with proprietary passwords for a single service (with no self-service password reset/recovery), when things that have only months of development implement it within days, easily. Status: LDAP - Development Completed - BETA AVAILABLE! Common LDAP solutions to test against:Open LDAP (Open Source) [use this] ApacheDS OpenDJ 389 Directory Server Microsoft Active Directory SSL is NOT actually needed, but Emby team insisted on it anyways: Simply offering a toggle option for auth to send plaintext or encrypted passwords would work just fine. It is ironic to claim the need to be overly security conscious of user passwords, while lagging behind on basic SSL. If SAML is implemented, a SAML request/response can just be signed by an x509 and it is just as secure as TLS using SSL. SSL does not need to be natively supported, as it is perfectly possible to run it through an SSL reverse proxy tunnel and have the same effect. SSL Feature Request: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/33983-ssl-integrationsupport/&do=findComment&comment=322526As of now username and password is encrypted client-side as security as SSL is not natively implemented. Emby team has said this impedes the adoption of both SSO and LDAP. Please see our SSL request topic; like, comment, and endorse it to show how many people would enjoy/gain from this basic security. Ways to satisfy this FR: Direct LDAP connector SAML2 connector General SSO functionality (SSO Header, etc) Allowing user header auth NGINX auth support RADIUS Authentication Other features that are inherently possible if this is implemented: Self service passwords Ability for users to invite users/guests Expiring Accounts (after duration/trigger) Unified credentials for many services Corporate level authentication security User groups Mass User management Update 1: I encourage others to work on this but I am currently seeing what I can do to develop a solution to this myself. If you have experience in this LDAP/SSO/SAML2/SSL/.NET contact myself, @@Luke, @@ebr or the Emby team to let them know, any help is greatly appreciated! By everyone! Update 2: I know there is always the question of "well how many users actually want/will use this", so I compiled a list of some of the other threads/sites where people request this (to apparently no effectiveness in motivating the team). Update 3 (18 MONTH UPDATE): This request has now hit 18 months in age, NO progress made thus far whatsoever. ( ) Update 4: This FR is now the 4th most liked post ON THE ENTIRE FORUM and the 3rd most liked FR ON THE ENTIRE FORUM (ever), the 1st most liked active FR ON THE ENTIRE FORUM and over 4000 views. Counting endorsements besides those on this thread show over 115 direct requests/endorsements for this basic functionality. Lets get this moving guys, this is getting to be a bit much. Almost 2 years waiting on this now. Source Update 5 (9/20/2017): This feature request is now the MOST DESIRED REQUEST EVER MADE TO EMBY, sadly, that has not merited any progress at all. The staff has been working on things they believe Emby users want or may want, but it is clear what people want. We can only hope now our wishes are respected instead of being told what we want and having our requests dismissed. Source Update 6 [2 year update] (10/17/2017): Two years and not a single bit of progress has been made. TWO YEARS!!! To say this is disappointing is an understatement. The entire reason I went from Plex to Emby was because of local user management. THIS IS THE ONLY REASON, so naturally I wanted to have complete control over my users, but after TWO YEARS, still nothing. Update 7 (3/6/2018): DEVELOPMENT HAS STARTED!!! Check Luke's recent comments, if you want to test it out, download the latest beta and install/configure the LDAP plugin to test and give feedback!!! Update 8 (4/6/2018): Development on the LDAP connector has completed from what I gather, not sure if this is only a beta or a primary release; SSO is still a plan for the future but has not been touched. Progress made by other users (looks to be nearly, if not fully complete): https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/pull/1885 https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/pull/2139 Exploits shown by other users against Emby (emphasizing the need for a centralized authentication solution): https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12335-unauthenticated-access-over-the-internet-to-logs-folder/ https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/20376-all-folders-visible-to-all-users-after-upgrade/ Related FR that could be helpful: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/46635-support-for-logging-users-in-though-url-scheme/?hl=user Any of these could be interesting to have compatibility with: http://lemonldap-ng.org/welcome/ https://github.com/Jasig/cas http://passportjs.org/ https://www.nginx.com/resources/admin-guide/restricting-access-auth-request/ LDAP/SSO/SAML Requests (~180 endorsements) [>12,000 views] > 95 endorsements on this post ~ 30 endorsementshttps://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/1146 > 35 endorsementshttps://www.bountysource.com/issues/24943821-authenticate-users-using-ldap > 14 endorsementshttps://feathub.com/tidusjar/Ombi/+122 > 4 endorsementshttps://www.reddit.com/r/emby/comments/5o44wd/creating_deleting_updating_users_with_the_api/ Interview, in article comments user said lack of LDAP STOPPED him from using Emby (Emby is actually losing customers due to the lack of this NECESSARY basic functionality):https://www.linux.com/news/software/multimedia/856128-exclusive-interview-emby-founder-luke-pulverenti Duplicate, user had no progress on first 2 posts (no one from Emby actually tracked this or even replied to him):http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/861-mb3-and-active-directory/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/867-mb3-and-active-directory/ Auth announcement, user 'Drashna' in comments requested LDAP/ADhttp://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-177-manage-your-home-with-emby-users/ Various similar requestshttps://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/2494 https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/2493 https://forum.yunohost.org/t/integration-emby/912 http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/13081-active-directory-integration/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/11200-media-browser-3-server-ldap-active-directory/ External SQL auth request:http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/27986-emby-and-shared-mysql-database/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/23509-authenticate-users-via-external-mysql-database/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12001-external-login-to-mysql/ #ADFS #SSO #LDAP #ActiveDirectory #MSAD #SAML #SAML2.0 #SAML1.1 #PingFederate #OKTA #LemonLDAP #JASIG #authentication #auth #TLS #SSL #Usergroup #usertemplate #header #authheader #headerauth #security #hardening #authhardening #authenticationheader #externalauth #centralauth #centralizedauth #centralizeddb #exploit #authexploit #security #loginhardening #authenticationhardening #accesscontrol #.NET #SelfService #RADIUS1 point

Request that Emby server store Dolby Vision (including profile), Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, HDR10+ (smpte2094) and HLG for appropriate video in the db and use it for display in the media info and track selection sections of movie/episode details screen. This information once in the db can then also be used in numerous other areas like: Mediainfo Cover Art, Stats for Nerds, Distinguishing different DV profiles for hardware support and tone mapping Example Mediainfo app display of HDR10+ ffmpeg patch for HDR10+ https://patchwork.ffmpeg.org/patch/11491/ Related requested that may require DV profile information in order to prevent unneeded TM1 point

Hi , In the past 2 days i tried ET on RPI4 2GB i tired the emby-theater-pi image , emby theater 3.0.14 deb files on both ubuntu and raspbian and i just can't get it to work smooth. ET interface is super leggy , playing 1080p is almost impossible since it get stuck every second , not to mention 4K videos. I tried to disable HW acceleration but for some reason i cant change it as it become blank and always turn back to auto when i exit. I managed to play perfectly 4K videos on : raspbian + vlc libreELEC + embycon. It's clearly not HW problem , so it most be something with ET or something i did wrong. any suggestions ?1 point

So with all the work going on with putting emby-theater on a PI 4, why do you bother? I have tried multiple setting combinations on a PI 4 4GB device and it is totally unusable. Video is jumpy and worthless, interface is extremely slow, etc.. I used the .12 image build to flash on an sdcard and even insured all the gpu setting were enabled. Then I tried with all of them disabled. All combinations I tried still have the theater as unusable. Am I missing something? (I know, asked be fore in another thread) Looking at top on the PI, I see four emby-theater processes running. Are there supposed to be that many? But even with 1 of them taking 128% cpu when a video is playing, I am still at 50+% idle. So where is the disconnect here as it seems there is plenty of resources left.1 point

I am pretty sure this is just a change on TMDB providing more Cast per movie as you have noticed. There is nothing Emby is doing differently. Not like anyone would like a Cast limit, but wouldn't see how if they are all listed via the Cast category beside a hard limit.1 point

You shouldn't have nested directories in your libraries. Unless I am mistaken, the actor count per movie has gone ballistic, continuing in my spotchecks, it now seems common to see over a hundred actors listed on a movie detail page. I am blown away. Emby is now on steroids.1 point

OK, Like I said I am currently looking at reworking that plugin, so will keep an eye out for that. Are you willing to try a web restore if I give you an Url?1 point

In your cache directory, is where all the JSON files are kept, for tmdb, its /tmbd-people/<tmdb_id>/Info-en.json. These have all the links to the images on tmdb. So clicking an Image "should" reread these and re-fetch an image. However, I haven't checked if they are renewed and re-read or if they are just re-read. If they are re-read Emby shouldn't download corrupt images from old files because Luke has put a fix in to prevent this. However, that wouldn't refresh any that tmdb have fixed since, so I would assume refresh metadata is a better option in most cases as it has the effect of renewing these files and therefore any old links with newer fixed ones. If its not doing anything then tmdb might no longer have the images or restart you server if you havent since running the plugin so changes are committed to the library.db, then every refresh should work as normal.1 point

Refresh missing metadata without replacing existing images should pull any actors that are missing that Emby can, since tmdb moved thousands of its images (the root cause of this issue, along with Emby not handling the error well at that time - until then Emby didnt have to!), However a lot of previous Actor images that they had are now missing. If you are going to do this, I recommend NOT replacing existing Images as Emby "seems" to clear out the old ones before it gets the new ones, so you could be getting rid of some that cannot be replaced as of yet. As the months pass TMDB definately seem to be fixing this . I had limited success with refreshing metadata myself at the higher library level. Always seems to work better done on every movie rather than the library, I have no idea why - but still tedious. Unless you really want them all, you can do either the options posted above or allow them to naturally repopulate as they are clicked here and there over a longer period of time.1 point

IPv6 addresses are a good reason to get yourself a domain name so that you can associate the address with that name (or a sub-domain name) and never have to write it again. You can associate both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses with the same name, and the computers at the ends of the conversation will choose which to use for themselves. In domestic use it is very rare that thinking about the choice between IPv4 and IPv6 is actually useful. Paul1 point

@Luke Can you check the code to verify that only these IPs mentioned above are considered local without any network override? The IP he had should not have been considered local as it's not a reserved IP address. Only 172.16.0.0 – 172.31.255.255 are reserved in the 172 address space.1 point

Hi, Emby is a personal media application. You need to setup your own emby server and then you can stream your personal content to your devices. I would suggest checking out our quick start guide: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159034-quick-start1 point

When you select a quality of 4 mbps, it's 4 mbps total for the entire file, so the actual video bitrate will be less than that because you have the two audio tracks. One of those audio tracks is 640k, the other is 384k, so that sounds about right. So if you want the video stream bitrate to be 4 mbps, perhaps try entering 5 mbps instead.1 point

I'm adding HLG HDR to the list since a lot of BBC material uses HLG and not all players support it. This info would be nice to know because the nVidia Shield doesn't support HLG and my Samsung does. When played on the Shield colors are all washed out. If I knew the file was HLG then I could switch to the Samsung app beforehand.1 point

I had a quick check with emby 4.6.0.22 and that seemed to indeed work on the DS920+. Don't have that much time until Saturday. But might be able to check a bit more on different hardware on Saturday. I will update the topic if I have more information but so far things look promising1 point

Something is blocking the server's access to these external domains. Typical causes are firewall, security software, or VPN. I would look into that. You could also try disabling ipv6 in your router.1 point

Exactly why? Open source projects should adhere to legal agreements just like any other.1 point

Agreed, it would be cool but I've been down that road with MediaPortal and I've come around to thinking that one application shouldn't be media server, aggregator, OS shell, and program launcher all in one. It would be great to browse all of your media sources at once and have it launch in the correct service (video, games, music, etc.), but unless the media services want to allow it (and why would they?) I'm happy to just have an easy way to get to them from a single remote. For software like Emby, I think it's best to focus on the best ways to organize, find, sort, filter, expose, suggest, and seamlessly play your media securely in the best quality on whatever device you've got. That's plenty to be getting on with.1 point

Hi. Some platforms do not care about things like Terms of Service for providers but we do try to adhere to them. Also, our primary purpose is for your personal library so most of our work is concentrated in that area. As we move forward, we will have more time for the other areas of content. Thanks.1 point

This one took me a while to figure out, but I finally found away to organize them that they're all easy to find. I hated how thetvdb put them into series based on years, even though people, including me, had set up a series based off of one character so everything was easy to find. People also kept changing the order which became extremely annoying. I ended up creating a Movie Folder "Disney Cartoons" that has sub folders for each character; mickey, Donald, goofy, silly symphonies, pluto...... In each of these folders is a typical movie organization in which each cartoon is considered to be a movie. One short per folder with the folder and short name with the convention from themoviedb.org. The hardest part was naming all of the files correctly and moving away from the SxxExx format. You'll notice the great posters that have been uploaded for each short as well1 point
