  1. I think I got it fixed. I updated my emby install and now it works!

  2. Wishing it works well on other platforms like Linux too. I hope you have not focused your efforts solely on Windows.

  3. I actually found a good solution right after I posted my question: I uninstalled the emby package and reinstalled it on volume2 (DSM let's you select the target volume when you install a new package). That way, the Emby program data folder gets created on volume2 as well. I then copied all the data from /volume1/Emby/ to volume2/Emby/ before I started the Emby service. Seemed to work without a hitch...

  4. Hi, they will be grouped for the next release of the server. Thanks for the feedback.

  5. Hi, Since I am using more and more TMDb, (since tvdb is more and more a mess), I am missing a very important feature. tvdb had the feature of grouping stuff into aired, DVD and absolute, which is supported by emby. TMDb had also this feature. See this example for "La casa de papel" (Money Heist, Haus des Geldes): The Original Order is allways the "aired order" of the original country. "La casa de papel" was originaly released by "Antena 3" and was taken over by Netflix, which results in different episodes ordering, which is a mess. They solved it in episode grouping. This feature is missing from emby, but it's integrated in their API and is allready supported in other apps, like kodi. At least, Banana a TMDb Mod claims it, that it's supported by Kodi: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/71446-la-casa-de-papel/discuss/5e7032d84f9a99001152704f?page=1#5eb76872ca7ec6001f7c53cb Is it possible to add this feature into emby? It is the last scraping feature, I really really miss for TMDb on emby. It adds much flexibility and is overall a much better solution, than on tvdb with their aired, dvd and absolute order. Another great example is Dragonball Super: As you see, it adds much more flexibility for different regions over the world. It's in my own eyes a must have for emby!

  6. I've been dying to know if this has garnered enough interest to be worked on. I found Emby (MediaBrowser 3 at the time) and its bookshelf plugin while I was searching for something that was like Plex for comics. Plex doesn't do this (and probably never will), Kodi doesn't have what I'm looking for either, and ComicRack seems to be dead at the moment. Unfortunately the bookshelf plugin doesn't work the way I had hoped. I was dissappointed to see it only offer a download to the file to which I can open it to the program of my choosing. Even browsing through the books I only had the option of going through folder-like directories and couldn't browse by author like the people section in the other media types. I would love for it to be fully integrated into Emby where I can open and read a comic right on my phone and tablet or even my web browser as I could with my movies and tv shows. Also, I hope to god somone is working on the "Games launching in android" feature you mentioned on your up-for-grabs blog post. That would be awesome!

  7. I have not been able to find a way to make this work as I think it should. I'll use movies as an example. If I set Emby to use the library scan date, that works a decent amount of the time. When it doesn't is when I upgrade and existing movie to a higher quality. Say from DVD to BluRay. Emby sees the upgrade as new and puts the movie under recently added even though it may have been in my library for years. I understand this happens because it is technically a new file. But functionally, the movie itself is not recent to my library. I use Radarr so it updates movie qualities from time to time based on my settings. Likewise, if I use the file date, that causes other issues. For example, if I add an older movie (say Gladiator) to my library for the first time, it will most likely have an older file date and not appear in recently added even though it is indeed new to my library. I know Radarr it also has it's own settings for file creation date but the available options don't solve the issue. I guess what I am looking for is basically use scan date unless the title already existed in the library. Is there a way to achieve that functionality and get recently added to be correct?

  8. Please read this post first. I was wondering if it would be possible to add something that would allow you to skip the intro to shows automatically while binge watching. When watching Netflix it does this for some shows, and im not sure if thats a feature of Netflix itself or a Chrome extension i use called "Flix Assist" but it would be a nice feature to have within Emby as well. and possibly even create a custom timed skip for specific shows

  9. So you are saying content from within said library blocks scanning and populating other item within the library folder, correct? The error in the first post does not make much since as "path: /media/INET" is not "path '/media/01". But it sounds like you need to use a ".ignore" file if you do not want said folder in Emby instead of how every your are attempting to block it from Emby. But to me this topic is really hard to interpret the overall issue.

  10. That's a good idea, but for now, I'd say just delete any rules you don't want. They're pretty easy to recreate if you decide you want them back in the future. Once I get some of these other issues out of the way, that would be a good one to add.

  11. You are joking. What they have is something that we would never publish. Their software tone mapping is so slow that they are not offering it. Their Nvidia tone mapping is slow and they have no solution for QuickSync.

  12. The only way giving a strm file will work is if it has a proper url. This "http://ddnsname:8096/Movies/A/Alien (2004)/Alien (2004).mkv" will never work, as Emby does not sent a url like that nor would anyone like that. Why not log into Emby and just select play?

  13. You're right I probably did. I'm of course only speaking from personal experience of how things work now. I'm not sure how this could be done but you could post a REQUEST to change functionality or have a new option for this "when files change". I do know another way this could be done but would have to be "wedged" in to your current solution. If you have Emby set to use file date/time then you could have a small util that changes the date/time of the new file to match your old file date/time. That would fix this issue as well but not sure how you could implement that. In your present solution can you add routines to the pipeline of actions that take place?

  14. Emby's tone mapping solution should run faster on Windows than other "solutions" if things go well. Even with GPU support because of the IO involved with passing things back and forth across the bus from CPU to GPU there will be a limit that you don't see with normal transcoding that can take place strictly in the GPU. The reality of the situation in real life is for most users is going to be limited tone mapping streams concurrently. Just throwing a number out as an example that may not play out in real life but to make a point, say your system can transcode/tone map 2 streams at the same time. If you can support 2 streams and only share to family members this might be just fine, but if you share to a half dozen people or more outside your house and plan on having a large 4K library without 1080 backups things may not work well for you if your hardware can only support 2 of these streams at one time. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade but there will be limits to what can be done because of the way hardware currently works. This is something @RanmaCanadaunderstands and is trying to explain. Tone Mapping isn't going to be a "fix all 4K solution" for large amounts of people short of having things like 11th Gen Intel or equiv Nvidia GPU that can do this processing on chip FULLY. The industry is progressing but it actually is still pretty early for this type of thing. Emby will deliver a solution and will keep updating it as technology allows but it's not wise to think this is going to allow you to have only 4K HDR media and stream to 6 of your friends at the same time like you can easily now with 1080 content.

  15. I'll check it in, as soon I release the first stable version. While beta, there are massive changes in the code. Even file structure changed. Makes no sense, changes would be just confusing at this point.

  16. Yes also fixed, and I used your translation file. Thank you!

  17. Yes, checked it. 5.1.11 works again. By the way the encode error is also gone.

  18. Ok, I found the issue. It will be resolved in the next release. Thanks.

  19. We will get there with full support for multi-file videos, but even once that happens, we still suggest joining the files for the best possible experience.

  20. This has been corrected for the next release and won't happen anymore. Thanks.

  21. @loomes Can you please perform a quick test. It should work, but this is not the final approach. I used a shortcut, not very elegant. And I see, there is also an issue if you remove an episode. This takes a bit longer to fix.

  22. Yes i copied a mkv to the Series Folder on the Emby Server and then i clicked "search for missing metadata" on the Series in Emby Server. And yes, after downgrade to 5.1.9 and a new scan of the series on the server (to trigger the update on e4k again) the episode was added in kodi.

  23. ok, thanks. I think I know the issue. I'll fix it...

  24. I think that you are now being rather arrogant. It is not being Lazy to want to keep only one copy of a film as there are many reasons for wanting to do this. Just because it is not your idea of best practice is not a valid reason for your response.

  25. Hi. When you asked to forget the server, it did . You can either enter the address manually, or re-connect via Emby Connect by removing your Connect ID in the user setup and saving and then re-adding it and confirming the link.

  27. Ooops, it's time for a grovelling apology................ I've just rechecked the Emby Android TV app and it now shows the "Drop Down" with options of 720p & 1080p. I'm not sure if I missed it first time or maybe I should have closed the Emby Android TV app and restarted it before checking. Either way, it was my bad! D'Oh. Sorry & As You Were!

  28. Hi. If you will never want to see that channel, it would be much better to block it at the source so it never makes it into Emby.

  29. I share access to my Emby Server with a few members of my family. Is it possible to have a user group for each household, and users assigned to that group would show up on the login screen for that household? That way they don't have to sign in and out each time they login so they can have access to their library and watch history.

  30. The way the Roku works is a bit different. It expects the playlist to obtain a MediaType during the initial fetch. It does not yet know the contents of the playlist to know what it is composed of. The video playlists used to populate the MediaType field with "video" as the value. This made it possible to redirect to each handler: video, photo, or audio. With the MediaType now missing this makes it fall back to "audio" as the only type playlists can handle presently. We apologize. We are working on a solution and should have one shortly. Please stay tuned.

  31. Hokey dokey. Just bear in mind that if there's a wrong way to do something, I'll find it, and whats obvious to you is unlikely to be obvious to me, and etc etc...

  32. You can set a 'Custom Rating' in the Metadata Manager for that show that's high enough to trigger the restriction.

  33. Yes there should not be a More options on the OSD as Keyboard and Remote commands are active. @Luke Not sure if this is do to touch screen as I am testing from a table as my test desktop is awaiting parts. But as seeing the random results of More button on OSD. Stable and Beta

  34. That's because it's not exactly easy to do. As I've mentioned already, Intel has been working on it themselves for years and will finally have a full hardware solution with their 11th series or processors. Nvidia and AMD haven't even bothered to address it as they appear to not GAF. The current plugins that the community has created don't always work, and everyone always bitches and complains towards said devs who created these plugins in their spare time. As for 4k material, it should NEVER be transcoded, whether is HDR or DolbyVision. You keep a separate library for your 4k content, and your non 4k content. If you already have the space for 4k content, then you obviously have the space for regular content and not having it is just you being lazy. Having your 4k content in a separate library will also allow you to block certain users who attempt to play those files on their potato systems and thus complaining to you that their movie looks like garbage while the transcode is bringing your server to its knees because of their stupidity.

  35. Priority is in the order they are listed in your guide data sources, although we plan to provide more control over this in future updates.

  36. I can't say why you're getting different results in different clients. I can say this isn't a supported structure and your episode numbers are wrong so you're going to get some odd results. Here is the TV naming wiki: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159110-tv-naming If you follow the naming wiki and match your titles to your metadata provider of choice, you'll have great success and it's FAR less effort than your current structure. I recommend this, assuming you use TVDB as your primary TV metadata provider: \\server\share\Doctor Who\Season 01\Doctor Who S01E01- An Unearthly Child (1).avi \\server\share\Doctor Who\Season 01\Doctor Who S01E02 The Cave of Skulls (2).avi \\server\share\Doctor Who\Season 01\Doctor Who S01E03 The Forest of Fear (3).avi \\server\share\Doctor Who\Season 01\Doctor Who S01E04 The Firemaker (4).avi I recommend pulling the entire show out, scanning, renaming/organizing the files, and then drop the show back in your TV share and doing a library scan. Should be just fine after that. I would also convert those AVIs to MKVs and probably convert them from MPEG2 to MP4, assuming these are DVD rips. Both of those changes will reduce server-side transcoding requirements.

  39. it's a matter of colors. The icons are there just seem all white on the white background. When I used dark mode in my browser they showed up.

  40. On the latest server beta the My Icon list is empty. Should it have icons in it or do I need to do more than change a few colours to get them to show up.

  41. @Luke would really appreciate this as a feature. Looking forward to it. I understand if it's not highest priority, but if you could look into it when there's time it would be very nice
    1 point
  42. Yeah that was the idea! I liked this feature a lot. I like the vast majority, so it would be like creating a whitelist of thousands of tracks to exclude only a few dozens. Plus it adds an extra step when importing an album.

  43. You don't want Google TV, even though it's coming The home screen is too cluttered under Google TV, whereas it's very minimalist on Android TV. I much prefer the home screen on my Shield than I do on the Chromecast Google TV. Thanks.
    1 point
  44. Why? You're going to be severely limited on what games you can play. This is a stupid idea. Think of how many of your family and friends who have no clue about how these things work and all the headaches you as a server hoster will have to deal with explaining to them the ins and outs (or you could just deny them access to that portion). Build them a pi, load an SD card and be done with it.

  45. BTW, this thread as a week shy of three years old and the issue persists.

  46. Right - my bad - so set the Movies Recording path in the DVR to 'E:\Films' in the OP's case.
    1 point
  47. Have you tried the 'Auto Organise' plugin as it works for Films as well. I believe you can specify to record TV and Films in separate folders, and then set Auto Organise to pick up from the relevant folder only (if you don't want recorded TV added). As always - have a backup of files before you start to experiment - but I believe this could work for you.
    1 point
  48. If you're so APT at it, then how about you get off your duff and create a plugin that will actually work and can be adopted industry wide. Or is berating the dev team the only thing you can do? Intel themselves have been working on it for years, so please, use your expertise to help them, as it's obvious only YOU can save them from their folly. If a multi-billion dollar company is having issues solving it, it's obviously not something that can be done by a "rag tag" group of developers.

  49. Nostalgia. The good 'ol VCD and SVCD days. When 55 minutes was about what you could get on a disc. There was a good reason for doing this as it made spanning media onto spindles of CD's very convenient. But in the era of hard drives and solid state drives using them is like using a horse and buggy to get to and from the market. There is not much use in keeping them separate anymore unless you are still burning these onto CD-R and watching them on your DVD player from the bygone era. The gain in merge them is chapters, full resume points, ability to see the full runtime, and easily access versions. None of these work correctly with spanned media any longer. Times are changing. You need to change with them.

  50. Hi. The metadata providers do not consider these items two different things. They are only split apart due to technical limitations of the physical media they were originally delivered on. The best approach it to combine the two of them into one file and then have it be one movie as seen in the theater. If, instead, you do want them to look like separate films, then you can set them up that way and just edit the metadata (titles, posters, whatever) so that they appear differently.
