Pretty far along now. Plugin config will have a list of tag rules. They will be editable. You will create tag rules by selecting the pencil button You can create the conditions of the rules next. If a media item adheres to these conditions tags will be applied. Press the "Add Tags" button, will open the tags dialog. This is where you create the list of tags to add to the rule. The list will be editable, so you can go back and add or remove tags to your rule condition. Now that that is almost complete, the next step seems clear. Create a scheduled task which checks through the library for any item which follows the rules, and apply the tags.3 points

Not sure if this is the right spot where to request this. .. Nevertheless can we please add the feature for embyserver. Pretty much ro setup a pause timeout limit . so if a user put a video/movie on pause for more than xyz timeout limit would kick them back to the video/movie home page... While Emby already has recommendations built in based on previously watched items I find they are not all that helpful. They seem to be based on genre only, for example, because you watched a comedy here are other comedies in your library. I do like how the also directed by/appear in recommendations work though. What would be great is if Emby could incorporate Trakt's recommendations as they are much more sophisticated. Trakt's recommendations are not only based off of what you have previously watched but also what your Trakt friends and other Trakt users have watched. It takes user ratings and trending/popular media into account. Ideally Emby would include full Trakt integration allowing users to rate media after watching, view lists and recommendations, and view upcoming media all from within Emby but for now I think recommendations would be a nice addition. Trakt has the potential to give Emby that community feel and allow users to discover new media, find something to watch, and recommend media to other users. http://docs.trakt.apiary.io/#reference/recommendations2 points

If I were doing this, I would have a single option when executing an update - merge (add these if they don't exist) or replace (all tags with these). When you get to the user interface, having tags labeled "auto-xxx" aren't going to make any sense. Edit: Perhaps a third option of "delete" would make sense as well for if you wanted to remove a given tag from a group of items.2 points

This is the one thing that has me going back to Plex just to watch my Live TV recordings. It'd be great if Emby incorporated this natively. I hope it isn't falling on deaf ears as it's something we've seen a lot of people chat about/request. I know there's a major update to Live TV supposedly happening soon. I keep hoping that this may be part of it, but I don't think so.2 points

Thanks. The bit in post #1 seemed to work fine. @rbjtech What you suggested is also fine I'm sure, but I asked the question then was too impatient to wait for a reply2 points

I'd really like to have 2 Factor Authentication added to the login screen. It's just this (optional) extra layer of security to help secure the server (which, especially if people use camera uploads) contains pretty private data. There are for every type of programming language quite a few libraries available, so implementation on a server shouldn't be too hard to realise1 point

Guys, The ebook side of Emby/MediaBrowser has been long stalled or rather stagnated. I would like to offer up a couple of suggestions. Many people use calibre as an ebook/comic book tool for scraping data and general management of their collection already. This program is absolutely astonishing in its ability to pull metadata from post calibre scans, as well as draw in metadata from the file source and/or directory structure. http://vaemendis.net/ubooquity/ Its a self contained .jar server/reader combination. And honestly I am very impressed by it's small footprint and wide range of abilities. The other option is COPS , which was written specifically with calibre in mind. It is open source, so making it work with emby I would think would be fairly easy. https://blog.slucas.fr/projects/calibre-opds-php-server/ Ever since the original release of MediaBrowser's bookshelf I have always wanted something that would allow me to 'read' my collection, rather than being basically nothing more than a place-set for images of books I own. I am sure that those who mainly have audiobooks are thrilled with bookshelf , but it's nothing more than an extension of the music library IMHO, not new features. We can have both right? Here I give you two suggestions free of charge.. Just because I love you, and Emby Personally I plan on running the Ubooquity Server along side of Emby from now on, just because of it's massive functionality and tiny footprint. But I sure hope that someone decides -- "yeah, ebook support should be in here too" and do something about it - rather than allow this now very very ancient issue to continue to remain an issue. And so I don't have to have 20 different ports open, some with SSL support - some not, because Emby isn't delivering the 'complete package'. (Please take some of this with humor, I know you have your hands full with improvements/bugs/suggestions/requests)1 point

Could Emby add support for Fan Edits and their associated metadata? The best source on the web for the metadata is: https://ifdb.fanedit.org/ and it would help streamline in the same way the metadata pull does for regular videos. I currently list my fan edits separately from their original movie so that I can have independent metadata and then group them with the original as a collection. I've thought about using the new multi version feature but from what I can see that shares the metadata between all versions so I'm thinking my current method is the best as the metadata can very significantly from the OE movie.1 point

Please read this post first. I was wondering if it would be possible to add something that would allow you to skip the intro to shows automatically while binge watching. When watching Netflix it does this for some shows, and im not sure if thats a feature of Netflix itself or a Chrome extension i use called "Flix Assist" but it would be a nice feature to have within Emby as well. and possibly even create a custom timed skip for specific shows1 point

We’re switching to TMDB as the primary data source for TV shows After several months of internal discussion, we are announcing our plans to use TMDB as the primary data source for all TV shows. The quality and completeness of data has greatly improved at TMDB over the years and we think with some re-alignment of community resources, it can work really well as Trakt’s primary TV data source. Why are we switching to TMDB? What it really boils down to is a moral opposition to taking in data from a community and then trying to sell it back to them. We believe when a user contributes to an online data source, they mean for that work to be shared with everyone around them. Both TMDB and Trakt have open and free APIs for developers to build upon that hard work. Please read the remainder of the article here:1 point

Trying to see if we can help users out by re-adding the addon with the extra security NextPVR requires I was wondering how to trigger a database change when the URL for recordings changes. It seems like MediaItem type 8, 18, 5 and 11 don't update when the recording list is reloaded. Does Emby treat the recording Path as static? If so is there a call back where token changes can be addressed? Martin1 point

Playback Reporting uses it's own database so yes, it will only start recording the stats once you have installed it. It is an excellent plugin - it will provide more info on the users than you ever needed to know ...1 point

5 min? I finish my coffee in like 2 haha. Seriously though, I wish people would realize that the cost of Emby Premier helps to pay all of you guys and continue the development of this program. Not just the "use" of an app.1 point

There isn't a way to make them look like TV series, although we'll be expanding on audio book features in future updates. thanks.1 point

Beyond the user configurable part, which I retracted, I'm not sure what the extra mess is that isn't already inherent to the idea of bulk tagging. Or put another way, I don't see how any other solution avoids the mess of a system that would support both auto-bulk tagging *and* manual tagging to the same data property. At least with the prefix, there's some indication to the user what the source of the tag is.1 point

That would be an extremely messy approach IMO and I wouldn't pursue it. You are finding out why this isn't in the core yet. It gets complicated fast.1 point

OK, thanks, these command lines are showing hardware accelerated tone-mapping. I wanted to clear this up, because you had posted this in a context where we had talked about CPU-based tone-mapping which is a very different thing.1 point

Nope - the 4.6 Beta does not fix this issue ... It still ignores them unless played via 'Play All' - tried both web and FireTV client. @Luke - Can you kindly confirm if this has been included in 4.6 or was this dropped for a later release ? If yes, then I'll raise in the testing section. edit - in the release notes for 4.6.0.10 you specify - Fix some items not showing in Continue Watching but I'm not sure if 'some items' includes 'Specials' ...1 point

Hi, don't know if you're running the release or beta but the music library just got a big make over essentially allowing it to be 100% tag driven putting your media in control of what's shown and loaded by Emby. It also got some database optimizations to go with that. The current beta also combined CONTINUE and NEXTUP setting the stage for more to come with that. The next version to make beta is in private testing at the moment but Luke has made many comments about it. This drastically improves the way collections work and brings the AutoBox set plugin functionality in the core library functions at the library level. It essentially moves collections from being XML text based files to database entries which provide better performance and especially control over the collections (permissions), not to mention makes moving media on disc much easier. This comes with more database changes and yet more database optimizations in general along with some changes to how PEOPLE meta-data is stored. Kind of spot on Paul. Both the previous beta with Music enhancements and this soon to be beta have a lot of database changes so we've been doing a lot of testing in private groups of these changes before they hit beta. An upcoming beta if not the next beta is to also include the first release of tone mapping for HDR->SDR content. All of this as well as many other little things (already in beta) will make the 4.6 release. The next truly big release is likely going to be the new Live TV release but I don't know if that will get a point release like e.g. 4.7 or 4.8 or if it will be Version 5.0.1 point

Well that's true, we can't pretend to transcode using a Pi, if someone requires to transcode and tonemap he will obviously need the right hardware.1 point

As I increase target bitrate, makes transcoding and tonemapping harder. For me it makes no sense transcode to that high bitrate, in that situation I can direct play, so I don't need transcoding, but using low bitrates is useful. Ideal for remote users in my family with limited bandwidth and avoid having multiple versions of the same media.1 point

This is my first time trying set up m3u and epg url by adding the tv sources as m3u tuner and epg url to XmlTV as TV guide providers. When I try to remove the first provider so I can try another provider to compare their services and that's when I ran into the issue that I reported. I dont remember that I installed live tv plug in or not, but I did uninstall all of the plugins and ran the scheduled task and that seem fixed it.1 point

you can pull up the guide during live tv playback, just nowhere else. i don't see why its a problem to have the button on the OSD regardless of the type of media being played. if it was good enough for WMC then it should be good enough for emby1 point

this has been requested by myself many years ago and again recently. ebr just ignored the last request. for myself its not just virtual tv, i want to be able to bring up the guide whatever i'm watching, but most often when i am watching recorded tv and i see a trailer for something thats on in future. i want to schedule the recording from the guide but there is no way to bring it up to do that. lets see if he responds this time1 point
-
I responded to his question, and at this point we don't know if we're talking about the same thing as your issue so the answer may or may not apply to your case. But VLC has been around forever and it's had lots of workarounds added over the years to deal with poorly or improperly muxed files, whereas the player we're embedding on android doesn't have as much of that yet. It just takes time and troubleshooting to build that sort of resilience into the player. But this is a very common question. People say, oh my file plays with VLC, so it must be perfectly good and it's the other player's fault. Well often times, the bug was actually in the software that created the video file, and Vlc just happened to add a workaround to handle it.1 point
-
It's simple, you just drag it into mkvtoolnix, then have it create a new mkv without making any changes. It's a good way to repair a poorly muxed mkv.1 point

Emby does so much more than typical "TV" apps like our What's on views with sections in Program to find upcoming Movies, TV Shows, Sporting Events, etc. Having the same movies showing up 10 times because it's listed for different regions or even languages can turn out to ruin things. Same with TV Series Recordings. You can easily setup up series to record missing episodes but if you have a dozen languages in your listings you'll be recording the wrong episodes. These are things people new to PVR don't even think about because they're used to using 3 or 4 groups from the m3u as a way of keeping the list manageable but that's just the GUIDE view which is one of many in Emby. Sure we'll have that too but but you want to narrow down your channel list for starters to only channels you can use and eliminate ones that are of no use. For me personally, if it's not English it's out. If it's an infomercial or shopping channel it's out. If it's a religious network it's out. Nothing against religion but I'm not personally a fan of religious TV so they are out. Except for one or two channels if it's SD it's out of my list. I have many channels for additional markets than my main market but I only include the ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox channels as those are the ones that carry sports I watch and will have unique local sports content. Then depending on time of year my Racing, American Football, Baseball, Soccer, Basketball, Hockey channels will be in my lineup on not as I'll shuffle them in/out depending on season. I don't need reruns during off times of the year when there are no live games/matches. For me, if it's channel none of watch it's fluff and taking up space so even channels like the different MTV, VH,nickMusic1 are out as well as Bounce, CourtTV, BET channels, etc Is this type of management for everyone? NOPE but works really well for my family as the Guide is the channels we use without fluff channel. On my system the Movies and TV Show libraries are the center of the system but Live TV is used for recording and some live sports1 point
-
No matter how good the channel management UI might be designed - having channel amounts like that, would be painful to work with. That's why a good TV application should allow some pre-filtering, avoiding users having to do that manually...1 point

If any Emby developer or user is interested in making a metadata plugin for IFDB (https://ifdb.fanedit.org/), one starting place might be the IFDB metadata bundle for Plex. https://github.com/tomfin46/IFDB.bundle That's about 280 lines of Python code. I know Emby plugins are written in languages supported by .NET and Mono, usually C#, but perhaps it could serve as pseudo-code or at least give an idea of how to begin an Emby plugin. The github project has no obvious license (open source or otherwise) listed on it that I could find. Also of note, that project has five forks, but I looked at each of them and it doesn't appear that any of them were created with an Emby version in mind and none of them seem to have added anything significant that isn't in the original, nor do they seem any more up-to-date than the original.1 point
