  1. I know that to some people this may seem silly but to those who have family members that are either elderly or don't understand technology this would be a godsend. I don't know what they keep doing but my parents will constantly accidentally log themselves out of the roku app. Then I spend an hour on the phone with them trying to walk them through getting logged in either with emby connect or having them manually enter the IP address. I would love it if there was a way I could get them logged in and make it impossible for them to log out or change any settings. seems like a long shot to ask for but just thought I would throw it out there!

  2. Yes we do but there was a recent issue identified in the server that I don't think has made it to a beta release yet.

  5. Yes.. I signed in with my wife account on my PC and edge works fine so it appears to be profile related.. Investigating further...

  7. I searched and couldn't find this brought up previously. Emby has the capability to add "People" to the metadata for an album in your Music library. However, the list for the "Type" field is decidedly slanted to types appropriate for Movies. I.e., the types listed are, Actor, Composer, Director, Guest Star, Producer, Writer. Types appropriate for Music would be really nice. Some of this information is available in databases such as Discogs, like the album recording engineer, mastering engineer, etc. The "Type" field would be difficult to use for musicians, unless you were happy with just "Musician". Discogs lists this kind of information under "Credits" and has the person's name and then text for the instruments played, or credit such as producer, recording engineer, etc. That might be easier to implement in Emby. This is the kind of album information I thought a system like Roon would provide, but it looks like it does not. Even if this information would be difficult to gather automatically, it would be nice to be able to add it manually. Fields for other album information such as recording date, release date (original and actual), recording studio, label, catalog number would also be nice. Many of these could exist in music file tags.

  8. So Edge works and Firefox doesn't. I would start by looking very carefully at the security settings in Firefox. Then the Windows firewall - perhaps Firefox doesn't have permission to connect to non-standard ports. Is there any other security software installed that might restrict networking - these things do get mentioned here from time to time. Paul

  10. Excellent. Thank you so much for the info. I am heading in the right direction now.

  11. So spent quite a few hours testing it and I can confirm it releases from the server but it does not release from the hdhomerun tuner. This happens when you don't use the back button before powering off. Tried fire stick and Roku, Roku is still definitely the culprit. Hopefully there's a fix for this soon:)

  12. To take a screenshot on other official Android TV devices, please refer to the following link. https://www.guidingtech.com/screenshot-android-tv-box/ This may not cover all devices, but should point you in the right direction.

  14. I'd use MKVtoolnix and change it to MKV. Quick and simple. No converting and everything will stay original.

  15. Unfortunately, I can't access the file system at the moment, so no log or db file at the moment. I am not using any special skin. Will test again with the latest build you pushed.

  16. Perfect, thanks for testing. I'll push the new version into repo. So 5.1.5 will only have this bugfix.

  17. Well, that was a simple fix. I changed the setting for Accelerate h264 on for only HD and up. This is a great plugin, and glad someone took the initiative to create!

  18. Nevermind I should have tried it before I talked. The tuner release seems to be working, at least a couple times I've tried it this morning. I haven't tried it in a couple weeks. Also on emby Roku beta with direct stream live TV check marked I was able to play it for an hour and a half so far with no issues!! Not sure what's changed but I'm happy if it works!

  20. yes all okay and working as it should I had to create a completely new Freenas dataset as well as new mountpoints. Just creating new mountpoints and using these with the old dataset did not work. Fortunately at the time I had very few films in the old dataset so copying them across to the new dataset was not a problem. And making a new dataset, making new mountpoints and adding a new library was done in around 30 minutes. Much quicker that tearing my hair out trying to find and then learn how to fix the problem! thanks

  21. The fact the stream is MPEG2 suggests the HD Homerun is not transcoding itself - it will be recording an MPEG2 transport stream. The majority of clients will need to transcode this to play back - there is however no reason why you should not be able to have multiple transcode streams running - your cpu is more than up to the task.

  22. That did it!! It's an odd implementation though. I can create directory trees as many levels deep as I like outside NVIDIA_SHIELD on that drive, but can't write to the directories I've created.

  24. Hey Luke, Thanks for checking. So I did discover when I reinstall the embyserver docker on unraid the host path was set up differently than the emby library mount point. A silly mistake on my part. Thank you for helping out.

  25. Luke, when would it be appropriate to use to custom settings? Looking to learn here.
    1 point
  26. I notice you customized your server hardware transcoding settings. Try setting it back to just Yes from custom advanced.

  27. It's similar and can be as confusing as a reverse proxy setup. I'm reworking our remote connection setup instructions in our Knowledge base articles to streamline a basic setup but then also add sections for advanced setups like this with VPN using completely different ports or a Proxy server or Cloud Proxies like Cloudflare. The major "trick" is just understanding the correlation of Emby's PUBLIC PORTS and how they relate to the router or proxy being used and what port they receive info on before forwarding to Emby's own 8096 and 8920 ports. If it's any consolation, you're now in the Emby 90% networking understanding percentile. LOL Let us know if you have any other issues or if we can be of any additional assistance.

  28. Yes, exactly. That along with the port forwards posted above was the fix. Thanks again!

  29. Disclaimer: I do not and have not, except for a brief test, used remote access. That VPN is also basically unknown to me but I have heard of it and it receives mixed reviews around the internet. The one thing that always shows up is that it is cheap and I distrust when that is one of the first things mentioned in reviews. I use and recommend Express VPN due to many reasons but price is not one of them. Often the phrase, "You get what you pay for," is more than a little true. When I tested, a couple of years ago, with ExpressVPN I got remote access working pretty easily but I had to do nothing special. However I recommend troubleshooting in steps: 1. Get it working with no VPN at all. 2. Add the VPN and its features one at a time and get each part working before trying the next. If you want more help I would suggest you include logs from everything involved as there are people here, not me, that can read logs and see what is going wrong. Other than those limited suggestions I cannot help much but there are others here that have a pretty great understanding of the mysteries of VPNs and remote access one other obscure magical functions of the computer world. @cayars may have more expertise or may know of someone else that can help. It often seems that he knows everything about the most obscure and arcane areas of the computer world. Edit to add : Mullvad VPN is not really a lot cheaper than Express VPN Mullvad is about $81.50/year and express is about $100.00/year. That is a difference of only $20.00 and for that you get more stability and a LOT wore servers worldwide.

  30. This app does support theme songs. Just not videos yet.

  31. Hi guys, I actually open-sourced the code for a graduation project where the goal was exactly to detect recaps, previews and opening&closing credits. You can check it out here: https://github.com/nielstenboom/recurring-content-detector I figured maybe it can be of use! Would have to port it somehow, as it is python based. Cheers!

  32. Hi. Doesn't this already happen with the video theme feature?

  33. Thank you. I was planning to provide the requested details, but haven't got to it yet. Thank you for fixing the issue faster than I was able to report it properly I will check the new app as soon as it is available.

  35. I would hate that so very, very, very much. If this were implemented it should default to off. The setting should be hidden. You should have to manually create a complex, machine-specific text file and put it in a directory that the installer doesn't create in order to enable it! I jest a bit, but it's seriously awful and should be off by default if it were implemented.

  38. This is a recent "improvement". Previously I could see all my 20 libraries on that screen - now I have a go scrolling to find them. Hopefully the idiocy of this will be acknowledged, and the display either reverted or provided with an option that improves it. Paul

  39. It will be coming. Everything you see available in the other applications will be appearing on the Roku eventually. We are working towards this goal.

  40. I believe we've identified the conditions that cause this and we'll have a fix added to the server soon so that you won't have to worry about this. Thanks for reporting.

  42. I have downloaded one of the latest ROMs for your device (4G) but I wasn't able to easily find out on which Android 10 Rel it is based on without being able to install it. Sooner or later there will very likely be an (OTA) ROM update based on a later Android 10 release, but right now I'm afraid that I got no better news to tell. Emby is the only personal media server in the world that is able to do hardware accelerated transcoding on arbitrary Android devices that have appropriate capabilities. This works on something like 80-90% of all recent Android OS builds, but the required effort to cover the missing percentage is just out of limits. There are very few Oreo builds, some of the first Pie builds and some of the first Android 10 builds that are affected. I only hope that this won't repeat with the upcoming Android 11...

  43. I understand a firmware can be a real showstopper. But it seems to me passthrough wouldn't require a DTS logo. What if other apps (eg. stock media player), using the same firmware, could play files passing throught DTS? Just tested this and it works fine: hooked a pen drive containing the same mkv provided when Luke asked for more details. The stock media player just played the file and tv passedthrough DTS audio to the soundbar.

  44. hi @@todda7, if you check out our Emby Theater web app: http://tv.emby.media It has quite a few keyboard shortcuts, which you can learn about here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Keyboard%20and%20Remote%20Support It's possible in the future that we may also support these with the built-in web app.
