I realize that I should better put the word "great" under quarantine until a political vaccine has been found and applied. So am I about getting into public beta very soon!2 points

This has been completed long ago. A few other things are still in progress, though. All I can say is: It will be big, it will be great, and it's worth the wait.2 points

It’s awesome that Dolby Vision works in the Android flavor of Plex, but seeing this support in the native LG app would be much appreciated. I believe the proper thing to do is have separate feature requests per OS platform, so I’m filing this request! Would it be possible? My Tv is Oled c82 points

It isn't the setting that is different. It is how we implement playback recovery when handling errors that will differ between the store and the beta. The beta has special handling during playback to ensure that it will not get stuck or hang. If you are playing a playlist or large queue of episodes with the store version it might hang. The beta also has Live TV fixes to improve the experience. The beta will also be getting more Live TV fixes soon to make it even more solid. The beta has more work done to improve your experience than the store version. The beta is not broken, buggy, or bad. It is meant for users who visit the forum and wish to help when new features are designed, implemented, and improved. If you want to be part of that and have your say on what gets implemented you would use the beta. The beta entitles you to new features before everyone else.2 points

Yes, it is quite nice which makes it all the more disappointing that it's absent on many of the other client platforms.2 points

I hit "play all" on a collection and it doesn't show the next film in "Next Up" after I quit out of it. This is apparently intended behaviour, and the same applies to playlists. This is absurd. Why even have the "play all" option? Who's sitting down to watch a full collection's worth of films, or a full playlist? I have playlists for The Prisoner for its various episode orders, and there's no way I'm getting through them in one sitting. I was going to make that my next show to watch but if I'm going to have to keep track manually of my progress through the playlist it makes the playlist fairly pointless TBH. There's no reason playlists or collections shouldn't show up in Next Up.1 point

Post your request and I will add the providers to the list, just remember that the provider/website needs to have an API. Whats an API: (short ease explanation) is how emby communicates to the website and tells what subtitle to download. Is there a way to jump to a time or fast forward somehow? This is particularly troublesome with long sports shows or movies where getting to the 2 hour mark or something would require 240 30 second skips. It becomes even worse since the app often loses the plt when skipping and goes back to the same time constantly, requiring me to exit playback and resume. I cant see how to do it properly if there is a way. 2016 Samsung Tizen. Any ideas?1 point

scratch that, this solved the problem: button.videoOsd-btnPause {color: #52b54b} button.videoOsd-btnPause:focus, button.videoOsd-btnPause:active {color: #52b54b; background-color: rgba(82, 181, 75, 0.2);} button.btnOsdFastForward {color: #D4AF37} button.btnOsdFastForward:focus, button.btnOsdFastForward:active {color: #D4AF37; background-color: rgba(212, 175, 55, 0.2);} button.btnRewind {color: #D4AF37} button.btnRewind:focus, button.btnRewind:active {color: #D4AF37; background-color: rgba(212, 175, 55, 0.2);} thank you again1 point

What about on your tablet, phone or other mobile devices? Or Roku stuff? It's kind of an all or nothing deal. And I wonder what will happen when transcoding??????1 point

My advice is to avoid DV media in your libraries, unless you have the HDR10(+) to fall back on. Allowing a media player to always correctly use either the DV or HDR10 layer if remuxed together, is precarious. If you must have DV, separate if from the HDR10 and have both. DV is only best when using streaming media like Netflix etc. Amazon is HDR10 and HDR10+ exclusively, I believe. Dolby is screwing everyone, again. The tech is great, but the implementation is a nightmare.1 point

The current Android TV beta app can detect if DV and HLG is supported down the chain to the display. If not, then the DV layer is now stripped from profile 7 and HDR10 is passed. My Samsung could discard the DV layer automatically by itself, but some people had TVs which couldn't and got only a black screen before when playing DV profile 7. So that's a plus for them Other than that, I don't believe there is any manipulation of DV content atm. I'm sure things can always improve though My only issue right now is DV profile 5 which will need some sort of tone mapping, or something because I get a green tint1 point

Hi, yes we will be adding these features to the Emby Theater app. Thanks for the feedback.1 point

Those are Roku TV. The ONN might have slightly less RAM (meaning more garbage collection) but the way we conserve texture memory inside the application we can manage ourselves in a rather small footprint quite nicely. The advantage of more RAM on your device with Roku is the screen stack. As you navigate into screens and dig into things this develops a screen stack. On each screen are your nodes (cards). Inside each node are the elements (text/images). Each of those images consumes texture memory to hold whatever goes into the spot. It is then scaled up to the size the image is supposed to be. 99.5% of the time we load images into texture memory at the exact same size as they render on the screen so you lose no quality. But a few things are scaled up because they are repeated very often like the green watched circles and those hearts and check marks. Once you manage each screen effectively you want to manage the entire screen stack effectively. So the more RAM users have on their device the faster it is for them to go back. Press back on your remote and the previous screen is immediately just there POP! It doesn't have to reload anything it immediately appears. That is the benefit of clever texture management and the RAM capacity of the device. We have texture management down to a science. You should not suffer any ill effects using the weakest Roku device on up to the best they make today. Emby will work on everything Roku. Lower end Roku that do not support 4K will use a 720P UI. Those that support 4K will gain an advantage of an 1080P UI. Those are the differences. This is why the Roku you choose is not really important. Just that it works for you and the purpose you bought it.1 point

That is exactly our approach. We are both exoplayer on android. They have implemented it in exactly the same way that we have.1 point

I don't disagree with you that AC3 is preferred rather than DTS for native playback. I've just been lazy and thought I could wait for the LG Emby app update. Thank you for the script, I'm sure someone will be happy for it, but for me personally it doesn't help much because I only run Linux I threw together this simple bash script maybe it can be of use for someone else. It will recursively search a directory for mkv files, check if it has a DTS audio stream and if found convert and add an AC3 audio stream. It will output a new mkv file and then delete the original mkv. I recommend testing it out first before running it on your library folder. #!/bin/bash DTS="Audio: dts (DTS)" find . -type f -name "*.mkv" -print0 | while IFS= read -r -d '' file; do if ffprobe "$file" |& grep -F "$DTS"; then echo "DTS audio found, converting $file" ffmpeg -nostdin -i "$file" -map 0:v -map 0:a:0 -map 0:a -map 0:s? -c:v copy -c:s copy -c:a copy -c:a:0 ac3 -disposition:a:0 default -disposition:a:1 0 "${file%.mkv}.AC3.mkv" wait test -f "${file%.mkv}.AC3.mkv" && rm "$file" else echo "DTS audio not found in $file" fi done1 point

The real answer is zero. Or more accurately - however many your discrete GPU can handle. This CPU doesn't have integrated graphics and can't do HW transcoding.1 point

Luke is getting it added to the actual Synology store also, but the approval process is going slower than usual. For now this is the only way.1 point

I can try, not sure what triggers it though. No, I didn't play that one. Kind of seems related to playlists somehow, since I've been playing around with that a bit.1 point

Yes, it's dynamic metadata, so is HDR10+. DV tone mapping is being worked on by others. If you read through this thread, there is lots of technical data and discussion, with links to ongoing projects and patents. https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/issues/7326 Also, HDR10+ support is being integrated into ffmpeg. https://patchwork.ffmpeg.org/project/ffmpeg/patch/20201013235345.2609036-1-izadi@google.com/ Lot's of progress is being made.1 point

This same technique can be used for Vbox and HDHomeRun tuners as well since they are just links. Not really a reason to do that unless you want more control or merging multiple sources. -1 is for duration of the stream. Since it's unknown it's set to -1 which is the convention. tvg-chno is the tv guide channel number you want Emby to match to. Both of these could be left out if you wanted but I think it's better to have them. But other than that did it look ok to you? Does it have in your opinion all the basic info to help someone get this setup as a tuner? Guide data isn't included as that's the same as other tuners and covered in other KB articles.1 point

Dolby Vision is very complicated. Made so by Dolby's licensing. The metadata is closed spec, so it can't simply be utilized. I know of a few people that are trying to reverse engineer it. But that will take time. Unless a software decoder is used that can be integrated into the display swapchain, then the hardware has to support all its variants to be able to play them. The entire chain needs to support it. The player, the device the player is on and of course the display. With the need to pay for the license, most hardware won't support DV at all. So when referencing as system like Emby, with all the various hardware that a user has, along with what player is in the app, The variables to answer your question make this very expansive. And if Emby were to pay for the license, it would mostly be a waste of money, as it couldn't be used on many things. Though it could potentially be used for server tone mapping. But as HDR10 tone mapping isn't applied yet, DV tone mapping much further away, as it would still need to be reverse engineered. I would encourage people to mux HDR10+ in with their DV stuff, as that has greater support than DV 7 or 8.1. And you really won't notice the difference.1 point

Were you possibly recording the channel that would not direct play? Make sure the above option says YES.1 point

You apparently don't even remember what you are asking about even with your comments on this page.. You were constantly asking about remuxing a profile 7 to a profile 5, NOT the other way around. Remuxing a dual layer to a single layer is currently only supported by 1 program, and that support was only added a few months ago. And as for how DolbyVision works, it is all proprietary and hidden behind massive back doors. Serious licensing efforts would have to be made. Since you're too cheap to go beyond a free trial, I highly doubt you would be for paying an increased price for DolbyVision licensing. You clearly do not understand anything surrounding this and are not only confused, but feel entitled. Luke and company have already answered your demand, and you feel that their honest answer was not good enough. If you want DolbyVision support, rip your own discs with makemkv and stop downloading encodes. Plain and simple. The fact you think that because Android doesn't give the proper supported profile information is the fault of the Emby Dev Team, just shows how out to lunch you are. Bye Felicia.1 point

Actually, U just add script to provide start, stop, restart options for post package installation script to start the service. I have attached my own script for my environment only. Not sure it works for others. pls modified for your own environment or configuration and put it in /etc/init.d if u also install in Asus merlin with Debian, remember to put it after chroot admin@RT-AX86U:/tmp/home/root# debian enter root@RT-AX86U:/# ls -l /etc/init.d/emby-server -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1297 Dec 26 16:52 /etc/init.d/emby-server or admin@RT-AX86U:/tmp/home/root# ls -l /opt/debian/etc/init.d/emby-server -rwxr-xr-x 1 admin root 1297 Dec 27 00:52 /opt/debian/etc/init.d/emby-server emby-server1 point

That's true but, from an end-user standpoint, it shouldn't matter. The technical issues just make it more difficult for us.1 point

It seems that is not possible add an image in the movie browser pasting an URL link to an image. It is possible upload images using drag-and-drop or using online images providers, but it seems that just using an URL is not supported. This feature could be very useful.1 point
